LOL! Yep I remember the rear view mirror days, Kim! Thanks for the vote of confidence/encouragement. Let's roll!

Today's FBS is 173. I am very happy to be below 200. It was 135 last night at 10:30. Hooya! My BP is 124/77 so that's good today as well.

I had my 2 meals and a snack of a Laughing Cow wedge with Crunch Master crackers. Dinner was a steak finger sandwich and fries in the Air Fryer and a bowl of peaches. Not really
a fine choice nutrition wise so I'll aim higher today. I missed my veggies. Your chili sounds good, Connie. I have soup in there to dump today....it's past it's prime.

So as this is the Goal Challenge thread, thought I would share what I would like to accomplish this month

    (1) start my day first thing before listening to the new or reading emails I will listen to a sermon from past years from our Pastor. Today listened to on from November 2019 and joy and it so encouraging.

    (2) after listening to the sermon I will spend time in the Word, this month working through Proverbs plus 1 - 2 chapters of 1 Corinthians

    (3) will record all my food to be eaten just before breakfast and eat only what I have recorded

    (4) will walk inside the house aiming for 15 minutes as the goal but more if my mobility issues will allow it.

    (5) will lose 4 - 5 pounds in October. Starting weight for this is 266.8 and goal is to be at 264 or below by Oct 31

So that are my goals - hold me accountable to reaching all of them please.

    Have a great weekend everyone

    - Marilyn

I was a bit low on calories and high on cholesterol (due to eggs in tuna salad). All-in-all, not a bad day, though.

I weighed today and had lost enough to be down in the next lower range. I am now 6 pounds from goal. I am going to blow it bad this week, though. Tuesday is my birthday and I refuse to diet on my birthday. Thursday is the tooth extraction and bone grafts. I know I will be eating "soft" for a few days, so that will be hard to work into our normal diet.

We've been doing leftovers for several days so I made hamburgers (without the bun), tater tots and corn for dinner last night. Yeah, I know, two starchy things, but it just sounded so good!

I've been doing scrappy meals the past few days. My right foot went out last night so am in a lot of pain but praying this is a short episode. I will be resting it a lot, using my cane for support and I do have one of my surgical shoes in there if I need it.
Right now...I need to heat my coffee and enjoy the last of it...I didn't bring anything for lunch since I have tuna pouches, my mackerel and crackers in there. I need to clean the fridge here and at home and dispose of some things.
I was up every hour last night so didn't have an awesome night but it was still a good one.

    Check In:
    Weight: 225.4 (-4.6) (skipped dinner)
    BP: 138/84 68 (immense pain)
    FBS: 127...hooya!

I'm in my surgical shoe this morning, used the compression sock last night.Would like some coffee but don't want to hobble to the kitchen just yet. I rested well except for some kicking and squirming about and extreme pain on getting up so many times. That's a bit of torture.

I need to work on verified letters today or I'd consider staying home. The scale I'm using is one I had in the closet and will do until my new one comes on Saturday or Sunday.

I am having to stay on the soft foods through today, and stay off of the 8 hour on 16 off for my meals through tomorrow. Yesterday I ate almost 1500 calories and had 185 carbs. Today won't be as many calories probably, but the carbs will still be bad. Bill is wanting to get takeout for Kip's birthday today. He was supposed to go with us on Monday, but didn't feel good. I don't know what I will wind up eating tonight, maybe breakfast.

For the next 4 weeks, they told me nothing crunchy or difficult to chew. NO chips, pretzels, fried chicken, nuts, etc. I eat an ounce of pretzels with my lunch everyday, and an ounce of almonds for dinner. Now, I have to find something else that is easy for lunch, and satisfying with low carbs for snack. I thought about raw veggies, but they are all crunchy. It has to do with the bone graft in the mouth and all of the stitches.

I am officially off of the meds after the oral surgery. That means that I can at least get back to my regular meal times. I still have to work with the softer foods, but hopefully soups and pastas will supplement that. The main thing is staying away from crunch, so that should make it a bit easier. Hopefully I can get back to my carbs under 100. If I just took out breakfast for today, that would have done it.

I gained 2 pounds back after the birthday binge and the soft foods. I should be able to get this off. I just want to get back in my clothes and that is starting to happen! WooHoo! I tried on several pairs of dress pants that I had in my closet and they fit. I always buy dress pants a little larger size than jeans. Now, I need to try on my jeans. I have been so used to shorts and yoga or other active pants that I haven't tried on my actual jeans for a while.

So glad the recovery is going well. When I think of soft foods, my first choices would be mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese and uhm....oatmeal with creamer and brown sugar and I'd gain 4-5 pounds in 3 days I figure.

Last night I had a Ramen bowl, with added frozen veggie blend (wanted that broccoli hidden in the freezer)....used only half the season packet and an added packet of no salt beef bullion type stuff, and dropped 2 eggs in when the noodles were about done...covered the pot to poach. Sprinkled green onions in and a bit of margarine. Plumb yummy.

