Barb - thanks for sharing the pictures. I really miss the tree colors of the East. I grew up in Ohio and we had a whole woods full of beautiful sugar maples that were such a pretty red and orange. Mainly we have yellow aspens here in Colorado. Still praying for safe travels for you.

Susan - I am so sorry that Colin is having so much back pain. He does sound so courageous to still keep going with all the medical issues he has. I agree that a change in sleeping positions (from bed to chair to couch) can help with pain control. It is hard to depend on pain medication for relief so when there is another remedy, I try it first.

Judith - I do hope that you are getting your rest as Susan said. Does extra activity cause more pain for you? If I were you, I would be looking forward to getting your condo "back to normal" but also dreading all the work that it involves. I am so glad that you have a friend helping you as well as movers to do the hard parts. I keep telling myself "one day at a time" to keep from getting overwhelmed in really busy times.

I finally got connected with the ENT's office to get an appointment for follow-up from the antibiotics. He can not see me until October 8th. If I am clear, and it take a month to reschedule my hip, it is looking like the first week of November at the earliest. This may affect our ability to go back to Denver for Thanksgiving. We will have to see how things are healing and how I am feeling. We do have family in Grand Junction that we can celebrate with or we could get together with some college kids or singles who can not go home due to work schedules. We will not have to celebrate alone where ever we are.

We have our weekly Bible study group tonight so I need to get the snacks set up and to make sure that the house is straightened enough. Thinking about you all in prayer. 🥰

Susan, sorry Colin is finding it hard to sleep with all the back pain he is having. Hope sleeping on the couch last night helped him sleep better. Thanks for keeping me posted on what happens with your scrapbooking class. I hadn’t about that when I suggested about combining cards and scrapbooking classes together, but you are right, most people want one or the other. Card making seems to be more popular these days. And yes, with all the packing and getting ready and keeping up with my medical appointments has made me tired. But no worries, I rested a lot last 2 days so know I will have a good nights sleep!

Barb, praying for safe travels. Reading that Harry was at the laundromat doing laundry as your Hotel doesn’t have a laundry facility reminds me to find out if my Hotel does. Sorry to hear about Jan having a cold and their son, Nathan having
Covid, hope Jan can still come. I join my prayers with yours. Keep us posted.

Linda, glad you have the appointment with your ENT on the 8th of October for the recheck but sorry it’s making everything late, thinking about if Surgery is scheduled in November with Thanksgiving being so close. Will keep this in much prayer for you. Hope you have a good Bible Study tonight.

Blessings all, have a good evening and Sleep 😴well tonight! 🙏🤗

I had a surprise phone call this afternoon from the minister's wife. They were going to meet at my house for women's midweek and she was going to do the lesson on prayer but she is sick. She will send me her notes but I like to have a few days to prepare to make things my own. God will be leading the lesson tonight! I think I will make it a discussion group along with praying so everyone can get involved.

I also had a call from my surgeon's office who said the surgeries are booked out until January but since mine was cancelled by the doctor and not a request of mine, they have a cancellation on October 22 that I can have if my ENT clears me for surgery. I am praying that things will be cleared up and I can take this date.

Barb - your husband sounds very helpful to do your laundry. My husband is good to do that too. He was cleaning off the baseboards today that I could not reach to dust. In the generation of my parents, husbands worked to support the family and mothers did all the rest - cleaning, cooking, child rearing, etc.

Judith- I do hope that the hotel has laundry service for you. My washer and dryer is pretty high which is great for me to not have to bend down but would not work for you in your wheelchair. I don't know how much you are able to stand. You have overcome so many obstacles since your injury many years ago!

Susan - hope Colin is feeling better today.

Good morning. It's a beautiful day here and I have ladies coming for their cardmaking class so must move furniture and get everything ready for their work stations, my displays and the general supplies we need. Colin seems to have slept a little better last night. Thank you all for praying for him. He's not out of the pain woods yet. He may have permanent trouble as he has been healing so slowly since last November.

Linda, may the study go well (good idea to have a discussion group!) and may your surgery take place on Oct 22nd with you being 100% well again.

