    Hi all,

@CassieGetsFit2013 - that's barely a gain and am sure it's all down to TOM (I fluctate a silly amount that week!). Hang in there, 'still trying' is half the battle x

    @mainebeachbum - that's a fab loss, go you :)

So, pretty good day yesterday. Is freezing cold here and am feeling a bit stuffed up, so ended up being a lazy day with the heater turned up. Stayed on track calorie-wise - had leftover sausage and bean casserole thing with garlicy potatoes for dinner, less than 500 cals, really nommy and was totally stuffed afterwards lol.

Started a new 21 Day Pilates Challenge this morning. Was only about 20 mins but feeling quite good and 'stretched' after it :D Just need to try and stick with it now, I'm terrible for giving up on challenges halfway through.

Well, not sure why I gained! I was below my goal every day, drank more water each day and certainly walked enough. I have also started doing strength training on a regular basis as well. I use light weights and usually do a you tube video or a silver sneakers video for about 30 minutes a day.

The more regular strength training could be the reason for your, albeit small, gain. Any additional stress on your muscles that your body has not acclimated to quite yet can lead to water retention. Being under your calories every day could also have slowed your metabolism a bit, but I don't have enough information to determine if that has happened quite yet. Let's just see how your weight looks through the next week - I'm sure things will go back to normal in no time!

I’m hoping to keep the momentum going...approximately 3 lb/wk weight loss until I reach my goal of 180 lbs.

3 lb/wk? I'm a little worried that's a bit too aggressive, especially below 200lbs. It's possible, of course, but I don't know how sustainable that would be. Are you planning to hold that momentum all the way down to your "final" goal weight?

TOM was here...😒 Struggling with several things, but still trying...🥺

Trying is the best thing you can do! Weight tends to fluctuate as we move through the week, even without TOM, and 0.2 lbs can easily be blamed on water retention, bloat, food still being processed in your body... I'll consider this week a successful maintain!

PS: Go drink some water

Oooh, garlicky potatoes sound so good right now... I'm a sucker for garlic. Do you have a recipe for the casserole thing? I have a bunch of red potatoes I need to turn into something before they turn themselves into a potato farm on my countertop.

Remember how good you feel after a workout! That's what keeps me going back. Chasing that adrenaline high is a major part of staying on track (at least, it is for me)

~~ Happy Monday, Team WeightNoMore!!! ~~

This past week, we've had some fantastic losses, nearing half a percent lost (23.2 lbs!) across our collective bodyweight, and that's an achievement within itself!

As we enter this third week of January, there are a few things I'd like you to keep in mind:
    • One week, one day, one incident, is not indicative of who you are or what you are capable of
    • Dehydration can often disguise itself as hunger - hydrate before you die-drate!
    • Your body can only respond to what you put into it, and what you do with it, NOT how you feel about it - there is absolutely no benefit to feeling bad about your body
    • Sometimes the smallest of changes can make the biggest of differences
    • Even if you are feeling lonely, you are not alone

    ~~ Step Challenge ~~

As of the statistics at 8:42 AM EST, the eight participants in the challenge this week had walked a combined 531,213 steps, an average of 59,024 steps per person (8,432 steps per person each day!).

    Our top stepper was...

She walked an impressive 120,958 steps this past week - an average of over 17,000 steps every day! I can't even imagine how strong your calves are.

Our super steppers, with over 60,000 steps this week:

Our other step challenge participants, with over 30,000 steps this week each:

Honestly, just looking at these numbers is making my legs hurt - can't even imagine actually walking that much, especially given how chilly it's gotten outside near me. I'm so impressed by all of you!

    Hi,
I was hoping to get down to 180 pounds and then change my calorie input to only lose 2 pounds per week. I know that the recommended amount to lose is 1 to 2 pounds per week. Anymore than that, then a person could gain it all back and plus some.
I think I’ve been averaging 3lbs/wk loss because I started working out 3 d/wk, I track 1200 calories (low carb) diet and I try to fast at least 14 hours per day. I’m on a roll, and my goal it to be at 180 pounds by Feb. 6th. 180 pounds (BMI index) is a much healthier weight for me. I’m sure my doc would be fine with my plan since she’s been telling me to exercise and eat healthier for over two years now.

I know I weighed in yesterday, but to be fair I’m actually at 189 pounds not 190 pounds for week 3, Sunday weigh in.

    Hi all,

@melaniedscott - strange, I would have thought mixed beans were a fairly universal thing, just goes to show! I agree, I constantly end up wanting say black beans and kidney beans in something and then end up stuck with half a tin of each :( You also used to be able to get the smaller half-sized tins but they seem to have phased those out.

No love. Only 3 bean salad (green beans, wax beans, kidney beans). I thought for half a second that I saw some half size cans...but they were fat and short...14.5 oz, which is only maybe an oz less...I'll just have to have leftovers. Sigh...so against my will...😂

@melaniedscott - I can't stand green beans and genuinely have no idea what 'wax beans' are - they don't sound tasty lol! Our tinned stuff usually comes in grams so the normal size tin here is 400g, which I think is the same as your 14oz size, but you can get some things in 200g tins, so half size - just not usually the stuff I want :D
    But yes, leftovers it is!

