Hope you are all well today - am going to a potluck tonight with 30 of Christians that have all left the church I was attending for 16 years - we all have left within the last 3 months. It will be nice to see them all - but hubby and I have decided that 'if' they start a conversation of 'rehashing' the problems at the other church we will leave - we have moved on and just want to be with these people because they love the Lord and our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are doing a themed potluck - Italian. Should be interesting.
Haven't released any weight since Sunday - I know it is only Tuesday - but I checked today and saw that I have gained 0.3 oz so it means I need to really pay attention to what I am eating for the rest of the week - weigh in is on Sunday and plan is to be down 1 - 2 pounds by then.
I have been sleeping much better (getting in 6 hours rather than 4 hours) but here it is just before lunch and I am tired - so am thinking I will take a power nap now - this afternoon I need to put the lasgna into the oven to get it ready for dinner tonight and then all the primping of getting myself all 'dolled up'
Have a good day everyone0 -
I weighed this morning. I don't have a regular schedule for days that I weigh, but just do it when I think of it. I have lost about .75 pound since my last weigh in and that was before 2 cheat days last week. Whew, they didn't hurt me too badly.
Calories: 815 - Couldn't find a way to get more calories without hurting either the carbs or the sat. fats. I am full, so I am not stressing about it.
Carbs: 99
Sat Fat: 13
Cholesterol: 55

Connie, you are getting enough to lose at a reasonable rate as well, so this may be what your body needs, and what you put in is healthy!
Ate well yesterday, no late night snack. Getting ready to make a smoothie for lunch.
I made an awesome pork loin for dinner last night and had that and an apple for dinner.
Getting overheated so I need to get in another room where it's cooler. Love y'all.1 -
Am struggling a bit - went to a potluck last night - food was good but only ate very little - but now it is a new day and lunch time - and hubby is wanting hamburgers - now I could go with my plan to have 2 oz of cheese and my 6 oz of fruit but opted to join him - sooooo now will have to amend supper in order to get the calories back down to where they should be - also not happy with how much flour I have eaten in the last couple of days - but after lunch today I will consider it as a new day and will get right back on track - still have a few more days before next weigh in (Sunday) and I so want to be down at least 1 pound which I still believe is doable - so am off to the races so to speak

I had hoped to be able to accomplish more home chores but it didn't happen today. I guess I got the foot irritated yesterday and it's not in compliance with my wishes today. Hoping tomorrow is much better.1

