    Ramblings of the day
Good morning team. I had an okay day yesterday. Gym was fine, workout went well. Food was a little messy, but I kept it low on purpose. It started to thunder here around 18:30 so I figured I would just go read in bed. Not much else to do with everything unplugged in the house! It didn't last too long so when I finished my book I just went to sleep a little after 20:00. Then I woke up at 4:25 from a stupid dream. It's a bit stormy here today and I didn't manage to fall asleep again. Way too noisy, even after I closed the ventilation thingies over the windows. So I just got up at 6:00. Still got enough sleep according to my fitbit so will see how it goes today.
    Happy Thursday everyone <3

Well done staying under your calories! I know how easy it is to go the wrong direction when something doesn't go right. I used to have a lot of trouble with food and when something I wanted was sold out at the grocery store, my whole day fell to pieces because I couldn't come up with a plan B, so I usually went for frozen pizza. I hope you will have a lovely time off work next week.

Whatcha currently reading @Pupowl ?? I just finished my 40th book of the year (always do a reading challenge through goodreads.com and my local public library) and just started a new cozy mystery series called Southern Ladies Mysteries...first title is "Bless Her Dead Little Heart"...how could I NOT read that just from the title alone?! LOL I love these little cozies...nothing violent...and usually filled with humor...

If any of you are on goodreads.com, please add me as a friend...I LOVE to read...

@yukie86 Thanks for the shout-out.
@jessicakrall8 I hope today goes much better for you. *HUG* It's terrible when your plans go awry. I get hung up on food as well. My issue though is that I can eat almost anything just to be eating. Especially after dinner, I'd end up eating more because I have cravings and low self-control. If I finish the day's planned foods too early I tend to eat in the evening after dinner. So maybe my day goes well but the evening gets ruined. I still struggle with that.

@jessicakrall8 You did a great job dealing with that disappointment. I have many moments like this. I work hard to come up with a plan for the day and it's so annoying when it doesn't work out and you start feeling deprived. Lately, I've been trying to tell myself, "it's okay. You can have that thing you wanted another day. Maybe even tomorrow." It takes the sting out of it a little.

@pupowl Your instagram photography is AMAZING! Thanks for adding me on goodreads.com ...that book looks devious...ok, have to ask...how can you stand to re-read a book? You already know what's gonna happen?! I'm an oddball...have never re-read a book...

Good morning team. I had a VERY lazy Thursday. I basically didn't do anything except play games, drink tea and binge watch hoarder houses on youtube. It was pretty nice. Of course I made sure to get my steps in too. I had a bit of a headache, but didn't need to nap despite being up very early.
    Happy Friday everyone <3

    @jessicakrall8
Thank you for the compliment about my pictures, it's nice to hear you like them.
Not sure which one of us is the oddball in this case, I know other people who don't re-read! I do so for several reasons. First one is that I read A LOT. It would get way too expensive for me if I only read new books. I do have a lot of ebooks on my computer, but reading on there comes and goes. I usually prefer to read before bed because it makes me fall asleep easier. In those cases, a book I already know also helps, because I am not tempted to keep reading and reading and reading... Which tends to happen with a new book, thus ruining my sleep. But there are also books I just really love and I genuinely enjoy reading them again. I have read my favourites over 5 times. The only physical books I keep are ones I want to re-read or if they have some sentimental value.
Edit: I only read English books and I live in a small town, so libraries aren't very useful to me.

Happy Tuesday everyone! @Pupowl - I hope you have a better day today! @izzyred9400 - don't beat yourself up! Today will be a better day!! @jessicakrall8 - I wish I worked at your office - I LOVE football (and all other sports) and no one I work with cares - maybe we could swap! How do you feel about Nebraska and working at an advertising agency???

Catching up on my steps - my weekends are full of sports watching so I need to do better with my steps!
    Friday, 10/15 - 4,589
    Saturday, 10/16 - 2,152
    Sunday, 10/17 - $1,971
    Monday, 10/18 - 7,908

Hey @GSAllumbaugh Not sure how I'd do with Nebraska weather...used to live in MinneSNOWta (no typo) and hated the "true four seasons" UGH...I was not meant to deal with cold, snow and lots of wind...I like my southern sun and humidity! Advertising sounds exciting though...I'm in the IT department of an international shipping company...I handle Logistics systems issues as well as EDI transactions (electronic data) issues. LOVE IT! Just don't care for the politics, but as you know, that's in any office, to some extent. I'm hoping that someday I'll be able to work 100% from home...

Please clarify your steps for Sunday, 10/17 before I record it incorrectly...thanks!!
    Jessica

Haha - just 1,971 - Not sure what happened with the $ sign!