Judith, I just noticed your birthday is coming up. You will be at the hotel for it I think. I'm glad you have had some rest before your move and next appointments with Drs.

Barb, sorry your sister and nephew are sick. I hope your reunion can still happen, but you are right, God will work things out accordingly. Colin also does laundry, thankfully, though lately I have to race to beat him to it. He's not supposed to lift things!

    God bless you all.

Linda, I am praying your ENT will clear you for surgery and you can have October 22nd for your surgery. I am believing and Trusting the Lord for this to happen! Good plan for your Bible Study! Trust all will go well.

Susan, continue to keep Colin in prayer. So happy it’s a lovely day at your end. Have a beautiful day card making with everyone who comes. Be careful with moving the furniture to get the work stations ready for your class.

Tomorrow I am at VGH for follow up with my surgeon, he has procedures to do to get me ready for the 2 weeks I am at the Hotel.

I will be celebrating my Birthday 🥳 on October 5th at the Hotel. My family are coming and will bring food for them and the things I can eat. The kids always make a nice Birthday for me so look forward to it.

Will be back tomorrow night with an update from my Surgeon’s follow up. Thank you for your prayers! Love and Hugs All…🙏❤️🤗

Judith, I hope that all goes well with the surgeons' preparations for you being in the hotel. I'm glad to know you will be able to celebrate your Birthday with family there. It sounds like fun! Moving and your birthday will be upon you soon! Remember your spoons and don't overdo if you can help it. Hugs.

Yesterday's card class was a lot of fun. There were lots of laughs and beautiful cards were made. We focused on Christmas.

Today I have another smaller class to make the same cards.

I hope you are all doing well. Linda, I hope your sinus issue is clearing up day by day. Barb, may your travels and family visits bring you joy.

Susan - I am glad that Colin is sleeping better. He is such a stalwart person to keep working and helping out when he is still in pain. Your cards as usual are lovely. It is hard to believe that Christmas will be here soon.

Judith - I am glad that the surgeon is giving you a break while you are in the hotel. I am also glad you will not be alone to celebrate your birthday. Does the hotel allow you to have food to prepare for you to eat? There is no way that they would prepare your food for you at a restaurant.

Barb - I am sorry that you are having problems with your internet. MFP gives me problems sometimes, in fact I lost this whole posting and am writing it a second time. I would love to see your pictures but do not worry if you have to post it later. We can wait - enjoy your time with your family while you can.

My daughter arrived here safely at 9:30 pm yesterday then we had dinner because they were hungry. After dinner we talked until 12:30am. Needless to say, they did not get up until 10am this morning. Tomorrow they will be going to the ranch to help the family put up silage for the winter. (In case you have not heard of silage it is ground up green cornstalks along with the corn cobs. It will stay in a huge pit with tarps over it until it starts to ferment from the heat it produces. The cows love to eat it all winter.)

Linda, so glad you had a wonderful time with your Daughter and Grandkids. And thanks for explaining the “Silage” as I hadn’t heard that term before. Hope the remainder of your visit with your family is so blessed. You asked about my meals, yes, I can prepare my meals at the hotel: they provide a microwave, kettle and fridge that has a small freezer on top for frozen fruit. I am taking all my special foods to prepare at Hotel. I bought a smaller portable blender as my Oster Industrial Blender is too big and has a Large Glass container and is stainless steel. I will also take my Nutritional (Boost) Drinks to Supplement my meals. My prayers continue for you.

Susan, the Cards you made are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Looking at the cards reminds me that Christmas is not that far away. And yes Susan, I will remember my “SPOONS” and not overdo things. I will enjoy celebrating my Birthday at the Hotel with my family. How is Colin today? You asked about my appointment today. You can read all about it in the Prayer Request Thread and at the end of my post here. Hope your Card Class went well today.

Barb, please don’t worry about posting the pictures, you can do it later, just enjoy the time you have with your Sister, Mother and all your family. Sorry your Internet is not good where you are. You asked about my Birthday! It is on Saturday October 5th. My family are coming to spend my Birthday with me at the Hotel.

In closing I gave a full update on our Prayer Request thread regarding my appointment today!

