I'm still waiting for an update/new scrip from my Endo doc on the Novolog issue. I do know I can't be the only one struggling with this as so very many use the same meds I do. God knows all the details.

I love it when it gets cooler! I do still use a fan at night all year long tho. We're having mid to high 80's right now, for the next week. I'm OK with that. The mornings at 60 are wonderful.

I didn't feel well this morning but that's a common occurrence of late. I am better now and will have a busy day tho I hope we have no sale. One, we have no contract on so can't sell...the other two are going to try too pay something. I did NOT get donuts today and I don't care!

I need to put office cleaning on my to do list. This place needs some attention and it would give me some activity at least.

Kim - If Bill switches to this new plan, all of his regular meds will be no charge. I have used both GoodRX and SingleCare when looking for prices for some meds, but they haven't been as good as the insurance rates on his meds. I may see using them for myself if I have to take prescriptions. Right now, I don't take any, so they are not an issue...that is why I stick with the very cheapest part D.

Bren - Bill and I don't have advantage plans. We have Supplemental insurance (Medi-Gap) and Part D (Prescription). The Advantage plans are definitely less expensive and cover prescriptions and some other things that aren't covered by our plan - but on major issues, the supplemental is much better. Bill has definitely benefited from the supplemental plan instead of the Advantage plan.

I got home to messages from my Dr. and the pharmacy! I was very glad. The mix up was over generic for some reason? Anyway, I have my Novolog supply restocked and 3 refills on it. Whew.
I'm not sure how things will be when I retire...so will probably need some assistance making changes. I don't qualify for extra help due to my savings. I'd rather have my savings and thank God for it, but don't want to use it all for medications.

I had a bit of a restless night but finally went back to sleep about 4 AM for a nap so hope to stay alert today. I'll stay busy at the office and that should help.

We have good insurance through Wade's work. I'm not looking forward to having to figure all of that out when he retires!

Those things require more brain work than I can handle some days, Kim. I will seek assistance when the time comes for it to save myself some irritation due to the hearing and confusion.

When we were first going on 100% Medicare, I found an agent that worked with a bunch of different companies and she was amazing at helping us choose plans and sign up for our final picks. I actually found her on the Medicare website. They have so much great information there - you might want to check it out yourself, then see about an agent that handles all of your top 3 picks and see what they say.

I had my dentist appointment today and he said that everything looked good and took out a couple more stitches, but said that it is imperative that I stick with soft food for another 2 weeks. It's so funny, the reasoning that he gave me was almost word for word the reasoning that Bill's doctor gave him for staying in the boot for another 2.5 weeks after the stitches came out. I almost laughed at him, but didn't want to have to explain the whole thing. I probably had a silly grin, though.

No exercise today. I am getting way too lazy!

Glad you had a moment of humor, even if it wasn't shared. I like that...and have many moments in my days that make me smile...in joy, remembrance and in gratitude and fun.

I hit my calorie goal yesterday tho it wasn't a balanced day much. I had 2 sandwiches for dinner as nothing appealed to me that required much effort. One was a grilled cheese, the other a ham (high sodium) on 45 calorie bread. I use the Pam butter spray instead of margarine on the grilled cheese. It was yummy. Could have had a grilled Ham and Cheese I reckon?

HEB had the Moon Drop grapes on sale and I snagged some. I don't do fruit often but fit it in on occasion. I got some Fugi apples too. I was longing for "sugar" so natural is the best choice. I got a bag of shaved Brussels sprouts to play with. The butternut squash was out of stock. Both were on sale as well. I'd had some roasted squash the night before and for lunch yesterday and wish I'd gotten more of that since the butternut was unavailable. I do love my veggies.

Activity was mostly work related and I have files to purge ahead....and other "putter work". It feels good to tackle and actually finish a task. Hope to work on this shoulder today...on purpose.

We found my Dash Chaffle maker the other day so I've done chaffles twice. I did eggs, mozzarella, pepperoni and spinach. Yum!

Those grapes look so strange, Bren. Wonder how they came up with that??? But they are delicious. Good job and getting that natural sugar!

Connie, so glad that things are going in the right direction with your mouth! I smile sometimes too when my doctors sound like they are reading from a manual, unfortunately they probably are!

Well, getting reading to go practice some singing and see how it sounds in our new building.