I did NOT have a good day today...coworker talked me into eating out at breakfast...I'm so swayable...still ended up doing ok for the day after I retooled my plan. Work was hectic and non-stop. Had to pick up my grocery order after work and had purchased baked chicken and my side was going to be stove top stuffing, which I adore and had looked forward to all day...wouldn't you know they were out of the twin packs, but did they substitute the single packages...NOOooooo! They gave me nothing. I was so pissed that I nearly went through a drive through, but I thought about it and did not...had already had one treat today with the sausage on english muffin this morning, so I ate a baked chicken breast and a small baked chicken wing and some steamed mixed vegetables. I'm under on my calories for the day, so it worked out ok.

Still...why can't the simple stuff go right?!! UGH! Some days are just painful...WHEW! I'm glad this week is half over and next week I'm on vacation. I plan on walking, reading and relaxing...
    Jessica

OMG @jessicakrall8 - that is so me - why can't the simple stuff go right!!!

I've been fighting a cold. The good news (if there is any) is that I haven't felt like eating much and the scale showed it.

I had found a new website that was creating healthy meal plans. It was working and I was eating much healthier. Except my 2 and 5 year old would look at the meal and refuse to try or try and spit it out. It's so hard to balance losing weight with little kids eating habits. I don't want to have to make six different meals a day plus two snack times, so I end up just doing stuff that they eat. Does anybody have any kid friendly healthy meals besides pasta, pizza, quesadillas, hamburgers and Mac and cheese?

Hey there @ewilhelm2487 On the chart, you're listed as a Monday weigh in...got your weigh in from this past week so I'm not sure why you're reporting in on Friday? Do you want to be switched to Fridays? Please advise...otherwise, you had a few more days until Monday for Week 4 of October. Let me know and hope you're feeling better...have a great weekend!

It's hard to get other family members on board.... what works for me is bulk prepping the some main meal parts such as the protein: chicken, shrimp, fish (varied seasonings or sauces), bulk prep carbs: brown rice for me and either seasoned rice for hubs and daughter and/or pasta (marinara or alfredo).
    * So they'll have the same protein, different carb, and we all get veggies (kids are usually okay with broccoli, carrots, corn, and greeen beans)
Example of my daughter's fav: teriyaki chicken, white rice, steamed broccoli.
    * Usually they'll be 2-3 varied proteins for the week so they don't get bored
    * For snacks i rely alot on packaged items like string cheese, apple sauce, nut butter, will include whole fruits (halos, bannana, apples) and i will bulk prep ready-to-eat fruit bowls: cantaloupe/grapes, slice mangos, berries

**Tip that helps me alot: if we're eating something not so healthy, I'll eat what they eat but a much smaller portion and fill up the rest with salad greens or steamed veggies & possibly a cup of sipping bone broth (fills & adds protein)
    - pre-packaged salads are a staple in my fridge (also i usually dilute store bought dressings with water or lemon juice to keep cals in check)

I ended up drinking a chai toddy as well - I altered the recipe quite a bit for all of us (skim milk, less sugar, less honey) and it was still amazing. Didn’t lessen the rum lol

    Week 4 Wrap-up

This week, I concentrated on Food Choices...I did a little better incorporating more fruits/vegetables into my meals. Was it perfect? No...this week, I ran into more stress at work than I have in several months. In most cases, though, my Plan B worked out, or I improvised and made good choices. I had a few fails, but I refused to beat myself up for being human. I lived too many years in "diet" plans that my me feel "less than" and I won't allow that anymore. WW wasn't too bad, but another group I was in made us say this mantra at the beginning that always left me feeling guilty and horrible. Didn't stay with that plan for long. I digress.

My point is that this weight didn't come on overnight and it won't go away overnight. I have to find a way to live and allow myself to do so, WHILE taking off the weight slowly and consistently. I'm going to fall down, but when I do, I get back up. Nothing major went wrong this week, so to me, it was a win. No matter what anyone else says and no matter what the scale says.

My portion control was good this week. On all but one day, my water intake was good. My walking/exercise was consistent and every day was over my step goal. I'm dealing with a little issue in my feet, but my swelling in my left knee and ankle are WAY lower than they were two month ago. I'm really happy about that.

Tomorrow starts Week 5...give some thought today to how your Week 4 wrapped up...share your thoughts...something you say, might be just what someone else needs to hear. THAT'S what this group is about...hope you enjoying your weekend!

    Take care,
    Jessica

      Ramblings of the day
Good morning team. I had a fairly busy Saturday. Started the morning with groceries and laundry. It's getting harder to drink my shakes now that it is so much colder. I sometimes really want some hot food. I also suddenly got sick of my quinoa & nuts salad so I really need to figure something out. I spent a big part of the day cleaning because my mom is coming over for a few days on Monday. I basically cleaned the whole second floor, so the bathroom and bedrooms. I had a build in closet that was overflowing a bit. Went through it and tossed 3 bags of old and too big clothes. I thought I ran a 3rd load of laundry, but I either forgot to press the button, or I pressed the wrong one and turned it off again. When I wanted to move it to the dryer, I realised it hadn't been washed at all! Thankfully I still have today for the last load and then I can get in a work out by trying to stuff the winter blanket into the bedsheet, which is always hell by yourself. :p
Today I will clean the rest of the house. Happy Sunday everone <3
