Happy Tuesday!
I had my first PT session of the year last night. A nice strength workout with a lot of deadlifts. I can feel my glutes today
For the newbies: Weigh-ins vary a lot from person to person. In the past I have used an app (Happy Scale) to track my weight trend by weighing myself daily. Personally I found it a good way to track my average trend because a woman's weight fluctuates so much more because of the female hormonal cycle alone (yay, biology!). I'm not doing it at the moment but am toying with the idea of re-introducing it. My downfall is not getting up in time, rushing to get ready for work and forgetting to weigh in...
I have found that my sugar intake has dropped. I certainly haven't banned sugar or made a conscious effort on that front, but i think my choice of good carbs on the whole (hello porridge!) has helped with the slow burn and energy release. The majority of my sugar now comes from natural sources. I also baked my first sourdough loaf in probably about a year on Friday, and the result was a bloat free weekend, which I think also have a part to play in my increased my energy levels.
Little changes, all very manageable.
Hope everyone's week is off to a good start!4 -
@k8richer - Not the pics you are after I suppose, but I thought I'd share my bloat free bread anyway6 -

*drools a little bit*
that looks delicious!2 -
Of course on weigh in day I have my heaviest weigh-in since last week Friday...
New workouts have been good so far, glad I went with 3x/week with some type of "cardio" 2-3x/week on the "off" days - lets me have a shorter workout on those cardio days which is a little less overwhelming with my current schedule.

('cause this is right where I'm at now )5 -
@canadjineh OMG that's a good one! Hee hee 😜. It's not where I'm at now, but I've been there! Good luck to you!
And that is magazine worthy bread @rianneonamission! Wow!
Here's a pic of me last week going for a magical skate through a forest. Yes that's a path made of ice. I think all farmers should flood their orchards and woods in the winter so people can skate. It was freezing cold, dropping below -25C as the sun went down. I didn't last that long! But I will always choose an outdoor workout if I can!
Keep the photos and motivation coming!

As you can see, I did not lose any weight this past week. On Monday, I shopped when I was hungry, and bought some junk food. I spent the next few evenings eating it! By Thursday, I was over it, and was able to get back on track. Although I didn't make progress on the weight front, I do feel like I had a small victory - normally I would have finished the junk food before getting back to the plan!4 -

My weight is a draw for the week, but it's a loss for how I feel. Tweaked my back, been working and snacking too much, and got my covid booster so I'm feeling cruddy. Kids have been home with online school which makes everyone (esp me) crazy. Plus we are in a major cold snap which limits my favourite fresh-air exercise. I am sure I've lost muscle as I haven't been moving much - I've really just been holding the fort at home.
Boy, aren't I super whiny and depressing today? Just ignore me.
The good news is I know I have a body and attitude that recovers easily. As soon as I am feeling better and the kids go back to school (tomorrow!) it won't take much for me to get back to a healthy active routine. There should be a study on 'Fitness Resiliency' and how/why some people bounce back from setbacks while others find it harder. Just a thought. Happy Sunday all!6 -
Down approx 1.7% of BW. For 2 weeks into this cut, I'll call that a win!6

Hi all, this looks a good thread! Nice to read all your comments.

Since the beginning of lockdown I've been putting on 2lbs here and there, and ended up 10 lbs heavier than 2 years ago. So January is about getting a grip, stopping baking cakes, and feeling better.

Hoping to be 8 stone by the end of next month and fitting into my clothes a bit better again. Fitbit tells me sleep has improved, resting heart rate is down, and my stomach is not sore anymore. Not sure why I ever eat sugar to be honest!

