Good morning all & welcome to @Bumblesandbees.It has been quite windy here but still very hot.Been here a week & I feel my shorts are a bit tighter already eek !! The food is lovely & hard to resist ice cream in the sun.Also we eat out every evening & drink wine & other alcoholic beverages.It is difficult as I want to enjoy my holiday but don't want to struggle to lose it when I get home.
@PatriceFitnessPal I am joining the conversation a bit late but I enjoy the weekly challenges.I like the variety of different topics to focus on.When you have been on this journey a long time like I have its good to liven things up,otherwise I get bored.I am motivated by other members positive comments & I do try normally to tag people in response.

Hello Shape Shifters. Yesterday was really nasty hot and humid day. I left home to head for a walk around 6:25, and thankfully the sun didn't really show up until late in the morning. So it was pretty okay weather to walk, though I felt like a whale on land. Some days the walk just feels really rough; a lot of the paths were a bit sandy which didn't help. I saw a lot of cool birds I don't often see. One of them was a red-backed shrike which I have only seen once before so that was pretty cool.
I decided to cancel my gym membership. I mentioned that I struggled with finding a balance before: gym 3x a week means no energy for walks. The gym is also harder for me because of the social aspect. I sometimes just don't have the spoons to interact with people. I found myself often having to skip because I wasn't feeling well. A membership isn't cheap either, so I decided to go back to my walks. I went for a walk 3 mornings in a row without any problems and I can tell that it is doing me a lot more good mentally than the gym did. I hope it will stay that way. I would also love to have fitbit friends. @jessicakrall8 I keep getting errors when I try to add you. I don't know what my username is, but my email is porcelain@live.nl ~ If anyone wants to friend me on fitbit, that would be cool.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos I can relate to what you said about canceling your gym membership. I canceled mine when they starting charging again after the lockdown because I didn't want to have to waste time taking the bus to the gym, working out in a mask, and taking a bus back home. It didn't feel right anymore, and I was lacking the motivation to do that. I'm doing cardio and steps, following along with YouTube videos (and walking outside when it's nice) and I believe I'll do much better this way, and I know you will, too!1 -

Lovely pictures! I can imagine it is really hard to find a balance when on vacation. I am one of those rare people who doesn't enjoy alcohol at all, so I would just go for all the food! Seems more worth it to me than drinking a bunch of empty calories.

Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed the pictures. Phew, I can't imagine having to work out in a mask! That alone would have been enough for me to throw in the towel. Thankfully they never went that far here; you just had to wear one when you came in and when you left. Youtube videos can be really fun too, I also did that for a while and will probably do that again when the weather is bad. Nice loss this week. Stopping emotional eating is really difficult so I applaud you.

Steps 19 June: 17.537
Hello Shape Shifters. I had a fairly quiet Sunday. It had cooled down quite a bit which was really nice. I went for a short walk around the fields here in the afternoon. It was a bit cloudy and I was afraid it would rain, so I left my camera at home. I saw some nice things, so that was too bad. My phone does a really bad job when it comes to taking pictures, but I did take some. I especially enjoyed the lone mushroom in the middle of June.
I am still worried about Tinus. I feel like his walking just keeps getting worse and the medication doesn't seem to help anymore. It also feels like there is nothing I can do about it; he got checked by the vet twice, so there is nothing left to do. I may still contact them sometime this week just to get their thoughts. I hate seeing him in pain.

Welcome @Bumblesandbees to our team. I see that your starting weight is fairly low so I would like to check and see if perhaps you reported in kgs rather than lbs? Please advise as we always request our weights be reported as pounds to be consistent. I will need to correct the table so please urgently advise. Again welcome to the team and good luck for July!

@angmarie28 I'm so sorry about the flooding...a few years ago, my brother and his wife (now deceased) lost their home and nearly everything in the flooding in Kentucky...it's heart breaking! Hope all of your family is ok!

Not so "rare" I don't enjoy alcohol at all - I haven't had an alcoholic drink in over 8+ years, and it was only because my ex begged me to have a drink with them - barely took a sip. My friends all say I'd be a "cheap date" because I don't even drink soda when dining out - only water. But they all seem to love gorgeous, fancy drinks - at $15/drink - way too pricey on my frugal budget2 -

Hello Shape Shifters. I got quite the number of steps on Monday and I didn't even feel like I did a lot! I started my day with an early walk. I have to give credit to @jessicakrall8 for this. I was super exhausted and my head hurt a lot when I woke up, so I had zero motivation to go walk. I had already put on my normal clothes instead of hiking pants; I was pretty set on not going. And then I got an invite on fitbit from you to do a bingo challenge which seemed like fun and this pushed me over into going out for a walk anyway, so thank you! Besides my head, my body felt pretty good and the walk was nice.
My garden is finally getting some flowers now. I noticed a hummingbird moth visiting a few times, and yesterday she showed up again while I was out with Tinus. So I ran inside to grab my camera to take some pictures. They are really hard to photograph because they are a bit like butterflies on crack; super duper fast. Thankfully I managed to get a good picture. I was really excited about that since they aren't that common here. Pictures of the walk and moth under the spoiler.
