Good morning @LaurieWrobo ! I just noticed something in recording your steps for the week...you and I tend to have similar walking/step patterns! Our numbers are quite close. Do you use Fitbit or another brand of step tracker? Would love to add you as a friend on Fitbit so we can do challenges sometime...let me know! I think I'm listed as JessicaK on Fitbit...email is jakrall@cox.net so please add me! Others on the team are welcome to add me to, but please send me a message and let me know you're doing so. I don't automatically accept all requests...as there are some STRANGE requests I've seen...it's a little scary...
I've been on vacation this week...was busy is some regards as I tried to do some much needed maintenance to my house, go to the doctor, get something accomplished every day, but still take some much needed down time as work has been hectic lately and I really NEEDED this break. Haven't been posting much this week, so wanted to check in on everybody...how's your week been? Yesterday was a scorcher in Virginia and today is 20 degrees cooler, so much better and breathable! Starting to clean out my kitchen cabinets, go through and get rid of clutter, box up the keepables and get ready for my kitchen renovation which will start in the latter part of July. Question of the day...just how many knives and plastic storage containers does one need?! OMG I have a lot of stuff! Will be good to let go of some of it!! Wish I had time for a yard sale, but that would be more work...and I don't have the energy for it.
Well, hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful start to their weekend! Hope to catch up with all of you soon!! Enjoy your day!
Jessica
Hi Jessica! Wow, what a busy week. Mine was okay, work is very stressful (I'm a department administrator at Yale) and we're hiring people who all need visas and the international stuff can get complicated. The good news is I'm turning a bedroom into a home gym and I finally got the last item for it - a recumbent bike. Plan on putting it together today (fingers crossed as I'm not the most handy, lol!)
I love to hear people's decluttering story and laughed out loud when I saw your "question of the day" It's amazing how much stuff one can amass over time. I'm working on a clothing purge myself - I have a ton of clothes in a size 8 that I know, even with a significant weight loss, I'll never fit in again. It's time to let that stuff go!
Have a great weekend, all!

Hi Susanna, So sorry about everyone in Montana dealing with the heat and the floods, etc. I spoke with a lovely woman in Montana when I called Bank of America about my savings account yesterday afternoon. She was about my age. Her family is trying to get her to move to South Carolina (closer to them), but she and her husband are staying put! That's true Montana grit! Prayers for all and best wishes to you! (Hope that swelling goes down soon!)
Thanks for the well wishes! The swelling is going down a tiny bit. I can actually see a little bit of my ankle on my left foot this morning - for over a week now, my feet, ankles & legs look like tree stumps - crazy!2 -
My biggest motivators are seeing steady progress, increase in energy, quality of sleep and overall well-being...AND also showing all those who seem to be trying to sabotage and discourage by constantly reminding of former "failed" attempts that they are WRONG!

Hello Shape Shifters. Yesterday was really nasty hot and humid day. I left home to head for a walk around 6:25, and thankfully the sun didn't really show up until late in the morning. So it was pretty okay weather to walk, though I felt like a whale on land. Some days the walk just feels really rough; a lot of the paths were a bit sandy which didn't help. I saw a lot of cool birds I don't often see. One of them was a red-backed shrike which I have only seen once before so that was pretty cool.
I decided to cancel my gym membership. I mentioned that I struggled with finding a balance before: gym 3x a week means no energy for walks. The gym is also harder for me because of the social aspect. I sometimes just don't have the spoons to interact with people. I found myself often having to skip because I wasn't feeling well. A membership isn't cheap either, so I decided to go back to my walks. I went for a walk 3 mornings in a row without any problems and I can tell that it is doing me a lot more good mentally than the gym did. I hope it will stay that way. Some pictures under the spoiler as usual.
I would also love to have fitbit friends. @jessicakrall8 I keep getting errors when I try to add you. I don't know what my username is, but my email is porcelain@live.nl ~ If anyone wants to friend me on fitbit, that would be cool.5 -
@pupowl Sent you an invite! Wow, this will be fun! Let me know once you get it!! Just don't kick my booty too hard on our challenges...you'll hurt my feelings! LOL I'll try to keep up, I promise!
As always I adore your pictures...you keep sharing your gift gal! We all love your pictures!

@LaurieWrobo Sent you an email...hope you got it! I'll try my best to keep up with you!!
I did a challenge a couple of weeks ago and ended up doing nearly 15k steps in a day and I suffered for a week afterward, so I can push, but I can't push so much that I get down and can't work. Wish I wasn't so darned competitive sometimes...it's hard to tell myself no! LOL
Hope you're enjoying your Saturday!

Hello Shape Shifters. I had a bit of a lazy Saturday. It was really hot again, so I wasn't really in the mood for much. Tinus was super lazy too. When we went for a 'walk' outside, he just decided to nap in the grass. It was cute, but also very boring for me, so I eventually just brought a sudoko book outside to have something to do. Around 12:00 I noticed I had no water in the house. Nothing to drink, nothing to flush the toilet, not able to do laundry. Since it was so hot, that wasn't ideal. I saw online you could pick up 5 liter bottles at the service van. They expected the issue to last until 19:00 so I decided to pick one up. They were working 2 streets over so it wasn't a big deal. I was glad I did so I could at least drink and take my headache pills. It took around 5 hours before they fixed the problem.
Happy Sunday everyone

("Metabolic age" still higher than my true age of almost 64!)
Chilly and gloomy in Boston today - not even 60 degrees at 1pm! (For those dealing with heat waves and storms, hope you get some relief soon!)
So it's no change for last week, but maybe that's because I'm still working off the banquet from Wednesday and all the salty foods I've been eating? Who knows? At least I broke even, probably from all that walking. I will try to keep up my food and step diary all week along with the walking and hopefully I will show more progress on 06/26.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week ahead!

Sorry to hear how the shortage is affecting you. I feel so bad for parents with babies right now.
Thank you! It's definitely been rough but it could be so much worse.3 -

@LaurieWrobo Enjoy your vacation!
@pupowl Tinus is a smart one picking the shade for lounging! Glad you found water while yours was out! Hot and thirsty is NOT a good combination!
Congrats to all who lost this week! Appears it was a tough week for many...so I hope this next week is better!

Incase anyone wondered how much we flooded, This is a picture of what this river typically looks like vs how bad it flooded. That was so crazy. Luckily the water has gone down again, but we got a ton more rain today so hopefully that doesnt cause an issue again.7 -