    Love y'all.

This morning before work, I did up breakfast taco filling to use with my LC tortillas. I put some pepper/onion blend and some of that 5 pound bag of tater tots in the AF. Cooked the sausage in the toaster oven. Smashed the tot mix in a skillet, added half the sausage, 6 eggs scrambled, topped with cheese. Have enough for 8 tortillas. Hooya.

I plan to use the rest of the sausage in egg roll in a bowl with my slaw mix, onion and SF veggies. Yum

I still have some pea salad left, Connie. I made it Tuesday so it may go to waste. I have some crock pot pork I need to finish off tonight before I have to toss it too.

Well, I kind of messed up my calories for the day. I had a Greek Yogurt in my tracker but just wasn't hungry for it. That lowered the calories to under 800! Oh well, it is just one day.

Bren - Don't let that pork go to waste, meat is way to expensive for that. The freezer is my friend....single serve containers. I used to do that all of the time and take to work with me.

I had a restless night again with the shoulder pain especially....didn't take my Pain meds (Tylenol/Codeine) but should have. Bedtime sugar was only 93 so I didn't take the full PM Levemir dose. Glad to see the lower numbers. However...my FBS is 220 so perhaps I should do the full PM dose. I will next time. I recently had 2 lows in the night with one being 58 and I don't want to dip so much!

I had a good day at work yesterday, another 3 rentals and am now with 1 10x15 and 1 10x30 and that's on hold for UPS. They rent annually at this time.

    Today's stats:
    231.8
    157/84 76
    220
I will work on my goals chart some today and get some scheduled movement/activity in. I want to start my "exit work"...as these last weeks will fly...then so will I...

OK...had half of the left over pork with some spaghetti and Queso for lunch. It was OK but I won't mind much, wasting the last 4 oz. if I toss it. My produce waste brings me much shame for sure! Yes...prices are crazy and will become more so and I need to reign myself in prior to my retirement. I counted the days this morning...69...hooya!

I was totally bad today with crispy, crunchy stuff. I decided that if I made sure that it stayed on my good side and chewed it well, that it couldn't hurt. I had an ounce of pretzel twist (broken into bite size pieces) for dinner, and an ounce of almonds for my snack. They tasted so good! I don't know if I will make it a daily thing again, but it sure was good for today.

That's what I did when I had a tooth pulled, Connie. I actually ended up losing two of my bottom teeth on one side and couldn't chew on that side. When I finally got my implant I had to remind myself that it was okay to chew on that side! Hope you don't have to go long enough that way to forget that side altogether! LOL!

Eating well and going to get some walking in today.

I lowered my dose of Metoprolol which controls my heart rate, so will see how that goes. I was taking one and a half pills but just put the one pill in my pill keeper to see if I could tolerate just the 25mg. So far today it's been fine, but then I haven't done anything to raise my heart rate! LOL!

After my appointment yesterday AM and the hiking about (Wee Walks X 6) I rested the remainder of the day, other than unloading/reloading the dishwasher.

Oops....just checked my BP and it was 132/101 65. Yikes. I'll check again shortly. That's really abnormal for me. At the Dr.'s office yesterday, it was 188/91....the 142/88 the second time. No likey.
I hope your HR does OK with the 25mg. I do the 25 twice a day, 40mg Lisinopril, Spirono/hctz and Amlodopine twice a day (am out of that) With my supplements and 2 insulin's, I have only 18 and I think your meds list is even longer. I need to repack my things today...

Oh wow! Checked the BP again and it's 117/72 65. That high number was after a walk to check mail and 2 more kitchen trips for coffee and insulin. No wonder I feel whipped a lot! I'll keep tabs on myself.

Stayed in all ranges except low in calories yesterday. It just seems to keep sat fats and carbs in line, I have to lower calories. I am not easily finding the answers, but keep trying.

Missy, so good to see you!

Connie, it is so hard to balance things. I'm doing pretty well at keeping my sat fats below 15, and I really like to keep them around that 13 and lower mark, which is what the nutritionist told me to do to keep my cholesterol down. I don't see how you can lower your calories much more!

Will be getting my walk in right after I am done here. Pretty much just got blood work done when I was at the doctor's office this morning. She said the walking is probably what has helped to bring down my swelling.

