@DaffyGirl88 awe I wasn’t trying to make you feel bad. It does take good balance and core strength. You did it the proper way, you should start and end on your knees and then stand after paddling out. Big trick is unweighing your feet so you don’t rock off balance, bending knees slightly and not gripping with your toes helps. Year 2 under my belt & I stay on just fine even in waves standing. I was a bit rocky at first too but I became one with the board faster than I thought I would. Not sure what you rented but I’m betting it was a hard board. The inflatables are easier IMO as long as you can get them to 15+ PSI. I see girls on the water doing wild yoga poses on theirs and have been tempted to try but then that voice in my head kicks in imagining someone laughing at the chubby lady and me going overboard looking like a fool. I’ve gotten really into the freestyle SUP so I’ve been focused in that arena which still sends me overboard but usually at the end of a cool trick. It’s also been a fun way to connect with my son who likes to skateboard & snowboard. My youngest daughter is all of the sudden interested in rock climbing and I find this exciting. I haven’t done it for 15 years but got into it to conquer my fear of heights and fell in love. I might get us into an indoor climbing gym this winter for more bonding + exercise.

I give you major props for trying & kudos for bracing the jellyfish. I’m a landlocked freshwater girl. Heck we don’t have gators or anything to fear here except for the toxicity of an occasional algae bloom & radiation from Rocky Flats (why I’m always upstream from there). The few times I’ve visited the oceanI have spent nearly every second in those waters in terror. On my honeymoon my former spouse and I were exploring along a sand bar of Holbox Island all day and didn’t realize we had crossed a river until the tide came in and we were on the track back. Had I known there were crocodiles there is no way I would have swam back across. Didn’t know until I was 3/4 the way there and a local yelled at me. Also jumped off fishing boat in the middle of the ocean because I was pressured to join the crew and swam next to a beautiful sea turtle. It was majestic but the moment but didn’t last long for fear something would come up and eat me. Another time on vacay with my kids I saw a shark fin approach my kiddos off Padre Island and I screamed at them to get out of the water. A short while after a baby shark washed ashore with a chunk missing from it. Needless to say I forced them to spend the rest of the day on the beach. I might be an adrenaline junkie but critters lurking in the depths both mystifies and terrifies me.

@JbeanR0212 I'm just giving you grief, I don't feel bad. It is sobering sometimes when I can barely stand on skis and a preschooler zips by on a snowboard. Reminds me of my first distance bike ride. A 65 yo man passed me THREE TIMES!! I only passed him because he got two flat tires. 😂 I was 45 at the time. I would definitely SUP again but will need a new guinea pig because my husband is one and done. Maybe I can talk @sandkp into joining me. 😁

Oh and yes it was a hard board. I rented it from the Navy. Their quality leaves a little to be desired but the price is right. Especially if you are just trying something out before investing $$$.

Scary creatures in the depths of the ocean that's for sure! 🥺

Apropos of nothing, almost every day lately I've typed up a reply to a post and hit Post only to log in hours later to find it sitting in my drafts. 🤬🤬🤬

I love all of everything I just read!

You know when you are surrounded by heat and humidity for so many days of the year, it actually promotes hermit-tidess!! -Besides the obvious vitamin D deficit, the major symptom of this disease is actually forgetting that there really are activities that can still be done outside!

If there’s an opportunity to go do something my first question is: where are we going? Second question: is there a/c?

Also it is true! My daughter(Kyndall) is going to be 17 and I’m going to be 38 this August! ☺️
Thanks for just giving me the most ultimate early-birthday present ever and making me feel younger than I am! Lol

    Week 4

No loss this week, but also no gain. We were away again for a long weekend, but this time staying with mothers in law.
I'm trying to keep as active as possible, bit really I need to focus on logging all my calories again.

We had huge forest fires around my town, and they've just opened up the area again. It is eerie and disorientating without the usual bushes and vegetation.

I am still mountain climbing but working on a plan. While not the only thing making the rise cause food exercise is a big part, I think my hormones are playing with me right now too so trying to work the big puzzle out.

I have a question for you all about vitamins supplements... do you take anything and if so, reasons for doing so. In October when I did my restart, I stopped everything extra from going in.. no vitamins supplements meds nothing...not even a tylenol or motrin. I am thinking I need to dive into why some may be a good thing to start / implement in my new adjustments coming soon.

@sandkp I'll jump in! I take several, I'll list them below along with my reasons.

