Back to work tomorrow!
My company is off but two people in my department provide some limited coverage given the operational nature of our jobs.
This cold is wreaking havoc on things - hoping for some warm relief soon. Technically it was warmer today, but it's still not nice to be out.
We've been using the bike, doing yoga and strength... other things to keep us moving indoors.3 -
I have been thinking about Wales often lately - so glad to know we "walked" the equivalent of the Welsh Coast 2 Extreme 24 Hour Challenge!! Wow!4
-
Husband wanted to do some kickboxing tonight. I had thought that today would be a rest day, and it mostly was...but I am glad I got in some exercise.

Hello everyone!
@jugar I will be back on the regular team for January and I will get you a start weight on Friday. I also just downloaded the book you are reading to my kindle. Going to start it tonight!
I just finished up 12 weeks of a diet break and I am looking to be about 10 lbs up. I was hoping to keep it to 5 lbs and I was on track until we had to put the dog down. Darn it! Luckily Christmas had no additional impact. Ready to move forward. Making my food plans and giving my husband a heads up that I will be on lower calories this Friday. I am slowly getting back to working out after my cold. Just easy stuff so far and hopefully I'll lift this weekend. I don't think I will reduce my calories as low as I have in the past and I will work in maintenance weeks or days more often.
We are getting some really cold weather and have warnings to limit outdoor time. Thankfully we don't have enough snow to snowshoe because that would be sad to miss out on.
Welcome to our new teammates!3 -
@jugar I got up and went down to the home office to work this morning without even realizing it was actually Wednesday and not Monday so I'm going to have to weigh in a day late! It won't be pretty, but I blipped up a few pounds last Christmas and managed to get back on track, so I'll just have to do it again!
The rink has firmed up so I'll be getting in some skating time and extra shovelling for the next month or so which will help.
Welcome to the new members. This team is the secret to my success, hopefully they can be yours as well.4 -
Pw 233.8
Cw 234.0
Not as bad as I anticipated but still a gain. Hopefully I will be back to losing by next week!4 -
So many cool things today - Jenn and Sam know each other? Spill @happimess01 and @metaphysicalstudio we need to hear it all.
I had my first snowshoeing outing of the season today. It was fabulous! Mind you, I had to stop and "admire the view" rather often (aka "deep breathing") but it went really well! I guess all the hill walking lately has helped get the aerobic capacity at least within reasonable distance. It was gorgeous out there today. I'm skipping the exercise bike tonight...
I'm venturing out into the world tomorrow morning to get a few groceries before there are many folks out and about. Getting back to high fibre, lots of veg, and no refined stuff after a good holiday blowout feels great. I hope everyone is doing well!
haha not much to tell, we have been mfp friends for some time now. She is very motivated and I love her living room workout pics.6 -
12/28 exercise:
46 minutes indoor cycling + 22 minutes strength + 6438 steps
I haven't walked outside in what feels like forever. It's just really cold and I am not in the headspace to work around it. I could make more effort to get steps indoors - I am keeping up my exercise through other methods but I'll try to work on this a bit.4 -
I went out on my first walk since September this afternoon and it felt so good. So I have decided to do another walking event next year - the Cotswold Way Challenge in June. I will be walking with my friend, Rachel.
It felt great to get into my walking boots again.

Oh my - this looks divine!
I want to do something like this... gotta see if there's anything comparable in Canada!!3 -
Hi all!
I thought I had posted this morning, but I think it was one of those "Look! A squirrel!" moments, I got distracted from the message I wrote in my head, and then I was off doing something else. I think my head had these things in it -
@conleywoods I'm glad you'll be back on the regular roster with a fresh approach and hopefully some steady progress in your future. I like that you warned your OH that you'd be lowering your intake - I used to call that "trembling you lid before flipping it"! Forewarned is forearmed.
@PlaneMonkey no worries about a day late. This is one of those weeks when it is hard to remember what day it is anyhow! Happy skating! I'll think of you speedily gliding along while I'm slogging up a hill on my snowshoes - and I would never trade places with you!
@ashleycarole86 and the other Albertans and cold belt people - this has been one chilly week for you! Yikes! My daughter called me the day before yesterday when it was approaching -45 C and she could not get the mule to come inside the barn. She wanted me to talk to him, but he wouldn't listen. He did fine out in the shelter with two horses and a huge pile of straw to keep them warm enough through the night. The horses had blankets on, though, but little Emmett managed all right. In those kinds of temps, I understand not wanting to walk outside - have you tried the Leslie Sansone walking videos? They're free and they do the job in a pinch when you just can't get out. They're on youtube.
@MandiSaysHey don't worry about the holiday gain - you still have lost 1.4 pounds for the month. Good one!
I had another good snowshoe outing today after a morning grocery run. Since the car is a kilometer from the house (just over a half mile) down a really steep winding hill, the most fun part about having to go anywhere once there is a good snow cover is riding the toboggan down to the car. It was a blast this morning - SO fast! I only wiped out once. Then of course, the toboggan gets loaded with the groceries and hauled back up that hill, so the free ride gets paid for. Did I ever mention how much I love winter?
OK - I had better go catch up with the new recruits, and see how our numbers are doing for January. Tally ho!5 -
@jugar Your glee around winter makes me smile. Yes your daughter's location is even colder than mine. Glad Emmett is managing.. poor little dude. I've heard Leslie's name mentioned but haven't seen those videos.. I'll have to check them out. I do sometimes walk in place when Brad and I are watching TV but it would be good to try something with a bit more intention.3

