@micki48 I hope your second round of covid isn't rough on you both. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
I made the green tomato chutney last night after going out for ingredients. It took me 2 hours to prepare the tomatoes and onions because they were so small; wish I'd bought onions rather than using the allotment ones lol. This morning the house stinks of vinegar, and I have a feeling I'm not going to like the chutney. Hopefully OH does, as it made rather a lot more than I was expecting!
My fruit trees arrived yesterday so I bought pots whilst I was out; I plan to pot them temporarily (and sink the pots into the ground so they don't fall over) whilst I decide on and prep the ground for their final placement. OH went to the allotment yesterday morning and finished the base for the greenhouse, which means we're looking good for finishing it over the weekend.
It was weigh in day today and my weight is up again, but I had McDonalds last night as it was on the retail park. I'm glad I did, due to the effort involved in making the chutney, but it means I'm not sure how much of the weight gain is water retention etc. I'll probably have the same issue next week as, with travelling for work, it'll be fast food on Wednesday night again. I'm anxious about work at the moment and feeling overwhelmed/out of my depth. Between that and frustrations over making the chutney, I wrote chocolate x3 and biscuits x full pack on my BED tracking sheet last night for my final snack. I did have the chocolate, but didn't open the biscuits, so I crossed them out before going to bed. Previously, I'd have had all that and probably gotten up for more.
I'm tired, can't wait for the weekend, and have some underlying anxiety, but I'm in a good mood today!6 -

I am so behind. I can't keep up. October was insane for me and I am ready for it to be over!!!! My weight stayed about the same all month. I really need to cut back on snacking if I want to lose weight.
Also, my field trip to the Pumpkin Patch was canceled. We had horrible winds on Sunday and several of their tents broke. They had to close Monday for repairs4 -
So sorry to hear about a new bout of covid @micki48 and about your cancelled trip and crazy schedule @KellyBgetsfit - it sounds like wrapping up October is a good thing for sure.
@conleywoods I hope the little guy feels better fast - you are amazing for getting the workouts and macros right in spite of it all.
@DD265 you are getting there with the allotment! I cannot believe the amazing work you have put in there. I relate all too well to the green tomato chutney story, though. I made a colossal batch of green tomato relish last year (an amazing recipe with turmeric - nothing tastes better on a grilled cheese sandwich!), and it will never be finished. There is way too much and I can't give away more - it is something used in moderation, and even though it is delicious, there is a limit! I did not make any this year - but luckily had very few green tomatoes this year as well, so I did not feel like I was wasting food. Start planning lots of lovely visits with friends and giving away jars of your chutney if you have too many!
I'm having my first visit with a new trainer today. I have been wafting along without one for quite a long time, and it is time to get some advice and inspiration. I always do my Pilates and a decent amount of moving around, but I need to keep the muscles strong, which gets harder at this age. My hit-or-miss approach is not cutting it! I hope this guy is good - he comes highly recommended by my physiotherapist. It feels good to be taking some steps and trying something new, at least.
Time for chores and other excitements - have a good one!6 -
Good morning!! New here... just joined yesterday to start the November challenge. My name is Cristy. I'm 48, married with 2 adult girls (19 & 23). I started off 3 weeks ago at 165 lbs and am now down to 157.2 with a goal of 145, but would love to get closer to 135 if I can. I'm struggling with pre-menopause and all the fun that goes with that including the menopause belly and difficulty in losing weight. After getting my lab results from my Dr 3 weeks ago that indicated I officially have high cholesterol after being borderline for a while, I decided it was time to get my life together. I don't want to take medication if I don't absolutely have to, so I changed my diet, starting taking natural supplements, and exercising. I'm going back to the Dr in 3 months to run labs again, so I'm hoping all of these changes will make a difference. I'm looking forward to getting know you all and being part of a supportive group. Thanks for letting me join!7

@DianaGetsFit512 Thanks for the tip. They have 30+ cases of pink eye at my sons school which started about 10 days ago. My husband teaches there and it's so bad. I have a really great eye doctor and vision therapy team for my other son who definitely has complex vision stuff. He is doing better already. What do you do for a living?4 -
Thanks for the well wishes. I’m doing well enough that I went outside and pulled up what’s left of my tomato plants. My garden is at rest. Hubby is running a fever and has an impressive cough. I have no fever, but definitely feel like I have a bad cold with an odd little dizzy here and there. @ashleycarole86 thanks for letting me know you had it twice. I was feeling a bit like a pariah. My symptoms are a bit more this time, but I am not taking paxlovid this time.
I’m happy to say I am holding on to that loss so far. I was 209.8 this am and yesterday. I have also been logging my food. That’s a pretty big deal because I can’t remember the last time I did. I know it’s an important piece of the puzzle for me.
@jugar So exciting to have time with a trainer. I totally believe having something new in the plan helps keep up the motivation/determination. Can’t wait to hear about it.
@conleywoods Sorry to hear about your little guy. Our class has had a couple cases of pinkeye. We also have two littles in the other PreK who are hospitalized with RSV. 😞
It’s a gorgeous day here. But not sure I’m going to be able to get my steps in being isolated.
@ashleycarole86 i will post my steps on another post below. No worries if you are done the results. Just add them to the month. I totally forgot in this mess.