Calcium - because I have osteoporosis
Vitamin D - because I am deficient and it's required for calcium absorption
Magnesium - need it to poop (TMI probably LOL)
Potassium - helps relieve leg cramps, which I get every night. Every. Night.

    Exercise: Yes - 💪323 kcal’s : 1hr. Walk + 17 min. Of stretching ⛑ +12 PAI (185), 👟 12,558

Goals/Day/Comments: Fighting the comforts of the pantry/fridge & couch. Logged dinner the best I could but visited former in-laws and didn’t prepare the food so 🤷‍♀️. Didn’t help matters when they mentioned they were still “shocked by how things ended with ‘my’ proposal” and how “sad it ‘was’ because ‘they’ grew really attached to ‘H’ the last 4 years.” 🙄 Tell me about it 😢! Reminding myself that I’m only a few months in and while I have more to work through, I’ve come a long ways ❤️‍🩹. Even if it’s just baby steps, gotta grab those boot straps and keep moving forward.

Sorry I have not been around, with my ankle I kind of spiraled back into my normal hermit ways of not communicating with anyone I don't live with. I'm one of those people that could go hide in the woods for a decade and not see another soul and still not be lonely.

@DaffyGirl88 I will be out next week for weigh in. I'm leaving Friday for vacation and will not be back till the following Sunday.

@Naija82 Thank you! And I understand about the being hungry. Tuesdays are my biggest workout day, I spin in the morning, walk with a friend at lunch, and do a circuit training class after work. Come Wednesday I am STARVING! Luckily it's my one day a week in the office and I don't have access to my kitchen. I pack a bunch of healthy snacks and head to work. Normally that is sufficient but today I was surprised with birthday brownies, which would've been rude to refuse (honestly I don't care for brownies. Luckily they had chocolate chips). And THEN I had a grandson. Enough said there. 😁

@DaffyGirl88 congrats on the big healthy grandson🍼👶! That’s so exciting🥳! And how cool is it you share a birthday 🎂 ? When the kids go back to school in a few weeks I might have to carve out some time to return to the NICU as a volunteer baby snuggler.

Regarding you message to me……… ❤️ I don’t know how to respond. Working back through the phases of grief and currently blending in is the one I like the least (anger). But hey it fueled todays work outs ⛽️🥊. I’ve lived my life as a hard @$$ Ms. Congenial (a title I‘ve literally held before 😉) but I feel things very deeply and am by nature incredibly sensitive. I’m very much a 🧜‍♀️ pisces 🐶dog (western/eastern zodiac) and darn near the epitome of both, always on a rollercoaster 🎢. That said, I’ve had a hard knocks life and I’ll get through this too. I appreciate your concern and apologize for causing you any. I try really hard to avoid having a pessimistic outlook or mucking up the waters by mixing that in but I‘ve obviously failed here. I may have gotten too comfortable with this group. Sorry for weighing ya’ll down. I’ll make a conscious effort to avoid oversharing.

@sandkp the only thing I take daily is my multivitamin because supps can add so many cals. I try really hard to get my nutrients from my food. That said, I do lean into foods that are high in potassium & magnesium for muscle recovery. I try to get in that calcium but that’s tough on a deficit so I‘ve been known to lean into Tums. Occasionally I‘ll take fish/super omega oils (if I haven’t had much fish or otherwise) because of heavy family history cardiovascular stuff. Occasionally I‘ll mix in collagen for my muscles and vanity (more the idea of stretch marks/loose skin over wrinkles). I also try to get good vitamin C and Iron (I live with hemophilia and don’t absorb iron well which causes bouts of anemia and vitamin C helps with iron absorption), this might lead me to adding some extra vitamin K for this reason. I‘ll take proibiotics for gut and feminine health if I haven’t consumed much yogurt, kumbacha or other fermentations. Occasionally ginger, peppermint, lemon, cayenne, chamomile & licorice root or bromelian for gut health too. I’m early onset perimenopause and so at times I’ll add in supps for that too (evening primrose oil, ginsing, red clover, spirulina, rose hip). If my joints are bugging me (usually winter) I’ll take coq10. Obviously I‘ll dose up on the zinc when I‘m feeling sick. If I‘m trying to detox my PTSD meds I‘ll take charcoal but that clogs the pipes, I might add a shot of vinegar to my water too.

I do keep regular communication with my PCP though and have to watch for counteractions with some of the above mentioned. I always recommend talking with your physician before making any changes.
