Still not walking, but trying to eat healthfully. Oops, I did eat a Little Debbie Gingerbread Man this morning!

You are so right, Bren. It's amazing how much each body part plays in our lives. Reminds me that we are each a different member of the body of Christ and what we do is vital for the functioning of that body, be we a pinky finger or the brain!

Reminded me of that as well the first time it came to mind....and how each part is important and has a specific purpose.

Oh Gingerbread Men....love them. I haven't bought any. I'd bought pumpkin bars and have the second box in my neighbor bag for give away. I will probably get one of my annual fruitcake bars from Wal-Mart assuming they are available.

With the horrors played out in the news daily, making me heartsick and soul sick....that's a very minor concern.

Pretty good eating to plan today. I was a couple carbs higher than I like, but less than my top goal. Tomorrow is going to be out of plan and enjoying whatever we want to eat. At least we will not be eating red-meat, so that is good for Bill....but I don't have any idea how bad the sodium is going to be.

Hope that you guys all have a great Thanksgiving....at least those of you in the US.

I need to set up some new goals too! I will give it some thought and prayer. I haven't been very successful the last few days in staying away from the treats, although the time I've been in the hospital with Mom my calories were very low (180 cal. protein drink twice and a bag of veggie straws made up one days meals. Sunday I had a protein drink and veggie straws and when I got home late in the evening I ate some turkey casserole and a piece of pumpkin pie. Dinner tonight will be a smoothie since I did chicken nuggets and fries on the way home from the hospital - sigh! So, for December I will need to buckle down.

So we are starting a new month today - December 1 - and I have a few goals. But let me share something first.

I am following a program called Bright Line Eating and in November after many years they have set up a membership - depending on the one you choice - there are 3 options - naturally if you take the all access you get that much more help. I have been following the program for a couple of years - sometimes more off than on though. But it is the way of eating that I know I have to follow as I am a food addict and sugar and flour are the foods that science has proven alters the brain causing lots of cravings. Anyway back on October 1 my hubby and I did a big dive into what we thought we should change and what we came up with is 'no more credit cards' - so they were all cut up and asked the companies to close them down. We have decided that everything has to be paid by cash - not buy on credit at the 1st of the month and pay for it at the end - that works for a lot of people but should you purchase even just one item that doesn't fit into the budge to pay of completely - well the budget goes down the toilet. So for October and November we have being using 'cash only' - and what an eye opener it has been. Didn't realize how many 'yearly' items were coming up for renewal on credit card - but am so glad we are doing this - we feel the Lord blessing us because we are back to having money in its proper place. So saying that I have not been able to join the BLE people on the membership that was offered.

Until today. Yesterday I went to look at my emails and did I get a surprise - someone 'gifted' me with a one year core membership - this gives me some good resources - a 10 week boot camp that I can do as often as I need, being able to be what they call a Bright Lifer which gives me a lot of support. I am so humbled that someone gifted me this gift as the support from everyone doing the program is great - just as the support here is so appreciated.

Now for my goals for December
    (1) follow my BLE eating plan for the month
    (2) start the bootcamp course today (10 week course through BLE)
    (3) start my daily walking in the house with goal of 1,000 steps a month
    (4) listen to a daily sermon from our pastor Mondays through Saturday and on Sunday go to church
    (5) journal each day - my food, my gratitude for the day, and thoughts for the day
    (6) really don't like to pick a number to lose but as there are 4 weeks I want to lose 4 - 8 pounds

So that is what I am working on - look forward to hearing what each of you will be working on

Wow! What a blessing Marilyn! That's wonderful! That was a gift you can truly use.
Credit cards...after spending years rebuilding my credit after a bankruptcy in 1992, I ended up with 17 cards! One, an American Express with a $20,000 limit, I never used! I don't even remember "asking" for it.......Now, I have 4 cards I use, many closed the accounts because I wasn't using them. I do pay off my balances monthly and will pare down my spending more once I retire. With my mobility issues, I do the online grocery orders and pick up...either Wal-Mart or HEB, my Chase Amazon card is used rarely and my Target card is used for my meds deliveries and what I send my son who is in jail.

    My goals for December:
Get with the program, Denda! I have been in so much pain and it has greatly hindered my care for myself. I think I need to give IF a serious shot. Most of my food of late (months actually) has been sodium laden processed junk with little to no nutritional value. Like last night's bacon sandwich and tater tots. If I was to rate my meals, I'd say I've had 3 number 5's to 20 number 2's. With a 5 being worthy of noise. LOL

    So: Today-December 31....I will:
1~ Be grateful for God's mercy and the gift of each day
2~ Be on Restriction: (I like that word) to 2 Meals daily
    3~ No snacking after Dinner
4~ Work on my PT moves and activity charts: (Twice daily for 5-10 minutes)
5~ Apply myself to my home chores and restore order/clear some spaces

Whew - I have to get back on track. Gone 5 days and gained 10 pounds! How in the world? Anyway, I am back on track and hope to get back to my pre-vacation weight.

