Hi all... got up super early and went to the office for a couple hours. Cleared out before the other gals got in. Wore a mask, tried not to touch much of anything outside my own office, and used a clorox wipe on anything I did touch. Hopefully I didn't leave any germs for them! Packed up a box of work and brought it home, but I admit I'm pretty wiped out already. I just had an ezekiel english muffin with a smidge of PB and an orange and will go back to bed for a while.
You two have me thinking of yogurt so I did order a larger container of unsweetened vanilla almond milk yogurt. Never been a big fan of unsweetened yogurt but my taste buds have changed so much over the years maybe I will like it now. Figure I can put a dollop on my oats with fruit it should taste fine.
Oops, can't go back to bed until my broccoli is done. Glad I remembered I put it in the oven. Craving good healthy food and hopefully it will help my body fight off this bug.
I miss Austin, too!
Your plan looks great today, Magic. I have tried the peeling chickpeas thing but it didn't make enough difference to me to justify the effort. I love roasted chickpeas and you definitely have to peel to roast so I rarely make them. It's really not that hard and I think I came up with or read a trick at one point some years ago, maybe rolling on a paper towel or something but I can't remember now. I'm just a very lazy cook unless I'm really in the mood.
Okay going to check my broccoli, take my vitamins, down a dose of nyquil and get back to bed. I have been awful about taking my vitamins lately and of course now that I'm sick I am back in the habit. Doh!
Not sure what my plan is for today really. I haven't been that hungry with this cold. Will probably have a salad and some of the roasted broccoli later, and maybe a banana. Still downing lots of herbal tea and water.
Carla, how is Ruby doing?
0 -
Happy Friday!
Ruby is a little sore and she was sick twice today, but other than that she's doing okay. The Vet said it wasn't deep and the stitches come out Tuesday. They charged us over $700. ugh.
The hummus came out pretty good, but my fault, I normally blend my hummus in my vitamix which makes it completely smooth. I used the food processor and didn't like the texture as much. You're right Nance, I didn't use salted roasted cashews. I have raw cashews but decided to just go with a few tablespoons of tahini. I used kale for my greens because that's what I had on hand. I'll re-do it in the future with raw cashews and proper greens to give it a good try.0 -
Carla, I'm glad to hear Ruby is doing okay. Getting sick is probably reaction to the anesthesia. Our puppers are so worth it but ouch on the bill. Yeah, my hummus is not smooth at all in the food processor but that's why I call it bean dip so my brain isn't expecting the hummus texture. I may get a vitamix later this year. I also need a new food processor. Mine is really old and works fine, but there's a small crack in the bowl. Buying a new bowl is about half the price of an entirely new unit so it makes no sense to buy just the replacement bowl.
Yesterday I peeled 4 extra large lemons, popped out the seeds and threw the sections in the blender. Poured that into an ice cube tray (it was the exact right amount that was pretty cool) and froze the cubes. This morning I whisked the mushroom powder into a mug of hot water then added a lemon cube. It's not bad at all this way and I can see having a cup every day without a problem. I'm just using half the little scoop of the mushroom powder as I don't think I need more than that to meet Dr. F's recommendations.
I've read you can blend the entire lemon including peels, but the store was out of organic lemons so I peeled them. I will try the whole lemons next time when I have organic.
I bought a bag of petite gold potatoes a couple weeks ago and figured I better get them cooked so I just cut in half and boiled since I wasn't up for a lot of cooking. Last night I had a big pile of lettuce greens topped with carrot, beet, radish, pinto beans, and 2 of the baby potatoes which were still warm. Very tasty. I just topped it with some dijon mixed with a splash of bragg's but I'll try to make a proper salad dressing today.
Feel pretty okay this morning. Still a bit stuffy and have occasional coughing fits, but mostly I feel better. My head is just heavy and I'm fatigued. I will probably go back to bed for a little while after I eat a bite, but after that I imagine I'll be up for getting some work done at my desk.
I'm having more like two servings of starches the past few days rather than the one permitted on the 6 week plan. Seems like that's what I have wanted since I got this stupid cold.
Plan for today...
