Thanks for all the step updates folks! Looking for @Kali225 today if she's around and then I'll get our week 2 report out!
@happimess01 Looks like your new scale reports on a lot of things.. that's great. I can see something like that for me in the future as well.
@micki48 The hot to cold adjustment is always a rough one. I think I'm fairly acclimated to the weather changes here now. The greatest thing I've finally figured out in the last few days is how to keep my step count up without having the option to walk as much outside. I don't know why this didn't occur to me but I've been walking in my living room while we watch TV, or while I do other idle tasks that allow for it. Keeps my movement up!
12/19 exercise:
45 minutes Peloton + 10 minutes strength +10409 steps
Speaking of Christmas blowouts.. I have an aunt coming to town this holiday and she's baked a bazillion cookies... I know it'll be the type of situation where they'll be hurt feelings for not indulging. I plan to have some anyway, I have treats every day... but I can already hear the comments of "just one more" coming. Gotta get my food pusher strategies ready so that I eat and enjoy on MY terms and not everyone else's!

@ashleycarole86 yep, sadly it set my goal weight back by a good 15 lbs1

So far all the Sunday - Monday weigh-ins are in the green! Losers all around! Be inspired, later-in-the-week people3

So quiet! I know the holiday season is FUN but it can also be full of stress. Hope everyone is remembering to let a little thing go here or there and to focus on what's important.
I say it out loud because I needed to hear it....
Will post my exercise stats tomorrow because I'm still busy stepping!! Night all.2 -
Hi!4
-
Sorry, been way too busy cooking to be online lol. We spent over 3x our normal amount at the butchers, which means we probably won't go again until mid-January, but that also meant a LOT of batch cooking.
Since Saturday, I have made:
Spicy Moroccan lamb soup
Golden vegetable soup
Roasted sweet potato and carrot soup
Lamb Rogan Josh
Beef Rogan Josh
Pork and sweet potato stew
I still have sausage rolls (minimal effort, admittedly) and spicy chicken pasta to make today! The freezers are pretty full but I think I'll get the last few containers in, just.
I'm just going through the motions at work now; I am so ready for a break. Whilst we will be off work, we have to prepare a large part of the house for plastering/decorating so I think we'll still be pretty busy, but hopefully we'll get plenty of downtime in as well.
I had a training session this morning where we re-visited my max wattage on the rower and assault bike; I beat my previous records on both. I went in with quite a few niggles, in part due to having a covid booster on Saturday leading me to protect my arm and aggravate my shoulders, but the workout and massage helped.
I hope everybody is well!4 -

Here's a cure for that...I KNOW because I baked special shortbread cookies one year shaped like hippos for a cousin (long story - to do with a trip to africa)....and when I gave them to her, she fed one to her dog (!!!)...after another couple, her husband grabbed them and set aside for himself. Just feed a couple to your dog in front of your aunt - she won't make them for you again, ha!!6 -

Good solstice night to all! I just got back from the annual hike, fire, and gabfest I do with a dear friend. I met her when she was my midwife back in 1992, and we have been friends ever since. We always walk down to a beautiful clearing in her woods near a rushing river. There are 5 huge and ancient maple trees there - she calls them her lady trees. We make a fire, talk about our old year and our new year, and what light will be returning. This year, she and I were the only ones there - other friends had a covid exposure and are staying home waiting for test results. It was good, though - with only 2 of us, we had lots of time to talk and enjoy the fire until we got too cold and went in for soup and other goodies. She has a bread that was started 45 years ago - each year, some of the previous year's bread is incorporated into the new batch. We cut it in half crosswise and "read the bread" which is usually hilarious. Then we eat it. Needless to say, dinner was not within plan, but it was a planned free-ish day in any case.
So who is up for Wednesday weigh-ins?

It was lower yesterday. I am so tired there are no words. I was asleep at 8:27 on Monday! Last night, I made myself stay up and get a few things done...and the baby slept horrible. I am going to workout, put on my pajamas, and go to work. We are just watching Polar Express and drinking cocoa. I have a million things to do before Friday. I told my husband I might have ot throw unwrapped gifts under the tree this year (kidding).
@ashleycarole86 what did you think of Barre? I didn't love it at first, but the more I do it, the more I like it.5 -

I had a couple of days in a lower decade before the weekend but the funeral, travel meals, and highschool girlfriend brunch trended me back upwards. My hockey game last night was cancelled under the new covid restrictions in our region so I didn't get that exercise boost, emotionally or physically. Ohh well. The weather is finally turning cold enough here that our home rink should be solid enough to start shovelling by the end of the week.
Also due to the latest restrictions on indoor gatherings, hubby and I won't be joining my family for Christmas dinner. We don't know yet what we will cook instead but I'd probably better figure it out soon!5 -

