I started typing a post yesterday but totally lost my train of thought. Anyways, it has been chilly in Boston! MAY is tomorrow!! Can't believe it, and it really doesn't feel like it. Where is the spring weather?! 8 full months left in the year, and time to make some real progress for myself (which hasn't been the case the first 4 months). I put some things back in the habit tracker for May, so hold me accountable to those, team!
Yesterday was a solid day for logging and movement. I did a short walk to not push my foot, iced it, did a 10 min self-guided yoga that felt so stretchy. Then 19 min abs from the FitOn app - a video I have done before but totally forgot how much I love it. So today I'm sore in the best way (obliques!).
This morning, I'm doing some yoga and journaling before heading to my friends house. We're going to work on a puzzle she's had out for months, making a brunch-style lunch (eggs, bacon, fruit - trying to stay away from relying on breads/grains in every meal). We're also going to workout together. I'm going to suggest a 22 min booty workout from FitOn, which is also a big favorite that I haven't done in like a year!
@PlaneMonkey you look SO great with your boat!! How fun. But if it's chilly here, I'm betting Canada doesn't feel quite like spring yet either....
@conleywoods awesome, awesome weigh-in!!
Happy weekend, team.

It's been a tough week! I'm glad the weekend is here! Happy weekend everyone!!6 -
@planemonkey Wow! Great boat and look at you lookin even better too. Looks like a very fun summer in your future.
@Kali225 Great job getting back on track! Keep up on your habit tracker and you will reap the benefits.
@ashleycarole86 LOVE the new profile picture! You need to post some before and after pictures when you're ready.
@micki48 hope your party for Juliet went well. My 11 year old son had his birthday party today too. Lots of fun! We had a pizza chef themed party and happy kids for sure!
After the party I lifted weights and then took the dog for a walk. I made a plan for food and I stuck with it. Pre logged the entire day. Fit in my slice of pizza and my cupcake. I met all of my macro and calorie goals. I need to put together a binder of all of my stuff from my wellness coach. This week I need to complete lessons on goal setting and work through my workbook before we meet next Friday.6 -

@bonnie_red great job! 1.6 lb gone this week, even though it was a tough one. WTG
@Kali225 you are lighting up! glad to help with the "encouragement" (aka holding you accountable) on the habit tracker - but getting those first steps done is all on you. Yesss!
I literally took the time to smell the flowers today during my walk in the woods. I slowed down more than usual, and thoroughly enjoyed the scent of the tiny spring flowers that are now springing up at last, and also a fallen fir tree that was blocking one of our paths - the very top of it was right there, and just rubbing the tiny top branches released so much of that amazing fir perfume. Lovely. I also got into my vegetable garden enclosure for the first time since the snow melted and started raking a bit. It is still too wet to till or add any compost but the time is coming soon! I'm looking forward to it.
Keep those numbers flowing in - we're going to wrap up the month of April soon! Quite a few gaps to fill:

It’s a slight improvement, yay! Decreasing serving sizes and salt has helped.
My job starts Monday and I’m going to a choral concert tomorrow afternoon to celebrate.
Happy new month, everyone!4 -
I am so sorry for my late weigh in 😭
CW 217.3lbs
I am having bad time as a parent 🥺
My son Dominick is 17 years old. He is eldest out of 3 boys. I also have 16 year old Adam and 13 year old Ben ♥️ and biggest child of all, 50 year old husband Shaun 😂
Anyway Dominick has passed his driving test yesterday 🎉 he was so happy about it - so were we 😁
Long story short Dominick played rugby for few years and made friends with 6 boys, but since he met his girlfriend he concentrated on her - Edie. He was with her for 2.5 years and she broke off on Christmas Day (😡) last year. When Dominick was with Edie she was his world. He slightly neglected his other friends because he was so much in love, bless him 🥰
Since she broke up with him in December he was heartbroken 😢 I tried my best but he just stayed in his room for the first month, but he talked to me about how sad he feels and how unhappy he is. I was asking him to get together with his friends, rugby boys again but he said they aren't inviting him anymore etc ...
To my delight he started going out with his friends again three weeks ago 😃 I was delighted he is living the life again 😊
Yesterday he passed his driving test and tonight he went out to celebrate with his friends 🥳 I thought he is happy .... until this evening .... 😢
At 23.15 my mobile phone rung, it was one of Dominick's friends. He told me that Dominick's drink must have been spiked because he is lying on the floor paraletic 😭 can I come and pick him up. After that phone call I've had another half a dozen from different friends. I know them all from rugby days.
I got my husband up and we jumped in the car to get Dominick. He was in town about 20 minutes away. The drive felt like forever!
When we finally got there, Dominick was walking in the car park in circles
Three friends were with him, there was also Police because it was busy place with three bars next to each other. There was people everywhere!
The Police officers told me that Dominick's drink was spiked and his friends called ambulance for him but it won't get here for 3 hours!
We took Dominick home. In the car he was soooooooo upset! He cried all the way home, telling us he wants to kill himself because he misses Edie - his ex girlfriend so much! Whatever we, parents said, wasn't enough - he was still crying 😭
As soon as we got home, he changed. He was hyper, doing "roly-pollys" and dancing and wanting to fight .... Crazy! I'm pretty sure his drink was spiked!
Anyway it took 3 hours for him to calm down and go to sleep!
So now I'm on watch. It is 3am in UK at the moment. I don't want him to get sick and be .... Whatever. I'm really worried.
Until tonight I never realised he was still soooo much in love with his ex. I didn't realize he was so unhappy 🥺
My question to you all....
How can I help him feel better about himself?
What can I say to make it better?
I'm his mum so he thinks that I will say anything to make him feel better about himself ♥️
Parenting is so hard! I wish I could take all the worries away ♥️
Have a lovely weekend everyone ❤️