I had my Surgeon follow up earlier today. The Lord helped me today and gave me his strength to get thru the surgical procedures. I felt the presence of the Lord and was filled with God’s Comfort and Peace. God is Good! Appreciate all your prayers.

I am at the Hotel on Tuesday October 1st. They have full WIFI and Internet services so I will be
able to be here for the 2 weeks I am there.

Thank you for your prayers. God Bless you all! 🙏🤗

Lovely to see you all posting. I will be back in the morning (about 14hrs from now) but saw on our news that Florida has been hit with a Cat 4 hurricane. I immediately thought of Sandi. Sandi, if you have Internet and are reading this, my prayers and thoughts are with you.

What beautiful photos, Barb. It's very special that you can be with your Mom and sisters. Thank you for making sure the photos finally loaded! Enjoy your family time.

Thank you all for your nice feedback about the cards I designed for our classes. The ladies will come again next month and have already chosen from my samples what they will do next. I need to create new samples during the month so they can choose for November's classes. That's the fun part for me!

It is raining here so our plans to have our friends pick up our lounge suite have been cancelled. We sold it to them as we bought one with powered recliners to replace it. Colin is having trouble with our manual recliners. We also downsized our couch so it will fit better in our lounge space. Our friends will work out a way to collect our old suite on a dry day. The new lounge arrives on Thursday so we need to solve this problem by then.

Colin has still been having pain and does have several naps during his day. He can't sleep long at night without waking from the pain, so it is an ongoing thing. Thank you all for your prayers for him.

Our daughter and kids were exhausted after working on the ranch today. They were very dirty and immediately wanted to take showers and rest. The house is really quiet as they are waiting to eat the shepherds pie that I made for dinner. I used yellow squash and eggplant with other vegetables that came for our garden at the other house. It used up a lot of leftover vegetables also.

Sandi - I agree with Susan, We are praying for your safety. It seems you just had another hurricane not long ago. We also have church friends in that area but so far there has only been flooding and winds in their area. Their house weathered the storm pretty well.

Judith - I am so glad that you felt the presence of God with you as you had your procedures. Even when we can not have a physical person with us during these hard times, we know God is with us and will help with his calm and peace.

Susan - How is Colin doing?

Barb - will you get to see your sister who was not feeling well earlier?

Today the family is going to go to our mountain property and see the leaves change. It starts up there before it gets to our town which is several thousand feet in altitude below the mountains. We also will go see the new movie "The Wild Robot" that our granddaughter wants to see. Both Glenn and the grandkids are on zoom calls this morning so it is quiet here at the house.

Praying for all of you - I may come back later after our day of fun.

Enjoy the mountains and your granddaughter time, Linda. Such special times. Colin is much the same, pushing through his pain.

Judith, we have news about the flooding, damage and death in Florida. It doesn't sound good at all.

Barb, glad you are still seeing family.

Thinking of you, Sandi and Marilyn.

We're almost at church. Our old Pastor from far north Queensland is visitwith his wife, both good friends of ours. We're having a luncheon after the service. I'm going to try playing worship music on my flute. Pray I can!

Susan, that would be so nice for you to play worship music on your flute. Prayers for you and for Colin. Enjoy your visit and luncheon with your friends, the Pastor and his wife. I had my news on today and I also heard the devastation in Florida, so many Homes destroyed from the hurricane and the floods. And so many lives lost. My heart goes out to the people in Florida and surrounding areas. I believe I heard the storm is in Texas, also in another State but the name has escaped me.

Sandi I am praying for you, praying for your safety my friend.

Marilyn, you are so missed, prayers for you also.

Linda, enjoy your quiet house while Glen and the Grandkids are on Zoom calls. Hope you enjoy your time with your family. They will enjoy going up to see the Fall colours. I love Autumn 🍂 seeing the leaves turning into a rainbow of colours. Such a beautiful time of the year. Enjoy the Wild Robot Movie your granddaughter wants to see. Have fun Linda!

God’s Blessings, see you all tomorrow! Have a Blessed Lord’s Day, enjoying your Sunday services and being with family and friends.