B - ezekiel english muffin with 1/4 avocado and sliced tomato
L - big ol' salad (with dressing if I get around to it otherwise with dijon and braggs) and will sprinkle with some pumpkin seeds, an apple
D - big ol' bowl with cooked greens, some of the potatoes, roasted broccoli, pinto beans
Guess that means I better get my greens cooked this evening. I am going to make a stir-fry of bok choy, asian spinach and sugar snap peas, and another stir-fry of collard greens, beet greens and stems, onion. Those should last me most of the week. I'll put off laundry until tomorrow. Not really feeling up to hauling baskets up and down two flights of stairs yet.

Sorry, this is just a really fast post...
Happy Ruby is on the mend...and YOU, too, Mihani..sounds like you have a bit more energy...that's a good sign.
Sooooooooo, each morning when I had coffee WITH NUTPOD CREAMER, HEATED AND FROTHED TO PERFECTION...
... a little someone sat next to me asking for a taste...well, really that was my fault, since I started it. So, that is how it went UNTIL...
...I went black...oh no...(Carla, Lulu would like your phone number...I told her it was YOUR FAULT)! lol
...I just show her the cup, as she sits and went for her baby indulgence...and she then just goes...WTF? Ok, she doesn't go WTF? But she gives me a look.
It is rather funny.
But, I just put in a new batch of sweet potatoes so she will have some before I leave for work.
That's it...later, dollies. MY SCALE IS MOVING ...yes!
0 -
LOL please convey my apologies to Lulu! She's an unintended victim in all of this. Yay to the scale moving!!
Mihani, I use my Vitamix nearly every day. I love it. If I had to pick 3 appliances it would be Vitamix, Instant Pot and Air Fryer (it is huge and doubles as a toaster oven). Interesting about the blended lemons...I will try that next shop when I can get organic.
I succumbed and had some salt yesterday. Paying for it on the scale...up a pound. Today is a new (salt-free) day!
Ruby is feeling much better and is full of energy. Joe has taken Ruby and Radar for walks wearing his mask while I've been walking on the treadmill. There is so much smoke here. It is supposed to dissipate tomorrow and there's rain in the forecast for this Monday and Tuesday. Everything here is super dry and stressed.
Plan for today:
an hour on the treadmill with a good book
b- yogurt blended with frozen blueberries and 1/3 of a banana
l - I just realized I don't have a plan for lunch! greens, balsamic vinaigrette and roasted veggies with garbanzos I guess....will make more tu-no for tomorrow
d - fajita bowl, cantaloupe w/ cinnamon.
1 -
My plan today...
black coffee
banana
homemade yogurt and 1/4 GF Bob's Red Mill Museli 120 cal for 1/4 cup and I measured
corn and bean salad with red onion, celery, cukes, carrots, mint, cilantro, 2 T raisins for about 5 servings, corn, cannellini beans, olives, pickled jalapenos, baby bell peppers ( I think that's it)...two corn steamed tortillas
watermelon
more corn and bean salad no more tortillas
one oatmeal cookie...I think I put the recipe up there...if you need it again, ask. and tea
At work right now...working with children...adults that behave like 12 year olds...or junior high mean girls. It's ridiculous. I'm listening to Chelsea and trying to stay above their pettiness.
Later, dolls!0 -
Hahaha... beware Lulu's wrath. Yay for the scale moving, Magic!
Carla, glad to hear Ruby is feeling better. Dogs sure bounce back quickly. That's difficult when you are supposed to keep them quiet though. Hope you get that rain.
I wasn't up for making a nut based dressing so I just did this... https://shaneandsimple.com/oil-free-salad-dressing/ I am out of oregano. Believe that? So I just used a heaping teaspoonful of TJ's 21 seasoning salute in place of the oregano and basil. I'm sure it will be fine as salad dressing recipes are pretty forgiving.
I forgot that I also had a 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries (nuked for 30 seconds) sprinkled with cinnamon and ground chia/flax at breakfast. I'm not sure if I will cook the greens tonight. I went back to bed twice and haven't had lunch yet. I'll probably just add some of the potato and roasted broccoli and beans to my salad and call it a day. I'm not really hungry yet. The cold sucked but it worked well as an appetite suppressant.
The living room furniture I purchased back in February, that was supposed to arrive in May, is on the way. I don't even remember what it looks like so this will be fun. At least they had deferred payment until delivery.

