GM, dollies...
Easy day at the homestead...having coffee...then shower...then tidy up a bit. Coworker/Friend is coming over today to install toilet riser.
My project today is steam cleaning the floor and laundry...and a few bills on line to be sure everything is in order.
Menu:
hmmmm...coffee...gosh, I am loving that Nespresso a bit too much. Just one'll do ya...it is strong, and I got a kinda light medium roast... SOLELIO.
Think I will use up my the last of my Just egg ...add spinach...with 505 Southwestern and Quinoa Tortilla.
Juice
Loads of broccoli and some Daring plain...using WYW SOS free Asian sauce.
Zen chocolate pudding for dessert. Found it at Walmart near the regular puddings in the cold case.
Fresh citrus from Coworker's tree...oranges!
Covid test tomorrow.
Appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday.
Lulu's groom Tuesday early...8am. They only do one dog at at time. She goes in at 8, she is done by 9. No sitting around all day in a cage...wet. She is the best little girl in the groomer's hands. Never an issue.
That's it. Nothing else. Keeping menu extremely easy this week to avoid any messes in the kitchen. I do think I might make a "meat" mixture, using Gardein ground and freeze it. Also, will try and free Tinkyada spaghetti and penne...Experiment today and see how that goes.
Have a great day everyone.
I love this guy (not vegan but has some recipes that will work for us)...he is so sweet to his wife aka Camera Girl: Spaghetti Squash 101:

Going to be a busy couple weeks for you, Nance. What day is your actual surgery again?
So my plans for the day became staying in bed all day. Serious body aches and fatigue. I thought it was over this morning but it came back with a vengeance. I feel much better now thank goodness. Glad I scheduled the booster for a Friday at least I didn't have to miss a workday although I sure didn't get any work done here this weekend.
I'm going to have a small bowl of fruit since I haven't eaten anything yet today and not really feeling hungry but should eat something. I'll be back in bed extra early and hopefully be back to normal tomorrow.

A week from today, Mihani...that's the day, January 17th...Betty White's 100th Birthday!
Up, having coffee...easy menu, not altogether WFPB...but trying my best not to mess up the kitchen...I have no more time to clean it.
coffee...
Quinoa tortilla and Chao creamy shreds quesadilla with 505 southwestern sauce...made it this morning, taking to work.
two juices
bowl steamed spinach
Cedarlane vegan enchilada...I have to check the ingredients, but I am hoping no gluten*
Cuties
*Hard finding frozen vegan foods that are also gluten free. I do like Amy's GF plant based burrito...she makes two kinds...the GF one and one that is wheat tortilla.
This is why I am hoping the Daily Harvest works out...lots of GF options...all plant based. (Plus, no one knows what to cook for me...being vegan is so foreign to all the people I know...that's just crazy**)
Hope your aches and pains are just that and you are not sick with you know what, Mihani.
Man, I probably should have taken the week off ... people are not sick with Covid, but a few are out with the flu...or colds, OR they are not telling the truth...sure hope THAT is not the case.
They have hired a temp for me...I will be training her Fri 12 hours and Sat 11 hours. Not sure how that is going to go. I guess it's good since it will keep me mind off of things.
I am not worried about the surgery...totally trust and believe in my surgeon. I am just worried that they will deny me home health care and home PT...or get me rides to PT.
If they do, I will just figure on going to Care.com or something like that to get someone here early in the morning to get me going...and get a ride to and from PT...that should not be too difficult.
My last doc appointment is tomorrow with the surgeon, and I will address these concerns with him.
I got up in the middle of the night and paid my last estimated quarterly for this the 2021 tax season.
I have a box labeled tax papers on the kitchen table for all papers that start to come in. My tax guy is in CA...and I fax him all my papers. This is the first year I paid estimated taxes...so glad I did. It will make things easier this year.
Ok, girls, I am just rambling...so many things going through my mind. It's hard when you live alone and you can't just say, for example, could you throw that in the wash for me...oh and put it on cold and do not dry. Know what I mean? I need to figure out how to get coffee to my chair in the morning...using a walker. LOL
OH HELL!
Later, sweets.
**One dinner at my sister's with my niece, they had ordered a pizza from Pita Jungle...it had some chicken on it and some cheese. My sister said, you can have this...it's just a little chicken...it's just a little cheese. LOL My niece had to explain to her...she CANNOT EAT IT. She did not yell, hehehee, but she did make it clear that she just does not eat EVEN A LITTLE. (insert eye roll here)