I had another low sugar last night at 9:30...so had a sandwich of pimento cheese and ham. Too much of a "fix" and my FBS was 206 this morning. BP was good at 118/75 but with my new scale...I uhm...was at 231 again. I got on about 4 times and got 3 different numbers so took the 231. I know it needs settle time but I had an idea the found one was off. LOL So back to the board at the Noodle Shed. Hmm....Noodles...Ramen....Yum.

Bren - I did oatmeal for my evening snack (instead of my almonds) I used splenda, vanilla and cinnamon. That's my favorite way to have it....unless I put peanut butter in it, but that adds too many calories. I don't like milk in any type of cereal, I just have never liked the taste of milk.

Your Ramen sounds really good. I ordered a few different frozen veggies that I am going to mix for my lunches. I can sometimes find a blend that I love with peppers, carrots, cauliflower, snow peas and broccoli. I wound up with a broccoli/cauliflower blend, a bag of peppers and a blend that has snow peas, broccoli and carrots. That should wind up similar if I mix in a big bag.

I Love oatmeal but with the addition of margarine, Splenda brown sugar and too much non dairy creamer (like pumpkin spice!) and my healthy choice becomes a delicious bomb. I even use chopped walnuts if I have them. I am nowhere near as disciplined as the rest of you ladies.

The Ramen was so good. I love lots of veggies and the blends are great and convenient. I buy the bags of 3 pepper and onion blend and add that to a lot of things, like my omelets.
HEB has a wonderful selection and so does Wal-Mart normally.
In my HEB order yesterday, they subbed the bag of tater tots (how did that get on my list?)...the 32 Oz. bag was out of stock so they subbed an 80 Oz. pack! What? That's a five pound baby's worth of tater tots. Ack!
They did have the copy paper and hearing aid batteries....oh yay! I rarely think of all the problems of empty shelves and bins, since I rarely venture inside the store.

I did order more hearing aid batteries from Amazon with the office envelopes and new flags. Glad I was on it with the flags as I'd given Chris the last one to replace the ragged one and Zach (boss) asked me to do that and it was already done! Brownie point?

Venture inside....I will have to do that in the next few days at Wal-Mart. Three of my meds are ready but guess that? The insulin is out of stock! I have one pen left of the Novolog and one of the Levimir. At the 140 units a day on the Levimir, each pen is good for 2.5 days, barely. So....hoping it comes in quickly and I can get it. I know I'm not the only one needing it.

All my numbers are back up today. Too much sodium, pain and stress...oh and careless meals.

Sorry I haven't popped in her in a few days! I give up the bedroom when Wade needs to rest before work and I'm not always finished with what I wanted to get to, then forget to go back once he's doing his work!

Here's a link to an article by Suzy Cohen on how cheese can cause headaches, increased heart rate, anxiety...
    https://suzycohen.com/articles/heres-how-cheese-causes-headaches-with-tyramine/?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=How+cheese+%F0%9F%A7%80+causes+headaches&utm_campaign=21-10-12+Cheese+Headaches&vgo_ee=4gW8KwsLjwz8l7hegf6JZvlMy%2BOWWuyaZunZiCXh6gI%3D
I found it very interesting since I am prone to headaches and dairy (cheese) is one of those things I love but struggle with. It does cause other side effects for me that this article didn't mention, but then dairy contains casein also, which is what I am allergic to, and I think that's what causes the side effect that I have.

Got my second shot yesterday and am feeling very tired today and my arm hurts, but other than that I am doing alright!

Kim - Hope you are feeling better today.

I was too low in calories, and well within all other categories. A few tooth issues, and just didn't feel much like eating. I did get some good soft steamed veggies and some pasta with left over chili. It tasted good, anyway.

Oh, boo. I hope that mouth starts acting right soon! You don't get a whole lot of calories as it is, so getting less will probably tire you out too.

Still feeling tired and am a bit headachy today, but feeling better than I did yesterday.

I did have a piece of pumpkin pie after my beef stew last night and plan to have one for lunch today. So far it hasn't made a difference in my weight, but that could take a couple of days.

I start longing for pumpkiny stuff this time of the year. I may allow myself one SF pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving....and one fruitcake log at Christmas. No sugar free option for those. I usually get them for myself and Sharon.

Yesterday was a snacky type day. I'd cooked baby lima beans on Tuesday, and cooked some fried cabbage with onion yesterday so mixed it in my bowl Yummy! Dinner was some leftover chili with mac and cheese. That too was good and not a huge amount which is almost acceptable.

The bug man is due to come today (useless in my opinion) so I spiffed up a bit. I didn't have the energy for vacuuming tho but did clear the table and picked up some laundry. I should be healed enough by Sunday to do more chores and be able to walk without much pain. I am SO thankful this was a short run compared to the last time when I was out of commission for 2 full weeks with the left foot.

Bren - I make a pumpkin butter with canned pumpkin, a little sugar free pancake syrup and pumpkin pie spice. My recipe said to make in crock pot, but I found that it really works better to just cook a while in a small saucepan on top of the stove. It is so good, and has hardly any calories. I need to make some. I love it with a little bit of cream cheese on a slice of toast, or a spoon full in a cup of yogurt.