The salad dressing was tasty and so easy I think it will be in regular rotation. I did swap out date sugar dissolved in hot water for the maple syrup. I have nothing against maple syrup but since I'm trying to stick to Dr. F's 6 week plan I'm avoiding it for now. I didn't cook my greens since I didn't get to eating lunch until 4:00. I will get that done tomorrow. I had another half cup of blueberries for dessert, with a dollop of yogurt. The vanilla unsweetened yogurt was just fine sprinkled with some quality cinnamon.
Off for yet another nap. I am feeling better and better, and so glad I made myself rest and recover. I usually push through and end up sick for much longer. I think by tomorrow I should be pretty close to normal.
The furniture is nice. I kind of remember picking it out now.
0 -
Well, I'm not back to normal but still improving day by day. After breakfast I got my greens chopped and cleaned ready to cook, did some laundry, a little straightening up of the house, and then I was worn out and had to take a nap. Got up and managed to get up to my desk and work for a couple hours and not feeling too bad at this point. I just took a break to eat a bowl of berries with yogurt and cinnamon and will get back up there. I plan to be in bed by 8:30 though. I want to put in a full day at the office tomorrow if at all possible, but I'm prepared to bail out if I start feeling worse. I'll get the greens cooked tomorrow after work.
B - ezekiel english muffin with avocado and sliced tomato, bowl of berries with yogurt, ground chia/flax, a couple walnuts, cinnamon
L - big ol' salad (red and green leaf, leftover potato and roasted broccoli, radish, carrot, beet, vinaigrette)
D - not too hungry so I had another bowl of berries with some yogurt and cinnamon (I think I'm hooked)
I forgot to weigh myself when I first started on the 6 week plan but from last time I weighed myself I'm down 10 pounds. I'll take that! I have a couple pairs of jeans that now fit but are a bit snug for comfort so that's great motivation to stick with it and lose another 5 or 10 so I can wear them. I think I still need to lose about 20 to 25 total yet.
Better get back to work.
0 -
Congrats on the 10 pounds lost, Mihani...amazing job!!!! Hope you're feeling much better today.
How are you doing Nance? Too bad about the 'children' at work. Send them to their rooms!
I succumbed to some snacking urges this weekend, and then got my period, so suddenly the overwhelming cravings made more sense. Back on it this week!
Forgot to soak beans for tu-no, so will soak overnight and make tomorrow.
B - 3 cups coffee, black
L - greens, roasted veggies, Dr. Fuhrman Caesar salad dressing, half a cantaloupe with cinnamon
D - chili i think0 -
Hi Carla! Oh I remember those days. Post-menopause has made life so much easier for me. I have yet to try the tu-no salad. I am pretty sure you put it in the recipes thread so I'll check that out. I'm finally starting to enjoy cooking again. Maybe it's the kitchen remodel.
Feeling better today. Made it through about 7 hours at work then came home to nap. Made my sauteed greens with onions and the stir-fry and a pot of rice. Between those and my salads I'm set for the rest of the week. Going back to bed and really hope that tomorrow I will be back to my old self after one more night of good rest. Maybe by Thursday I'll be ready to hit the treadmill in the mornings again.
B - oats with yogurt, blueberries, chia/flax mix, a couple walnut halves, cinnamon
L - big ol' salad same as yesterday
D - a tiny bit of the sauteed greens and onions (had to taste), and a bowl of rice and stir-fry
Stir-fry has cauliflower, bok choy, snow peas, asian spinach, just a little bit of low-sodium soy sauce, garlic. I wanted ginger and I'm out of that too! Apparently my renewed interest in cooking is depleting my spice cabinet. Tastes great but looks boring. Needed some red pepper to brighten it up.
0 -
Up, coffee down the hatch, showered, dressed...off to Sprouts and to pick up my water bottle at work, forgot it yesterday.
DAY will be spent cleaning kitchen and working on hot spots in the house...clutter zones...cleaning gal comes tomorrow. House has to be in pretty good order, since peeps will be here helping me out after SURGERY next wed.
Gals, you're killing your programs. GREAT JOB to the two of YOUZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Back later, dollies.0 -
Hope you got all your chores done today, Magic, and that they weren't too hard on your knees. Glad you have people who can come over and help after your surgery.