Susan - I am sure that your worship music was beautiful. I remember playing the piano for church and how nervous I could get until I prayed about it and realized I was not preforming for the crowd but to usher everyone into the presence of God in worship. That was an awesome privilege for us music leaders to do. That always helped me to keep my focus on God. I am not at all saying that you do not do that. I am just relating my experiences of wonder we had to be able to worship together getting myself behind the cross and making God the focus. I am glad you get to go to lunch with your prior pastor. I am sure you had lots of good memories to talk about.

Judith - yes the damage done by the hurricane was massive in some areas. I heard one town was completely destroyed - no buildings are standing now. So far our friends have had only flood damage. I also pray for Sandi that she and her family are safe.

We did have a fun day yesterday. We were pretty crowded in our truck but our daughter spent the time traveling to do some home schooling. They learn history and math facts by singing songs. It was really interesting to see how that helps cement the facts into your brain by using different parts of the brain to memorize. We had lunch at a little Amish store. They have so many homemade things to buy and a variety of different flavors in their items. We also enjoyed the changing of the colors. The sun was really bright which made the yellow aspens really glow. Pictures do not do it justice to show the colors. While we were at our property, we were able to watch our SIL and family bring the cows down from the upper pasture and into the corrals to divide the calves from their mothers. They are bringing the calves down to the ranch today to fatten them up but leaving the Mom's on the mountain for another month. They will call out for their calves for a while after they are gone but after 24 hours they no longer look for them. It is a sad time for me to be there and hear they calling but not hearing an answering calf saying "I'm here". Of course, we know that the cows do not have emotions like we do but we also know that there is an instinct that wants to be near their babies. The movie was sad to me. A robot was in a hurricane and the box it was in was dropped on an island. It was programed to do tasks but when it landed it killed the adult parent ducks and left on egg that was about to hatch. The egg imprinted itself on the robot as it's mother. Of course, the robot had no emotions but because of the need, she researched her data base and asked the other animals questions and found what it was to be a mother. Some things were funny and it was encouraging to see that when a need is felt, she (or we) are able to "reprogram" our minds to become what is needed for the situation. She leaves to teach the robot creators how important emotions are compared to just doing a task logically.

On way home. I’ll try to send more pics. I saw 2 of my 3 sisters. The one who was a bit sick made it.
Many prayers for Colin. Hard when you don’t get all the sleep one needs.
    Many prayers for wisdom.

Linda loved your pictures of color in the trees. We’ve seen a bit but has rained every day we were in PA. It’s raining now in our way to our motel in Virginia. Cloudy & foggy. So hard on the drive.

    Susan
Minister & one of our daughters play the flute. Elisabeth is a first grade teacher & the teachers may play their instruments before Christmas vacation. I’m sure the kids like it. I keep telling her that the autistic kids can find music soothing & glutes easy to bring.

Prayers for those in hurricane. So many lost everything. Mud slides.

    Judith prayers for you too.

Barb, such nice pictures! So glad you got to see family and the one sis wasn't too sick.

Linda, how amazing those trees are. So very pretty! Yes, I do have similar thoughts when I play flute. I was concerabout my hand not functioning well as I still have De Quervain's in the wrist and arthritis stops me from closing my right hand, plus I have trigger fingers on both hands. I was able to.play though, thank the Lord.

Judith, the news about Florida is so very sad. It will take years for them to recover from that devastation. I do hope Sandi has been in a safe area.

Must rush today or I'll be late for Uke practise.

Good morning and happy October. It's already Oct 1st here.

Judith, Uke Jam practice was fun and later in the day the Starlight Singers had a practice too. We sang a lot of Christmas carols as our November Christmas concert is coming up.

We saw more about Florida's devastation on the news last night. It's heartbreaking. So many have no power or clean water. I do hope they get help and have their power and water restored, but it must be quite dangerous to restore power when so many buildings are smashed and power lines are down. I really don't know how disaster recovery starts. If it is like recovering from a cat 5 cyclone, I lived through that. They will need their roads cleared of debris like fallen trees and many must have lost their fridges and freezers of food in an extended power outage. Even their cell phones will have died as they have no power to recharge them, so communication will be non existent. Flood water is dirty and heavy with mud, so cleanup from floods is hard, dirty work and it stinks to high heaven too. It's devastating. I am praying for them all, and especially for Sandi.