Today was kind of low calorie, but everything else fit into the perimeters. It was turkey taco day, but I couldn't do the taco shells, so I put over a helping of hash browns (no oils used) I had left over from last night. I really enjoyed that, so I will keep it in mind for later. I will be glad to be able to have the "crunchy" stuff again, but with the soreness I understand.

We are going to head to my Mom's Sunday after church. It has been since the end of May since I have seen her. I never wait that long, but right after the last visit was when Bill's foot started acting up and it wasn't a possibility to get away. I think he will do fine, but I will probably do the driving (4 hours). I wanted to take a couple of days and go to Branson, but we just couldn't work it in. I have a dentist appt the next day after we will get home.

WooHoo - I decided that I needed to get out the jeans and put up my shorts and larger sized jeans. I had a "try-on" session with my old jeans and they all fit! Even though I am about 6 pounds from goal, the jeans are fitting. They are all mid-rise, and I would prefer high rise now that they are available again, but I am in no hurry for more jeans since I have all my jeans from before retiring from Old Navy. I do still get my employee discount, and still have the credit card where I can earn free clothes, so may buy some later. Right now, I just feel like I am getting back to myself! WooHoo, again!

Oh, that pumpkin butter sounds so good! I've been making pumpkin smoothies using my coconut milk, pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla protein mix. It's pretty good. I add some spinach to it, but I think it takes away from that pumpkin pie flavor.

Oh, something THM does a lot is add blended up frozen okra to stuff. For some reason that seems to raise the metabolism and you really don't taste it. I add it to smoothies, and it does make them a bit slippery, but I don't taste the okra at all.

Was down to 234.8 this morning. Not sure why, but am praising the Lord for this good gift!

Hey Kim, You're tapping my bumper my friend! LOL Hooya!

I have been going to bed early for awhile now. The shoulder and foot pain detract from TV time and since I've been sitting for the better part of 11 hours at that point, I am ready to get "flat".
I'm still seeing most FBS readings below 200 and am very thankful for that. I do need to work on balance, activity and that sodium/carb thing that still presents a problem.

    Today's stats:
    233
    149/83/65
    167
I will get to work on my "issues" today....nobody can do it for me. I do have great support, resources and the best Personal Trainer ever....in Jesus and my Team here. I am blessed.

I'm so glad that I don't have the balance problems you and Connie have. It's really hard to cut back in several areas. Me, I just have to leave certain foods out of my diet and watch my sat fats and calories. I am still trying to figure out how to get my carbs and fats separated from my meals, and most of the time I do alright, but I need to get this down better so I can get this weight moving downward better. I was up a half a pound from yesterday, so you must have hit the brakes, Bren, and shot me backwards! LOL! It's been a long time since we've been this close in weight. I liked it better when we were chasing each other in the 220's!

Will get my walk in before lunch today, we have a friend coming to visit for a bit this afternoon.

LOL...I DID...tap the brakes. Sorry! You are tailgating. Yes...on the balance thing. We have to be on guard always.

I need to call the pharmacy about my Novolog. I started the last pen today and really hope they give me 90 days on it like I need. My Dr. has ok'd refills but I don't know how he ordered it.

OH NO! My insurance will no longer pay for Novalog, it's not on the "formulary" and of course I had an oriental pharmacist trying to explain this to me with my hearing issue having me near tears and him ready to hang up on me. ACK! I need to call my insurance....I think I'll try an e-mail first. I am NOT up to another phone struggle.
The pharmacist asked "do you have a hearing aid"...I said yes...and they lie when they say it's phone compatible. It depends on which way the wind is blowing.
Spent 45 minutes on the phone with other non English persons and still don't know any more than I did except I will be out of this medication in 3 days.

Bren - Praying for the insurance mix-up. If you have been using it, it doesn't seem right that all of a sudden you can't get it anymore.

Right now, I am trying to figure out Bill's prescription plan for next year. I always just use the cheapest because I don't take any meds, but Bill's went up $40 a month for next year, and doesn't pay nearly as well. I found one $10 cheaper that pays a lot better, so he will probably just switch. I love how the medicare website has the tool where you can see the total yearly cost on all of the available part D plans. It really makes a difference on Bill's meds. If he went with the cheapest plan, like I have, it would cost him about $300 more a year than the more expensive plan that basically all of his meds are free.

Thanks Connie! I will try to not worry over it and pray for a speedy resolution to this new issue. I sent a message to both my insurance and to my Dr. I can do musb better with e-mails than the phone thing.
That's great that you can do the searching and choosing. I need an advocate too! I am lost and have stayed with Caremark/CVS since I first signed up in 2019....and the cost went up last year. I don't have any advantage plan. I hate being on the phone when I can't hear/understand more than 5 of 19 words.

I rested better last night and slept in until 6:15. Getting ready for my coffee and planning the day.
Enjoy your visit with your Mom and the time away. See you here when you return.

Connie, have you tried GoodRX or SingleCare. I've had some prescriptions be a bit less with the GoodRX and it's super easy to use, just go to the site on your phone, look up the med and then show the pharmacist the price, she/he will let you know if it's cheaper than your insurance.

Say "Hey," to Mom for us!

Oooo, got chilly on us. I was cold last night so had Wade put my weighted blanket on the bed. Yippee!