I think Carla has kindle unlimited not sure if you do, Nance. While I was kind of recliner-bound for several days getting over my lovely cold, I downloaded several free with kindle unlimited WFPB books and cookbooks. I just skimmed through them for the most part but found a few recipes I want to try and picked up some new tips and motivation. One that I found that I'm pretty happy about is by Jill McKeever, and I know Magic is a fan of hers. It's all oil-free sauces and dressings. Always groovy to find easy and tasty new recipes for sauces and salad dressings.
OMGee Good Oil-Free
So I have lots of new things to try and most use ingredients I usually have on hand.
I realized driving home today and thinking about dinner that I was so happy to have food prepped that I actually look forward to eating.
Made it through a whole day of work today. Finally! First time in a week. I definitely feel much better now just a bit of a lingering cough and stuffiness, and still more tired than I should be. Going to take it easy this evening and get another good sleep.
Meals today pretty much same as yesterday. I'm glad I don't mind eating the same things for several days in a row, as long as they are good.

Thanks for all the tips, Mihani.
Ladies
I am up...tired...but I almost got everything done yesterday...I did get the kitchen cleaned up (dishes and there were tons washed and put away) so she can CLEAN.
I still have some things to do this morning (hot spots that need to be decluttered...shouldn't take long).
I am loving my yogurt and 1/4 cup muesli with a touch of jam. I will still make almond milk...but this is a nice change. What I am thinking is my yogurt does come out runny, but isn't that really "European Style"...the thick kind is called something else. (just asked Siri...it's GREEK) In any case, I am just amazed at the final cost...so cheap
Milk 64 oz WESTSOY $4.00
Cultures for Health --one packet to make 32 oz yogurt: $2.50
$6.50 divided by 4 (four pint mason jars yogurt = total product)
$1.60 for 16 ounces of fresh, pure yogurt. VEGAN...cuz we know how crazy high the price is for VEGAN yogurt in the stores. Now there is a way to heat the soy milk to the proper temp, reduce and then you get that THICK GREEK YOGURT.
There is a way to use your final product to make the next batch. I have not done that yet. Also, you could use probiotics capsules...haven't done that yet either.
Today's plan...
coffee...still black. LOL
WATERMELON hoping this one is good
yogurt and muesli and jam
rice and broccoli
a BIG salad with tons of stuff
oatmeal cookie
PS...that yogurt is so good for gut health, right?
***********************

Glad to hear you got all your stuff (almost) done, Magic. Are you anxious about your surgery?
Still getting steadily better day by day but still tired. Made it through a whole workday today again at least. Stopped at the small grocery to pick up some things since my lettuce didn't last this week. Some weeks it is great all week. Others it starts getting pretty sad by Wednesday. Got a big box of spring mix and a smaller one of arugula, a bag of cole slaw that will be easy to throw in wraps or on top of salads. Package of ezekiel tortillas for wraps. I will have to get some more stuff this weekend since my salad prepper friend is out of town for two weeks and I have to make my own salad. Grumble, grumble.
Also got some more greens and a cantaloupe.
B - oats with yogurt, chia/flax mix, blueberries, couple walnut halves
L - salad (red and green leaf, radish, carrot, beet, leftover cooked greens and onions, vinaigrette)
D - leftover stir-fry and brown rice with a sprinkle of nooch, a banana
Missing Austin, hawksgirl and tlmindo!

I forgot to mention that I added a bag of steamed edamame to my stir-fry so there are my beans this week.0
-
Did something really stupid...
So, in pain a lot at work...using CBD cream...anyway, one of the salesman suggest marijuana gummies.
Ok, if it will help with pain and it does not make you weird, I will try it...on my days off...just so I can do things...
ONE GUMMY later...NEVER AGAIN...oh my loving God...so dizzy, heart racing...sick to my stomach. Took it at noon...at 6 just starting to feel better. ONE GUMMY! Lord almighty!
What's funny is I did not have any pain in my left knee at all during this time, but I was so sick, I couldn't appreciate it or DO ANYTHING!
No Rx needed. Just go in and talk to someone...and there you go.
Well, totally NOT FOR ME! Lesson learned. I would rather be in pain, or icing my knee but still felt ok...yuck!
All plants but not ON PLAN.
Hopefully back to regular programming tomorrow.