A lot to think through before surgery, Nance, but you've done a great job of preparing and planning so I think it will be a lot smoother than you fear.
I got home a little after 5:00 and have been cooking. Had cauliflower, carrots and bok choy ready to go so I stir-fried those with soy sauce, garlic and ginger first while I cleaned one bunch each of kale and collard greens. I will cook up the greens now that the stir-fry is done. I am fine eating greens pretty plain which is good because I have no onions in the house. That is like completely and totally unheard of! I'll throw a couple splashes of coconut aminos in there.
And then I have a package of these funny little mushrooms. They are SO good but small packages and when cooked they shrink up even more so I cook those separately and just add a few to garnish my stir-fry. These are Hen of the Woods. I've also tried the white beech and brown beech varieties.
B - blueberries and diced apple with chia/flax, cinnamon
L - leftover spaghetti squash and tomatoes
D - stir-fry veggies sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds, small salad

Up, having coffee...
Lulu has a groom at 8...she'll be done by 9. Then home and take care of a few things. I did have a covid test scheduled for today at Banner Urgent Care...got a text, late in the afternoon, that that location will be closed today.
So scrambled to find another place. Very little openings on short notice. Anyway, found one for tomorrow, and I think they have 24 hour turn around for results.
Then today at 2, last appointment with surgeon.
Meals today...juices, broccoli, daring original and steamed spinach.
Later, mates.
Here is where I am getting tested...thought I would post it just to use as a comparison for you, if needed...anyway, for what it's worth: https://www.bloomsafely.com/0 -
Pretty good review of Daily Harvest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5jCaZ6Ve9o&t=26s0

Freshly groomed…waiting for her closeup. 🐾💜🐾

Lulu looks beautiful! Did you get all your stuff managed today, Nance?
I had an okay day... got through some stuff but I'm so far behind. I left the office around 3:30 and having dinner now, then up to my desk for a few hours before bed.
Managed to get up and hit the treadmill this morning after not doing it for almost a week. I really want to keep that morning treadmill habit going so that's my goal for the rest of the week. Half hour on the treadmill every morning.
B - blueberries, chia/flax, cinnamon
L - leftover stir-fry, orange
S - evolve protein shake (not ideal but I was hungry and figured better than pretzels)
D - salad (lettuce mix, carrot, daikon and red radishes, spicy brown mustard and vinegar), leftover cooked greens with some of the cooked mushrooms
Not sure I'm going to make it the whole month with no grains, but I'll keep to it as long as I can. I really miss having some brown rice or oats or ezekiel bread.

Good Morning, ladies...Mihani, man, I hope they are paying you well...you are as swamped as my supervisor...she's the controller and she is always there working way too much.
So, my appointment was not what I was hoping for. NO home health nurse, as far as the surgeon knows. Maybe something will change when I get admitted and have a case manager.
Right now, I am trying to figure out how to get to PT. This is so weird...surgeon writes the order but it's up to you to find a place? Well, my coworker who recommended this surgeon has a place...I contacted them yesterday, no answer yet. But then, I need a ride there. My sister will pick me up to take me home.
3 times a week, six weeks.
Yesterday, I had a weepy evening...it's all so much ONLY because I live alone. Trying to figure out what to do before hand...setting everything up so it's easily accessible. Last night I felt really overwhelmed and overly tired...and the tears just flowed.
Still not sure about food...I really would like everything GF...but I doubt that will happen. I know I will use Amy's frozen burritos, vegan GF. Probably her lasagna plant based...the GF one is horrible, if I am remembering correctly, so I will just get the reg plant based. ...not sure what else. Even Dr McD's ramen vegan soup have gluten. Darn it anyway.
I am not in the mood to make stuff...I am hoping this Daily Harvest is the answer to my prayers. It arrives today.
I know not much of an appetite in the beginning...loads of pain meds...oh see, I just make myself crazy with so much.
I do love the Daring plain chic'n with SOS free Well Your World Asian sauce. So I will stock up on that...that's GF. YES! Make up some rice to freeze. See, things are so bad. LOL
Ok, kids, I have driven y'all crazy enough...talk to you later.
Hugs. Mihani, hope things get better for you...but big congrats for getting on the TM. Use that as your safe place ... away from the craziness of the office.
Later, dollies.
PS Have to get my covid test today...across town. Appointment is at 10...will leave at 9.0 -
Aww, Lulu is pretty in pink! Nothing like a spa day to put a spring in a girl's step. I can see how your post surgery recovery would be overwhelming. You've done a lot of prep, put in the forethought, so I think things will all work out okay. Too bad about the home nurse response from the doc. Seems crazy. There's a lot of people in that situation.
Nice work getting on the treadmill, Mihani. And going grain-free for so long! That is super difficult at the best of times, never mind when crazy busy.
The snow is completely gone now so we went for a full length walk with the dogs...while a deluge of rain came down (atmospheric river, yay). The ground is super saturated and the dogs came back looking like they went for a swim.
Not sure if I mentioned this or not, but I injured my shoulder somehow...I'm guessing a knitting injury (lol how embarrassing) ... so haven't done any knitting for 3 full days now and counting. Haven't done any spinning either, in case that makes it worse. I did do a little dyeing, carefully. It is driving me crazy but at least I've gotten some office work done.0 -
Hey gals! Work sucks. I am not going into details now because I haven't even had dinner yet and I gotta run, but I did read your posts. Nance, you will be okay and I'm sure they will have something for you although I hope I'm not just doing wishful thinking. Carla, yay for less snow blocking you in and boo for shoulder hurting. My shoulder/arm have been hurting, like shooting pains and soreness, since I got my booster last Friday. I didn't have nearly this reaction to the first two shots. Pissing me off because I'm also still a bit fatigued.
B - skipped it
L - had that early but leftover stir-fry
D - big ol' salad with some chickpeas added
*hugs*