Ohh ells_bellz that is so hard. They have to live their lives and suffer the angst that only teenaged emotions can feel. How horrible that his drink was spiked which probably triggered this emotional breakdown. He's likely not as in love with the ex as this reaction is saying, it's just the result of the situation. It makes everything more extreme. I'm not a 'real' parent, but I agree that it is incredibly hard. Just keep supporting him. The fact that his friends were all there with him and weren't afraid to call you for help speaks volumes on how much they care for him and respect you as his parents to come help. They didn't try to hide the situation or run away to avoid blame.
It seems horrible right now but in the light of day you will all be able to talk about it and help him through any emotional issues he's having. Likely he won't remember everything he's said after the drugs have worn off so it will be your choice hos to approach it.
Hugs to you, just keep being a support and he will pull through.2 -
So I did a lot of wandering around the property today as we tried to reposition trailers, (of which there are now too many!) and I went up and down the 46 stairs to the waterfront a few times placing the kayaks back on their racks and fixing little things and my Garmin decided to tell MFP that all my movements today are worth an extra 1600 calories. I'm not even allowed to eat 1600 calories a day! This is why I can't join the step team or add my exercise calories to my diary. I can't trust my device. 13421 steps shouldn't be worth double my daily calorie intake.... Should it?
Thank you everyone for the lovely comments. I tend to do a double take when I see my photo now, I don't recognize myself.
Yesterday was super cold with the wind but today I overheated with the yardwork so decided I'd go for a quick swim to cool off. Also because it's April still and I'm a bit extreme. Well, I'll tell you, it was cold! I was refreshed instantly! The water was 8°C/47°F. But now I can say I swam in our lake in October and April!
@ashleycarole86 I love the new profile pic! I'm sure the people in the office are astounded as most people during the pandemic went in the other direction!
@conleywoods I've been googling practitioners in my area who use that machine you mentioned. I'm so intrigued with the composition knowledge you're gaining and good for you on shifting your focus to weekly goals instead of daily. That takes extra discipline.
Looking forward to May, but mostly for May being over as the last weekend we will host a 'memorial' for my dad and I know it will be an emotional roller-coaster planning and executing the event, even if it's just a backyard gathering for close family and friends. C'est la vie! I will not turn to food to make me feel better. That is one thing I've learned.5 -
@ells_bellz I hope your watch is going more quietly now and that your son is able to get some rest. I remember when my daughter's boyfriend broke up with her on new year's eve - she was quite a wreck for a while, and I got very worried a few times. For right now, you're going to make sure he's safe. If he needs help, be sure he gets it - but most likely, he needs time to keep going through this and coming out the other side. They learn so much, but it is so hard! Hugs to you4

@ells_bellz That is really hard and I am so glad his friends called you. Obviously he has some good friends. My oldest is 12 so we are just starting down this path. One thing I focus on with my daughter is it's normal to experience a range of feelings. It's okay to feel really sad when sad things happen. All parents want to fix things for their kids and sometimes we can't. Just keep supporting him. Hugs❤2