Your menu sounds great, Mihani...love edamame...oh and btw, my watermelon was not the sweetest...but juicy and NOT MUSHY! So I call success there.
Ok, kids...back to lying down. TC all...love you, sweet peas
PS Had marijuana twice in my life...smoking it in the late 70s...all I did was laugh. That's pretty much what I remember. I kinda liked it, so knew I had to put a stop to that...I have too much of an addictive personality.
Ok, done. Back to being sweet Lulu's Mom!

Sorry the gummy didn't work out for you Magic. Someone suggested them to me for anxiety but they aren't legal yet here unless you have a prescription and I never got around to inquiring. The mindfulness works well for me and I would assume better for me in the long run.
I remembered this morning my mom used to always say gargle with salt water when you have a cold so I did that this morning. Really helped a lot. Sometimes the old remedies are the best. I feel pretty good this morning.
Have to say, I'm pretty happy at how easy things seem right now. I am having a bit more in the way of starches than strictly allowed on the 6 week plan. Probably 1.5 to 2 cups rather than 1 cup, but I don't think it is hurting anything. I will cut it back to the 1 cup next week though.
Plan for today...
B - oats with blueberries, yogurt, chia/flax, couple walnut halves, cinnamon
L - the last of the leftover brown rice and stir-fry with a sprinkle of nooch
D - ezekiel wrap with arugula, tomato, cucumber, vinaigrette, plus some fruit either an orange or I'll cut into the cantaloupe, and probably eat the last of the cooked greens
0 -
Stick with mindfulness, Mihani!
Boy, never again!
Phew, I was really scared there .
Internet is down…on my phone…Pain n the butt…back later!

Today's Menu:
black coffee
oatmeal with frozen blueberries, almond milk
carrot and celery and hummus
salad with Lotus Rice Ramen California Balsamic dressing 7 ingredient Italian
watermelon
rice and broccoli, carrots & yellow squash, teriyaki sauce
oatmeal cookie with sleepy time tea...winding down...work week ahead
Do make YOUR day deeeeeeeeee licious, won't you!

sorry your pot gummy was so scary, Nance! Is it one that was recommended to you? If you get CBD only, no THC, you shouldn't have that effect. I tried CBD candies for my migraines but didn't find they did anything and a lot more expensive than advil. wish it would have worked for me.
Mihani, glad you are in the zone and cruising! I want to be there...will work on that.
totally got derailed and struggling to get back on track...ugh!
had a veggie sandwich from town today. very good but not on plan0 -
Your dinner sounds good, Nance, and I bet it was pretty too.
Carla, I credit getting so sick for part of my continuing to be on plan. I usually hit my hurdle the 3rd or 4th week when it is 50/50 whether I will take a nosedive off the wagon. If I can get through that then I'm usually good for quite a long time. I have had NO desire for anything off plan or alcohol, which is nice. I have set a goal of continuing the 6 week plan through the end of September and will see how things are going then. I'm trying to notice and remind myself of the improvements not related to weight loss like sound sleep, fewer headaches, better digestion, no "puffy-face" when I look in the mirror, more energy. But I do like the pants getting loose!
Off to get some work done and an early bedtime again. I feel almost back to normal today but want to continue to take it easy another day or two.
0 -
It was combination CBD and THC...I think it was too strong. But I am not going to try again taking 1/2 or 1/3. I'm done. Can't believe I was so stupid and I took it one week from surgery. Dumb!
Anyway, here's today's plan...
black coffee (still!...thanks Carla!)
yogurt and muesli
watermelon
salad with Lotus Rice Ramen
It's a big salad so half for lunch ...other half for dinner (at work)
yogurt and berries
have a great day girls...
Carla, the struggle is real...focus on the next meal only...make it so you are proud of your choice.
Also, Chelsea says, just do ONE THING to get you going in the right direction...just one...that can be all the momentum you need to get you back on track. For now, instead of being overwhelmed ...do just ONE THING. . She just recently posted this and it really spoke to …can be applied to just about anything…not just diet. Hope it helps.

My salad...doesn't look like much...all the stuff is underneath...will post more about it at work, when I am having lunch. The California Balsamic is oil free, btw. Later, dollies.0
-
Great advice, Nance...one meal at a time and doing just one thing to get going in the right direction. Thanks! This morning I said no to breakfast out and am having blueberries with homemade yogurt instead.