@jugar thank you for pointing out that my month overall still shows a loss. I've been feeling unhappy about the last 2 weigh ins, but that perspective that I still had a net loss for December is just what I needed to see! Thank you!! ❤️4

Hi WA's ...Another new member heading your way ... Please welcome @lonestarbabe2

Hi, guys! I am 43 and have four children. The youngest will graduate this year, and then my husband and I will be freeeeee! Lol
I want to lose 40 pounds from where I am now (180). I was doing great until my oldest son came home from the military to visit for the holidays. I don’t know why I felt that I should start binging to celebrate. 🙄 I had been at 175. I pulled out an old watch and charging it tonight so I can track my steps beginning tomorrow.
It looks like there’s a lot of activity on this board and a lot of kindness and motivation. I’m excited to be here and hope to add to that!
I will be weighing in on Sundays. Thank you for the welcome!6 -
@jugar CW 159.5 ...a gain but stayed under the round number at least...I'm going to break my finger one of these days hitting that reset button over and over.
good morning and welcome @lonestarbabe - you have found a great group!
@YinxFed oh that walk looks heavenly! Definitely a long distance walk is on my list when I'm free to travel again.
@ashleycarole86 and @jugar....-45 C ???? That's insanely cold. I hope the winds shift for you all soon... I don't wish for a lot of snow at all, but I am READY to embrace my inner-jugar and get out there when it comes, snowshoes are at the back door.

If you can believe it, I was at 188 last Thursday... Weight loss can be such a pendulum. Holiday gain wins the day this week. I'm going to let myself continue this controlled free-fall another week then it's back to the perfect day, and logging consistently. Looks like organized sports are likely to be cancelled for January but our outdoor rink is amazing so the shovelling and skating will get the heart rate up and all the extra snacking burned off.3 -

I am ending December with the exact weight I started. I guess it could have been worse. When I report my steps, you all will see I haven't moved much this week, but I have had a wonderful time with my family. I have a lot to do around the house before I go back to work next Thursday. I am going to make a 3 week meal plan and just repeat it. I have been gaining and losing the same couple of pounds since May. I really need to get focused on losing another 10 pounds.
Welcome new friends! This group is amazing. I have been in it for 2 years.5 -

Welcome to our motley crew! I'm also a military mom (Canadian army) and my daughter was home before Christmas for a week. Much baking and eating was done by all. There is no need to ask why - it feels good, it tastes good, and we're happy to have them around for a bit. Any way we can help you get back on track, we'll be there in your head and egging you on! Reporting steps and exercise is always fun, and diet quandaries are eagerly discussed. One thing you'll see often are references to the "perfect day". This is one of our fave tools to get back on track - pre-log or plan a day with the food just as it should be, at least 20 minutes of good exercise, and then follow the plan to the letter for that one day. It is a fantastic boost that makes going forward feel way more possible and to lose the stuck feeling. Apply as needed!
@eggfreak I love being your "inner jugar". As long as I'm outside in the snow and not inside on my couch.PlaneMonkey wrote: »CW 195

I can so believe it... keep your eye on that first perfect day and all will be well! The outdoor rink is going to be amazing. I've got my wooded hills, you've got your shovelled rink!
@KellyBgetsfit you've got this! The 3-week repeating meal plan can really help. Don't hesitate to put one day per week where you get a bit extra - it is good to mix things up a bit even if the loss isn't as quick that way. I'm glad you had a lovely time with the family.
@metaphysicalstudio the exercise report looks perfect. And inspiring!3 -
@jugar, I woud like to change my weigh-in day to Wednesday (rather than Friday). My weigh-in for this past Wednesday is 145.6. Thank you!5