Marilyn, do you do your hamburger without the bun? I've heard of people using lettuce leaves as the bun as well. That would eliminate the flour from the bun at least. You probably know that, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
Bren, Ugh. I wish I could do something to help you. Rest, sweetie! It will probably do the most good for you - well, after prayer of course.
On track with my eating. Doing some walking, as much as my back and tiredness will let me. I got 9 hours of sleep last night but still don't feel rested. I know that sucralose did that to me, but now I'm not sure what the culprit is. I don't know that I've ever woken up feeling rested in my adult life - so who knows... Oh, Jesus knows!
Love y'all.1 -
Thanks Sweet pea. Yes! Much prayer and good rest! I am very thankful for the good rest I DO get....I was able to stuff it in my shoe today but may pay for that tonight. I got some Voltaren rub to try on it tonight too. I did pray the bosses stayed away today and so far they have. We are hitting the slump time and I can be at rest...a lot! God is so good to this old girl!
I had chicken salad and crackers for lunch. I do have 2 of the omelet cup things in there and I'll use 2 eggs with mine as there's plenty of room and goodies for 2. I look forward to playing with my own cups. I plan to use my pepper/onion blend, bacon crumbles or turkey sausage crumbles, a bit of frozen hash browns (or broccoli), and cheese. I'd grab a cup of goodies and 2 eggs and be good to go.
I skipped breakfast this morning as I am really liking the lesser loading of the past 12 days that I've been incapacitated.. Dinner last night was MW popcorn and a diet coke. Of the past 12 days, I skipped dinner 6 of them, had much lighter fare the other 6 and am doing OK. My FBS was 144 this morning. Yippee. My BP has been running high but I think the pain has a big effect on that. I'll keep an eye on it.
That hamburger idea reminded me of one of my times in the hospital. For dinner I ordered 2 patties, lettuce, tomato and onion with 2 mustard packets. It was SO good! Now I want another! My last time in there was not a good ride! I was in the basement it felt like and meals were sporadic and not healthy...a lot of sandwich packs with chips, apple and cookies. Highly unusual. I asked for 2 proteins at breakfast and couldn't have 2 meat but you can have apple juice, oatmeal, toast and pancakes...as a diabetic? Uh...No...Those folks need better training!
It's a lovely day here and I am really looking forward to Fall....and temps in the 70's. Hooya! I'm having a lemonade at the moment...the SF packet thing. I'm having water in between in an effort to increase my intake. I don't think about it much but know I'm not where I need to be at the moment with all the napping I do!1 -
Just got caught up with all the messages - we all seem to be doing fairly well.
Bren you mentioned diabetes - I have type 2 and must say trying to eat right with this condition can be difficult especially when the foods that should be eaten you dont like.
I think I shared about the plan I am following (Bright Line Eating) which my doctor approved because of having diabetes. In one day you have to consume 20 oz of vegetables = I find that difficult because I also have IBS and vegetables (most of them) cause flare ups. But am learning. I work on getting in 5 oz of vegetables at lunch and 7 -8 oz at supper and that seems to work. Of course to some people it seems I am a picky vegetable eater but it is because of the IBS. I do not have snacks but eat 3 meals a day. Each meal contains one protein, breakfast and lunch also include oz of fruit and lunch and dinner include the vegetables. As for grains during the weight loss stage of the program it is suggest to have it at breakfast in order to work it off before evening but I have transferred it to dinner meal - for the grain I have 4 oz of a boiled potato or 4 oz of rice. I don't have anything with sugar or flour so because so many things include flour it gets a bit creative but honestly I feel better with out the flour - I have come to learn that flour does make the cravings come on strong and the aches and pains increase. At any rate with following this plan my diabetes is better controlled and many who are doing this program having released their unwanted weight and have kept the weight off are now completely off all diabetic meds. So there is hope.
I shared when I came to this thread that my goal for August (one of the goals) is to lose 5 pounds. After the 1st 8 days I had lost 2.3 pounds and as of this morning I am down 4.6 since August 1 - my weigh in day is Sunday so will update how much for the month I have lost at that time but so far loos good. I feel so much better when I eat according to the Bright Line Eating plan - it is a lifestyle change and is worth giving it a try.
Proverbs 20:19
Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty, open your eyes and you will have plenty of bread
Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him;
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers

Thursday on plan. Whew - just when we were ready to sit down to dinner, the hospital called and we were on the phone for an hour with them going over medical history. It would have been so much easier if the surgery could be done at our normal hospital!
Oh well, dinner was done and kept warm in the oven, so we were fine....just hungry!1 -
Marilyn, I googled the Bright Line Plan. I didn't get too far in my perusal but if one can find a plan that works with all our different "issues" we are on a good path! Kudos for you.
I had sugar for the first time in a couple of weeks last night. It was a yogurt layered dessert by Oui. It was wonderful but too rich to do often. I will attempt a 2-3 time a week "treat". I got several of the Oui yogurts too. Cute little glass jars and higher in calories etc. then my usual Yoplait lights but for a change up, I will use these....just not daily.
I meant to bring more veggies for my omelet cup thing today but didn't. I'll have more of the chicken salad and an apple for lunch.
I did pay dearly for stuffing my foot in the shoe yesterday. The big toe joint was inflamed, the whole foot swollen and the pain was really bad so I had a less that wonderful night. It's better today tho and I am so thankful. I did bring one of the surgical shoes today in case I need it later. I should be able to walk again, upright and with much less pain...by Monday.
I got my crutches and potty chair in yesterday but they will stay in the box until I am functional! Big boxes to deal with, too.1 -
Marilyn, woohoo on your weight loss. Right on point to reach your goal!
Bren, I'm glad you were able to shoe-up today! I hope that you are able to rest enough that it would come back on you this evening! You are an enigma, my friend and have so many different physical problems to try and fit a healthy diet in. One food is good for this but not good for that... Phew, I praise the Lord my situation isn't nearly as difficult as yours!
Oh dear, this side of the country is hot, hot, hot. We are the cool spot at 99 today, everything inland is over 100! I was outside for a little bit yesterday and just felt like I was baking. Went to look at our new building, so nice!!!
On track eating-wise today. Had my treat last night, a slice of apple pie. Not my favorite but what was handy. I'll make a THM treat (maybe chocolate volcano cake (using carob)) over the weekend! Or maybe a lemon cake. Yep, those are on plan!!!

