HOW IT ALL WORKS: The May challenge runs from May 1 - 28. F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!

Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard.

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or are moved to the Support Team for longer. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

FAQ for New Shape Shifters Members

How do I post my weigh in?

    Userid
    (Day of Week) Weigh-in
    PW: 204 lbs (previous weight)
    CW: 202 lbs (current weight)
LTD: 12 lbs (optional loss to date)

Where is the Weigh in stats spreadsheet?
Start at the Fat2Fit Main Page and under the header information, you’ll see a section at the bottom that says “TO ACCESS THE SPREADSHEETS FOR JANUARY CLICK HERE” followed by the link in blue. Once you click on that link, it will take you to the Summary page. Find Shape Shifters on the tabs at the bottom and click on that and that brings you to the stats page. Also on this page (scrolling down), you’ll find the Step Challenge chart as well. This is where we record your daily steps if you sign up to be part of the monthly step challenge. More info on how to sign up is below! Join us!

How often should I post in the chatroom?

Whenever you have a question, suggestion, story, news announcement or just want to brighten someone's day!! There's never too much...and please share recipes, tips, laughs, challenges, cartoons, pictures of your pets, pictures from walks you've taken, etc...we love it all!!

What if I have to be out of town during my weigh in?

Send a message to one of the Captains (JessicaKrall8 or TheMrWobbly) in the chatroom or in a private message on MFP's mail and let her know your circumstance...if it's just for a week or two, you can be excused from the weigh-in. If you must leave for longer than a month, you may be moved to our support team until you return. When you're ready to come back, send another message and the MODS will move you back to active status.

What happens if I miss a weigh in?

If you're late, you'll be marked as LWI (late weigh in). If you fail to report in at all, you'll be labeled as NWI (no weigh in). After two NWIs, you're put on the drop list if you explanation has been provided. It's always best to let your Captain know what's going on and she'll make sure you're covered.

How do I sign up for the Step Challenge?

Send the Captains a message that you'd like to join, provide your daily step goal and tell her your favorite place to walk. It's that simple!

Do I have to re-register each month to remain part of Team Shape Shifters?

No, your membership will carry over month to month. The only place where this is NOT true is for the Step Challenge. You have to sign up each month to participate in it and this gives you the opportunity to adjust your daily step goal.

If I've missed anything or questions arise, just post them! We'll find the information you need as much as possible! Hope this helps!

    Welcome!
    Jessica

    Good Morning,
My name is Jen. I'm new to this group. My team is "Shape Shifters" I just wanted to say Hi! I'm interested in joining the step challenge for the month of May. My step goal is 9000 steps/ 7km a day. I enjoy evening walks at night with my daughter. On weekends I enjoy going to different locations to walk around there! Living in Southern Alberta, Canada we dress in layers or pack extra to be ready for all 4 seasons in one day ;) Mother Nature is very fickle lol

So, I'm halfway through evening walk and thought I would check in. I just got back from day tubing down a local spring. This was my first time. There were turtles and there qere also, unfortunately, snakes and an alligator. One of my kids sort of broke down emotionally halfway through. I guess he inherited that from me.

I have been trying to stay very active the past week. I suffer from severe depression at times, amd.the past couple weeks have been challenging to say the least. That is what has contributed to my past and current weight struggles. I had gained over 20 pounds of the 100+ I had lost back, so I'm working to get back on track now.

Cleaned my bedroom, washed the bedsheet, my pillow and stuffed animal. Didn't have the energy to go for a walk.
While I was out in the garden with Tinus, he was sniffing some bushes. He then put his nose in the air, looked crosseyed and just had an all over expression of 'wtf is that'. So I went over to pet his head, got a wet hand, realized his head was covered in foul smelling cat or dog pee. So we went into the backyard, cleaned up myself and then Tinus with one of those pet wet wipes. They are unscented which normally is great, but now meant his head was still stinky. So I added a drop of peppermint oil to another wipe, cleaned him again. And then a 3rd time with a wet washcloth. Probably the cleanest his head has been in his life. But ugh, I hate it when pets are left to roam free and do stuff like that. It was in my front yard. I have been wanting a low fence around my garden for a while, because it's not the first time I find 'surprises' and it's just so gross. So hopefully I can set that up with my dad soon.
    Happy Sunday everyone <3

Poor Tinus!! Bless his heart...rude roaming animal!! Your Tinus sounds like a gentle soul, just like my Hazel. She loves to play chase the shoestring and her favorite thing is for me to wrap them around her and then she can go spin and get out of them...I'm always telling her "Hazel, it's on your butt" and she takes off to go resolve that! LOL You'll have to give Tinus a few head rubs from me today!!! How large is the area you'd have to fence? My neighbor just had to replace their fence and I know it can be expensive, but if you're doing a lower fence (2-3 ft), it might not be too much. What do you plant in your garden area? Vegetables or mainly flowers?

I'm just piddling around today...tried baking a new dessert for an upcoming dinner party I'm planning with a friend. Washed a load of clothes. Walked, of course...today is the new month and I'm starting on my goal for May. Thank goodness my feet are cooperating! Hope you have a lovely Sunday as well, @Pupowl !