Getting sick really stinks, Mihani, but it's one heck of a silver lining to manage to stay on track!
Plan for today:
B- blueberry yogurt
L - tu-no over greens, balsamic vinaigrette, cantaloupe
D - leftover chili, greens, vinaigrette, cantaloupe0 -
Nance, that is good advice! I don't watch videos often but I have caught a few of Chelsea's and she's really fun. Your salad looks very pretty and tasty.
Carla, I think I'm totally addicted to the unsweetened yogurt and berries now, as long as I have good quality cinnamon to sprinkle on it.
One of these days I'll have to try making my own yogurt. Y'all are making me feel like a slacker.
I bought Dr. F's Eat to Live on my kindle to read and refresh my motivation at any time without having the book handy. Easy to highlight and bookmark things that are good for me to read again (and again and again). Besides, my paperback is pretty worn out.
Picked up my new glasses on the way home from the office and really excited that I can see so much better! I've been having headaches from squinting at the monitors and I spend a LOT of time working and squinting at monitors.
Since the eye doctor is right near the grocery, I ran in there and got stuff to chop for salads this week. I am really going to miss my salad prepping friend the next couple weeks while she's out of town. Also got broccoli to roast. I can quite honestly eat roasted broccoli every single day without complaint.
I'm overdoing the starches to be strictly 6 week plan so I'll rein that in next week.
B - oats with blueberries, yogurt, chia/flax, couple walnut halves, cinnamon
L - I still had a little bit of the stir-fry left and some leftover sauteed greens and onions, so I filled one ezekiel tortilla with stir-fry and another with the greens and took them for lunch with some salsa... really good! But again, I'm overdoing the starches and will need to get that cut back next week.
D - not sure yet... had such a big lunch that I'm not too hungry so maybe just some fruit and a simple/small salad
0 -
I do great...and then I don't do so great...and I keep losing the same two pounds over and over. GEEEEEEEEEEEZ! So I don't get anywhere.
Today's Plan:
black coffee (thoughts: So I used to love my coffee with the nutpods...it was a waky waky drink...but also yum. NOW, it's just a wake up drink and something that I do...not that delicious but that's ok...it gets the job done)*
yogurt and muesli 1/4 cup vegan
rice and broccoli
watermelon
almond milk and oatmeal
Up and trying to get a few things done that did not get accomplished on my weekend since I totally GUMMED UP THE WORKS.
*Holiday time they have special flavors for Nutpod creamer...I will have that for a few special days during the holidays.
Have a great day sweet peas!
Missing lots of peeps that were here and then disappeared.0 -
Mihani, I totally forgot that you finally got your new furniture! How is it working for you? Homemade yogurt is good...but not sure it would be worth it if not for the easy IP setting. My recipe is literally mix 1 probiotic with 1 carton of soy milk, whisk together and set timer.
I starting blending 1/3 of a banana in with the frozen blueberries and yogurt and now it is totally a frogurt dessert for me! I bet a healthy store-bought would work just as well.
Nance, I totally get where you're coming from with the coffee. It went from being a wonderful treat to just a way to wake up. Drink it to get it done, no real pleasure from it. It took a long time, but I truly enjoy it black now.
I've been on a little spending spree y'all...clothing to keep me motivated. I love autumn! I ordered some jeans, a blazer and now this morning some kickbutt booties! I have trouble fitting shoes, so fingers crossed that they will fit. Ordered it all online so it is a wait and see what works. Bit of a struggle for me always to spend money on pieces when I'm not the 'ideal' weight but then when does that ever happen and feeling good helps me persevere.
Plan for today:
frogurt with free blueberries (can you believe my blueberry bush is STILL producing the most delicious bluebberies?)
tu-no salad
fajita bowl
0 -
free blueberries? lol 'fresh' (though they are free as well!)0
-
oh Nance, you probably already know how to do this, but just in case, I thought I'd mention it...sitting here having a late morning coffee thinking about you...you can always make your own cashew cream to ease into black coffee. I did that for a while....soak cashews, blend with water in vitamix or good blender under totally smooth. if it is too 'creamy' it will start to settle as you drink and you'll need to stir. I found thinner was better.0