Just found out that our department at work won't be forced back to the office more than twice a month for the foreseeable future so I am doing my happy dance! Great timing on finding out because I was about to shell out for IT equipment for my home setup that I can now forget about
Happy dances burn calories, right? 😉5 -

You have so got this!! I am post-menopause, but went through the same stuff as you. Losing even a reasonable amount of weight will make a huge difference in your cholesterol and other stuff. I lost all the weight during menopause and have kept it off for 10 years, so use me as an example of what is possible if it helps! You CAN do this. You have to work at it, but yep - those labs in 3 months are going to look better. So glad you are here! Ask all the questions, and keep us updated on how things are going. Where are you located? We're nosy and love to know...

@wishfuljune Welcome! I see in your sign-up that you are not completely certain of your starting weight. The best thing to do, since your chosen weigh-in day is Friday, would be to weigh yourself tomorrow, Friday, and post here what that weight is. Then, always try to weigh in around the same time of day every week. Some people like to weigh in first thing in the morning before eating, but if you always weigh in around the same time of day, it does not really matter. We're always heavier after eating, but as long as you are consistent, you should have a good idea of how your weight is changing.
Some come on by and introduce yourself - we're happy to have some new members with new energy!4 -
Well, this was a good day. I did not get the most exercise or the fewest calories, but it was wonderful to meet my new trainer. We really hit it off - he has the kind of approach I like a lot, and he was happy that I am active and have good body awareness. Today was mostly evaluation and sharing about what I am looking for - next he will send me a program and we'll meet next week to try it all out. The evaluation was interesting - it was not about how much weight I could pick up or move, but about all my joints' mobility and how much strength vs range of motion. For example, I can move my hip very far while lying on my back, but the same motion while standing is more limited. Strength needed, range of motion good! Shoulders also have more mobility than strength. I think this will be really interesting, and hopefully will build strength AND mobility, function, and general usefulness of the body.
@micki48 wishing you well! I love that you are logging and back to losing, but hope that you will get through this bout of covid soon. What a drag!
I'm off to help a friend tomorrow morning with bleaching and scraping a pile of boards that were covered too thoroughly to keep them from drying out - they got moldy instead! She is building a practice studio that I know I will enjoy using as well, so a bit of pre-payment is due
Weigh-in nagging coming later!5 -

Ohhhh that stinks about the pink eye cases!!
So happy to hear your son is doing better and that you have a good eye doctor team! I'm an optometrist so as you can imagine, I'm pretty passionate about all things eyeballs lol so many people neglect eyecare so I never miss a moment lol!3 -
Hockey tonight was great, burned lots of calories to go with my happy dance! I may have snacked a bit after and didn't drink enough water, but I'm hopeful for tomorrow's weigh in. I got to use the hot tub after my game for the first time and it was fantastic. Finally reaping the reward of all the hard work to install it.
Good night team! Sweet dreams of mobility, strength, and the 'perfect day'.5 -

Need to re-focus on consistent tracking and water consumption. Also finding it really challenging to find time for exercise. I've spent the last 10 days attending a piano contest competition that brought together 10 of the world's best pianists under the age of 30. It has meant a lot of eating out and social drinking. It wraps up tomorrow with the final 3 vying for a prize package worth $600K.
Jugar: I know you're a professional musician. Have you heard of the Honens Competition? In my opinion, it's the crown jewel of Calgary (Canada's?) performing arts scene. Have thoroughly enjoyed these concerts. Have fallen in love with Franz Liszt's Piano Sonata in B Minor s.178. Have heard it played several times this past week and it might be my favourite piece of all time.5 -

Seeing water mentioned a few times and it's odd how quickly I've fallen out of habit with that! I am finding it hard to maintain all my habits with how busy things are. Needless to say, getting my water bottle back in hand more regularly feels like something simple I just need to get back to.
I find with the way my brain likes to go in all or nothing thinking that I feel very catastrophic about things... there is nothing particularly wrong, yes I'm about 5 pounds higher in weight than I'd like, but considering I'm still over 120 pounds down, I'm not sure the level of worry that goes with that is justified. I just feel a bit like work stress and other things are pushing some of my good habits to the back burner and it's more the fear of what happens when a little slide happens here and there over time and it adds up.
I will find something to worry about no matter what, this I know
What's everyone got for healthy activities on the agenda for this upcoming weekend? For me, getting a good night's sleep tonight is going to be key. Heading there now!
Oh, and welcome to the team @wishfuljune .. hope you'll love it here as much as I do!5