Anyone here having trouble with the fact that it is Friday the 13th - I always note it but don't put much into the fact that it is a day to be careful - as believers we trust in the Lord and all goes as planned
Am on plan with my food and looking forward to having a nice weigh in on Sunday
We are back to no blue sky due to wildfire smoke -was so nice to have 3 days of blue skies where we could open the windows - now it is back to them closed. What a way to spend the summer - but that is how it is for now
Matthew 12:31-32
Therefore I tell you every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people , BUT the blasphemy against the Spirit WILL NOT be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven BUT whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come

Thanks Kim! I feel the same about some of YOUR things! Like the headaches, and troubles caused by certain foods. I'd be whining all the time!
I was going to go take some locks off and boy howdy is it hot and miserable out there! Plus, I couldn't get the cart to move and don't want to drive my car down there so I'll play with the cart in the morning before it gets so hot. I let one lady take the lock off her unit. Chris had marked it off his list but did not remove the lock. Rather frustrating for sure.
The bosses have finally gotten rid of that TMT....(trouble making tenant). We have the other unit coming up in September for sale and then perhaps they will let me know of their decision to keep me on or send me home.1 -

Oh man, I had such a bad leg cramp the other night. Usually if I flex my foot it pulls the cramp out, but it was so strong I couldn't move my foot. I tried to rub it but it was too painful (because of the lipedema). It didn't last long, but it's the first cramp I've had where I wanted to yell OUCH! I am going to have to up my potassium intake. Funny thing is, the cramps only happy when I go to bed! On occasion one of my toes might cramp during the day, but that's rare, not like at night. Almost every night something cramps. I know, more liquids too - but that's not good for my lymphedema! Anyone want to join me on my merry-go-round??? LOL!
My meals have been healthy, but I've been allowing myself some treats. Despite that I've lost 1.2 pounds. God is good!1 -
Since my first heart attack, back in 2014 I think...the cramps are from groin to ankle and have me squealing, crying sometimes and crying out to God...always! I had several of them in the past week and sometimes they are set off by a stretch in my sleep. I hear you on the dehydration thing. I'm working with that here.
I had a message from that lady I let take the lock off her unit, saying I went and put it back on after she left. Duh...it has 2 doors, (10x30) same number on each door and she took one lock off. I took the other side of this morning and she argued with me about my putting the lock back on it. Not a good way to start my day.
I did get the cart going...yay!...and made full rounds, took some other locks off while down there. Have had one rental already and another is coming in shortly. I have only 2 more 10x10s to rent.
I remembered to bring my extra veggies for my omelet for lunch in a bit. Those 4 oz. containers will be perfect for that purpose. I need to sort our little fridge here, and do mine at home in a bad way! Ack! One can tell I've been out of commission for two full weeks. I have a boat load of things to give away, throw away and use up. I need to get busy in there.1 -
Praying for all of you - seems we are all dealing with different health issues - Lord willing we will all feel better soon
As for the goals for August - am on track. Tomorrow is my weigh in and if I can hold this morning weight I should be able to report a good loss and look forward to passing my weight loss goal for the month
1 Timothy 4:1-5
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

Back on track this morning after three days of eating treats. My meals were good through.
The pound I lost I regained, no surprise there. Am grateful to God that it was more than that. I tried to make the calories of the treats fit, but I need to get back on track and use my THM allowed treats rather than the ones that aren't healthy for me.1 -
I had my last Oui dessert cup thing yesterday and am glad they are gone. I have several of the yogurts but they are less calories and trouble.
I did get cornbread again this past week, but have had only one piece in my soup so far. I will have my salad and Hamburger patty for lunch and dinner today. I got more grape tomatoes to do my cucumber salad with and have the baby greens for the base.
Both feet are achy so I am still limited in my activity but have been working on my chores list. I was glad my 4 days at work were a bit less stressful. No laundry being done today...but I'm taking a vacation day Monday, next week and have hope of taking that chore on. It's a biggie!1 -
Staying on track. We cheated on Saturday, but have followed plan since...and Saturday was just the one meal (but it was a doozy).
Seeing a little more movement on the scales. 11.6 pounds left to goal ... But it isn't easy for me to loose. I am seeing a difference in my clothes, but definitely not back to my normal wardrobe. I refused to get rid of my favorites when I gained.1 -
Got another blue sky yesterday - 6th one in 8 weeks the rest are smoke filled. Fires are still way out of control. Not a good way to live being worried whether or not we will be evacuated.
Food is ok - working on staying on plan. Having a friend for dinner - having roast beef, roasted potatoes, carrots, turnips and frozen peas. Plus a coleslaw salad. So will be on plan.
It is only mid morning and I am tired - did not have the best of sleeps - so think I am going to have a power nap - waiting for our daughter to return home from respite. Nice to have the break but sure do miss her.
Matthew 22:37-40
And he said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. on these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.