Delish! Well worth it.0 -
Morning all...
breakfast: amy's tofu gf breakfast burrito
lunch: some kind of DH smoothie
dinner: some kind of DH soup
snack: squeezed juice
dessert: not sure
HAGD!

Home early to work on a massive project that I just haven't been able to get to when I'm in the office. Going to eat a light lunch first since it's so late and dinner time will be here before I know it. So I'll be working on this project the rest of the day and as long as I can into the evening, then staying home tomorrow morning to work on it some more. Will just run to the office for a couple hours in the afternoon. Probably going to be in there Saturday as well, but we'll see.
The coming week will be taco salad! Asked my salad prepper friend to get zucchini, red and yellow peppers, banana peppers, red onion. I'll top it off with salsa, black or pinto beans, maybe some corn, and avocado. I'm already looking forward to my salad tomorrow night. Meant to get some corn tortillas to make "chips" but forgot. I do have ezekiel tortillas maybe I'll try it with those. I stopped at the grocery on the way home because I've been craving broccoli! Spent $100 for 3 little bags of food (mostly produce plus tofu, bean pasta, and veggie broth) and some household items like TP and kleenex and dog treats. Ugh!
Nance, glad you like the Daily Harvest foods. That will make things SO much easier for you during recovery. Yay!!!
B - oats with blueberries, chia/flax, cinnamon (I'm over the no grains thing LOL, but will try to keep them limited from here on now that I've reduced my cravings a bit)
L - small salad
D - think I'll make cheezy chickpeas and eat them with the last of the cooked greens and another small salad
Have you tried the Sumo Mandarins? I bought two of those. So good! I forget about them unless I see them. I'm not sure they are available year round maybe that's why I forget.