Working my goals for December and remembering to take the day to the Lord first - my focus is 1st on the Lord, then on eating healthy - the loss of weight will happen when I do this in that order

Back on track today. My ditch digging has left me feeling way less than my best and I will get back on the proper path and move along.

Carbs are a bit high, but other than that, okay. It was a chili and toasted cheese type of day!

    Calories - 989
    Carbs - 110
    Sat Fat - 13
    Cholesterol - 92

Well - at least I have lost 4.5 of those pesky pounds!

Brrr...it's 31 here this morning and I just turned my heat on for the first time. It's 65 in here and too chilly for me. After my painful, rough start to the day, I laid back down for a bit of a nap. I feel better now. I think I just got up too early? For my off days, I don't need to be up at 4:30.

I'll do some home chores today and spiff up my spaces. I got laundry picked up and sorted with a goal of doing a cart tomorrow. I want to get the bathroom and kitchen cleaned, floors done and some collections made...as well as putting up all the groceries still in bags from my last two pick ups. i have a 32 ounce bottle of pumpkin spice creamer to donate...and today would be a good day to do it....when it's so chilly!

I have my jammies on and my fuzzy, warm socks...so am dressed to "work"...LOL

Today is Day 1 of my following my program. So far so good - I committed my food last night when I wrote it in my food journal and this morning before eating to my Lord - committing that I would only eat what I wrote down. I find when I commit to the Lord daily I have great success - it is one way for me to see being obedient - and when I do this I see good results every week.

So I have completed what is my morning habit stack, have done my walking for the day (500 steps only), gotten all the laundry washed, dried and put away (3 loads) and kitchen is cleaned and dinner is prepped. Feeling good with the accomplishments today.

    Have a great day ladies

Stayed within my calorie, carb and saturated fats goals. No exercise except up and down the stairs way too many times bringing all of the Christmas decor upstairs and then carrying the empty boxes and bins back down.

Awesome, Ladies! Marilyn, it's such a blessing, not only to be gifted a year of your program but to HAVE a program that works and YOU are doing the work required for success.

Connie...the stairs will whip a person! I think it's been 5 years since I went up and down the stairs at my complex on purpose. It's only 14 steps up but I needed EMT's to help me get back down! Just kidding but not by much. I may never do that again but I do have the step thing-ee for exercise, a stability ball and a mini trampoline I love...just need to make myself use my "tools"! The only tool I use a lot is my cane and I am sure thankful for that thing!

Laundry is exercise for me...with 3 round trips to the laundry room. I do 2 loads at a time. Long gone are the days I'd do 4 at a time. Especially since we have only 3 functional washers and dryers of the four. Once I pare down the clothes and get on a schedule, it should be an easier task for me. One can hope!

After yesterday's fried chicken dinner, I really needed to make sure that one cheat meal didn't go into a cheat week.

    Today:
    Calories - 1038
    Carbs - 84
Sat Fats - 19 - OOPS! I couldn't correct it from my snacks, so decided to just leave as is.
    Cholesterol - 149

I've done better for several days...two meals, not eating after dinner but I have been digging in the candy bowl too often. Those Millionaires are good but not necessary.

I have all my appointments set. My endo doc had to reschedule so I'll see his nurse again, same with the kidney Dr. They do the Abilene office and another in Dallas. I'll have the two in January and lab work prior, then my PCP in March, cardiologist in April. I'm wanting to get back down to 200...haven't seen that in too many years but believe it's possible. Like Marilyn said, I'd like to get off some of the meds....

Goals - I am working my plan and hitting my daily goals. Today is Day 5 of following my food plan -100% am proud that I have hung there as there have been temptations all around - a squirrely brain that keeps telling me one bottle of pepsi won't hurt OR one donut won't hurt - but it will as it is not on my food plan. And I have committed to my Lord that I would only eat what I have written down today and I want to be in obedience with him. I started this way on December 1 (after many months of not following like I should) and with committing each days of food - prior to eating anything - to the Lord - well I am feeling good that I have been obedient and because of that I have seen the scale move - a fair amount. But I will share that with you on Tuesday when I start Week 2 of following this food plan. I know the Lord is with me on this as it just feels right and so good to be in obedience.

Stayed in goal in all categories, but really had to do some arranging to get there. I was trying to use up some of our left-over turkey (from freezer), so I made turkey and noodles over mashed potatoes for dinner. Whew calories and carbs, but like I said, I was able to work my other meals around it, so it worked.