I had chicken livers and a very thin gravy for lunch. The girl messed up my order...instead of my 5 piece, she gave me the family livers with about 30 livers in the box. Ack. I'm thinking seriously about putting them out in the morning for the cats! I'll "sneak feed".....around front, not at my door. As good as they were, I don't need or want re-runs.
I did not have donuts at sale time...hooya. I made sure all left overs went with Sharon. We had 7 units to sell and netted $4410. I joked with Sharon about splitting and running but we wouldn't get far. Now I'll start the process for our September sale.
We had heavy rain off and on this morning for my drive to work...but now it's clear, sunny and beautiful. I like it a lot!
My feet are still very achy so walking is not the pleasure it normally would be but I am hoping for full recovery very soon. I need to vacuum and get more (much more) work done at home.1 -
We had a good food day today. I even made strawberry shortcake for the guys (I ate a small piece of the angel food cake, but don't like strawberries). Stayed in plan.1
-
Marilyn, I love Mark's version of that passage, he adds "and all your strength or might" to that list.
Oh, Bren, I hope that your feet just keep getting better!
Ugh, I had a chicken biscuit this morning when we went out to get our glasses. Mom and Wade hadn't had breakfast yet. I had my protein drink but that biscuit sure looked good. I'll have to make adjustments throughout the day to make it fit calorie-wise. Not much I can do now about the carbs and fat!1 -
Well, I blew the carbs today! I made spaghetti, then ate a piece of angel food cake for dessert. Oh well, tomorrow will be a bad day and the carbs are my only problem today.

I had a bit of a restless night...awake from about 2:00 until 4:20...and slept until 6:45 so didn't get any chores done before work. I'll aim higher for the weekend and onward!
Thanks so much Kim. They feel better today and I pray I can avoid things that contribute to those major set backs. In all these years of troubles I've only now missed 3 work days because of feet issues. I can't do that on a regular basis!
Got my planned tracking done...will try to stay the course and carry on. Be blessed today, Ladies!1 -
Your carbs still look better than mine, Connie! I need to plan my meals better. Today I just stayed with cold stuff, my protein drinks and for dinner I had chicken and mayo on a tortilla with a sprinkle of Queso cheese. Mixing my fats and carbs again! I should have skipped the tortilla and just ate the chicken and cheese from a bowl!
Walked a bit too.0 -
Well - nervous eating and enjoying what the girls brought for dinner did not make a successful day. I will be back on track today.1
-
Weight isn't really changing. Up a pound or two then down a pound or two. I think I am going to have to do a body shocker and go way down on my calories for a week and see if that can move things along. Around 750-800 a day. I know that's low, but they will be healthy calories. It's too bad that my body won't use my lipedema fat to fuel my body, but at least it can tap into the other fat! I need to really watch my carbs too so my body will have to use my fat as a fuel source. I'll start that one Monday.1
-
Sounds like a solid plan, Kim. I need to get back to my "agony plan"...LOL When my foot was out and I was in so much pain that I skipped dinner 6 times in 10 days. It was beneficial to my weight and my sugar readings. First time I ever had AM readings below 150 4 times in a week.
I brought a couple of eggs foe my breakfast omelet cup, cucumbers to add to my lunch salad and ice for my tea so I'm good to go.
I've been out twice, taking locks off and used my cane to pull a door down. I was going to put new rope on it but I had nothing to cut the knotted mess of the remains of the one on it. I left the new one hanging on the door and if inclined, I'll zip back down there with some scissors.1