@minstrelofsarcasm 😂. Oh I’m not going outside in this.I get a lot of my steps at work. But I have a treadmill in the basement with a tv mounted right in front of it. I’ve been trying to hit that everyday for approximately 42 mins: the length of an hour long show on Netflix. I must be entertained on a treadmill, or I cannot stay on it. But once the weather is nice I will be outside again.
My legs hurt when I see your cycling times. I think it’s the word vigorously. I walk fast and occasionally jog for a minute or two. But it isn’t vigorously. 😂😂

On the bean subject. I have to admit I could never make dried beans turn out right. I got an insta pot for Christmas and I’ve been making my own black bean and sliding some lentils in there. I add some chicken bullion and cayenne and they are really good. And no work just put it in the insta pot and I get perfect beans every time.

I'm pretty sure I missed my weigh in on Sunday, I was up a pound and weighed in at 166. I had a death in the family and stayed with my aunt who now is all alone. Sad eating happened, no exercise happened. I went out for a few walks that's about it. I will start tracking again tomorrow and get back onto my schedule.

    Hi all,

@kandi3570 - I do so wish I had the room for a treadmill, walking while watching Netflix is prob the only way I'd get my steps in with this weather :) I totally can't do 'dried' beans either, my mum used to do the soaking overnight stuff and I could never be bothered - hence I just get the tins lol.

    @jedaschultz - fab loss, go you :)

@RoseyandReady - sending you virtual hugs, try just to focus on looking after yourself, everything else will still be there xx

Managed Day 2 of my Pilates Challenge (well most of it lol, full ab roll ups are completely beyond me at the moment :D) but then flatmate had bought me a vegan bake so I gave in to that! Should be doing my zumba tonight though so hopefully it will balance out. Forgot to do my weigh in this morning so will log tomorrow.

    THE IDEA LOUNGE

This is where to bring your ideas, suggestions, musings, and ruminations! Everyone in the F2F community is welcome to be heard. What kind of ideas? :)

Challenges - We have tried several ways to keep fresh and interesting challenges happening every week. The best so far is to gather what everybody thinks would work. Post your ideas, even if they are just sketches. We will collect them all and share the full list to flesh them out and make some really useful and strong challenges. Why challenges? There is nothing better to help keep the energy and commitment high, and the discouragement and staleness low. They are optional but really helpful. Tell us which ones you like, or what new ideas you'd like to see.

Suggestions - this is wide open! What would make F2F better? What bugs you? What works really well? Take some time to look around on other teams than your own, and if you see something you'd like your team to try, suggest it! Or if you think of ways we can improve communication, reward the right kind of progress, or make the community more welcoming and effective. Spill!

@rachelrjh we all have those days. Just keep going. A timeline is a great idea but don’t get down on yourself if you don’t make it. Just look at how far you’ve come, and keep trudging. I had a bad day too in terms of eating, I had cake and chips and I didn’t meet a single goal. My back is sore and my body is tired. So I gave myself a break today. But tomorrow is a new day.

That's exactly the reason why I haven't changed to a different label whenever I go to spin class! MFP has a few different options, but I think that "vigorous" is the most amusing thing to imagine, as if I'm aggressively grinding away on that stationary bike.

The scales are again all over the place this week. I don’t know what the deal is. I think my body is fighting going below 180. It just refuses. I get it there but the next day it’s like no ma’am we don’t do that here!
I’m chalking it up to inflammation or I should say I’m hoping it’s inflammation. Regardless I m going to keep trudging on. At some point something has to give and if it isn’t my willpower, it will have to be my body. I’m up and down 2 to 3 pounds in a day. It’s been like this for 2 weeks and I’ve been more of a steady loser until now, aside from a few blips here and there. But at least I could explain them. I got nothing for whatever this is. But I don’t like this unpredictability. I’m hoping to be under 180 again tomorrow. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Gained a little but im not too worried about one pound. I know I'm retaining water so will do my best this week to stay away from sodium this week. My fitness pal has been funny this week, community and some excercise options just said error and I had to Uninstall and re-download, had anyone else had any issues?

That could easily be inflammation or water retention or your metabolism struggling to keep up after being in a deficit for so long. My body seems to be doing that between 165 and 170 right now, and it was doing that on my way into Onederland. The best suggestion I can give you is to have a refeed day if you've been consistently under your calories for a while, or to change up your routine a little bit, whether that be exercising more or exercising differently or just eating a food you don't typically eat.

What you're going through is normal. And if you need to complain about it at all, I'm sure almost everyone in this team would empathize.

I joined silver sneakers two weeks ago and have been doing online exercise classes twice a week, mostly for balance and stability. Not enough energy used to help me lose 2 pounds any way. I will keep it up and may even try a few more strenuous classes.