Hi everyone! Thanks for the lovely comments on my bread. It tasted rather good - best sourdough method I've come across to date.
Almost at the magical 180lbs which is what I want to hit this month! Doing ok so far. Friday was a write off as we went down to the sea side and had dinner at a fabulous burger place. Burgers, cider, beer, gin... Mind you, other than that blip I have been good and in control. (We'll ignore the fact that I felt somewhat delicate following Friday's drinks and had a remarkably low cal Sat as a result...)
Activity is up too: I hit 80k steps last week for the first time in a long long time. Not great with the strength training yet, but my activity level is definitely up. Strength training tonight though with my PT. I haven't picked up running again just yet because the recent weather has resulted in a number of days with black ice.
Next month I have a friend's hen party (bachelorette for those of you not in the UK) and I'm looking forward to feeling lighter and less bloated by then.
@k8richer Oh my word, that looks fab! I haven't skated for years, but that sounds seriously cool, skating through an orchard!5 -
Ugh. I am so up and down right now. I'm going through perimenopause, and every time I have a hormone surge, my weight fluctuates. I'm having to constantly change my goals, which is fine but still frustrating. I should still be able to get to 149 by the 1st, but I'm also aware that it just might not happen this month!!6

Not seeing the losses I would hope to see, but the workouts are all new (I have 2 weeks of different workouts before they repeat, plus cardio), and while I may need to adjust my calories, I have a feeling this is just one of those weird kinda-plateau-but-not-really situations as I have stayed in or under my range every day - but my diet has changed, workouts have changed, even mentally been some shifts over the past few weeks, so not going to sweat it just yet....6 -

Just out of curiosity, what is your split or how do you have your workouts arranged for the 2-week cycles?2 -

I've had a great 1/2 week so I'm posting my weight early. I'm feeling much better - strong and healthy - finally! Back to weight training, bootcamp and smart calorie intake. I am reminded that bodies take time to adjust to health changes and new routines but then sometimes results come quickly.... hang in the @HoneyBadger302!
It's too cold so I can't plan for outdoor fitness (beyond dog walking) but am adapting my workouts. Thank goodness we bought a fancy iFit treadmill thing at the beginning of covid. I scoffed at it at the time, but now admit it is cool as an indoor option.

Yes! With still a week to go I hit a number below my target of sub 180 for the month! Yesterday I even weighed in at 178.8lbs, so I think I’m pretty safely below the 180lbs mark.
I have also re-instated my gym membership so I can start doing some proper weights again. Exciting stuff! Friend’s wedding has now also been confirmed for the 9th of April, so I have stuff to work towards.
@HoneyBadger302 A plateau is better than in increase in weight, and equally solid shifts to better habits are good NSVs in themselves.
@staceyrey12 If they are hormone fluctuations, perhaps using a average weight tracker may benefit you. It should help you see the overall direction you’re going in.
@k8richer I’m keeping on with the outdoor PT sessions. Even close to freezing I am on that field with my gloves, hat and multiple layer lifting my weights!

Just out of curiosity, what is your split or how do you have your workouts arranged for the 2-week cycles?
I worked with a coach in my sport to help set something up that works with my schedule - so 3x/week I do the prescribed workout, then 2-3x/week do a cardio session of my choice.
The split is there mostly to keep me from getting bored - I just simply won't sit there doing the same thing day in and day out LOL. Basically there are 6 different workouts (week 1 has a slightly different theme than week 2), and those rotate with increased intensity/weight/reps after 2 rotations. So basically he puts together 1 workout plan with 6 different workouts, and that is designed to last me 10 weeks.
Due to my own background in fitness, I don't feel the need to really work closely with a trainer, but do utilize help in putting together a plan with someone who works with athletes in my sport to be sure I'm really hitting what has been proven to work.

This week was so much better on both the eating and moving fronts. I just might be able to reach my goal weight at the end of the month. It's been years since I've been able to cross that 130 lbs line and now it seems possible.
Thank you, to everyone who posts - it really is inspiring! Each day, I look forward to checking the thread.3 -

As soon as I near 125lbs, I will be at maintenance - very exciting. And im increasing my strength training (says she to herself...) so my weight loss may level out anyway as I gain muscle. In my 20s my body had a tipping point around 120lbs where working out more just put on muscle and I would put on weight. Nothing wrong with that. Although I wonder what my middle aged body will do. In any event, strong is beautiful!
I went snowshoeing yesterday and today - it is gorgeous and peaceful in the woods covered in snow. Have a happy healthy week everyone!