Today is a sad day because my daughter and grandkids left to go home. It is very quiet with them gone but I have laundry to keep me busy for a while. They had so much fun playing race cars and other things with my wheeled walker and wheelchair. They also left us with lovely sidewalk chalk drawings on our driveway. Some of them were pretty detailed like a comic strip in a newspaper with a long story. I am sad also that I will no longer be licensed as an RN after today. I let my license lapse since I have not worked for 8 years and I would need to take refresher courses to go back. It is also expensive to keep it current when I do not use it. I did enjoy the respect people had for me with I was working - especially when we were still wearing white uniforms and our cute hats. I am not regretting my decision but sad that it is an end of an era in my life.

Our neighbor just told us that his son lives in North Carolina and there were 100 people dead in the area. He lives on high ground so not as much damage by flooding but will not have any water for at least 2 months. Yes, Susan, the cleanup after the flood is also had work. The mold that grows in the walls and the stench of standing water is pretty bad. Our facility was flooded and even with a quick response and cutting the walls down to avoid the mold, it took over a year to rebuild the first floor.

Yes, it is so sad & I heard there maybe up to 600 dead. Many prayers. Pray for Samaritan purse who is out & for people to come to the Lord.
    Prayers for all.

I hope to be up & able to keep up with all but I know I I’ll be busy with catching up with everything.

Prayers Linda with a quiet house. My mom doesn’t like goodbyes & is really a mess so she doesn’t want anything when he turns 90 next year. So that is sad.

Barb, please be careful as you are travelling home. I have had the news on and the devastation they are showing is so sad. No many have lost everything. My News said a lot of deaths in all the others where the areas were hit hard. My heat goes out to the families who have lost loved ones and those who lost their properties. I heard Samaritans Purse has sent a team in to help with getting clean water and food supplies to the people. Of course they will pray for the people too!

Susan, so glad your Ukulele practice went well and your Starlight Singers had a great practice, singing Christmas Carols sounds so wonderful! Yes the devastation in Florida is so bad. All we can do is pray. And of course I pray that Franklin Graham will have opportunity to minister to the people and share the Gospel and the whole Team from Samaritan’s Purse goes in helping with distributing clean water and food to the people.

Linda, I hear you as you said after today you will no longer be licensed as a RN! Yes it’s a sad day, my heart goes out to you Linda. It’s been years since I worked and if I were to go back I would have to do a refresher, that’s for sure. Yes I loved my white uniforms shoes and white cap we wore for many years. I am crying 😢 with you Linda. I am sure you will miss your daughter and granddaughters. I never like saying bye! During Covid my Granddaughter drew beautiful chalk art on their front sidewalk! I would love to see a picture of it if you are able.

Tomorrow is a busy day as my place is being packed up and moved out to Storage. I will be at the Hotel for 2 weeks 2 days. Off to bed now!
Good Night 😴 God Bless! 🙏🤗

We are in Illinois & have Missouri 4 more hours to go through then we live will be home shortly as we don’t live far from state line.

    Prayers for all.
Prayers Linda as you adjust to your new life not being a nurse. Both my mom & sister were nurses. My mom helped volunteer 2 a week at the hospital before covid. She loved that.
    I love the chalk drawings.

Prayers. How is Colin doing Susan? Sleeping any better? 🙏🙏

Hello everyone. I am very sorry to read about how far reaching the hurricane damage has been. The loss of life and property is hard to comprehend. Samaritan's Purse is a wonderful agency, but what about government and mitsry aid? I hope they also had get peoe back on their feet. When we had a cat 5 cyclone devastate Nth Queensland, we had an informal tradesman's army volunteer their time too. Every tradesman who could travel there, did. It was heart warming and so needed.

Barb, it would be hard to leave your Mom. I would want to celebrate her 90th next year too. Safe travels and I hope she relents before next year. Cin is much the same. He has better days rhen bad days. Thank you for asking about him.

Judith, so your temporary move is really here. May all go smoothly and may you be comfortable at the hotel. Your birthday is almost here too.