That 4 day cheat binge got me. And then we had pizza for dinner last night so my sodium intake is probably having me hang on to water weight. I don't know if this week will be too much better but I'm gonna try.4 -
@KellyBgetsfit I was tired of wrapping gifts so I put my son's gifts inside Amazon boxes, taped them shut, and had him wrap some of his own lol4
-
Down to the crunch! I hear everyone on the wrapping thing - in previous years when both kids were younger, there were always crazy wrapping conflicts, which we all enjoyed. My daughter got into impossible wrapping. Layers of duct tape, boxes within boxes, serious tools required for opening. My son does not believe in wrapping because it wastes material, time, and it just gets torn off and thrown out anyhow... He is a bit superior about the whole thing. Grump. I specialise in ridiculous gift tags with bad limericks, hints about the contents, snide comments about the person opening it, etc. My taller half goes for elegance and style, with occasional dashes of humour. But I love the idea of using anonymous boxes and getting the kids to wrap their own!
I will not be going down to visit my dad after all - the cases are exploding here, everything is closing down, and I don't want to take the chance of going there until I have my 3rd dose, and even then we'll see. So a quiet week it will be! I'm trying to think of menus as well, @PlaneMonkey - suddenly not going elsewhere means cooking here, doesn't it? Just me and the boys (son and OH) - and they are terrible for always saying "whatever you want to make". Silly people.
Today I'll get a great walk in delivering a solstice bread to my neighbour a couple of km down the road. I'll come home the long steep way through the woods and hang out with the deer for a bit. Have a good one, all! Hugs to those of you working, taking care of kids and other people. You rock!4 -
@KellyBgetsfit It was good. I felt things in muscles that haven't been worked in a long time. There isn't a lot of Barre content on the Peloton app but I think I'll throw the occasional class in for something different!

@PlaneMonkey @jugar we've finally settled on fillet steak (which is what we had last year) and the accompaniments is where it gets a bit weird; pigs in blankets, chips, roast parsnips and veg (unless we max out the parsnips). It does mean cooking but it's not a particularly strenuous one. Perks of being adults/staying at home on our own lol.
My wrapping is done - there wasn't much - and I'll inevitably help OH with his. I really enjoy wrapping presents and in an ideal world, would buy expensive paper with coordinating trims and matching gift bags. Even better, each individual would have their own colour or theme. This year, I bought a big roll of skiing dinosaur printed paper, some coloured card and a few red bows, which will do everybody. It's less about the money and more about having bits lying around afterwards! I'd love to wrap it all in fabric but find that hard work, maybe I should try again.
All our rennovation work is booked in now so we know what our deadlines are. OH is thinking we'll be without the living/dining room for almost 4 weeks, but I was planning to move limited furniture back in at points - for example, there are 10 days between the plasterer finishing and the painters starting. I think it'll depend how easily we can access everything once it's stored; the garage and conservatory are going to be pretty full!5 -

Hi everyone. I went missing two days and could not get in to our community group. It took me 10 + minutes just now to find you all. I really want my ⭐️ back.
Anyway, I’ve been in the kitchen a lot recently. Taking a quiet moment after a stress relieving walk. My first in way too long. My daughter found out today she is a finalist for a job that would put in motion all kinds of stuff involved in a move. It’s exciting and I’m terrified. Tummy all fluppy-floppy. I know it will all work out for the best, I just love my home and thought this was my final move. But I love my granddaughter more and I will go wherever I need to to see and be with her.
Sounds like our Canadian neighbors are being smart about Covid. Here is the US we still have so many who think it’s no big deal.
Family here. TTYL4 -
Wow!
Nail biters - the losses are close this week!!
And FYI @bowens1973
So no worries @AshenMoon maybe you need the nail biting diet???
@micki48 I'm glad to hear that your daughter is finalist in a tough job competition, but I'm feeling for you maybe having to move. That is a lot of craziness for a while, but preserving that wonderful connection you have with your granddaughter is completely worth it. If it happens, remember to ask for help every time you need it. You are amazing and will help your daughter so much, too. Your description of your tummy being fluppy floppy cracks me up! Perfect!
It is not going so great here in Canada. Québec is winning the sweepstakes of wildly exploding case numbers in spite of all the efforts that have been made. It is hard to get a 3rd dose quickly, hard to get testing up to speed - we're just staying home trying not to be in contact with anyone. I'm back to picking up grocery orders in the parking lot and all the fun things we thought were in the past. So yeah. It isn't so perfect here... Hang in there, everyone!5 -