@Jax_Grim - I’m sorry you (& other fellow Shape Shifters) have to deal with chronic depression, which can be so draining. It sounds as though you’ve learned some good coping skills that are helping you manage the depression and I’m glad you are reducing stigma by talking about it.

Whether your children face depression or not, you are contributing to their ability to feel compassion and become more resilient by your positive example.

The tubing sounds like it turned from a peaceful experience to a scary ‘adventure’ — Yikes! Some people might be more used to alligators and snakes than me, but that sounds frightening to this city dweller. I love nature, and spend most vacations outdoors, but I try to avoid alligators (& lions, tigers, and bears — oh my!)

Your walk sounds like a good way to decompress. Did you see anything interesting along the way? Today’s challenge encourages us to describe our walk so I hope you’ll share about it, here:

Kicked off my personal walking challenge for May with 1.68 miles today. My goal is 44 miles this month. I'm hopeful! Feet are getting back to normal after I discovered my error. Really wish I had a walking buddy nearby, but I don't...gotta work on that. Hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday. I am off to read before bed. Gonna be a busy week. I'm not ready for Monday! :disappointed:

@LaurieWrobo - I agree that the habit tracker is a useful tool. I see that the Mission Slimpossible team has the most people participating and they are on the leaderboard this month so maybe there’s a connection.

I also really like the habit tracker, though I have only started using it the past couple of months. It's really nice to see what you still need to work on and areas you already do well in. While the goal is to get everything checked off of course, that's not realistic if you are working on new habits. If I tick the box every day for a month, then it's not something I need to be tracking anymore. So it's nice to see how the month goes and trying to refine what to focus on for the next one.

Yeah, he is a very sweet cat, I still feel super lucky I found him at the shelter. He has a lot of toys, but he also likes really simple things, like a paper ball. I think for my front yard I would need around 25 meters total, but I am not entirely sure, never measured it. Plus two gates; one for the front door and one for the driveway. I don't have a car, but I do need to be able to get out with my bike. I mostly have plants that are useful for bees, butterflies or birds. I have some chives, but I don't use that for myself. Same with Moroccan mint (though I love touching the plants and smelling them). Otherwise no fruit of veg. I am considering getting strawberries since I love those and they are pretty easy to keep.

    May 1 ~ Sunday
    Steps: 15.896
I had a pretty good sleep, finally managed to go to bed on time for a change. Started my morning with a 50 minute walk. It was very quiet at 7:30 on a Sunday which was great. Saw some flowers, a stork and 2 bird of prey making love. They were really far away, so I didn't see exactly what they were. I did some more laundry and tidying up of my shed. Getting somewhere with that now. Still a few things to throw out and boxes to flatten. My food went well until I effed up in the afternoon. There wasn't a reason for it either since I had a pretty good day so that was dumb.
I don't have great pictures of my walk, just a few boring ones so I will put them under the spoiler.
    Happy Monday everyone <3

    4/1 steps - 15233

I went on two 2.5 mule walks yesterday. I did one early and one late evening. In between, I started filling up holes in the yard my dogs have made for me. You may be surprised at how big a hole a 150 lb mastiff can dig.

I've also started working on a making an area outside to relax. It's a section of the yard that is mostly unused, so I'm converting it. I'm enclosing the area in privacy fencing. I've planted some fragrant bushes like gardenias, and I have some comfortable chairs on order. I'm hoping it will be a nice little hideaway.

    Calling All Shape Shifters

For this week’s F2F Challenge, we’re testing out a crowdsourcing way of sharing leadership - and a commitment to generating one idea from group participants each day Sunday through Saturday - so I’m hoping a few of you will support the effort.

@jessicakrall8 started us off on Sunday, challenging the F2F community to take a walk and share what we saw along the way. It’s so interesting to learn about the members (Shape Shifters and members of other teams) and some of the photos they posted are wonderful!

I posted today’s challenge about setting up our environment to succeed in building the positive habits we want to establish for self improvement.

Is there anyone else from our team who is willing to post an idea this week?

This is an easy way to give back to the community of supporters with a one-time action. Research shows that giving brings more happiness to our lives so this is clearly a win-win! 🤩

I’m including some ideas we can use below, and I’m sure you all have better ones to keep the challenge lively, purposeful, and fun — that’s the best part of crowdsourcing!

    Brainstorming Challenge Ideas:
-Take a break from your desk and do 10 push-ups, either on the floor or against the wall.
-Say or do something nice to/for someone today. Tell us about the experience.
-Share an inspirational quote that keeps you going on a bad day.
-Recruit someone else from your F2F group to join this week’s challenge.
-What is something you’d like to celebrate today? Tell us what you’re proud of and we’ll celebrate together!

I hope you don’t mind that I nominated you to lead tomorrow (Tuesday) @izzyred9400 based on your offer to help when Jessica put out the request. If you don’t want to do it, no worries. I sent a friend request/direct message so we can plan as needed.

Is anyone else willing to play?

Yukie_OP -- May is a month where I will be on the support team.
My focus this month is to log study hours* not a student, work related
Not sure about you all, but I can't seem to (successfully) focus on more than 1-2 main goals at a time: If I try maintain too many habits/goals, i tend to make minimal progress across the board.

@jessicakrall8 - still want to remain on the step challenge, I'll lower my goal to 6,000 steps.
    Steps for 5/1- 11,087