Sleepless nights are the norm...so I just go with it at this point. Yesterday, I did the dishes for the last time...all frozen or premade at this point. I have no more time to deal with dishes. Working 25 hours combined today and tomorrow.
Sunday will be doing final things around the house, getting gas in the car (it will be used for transporting me to PT...it's an SUV easy to get in and out of)
Also, Sunday, neighbor is coming over and we are going to do a walk through using, my walker to see how I manage making coffee...light meal, etc.
I bought those Sumos the other day...mine were not all that sweet. But people do rave about them...only here for a short time, from what I understand.
today
coffee
DH smoothie
left over Daring with broccoli
one juice
if need be, one Amy's GF vegan burrito (not that crazy about the breakfast tofu one...I prefer the beans and rice)...
Ok then, at least I am not feeling any anxiety today...there have been some days where it is so bad...none today.
This is how I was feeling the other night when I starting crying...overtired, overwhelmed and just plain over it.
Now, I feel I did prepare really well...I people in place to help me...my main goal is that PT and to kill it. He says 3xweek 6 weeks. Then I am going to use the pool to really get in there and work that knee. I am ready for the pool...one of the ladies that works at Sprouts market that I talk to a lot, her brother used the pool for after surgery PT and it really helped. So there you go.
I think I am training a gal today to temp while I am out.
See you all later.
0 -
Just what you needed, Mihani, a massive project! Hope your time at home is uninterrupted and productive. Taco salad sounds good. I might do that soon. Today it will be good ol' red lentil cauliflower curry.
Hope training the temp goes well, Nance! Have all of your Daily Harvest meals been good so far? (Okay, good, or great?)
My shoulder is still sore, so I'm limiting what I do. It has improved, although much slower than I was hoping for.
I've had some good yarn dyeing results lately and made detailed notes, so I'll be able to repeat what I've done. I'm done with work for the week (yay!) so I'm going to get out there again today.
We haven't gotten back into the 3 walks a day with the doggos. I'm happy with 2 for now plus moving about in the dye studio but will ramp up soon.0 -
Nance, I'm glad you are not feeling stressed today. I'm also curious about your reviews of Daily Harvest items as you try them. Hope you get some sleep tonight.
Sorry your shoulder is still sore, Carla. Can't wait to see pics of your latest creations.
Grabbed a couple avocados on the way home to add to my "taco salads" ... I am actually excited about my salads this week which is nice. I also got a package of the baked tostadas to break up and scatter over top. I think I'm going to make black bean salsa to top the salads. It's so easy just thawed corn, a can of drained/rinsed black beans, and salsa. Should have bought some cilantro but forgot.
Tomorrow will be cooking, cleaning and laundry day. Going to roast the broccoli I bought yesterday. I have two bunches of chard and a package of mushrooms. I'll cook those up with onion and spices. Also got more spaghetti squash, tomatoes and basil so I can make that recipe again. I enjoyed it. Simple and tasty and the leftovers were great. I'm not going to the office until Sunday, if even then. I have plenty of work on my desk at home and next week is going to be crazy so I would rather hang out here.
B - ezekiel toast with baby spinach, avocado, sliced tomato and fresh ground pepper (yum!)
L - skipped it
D - taco salad! and some fruit... probably diced apple and some blueberries sprinkled with cinnamon and cardamom
0 -
Morning all...I probably won't get you a review til way after surgery and I really get into Daily Harvest. I can tell you, I will be reordering...so far the two soups have been so delish, full of fresh veggies and flavor...had a smoothie yesterday, prepared with soy milk...best smoothie at home.
Considering shopping time, clean and prep time, cook time, clean UP time...this is going to be a life saver for me, moving forward. All WFPB GF.
Really little sleep...thank goodness just two more nights...
Working 11 hours today...three big things on to do list today:
telephone directory of my A team helpers
directive
one last market trip
Sunday, finish cleaning up the house and packing and run through with walker to see I can manage.
TTYL...have a great day.
I may or may not get back before surgery...can't wait to be able to text you all and tell say...I HAVE A NEW KNEE! Later, mates.0 -
Will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way, Nance!
I'm sooo tired this morning. Think I'm going to go back to bed for a bit before I get started on some work. Not feeling it on cooking yet, maybe this evening. If not then tomorrow morning for sure. I will at least roast the broccoli today because I'm craving the brocc.
Plan for today:
B - ezekiel english muffin with spinach, tomato and avocado
L - broccoli, berries with cinnamon and chia/flax
D - taco salad
0 -
I hope everything goes smoothly with your surgery, Nance. We'll be waiting to hear the good news!
Your meals sound good, Mihani. The taco salad in particular sounds appealing but I could go for some roasted greens and spaghetti squash too. I also like how it comes apart in strands
Sore all over still. Shoulder in particular, but also hips, lower back and knees. I'll be having a green smoothie today and green tea. No sugar!
Here's a sunset I caught the other evening. It was glorious in person.
0 -
Beautiful sunset!
I got a second wind after a nap so I'm getting my house stuff done now so I can concentrate on work tomorrow. Laundry in the wash, broccoli chopped and ready to go in the oven. Will make the spaghetti squash and roasted tomatoes after the broccoli is done, and cook up the greens. Then a quick sweep and mop of the floors.0 -
Good day so far except I slept in and I still have loads of work to do. Just taking a lunch break then will get back at it.
B - I was extra hungry so it was a big breakfast... some of the roasted broccoli, a slice of ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter, a cup of blueberries
