Well, here I am again, 1.5 weeks later and down 1 lb to 147. I had been lower earlier but I was just super hungry the past couple days and ended up eating yummy tortilla chips and guac with hunks of cheese late at night (my nemesis!) That coupled with a few interesting alcoholic drinks (NOT low carb :( ) has jumped me up a couple again. Hawaii trip is approaching swiftly and I feel a bit of panic. Deep breath....aaaannnnd, Low Carb on!

    2022 ~ Feb 26 ~ 166.0 lbs

    Starting weight: 8/26/21 - 214 lbs
    9/30/21 - 204.6 lbs
    10/31/21 - 194.0 lbs
    11/30/21 - 185.8 lbs
    12/31/21 - 179.4 lbs
    1/31/22 - 176.2 lbs

February 2022 Goals: Get down to 170 or lower
Overall Goal: 150 lbs or lower

Well, 2 more days to the end of the month. I think I can safely say I have made my monthly goal yet again! Yay! I'm hoping to be at 165 by Monday, so my new March goal will have to be 160. Five pounds a month here on in should be very doable. I feel good at where I am right now; just need to whittle my middle down some more.

I'm having trouble measuring, weighing and logging my foods now. Need to get back on that! But yesterday, because of the storm, we ordered in food. My coworker suggested this one place which was nearby and we coerced our other coworker to go pick it up. He has a 4 wheel drive heavy duty truck. So I had to guesstimate and if what I entered is correct, I was WAY over in calories. But hopefully not. I just had soup and a salad, but man...what a salad! It had everything and I ate it all it was so good. The soup was like a tomato bisque so I know it had a lot of calories in it.

And tonight...I have a DATE!!! My first date since I was 50! I'm 58 so it's been a while! We are going out to eat and I've looked over their menu and will try to behave. The restaurant is not mainstream so the nutrition info won't be online. Also, no way to weigh the portions. So I will have to use my hand as a guide. Palm for Protein, etc. I'm thinking of going with their salmon. I've never had salmon before. So if I don't like it, I'll take it home in a doggy bag and feed the cat. But it does sound delicious. It's called Maple Dijon Salmon. Maple syrup, whole grain mustard with an apple pecan crust. Sounds high in carbs, but might be good. I've been wanting to try salmon. And it comes with salad bar and a potato or vegetable. So I will just have the salad and skip the veggies. Ice water with lemon. So a lot of firsts tonight! Wish me luck!

    Have a fabulous day everyone!

Well done @NYPhotographer2021 and enjoy your date! The food sounds good, I love salmon and that sounds delicious. I wouldn’t worry about the higher carbs for one meal, especially on a date!

I’ve been eating more this week and also eating higher carb dairy in the form of goat yogurt, this is really helping my exercise, I was able to do an hour workout today. I’ve realised how important this is for my emotional well being, exercise isn’t just a physical benefit for me. So if I have to eat some higher carb animal foods to help me feel my best in my workouts that’s fine with me. I can’t go back to eating plant carbs, that will only lead to IBS pain and suffering again!

I know I could keep the zero carb carnivore diet if I stopped exercising or did only very gentle exercise like walking but now I’ve started doing the weights and strength exercises again I’ve realised how much I absolutely love doing it. Many years ago, before I started developing chronic illness, I would work out for two hours at a time because I enjoyed it so much. I’ve obviously never lost that love of it because I’m feeling that same joy again. I don’t want to give that up!

Oh dear, I’m going to have to change my plans again! I’ve started reacting to the goat yogurt! Nooooo!

Just when I had it all figured out! But it has to be done, I’ve got unmistakeable symptoms that are very familiar and they started a few days ago. I thought it was just a random flare up but they’ve got worse and today I’m really suffering badly! My other foods have been just chicken and beef, foods I know are safe from previous experiments. Oh well, I had it good for about a week so that’s something I suppose.

So next plan lol! I’m just going to have to accept that I am not going to get my old activity levels back. My carnivore diet has put my chronic health problems into remission but it’s not a magic cure.

But that’s ok, I’ve spent the afternoon reconciling myself to it. I just have to keep my workouts at a less intense level and keep the dairy intake very low, not every day.

It’s basically come down to a hard choice. Be very active and suffer digestive issues or be less active and have a calm digestion. I can be grateful that at least I can have some exercise back in my life. After being stuck hardly able to move for years this is still freedom.

I forgot to mention yesterday that on top of the digestive issues I also had a Fibromyalgia flare up. I expected (and got) sore muscles after that long workout but was hoping it wouldn’t trigger my Fibro. I’ve kept off the dairy today and my stomach is already a lot happier. So I guess that’s my body’s final word on both subjects!

I seemed to be ok on half hour workouts at a lower intensity so will limit myself to that and see how it goes. It’s not the end to the month that I wanted and I’m going to have to lower my sights for my end fitness goal but I can still be fit again just not to the same level I used to be.

I won’t exercise for a couple of days to let my body fully recover. I’ll stick to my eggs, chicken and beef for my meals.

It’s interesting because I ate cheese and dairy daily when I first started carnivore. I wonder if actually it always was a problem but I just didn’t notice it until all the other health problems completely resolved and I cut down on the dairy so suddenly it became noticeable when I eat it.

    SW: 185.8 (Jan 3rd weight)
    181.2 (Feb 1st)
    CW: 180.4 :rage:
    GW Feb: 177.2
    UGW: 165

well that sucks. Inlaws must have underplayed how many carbs were in something, because I didn't pig out at all. So. At one point this month I was down to 178. Oh well. It's just water so KCKO.

I went on a soup stroll Saturday (local restaurant competition) so the extra cal and carbs got walked off. Yesterday we had our bowling league. Strength class at lunch today and ended the month exactly where I started. Time to reevaluate my goals and method of getting there.

    March is a welcome change.