Bren, that's not good to have it jump like that! Mine was 136/80 at the doctor's office, but I have so much pain while they are taking it it probably makes it jump. They squeeze my lipedemic arm and that is a lot of pain for me. I told one of the nurses that once and she said, "Oh, lots of people have pain when we take their blood pressure." Argh! I don't know, do you have a bullet I can bite on while you do this??? I got a flu shot too, now that girl about jabbed that thing through my arm - ouchy! They don't usually hurt, but she applied a lot of pressure! Oh well.

    Have an awesome Wednesday, gals!

Today was a little more successful. I know that I went over the sodium, but since it was me and not Bill, it really isn't an issue. I got my calories up to 955, so a little bit better and I kept everything else in balance.

OH WOW! I ate a can of chicken noodle soup for lunch (25% lower sodium). It had 1650mg of sodium! I bought 2 cans the other day thinking they would make a different lunch. I'm glad I didn't stock up! That's high even for me.

Thank you Missy! I know you can...relate! You've had trials by fire with yours...and other issues. That's behind my decision to retire the end of this year. It's been more stressful, with more pain than when I injured the right one. Same scenario....trying to get to work on terrible ice.

Ouch Kim! I had that issue Monday and Tuesday at both my appointments and I know your's had to be even worse than mine! I've been thinking of getting my flu shot and will...soon. I've done mine at HEB the past couple of years and at Wal-Mart as well. Glad your visit is done and hope you get lab results soon. Have you considered a cane? Mine adds stability and balance and has really been a help. I don't always use it but am glad to have it when I need it.
My PCP visit went OK...nothing new to report. She was glad to see my A1C had come down to 7.8, no changed. She too, wanted me up on the high table and like at the cardiologists, I said can't do that. My hip and back want no part of that. I see her again in 4 months the card. in 6.

Connie, I hear you! Their idea of reduced sodium is a joke on some things. I know sodium is a preservative and flavor carrier but gee whiz, that's nuts! They have a low sodium one but it's costly, and the potassium is crazy in it, 160 calories and 120 sodium. About $3.19 a can. I guess you could do your own with some noodles and unsalted broth and Mrs. Dash spices?

My soup I made yesterday will have to be tossed. My chicken was too old apparently. Maybe freezer burned? Oh well....it's not the first thing I've wasted.
I did a burger on my GF grill yesterday, toasted the bun as well and it was very good. I have another for lunch today. I want some cucumber salad but HEB didn't have the tomatoes I ordered. I'll go in search for some.

So sorry about your soup. I always label the foods that I put in my freezer with the date that it goes in there. I bought chicken breasts yesterday and need to get them separated, labeled and frozen. It is kind of weird because I thought I used me next to the last chicken breast when I made soup on Tuesday. Yesterday I was digging through the freezer for a container of cool whip and found another gallon size bag with chicken breasts. Now we are going to have to be eating more chicken breasts!

Talking about watching sodium, it is amazing to me how if you buy frozen chicken breasts they are full of sodium. I like the ones that you buy pre-frozen, because they are smaller, but just can't buy them anymore.

I have found that for Bill, I always make my soups from scratch, and I only bought the two cans of soup for my lunches and am not too worried about the sodium content. They were on sale and looked like a different option with "eating soft".

We do a pot of soup in the crockpot and it lasts for several days during the week. We do the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, chicken breasts, frozen mixed veggies and some spice. There is probably tons of sodium in it, but none of us are watching that, so I'm not too concerned. The chicken tends to soak up the liquids so we end up eating it over rice or potatoes after the first day! I did put some rice in mine last night, a little added fiber! I would make it differently if it were just for me, but this is how Wade and Mom like it. My SIL's mother had a terrible problem with too low sodium, they just couldn't get enough into her!

Awesome job getting those calories up and keeping things in balance! I guess you could just use that menu over and over - heeheehee!

Eating pretty good and walking each day, even when I don't want to!

Kim - your soup wouldn't have a lot of sodium if you made your own cream of chicken soup. I do that when I make chicken and noodles. That may be tomorrow's dinner.

One thing that I realized today is that I can increase my almonds a little to increase my calorie count if I don't need to worry about the carbs. Also, Greek yogurt doesn't have sat fats, so I just added a few almonds to my yogurt. That still didn't get me to 1000, but considering that it was about 860 to start with, I did get it bulked up a bit.