L - 1/2 cup brown rice with sauteed greens/onions/mushrooms, sumo mandarin
D - will be taco salad, cara cara orange
0 -
Good morning!
hope your project is coming along, Mihani.
A very foggy morning here. No progress on my projects because I still can't knit or weave. I'm dyeing some little samples, mostly so I don't go crazy, but even as I'm dyeing them, I'm thinking what the heck can I even do with these if I can't knit or weave anymore? Too soon to think that way but it kept me up last night.
B - green smoothie
snack: toast w/ natural pbutter
D - red lentil curry
0 -
Thinking of you today, Nance! Anxious for you to get back and let us know how you are doing but I know we have to wait a few days.
Awww, Carla. The pain has been going on for a while now. That yarn is very pretty!
Had a good day wellness-wise. Work-wise ugh! Can't decide if I want to get more work done tonight or just get to bed early. Bed sounds better.
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of PB, bowl of blueberries, some of the roasted broccoli
L - spaghetti squash with roasted tomatoes and basil, probably 20 grapes
D - big ol' salad plus more salad in an ezekiel tortilla, both with the bean and corn salsa and 1/3 avocado, a cara cara orange
And I got in 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning. Woot! I'll see if I can't get myself back on there tonight. I'm only about 1200 steps from 10,000 so that would be a nice way to finish the day.
We had a couple inches of snow, which isn't much, but it is very wet, slippery snow. The city did not do a good job of clearing roads as of this morning so my drive to the office early this morning on the freeway was extremely tense. Not so bad on the way home. Glad it was a holiday so there were less cars running into each other, but still a lot of accidents.
I'm totally grooving on cara cara oranges by the way. Really sweet and good. I am trying to eat a citrus fruit every day.
0 -
Thanks for the tip on the Cara Caras. I put them on my list. Fantastic work getting in some treadmill time, Mihani!
I have been thinking of you, Nance and looking forward to your next post. (I think 2 days in the hospital and then back home?) Not sure how you'll be feeling the first few days home, but we are here when you're up for it.
I ordered a sling today from Amazon, so we'll see if immobilizing my shoulder and arm helps with healing.
I did pretty much nothing yesterday, other than a walk, and today is going to be much the same. Everything I do tweaks my shoulder. I can't put my bra on and off, so I ordered one with a front clasp. I've avoided those ever since high school when I hunched forward and my bra came undone. Not ideal!
Sorry, just a boring check in!0 -
I sure hope the sling helps, Carla. Have you talked to your doc about your shoulder? Totally cracked up about the bra story. I'm sure it was NOT funny at the time.
Just 20 minutes on the treadmill this morning. I overslept a bit but managed to get that much time in. I'm at 7000 steps today and will get in another 500 before bed to reach my daily goal. It's nice if I can get to 10,000 but I wanted to keep my goal reasonable and doable for now.
Going to bed here shortly. I got stuck at the office late again and I'm tired.
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of PB, blueberries, some of the cooked greens/mushrooms/onion
L - same as yesterday except fruit was a cara cara orange
D - same as yesterday except fruit was grapes after dinner
I ordered a spiralizer which should be here this week. I just thought it looked fun and something to freshen up my same ol' salad repertoire.
0 -
nice job on the TM! I'm really impressed at how you can work such long hours and still fit in those walks.
The bra thing is definitely funny now! It was embarrassing at the time, but I was able to walk to the washroom immediately to fix it, and either no one saw, or no one commented. I'll keep ya posted on whether this new bra 'behaves' or not!
b - smoothie
l - apple with nut butter
d - last of red lentil cauli curry0 -
Carla, I've finally figured it out that I simply have to get on the treadmill in the morning. I'm usually so wiped out by the time I get home from the office, not to mention hungry for dinner, that I just can't make myself do it so I go to bed promising myself that tomorrow night for sure I'll treadmill. Tomorrow never comes.
Love the red lentil cauliflower curry!
Speaking of... a good 25 minutes this morning. I'm only going between 2.5 and 3 mph right now. I want to get this habit set in stone before I start trying to change it up or push it harder.
B - ezekiel toast with 1/3 avocado
L - last of the leftover spaghetti squash and roasted tomatoes, cara cara orange
D - big taco salad, handful of cashews
I am enjoying having my ezekiel toast in the mornings again.
Got the spiralizer and tried it out on a couple carrots. They weren't big enough to get really nice "spaghetti" but it was still kind of cool. A little frustrating figuring out how to get it going right, but I'll learn after I use it a little more. I figured I'd just chop the cores for stir-fry or something, but I read a tip to freeze all those and when you have a big bag full make veggie broth. I've never made my own veggie broth but should give it a try. I use a lot of it.

Home. Surywent great. Sleeping in LazyBoy0
-
Yay to the surgery going great!!! We missed you, Nance. I'm sure Lulu is happy to have you back home. I hope you get some good rest.
Great job on another TM walk, Mihani. Even though I'm not busy like you, I need to get my exercise done in the morning. The exception is the walks with the doggos, which doesn't feel so much like exercise. But, if there's one walk we skip, it is usually the last one of the day.
My shoulder and arm have not healed, but I really hate going to the doctor. And I know that with this type of issue, she is going to have to take a guess as to the problem, and then send me in for diagnosis and to see a specialist. And then another specialist and so on. I've spent the last 3 days moving it as little as possible and I don't really notice much improvement. I think today I'm going to move it a bit more, carefully checking my range of motion and see if that somehow helps.