Linda I hear you about grieving the loss of your RN registration but no one can take away the experience you have. I am also considering giving up my teacher's registration. It has been n 10 years since I last worked and I am going to let it go for similar reasons - the cost and the study I would need to do. It's hard to let go of something we value do much, but our experience remains. What a double whammy with your family going home, too. I'm still missing my girls...

We're staying at Lyn and Greg's and it time for breakfast. We went out for dinner togelast night and spent hours talking. I better go join in the breakfast fun.

Judith - I am so glad this day is finally here that you can have the necessary work done on your condo. Moving is a stressful time but I hope things go smoothly for you and you can consider your time in the hotel as your mini-vacation. I am sure there will be a lot of noise at your condo so enjoy your peace and quiet and rest well!

Susan - There are a lot of agencies going into the hurricane areas and helping. Some are clean up workers and some are involved in not only the physical needs but the spiritual needs. This second group are the ones that will change lives. I pray that they can bring healing to all the people who are displaced and have lost loved ones. It certainly is not an easy task but very rewarding for them. How are Lyn and Greg doing? I feel like I know them through your travels together.

Barb - I hope by now you have reached your home or almost there. You will need some time to rest up after all your fun adventures and traveling. Do you have to go back to work right away? Having a party for your Mom would be delightful. I hope that she does change her mind and allows it to happen. There are not many people who live to that age.

Our zoom Denver Bible study went really long today with us all sharing what is going on in our lives. We discussed the scriptures and talked for a total of 2 1/2 hours then I had to quickly clean my house because we had a Bible study in a few hours later. We had people come at 5pm and one person stayed until almost 8. Having two Bible studies on one day was a bit overwhelming! We do not usually talk that long but there were some emotions going on that were pretty deep in their families.

Blessings to all of you on your day. 💞

We got home at 8:30 last night. Harry got a load of wash done this morning & I will iron tomorrow. Right now I’m at Mariposa’s house in hopes she will nap.
Yes I feel like I need a week to get my house I order. I did plant the lavender new shoots from my mom’s as they looked sad. I got another pant to repot, grape hyacinth to plant & water. Only had a bit of rain here. In fact we only had 2/3 days of rain the whole month of September. October has none in the forecast of 10 days.
Kansas is where we grow most of our wheat so maybe? They plant the winter wheat mid October so it might be hard as ground is rock hard.
I wonder if it is setting up bread to be a week’s salary as mentioned in the Bible during the tribulation. Last year I think our crop was low as in 2023 it was very hot.

So glad Judith is getting her place fixed prayers for that. Plus her health & Dr wisdom.

Linda that is neat that you had a good Bible study & it went long. I just got done the 2 lessons I missed.while we were away in Romans.

Susan yes many groups helping. It is really sad. I will try to,include one of the places where we went in May 2022 that got destroyed by this flood so the road is shut down.
We did eve some fallen trees down in Lexington, Ky on way home we did not go too far south due to, it all.
The picture is of Blie Ridge parkway I’m NC it is to remain closed

Here is some of the sidewalk chalk art. The first is Victor's idea of how their games went like with the exercise balls. the second one is a story Etta wrote about finding abandoned kittens and getting to adopt one, and the third one is Etta's family flower. The sprinkler washed away some of Etta's story on the right.

I am busy today rewriting a paper that Glenn wrote about how to pray the Lord's prayer from the book entitled Becoming a Man of Prayer by Bob Beltz. He had put the scripture references in the paper but I am now writing out the actual words for the scriptures. His first page took four pages for me to write them out. He did not ask me to write it out but it works better for me to have my devotions when I use his paper. Somewhere in our moving furniture, cleaning the rugs and getting ready for our daughter to get here, I have lost my Fitbit charger. I have 3% battery left so I may have to go back to just a regular watch until I can find it. We are having ham and beans with cornbread tonight. I can smell it in the crockpot and am getting hungry.

Barb - I am so glad that you made it home safely. I am just finishing the laundry from when my daughter was here. I still have to make the bed in my office that they used. I remember the farmers planting winter wheat in Ohio. You are right that if the ground is so hard, it may be difficult to plant and for it to sprout.
I pray that you will get some rain soon so your drought can be ended.

Thinking and praying for you all.
