Don't worry about small changes in weight. Just keep at it!

@buniphuphu I could have written this myself! After last week's 8lb loss I went up 0.5 then 0.5 then down 1lb so 5 days later I am still at 8lbs loss. It's infuriating and I feel bad about it. I'm on liraglutide and struggle to eat my calorie goal. The max I've managed is 850 /1200 this week so psychologically I feel I should have lost. Its a mind game, that's for sure!2

I used to but after awhile they stopped bothering me since they happened so often over the course of the past year. With rare exceptions I weigh myself only once per week.4 -

I agree with you and I only weigh myself on weigh in day.2 -
I am starting from scratch as December was a rough month for me from a stress and weight gain standpoint. I also learned the that the older scale that I was using up until a couple weeks ago was weighing me about 5 lbs lighter than I really was. The true story came out when I got on a balance beam scale at the gym and saw that I was heavier than I thought. I confirmed it by getting on another scale. So, I bought a new scale, which seems to be accurate. Regardless, I weighed myself on Jan 1, which I am going to use as my starting weight. I also have been tracking my food, calories and excercise in myfitnesspal. Here is to a healthy 2023!

January Week One - Friday Weigh In
Previous Weight: 176 lbs
Current Weight: 171.6lbs
Loss to Date: 62.4 lbs
This is a very welcome, expected loss. And while I have still gained weight since before the holidays, I am back in a range that will not send me into a downward spiral, which is what I was aiming for this week. Here's hoping I can keep up a healthy momentum and get back into th 160s this month.6 -

Ugh. First weigh in is a gain. I'm trying to remind myself it's a very small gain, and I've overall had a very successful first week of the year, and last weigh in I lost more than I probably should have so this is probably just things evening out. But it's still disheartening to start "trying" again and right away have my body tell me, "Oh nonono! Remember? You're 40 now. I'm not going to make this easy for you."
Things that went well this week:- I stuck with measuring and logging my food, and was under my calorie limit almost every day.
- I resumed training for my 5k. I had 3 long walks with my dog and started incorporating a stretching program.
- I drank 3 cups of water every day.
- I avoided my time-wasters and got SO MUCH DONE!

@____Becks____ I hear you with not being able to meet a calories goal with not enough calories. I used to think that the lower I went, the better. Honestly, it just stalled all my progress. Now I have more energy, sleep better, and have less stress, and I expect that is a big part of why I am continuing to lose weight. I am 100% not saying that what you are doing is "bad" or "wrong" because it's your body, and it can be a challenge to deal with meds. *hugs* I hope you find a routine that supports you.4

@sandielewis2001 That sounds like a sustainable plan. I'm working on trying to do that myself, but I have to change my relationship with food, slowly but surely.
@Stimpy56 I will, don't worry. I just have to work on getting my head in the right space. It's just going to take some time to overcome all the negative self-talk.
@____Becks____ I can have trouble getting enough calories in on Ozempic, too. I find that small meals throughout the day works better than trying to eat a large meal, plus peanut butter has become my best friend. It helps with my stomach upset and GI issues.
@GinLee61 It's good to hear that these thoughts can be overcome! Congrats on your healthier self-image! And great loss this week!
@abp1025 I got a new scale a couple of years ago, and it made a big difference in being able to have accurate results! Nice loss to start the year!
@minstrelofsarcasm Great loss! A goal of 160s for the month is very doable.
@shnkrnrynn I love your graph! It's a great way for you to follow your losses.
@trebled_egg That small gain is nothing more than a fluctuation, not a true gain. Your positive changes are going to see good results soon!
@cedarfoxy Nice loss! Keep up the good work!
@Zumba_Luvah You have a great loss, too! It seems like this has been a good start for the new year for many of us!
@rachelrjh Great work! Nice loss for the new year!
I think I'm going to have to start having more calories in the morning for breakfast. Up until the last couple of days, a tablespoon of peanut butter has been enough to carry me through, but over the last few days, I've been getting really hungry early in the day. I'm thinking of adding a smoothie or a protein drink to up my calories and nutrition in the morning without adding a lot of effort.

Absolutely. I'm working on finding ways of eating more - it's bizarre because I'd usually be ravenous the whole time, but currently I can't even face food! Managing a bit better the past day or two, getting 1000. It's a work in progress!5 -
@buniphuphu I'm thinking of adding a protein shake so ensure I get the calories in.3

I saw someone ask in the December chat about who has a Fitbit, but I switched over to Garmin.
Any Garmin users out there who want a buddy?
Also mods - is it appropriate to start a F2F group on Garmin for exercise / step challenges? Or should I not?
I'm a garmin user! I'll be a buddy!1 -

Happy New Year, everyone! Glad to be back after a couple weeks away. I had a wonderful time visiting my parents in the Philippines. I didn't have access to a scale and I was expecting some weight gain, but I think a 1-lb gain is not bad.
Here's to a healthy and productive January!

Good morning! WNM! Welcome to all the new ladies & gents!
I'm Melanie and I'm from Kansas. I’m the other team Co-captain. Truly, Ashley does most of the heavy lifting.
My (short version) story
When I was young, I was always was skinny. I got away from my nutty family, met my husband, learned to be happy. Then I got fat. I found myself weighing in about 230 and my six sixteens were too small. I bought a couple pairs of 18 pants from the thrift store and joined MFP.
I lost ~70 pounds in about a year and was pretty pleased. But I wanted another 20 off...and it didn't move. And things got a bit crazy with my husband's family...so I decided to maintain for a bit. Instead of maintaining, I gained the weight. So...now I'm working on the weight all over.
My special snowflake challenges
I'm fairly significantly asthmatic (on meds all the time), have terrible allergies and connective tissue issues (not enough collagen, too stretchy, lots of joint slippage).
August 2020, I acquired some vertigo problems (or, maybe they just got worse). After adding some meds, adjusting my diet a bit, and stopping coffee (so sad), I’ve got it mostly under control, with only one significant issue in the past 8 months. Needless to say, if I'm dizzy, I'm not walking or doing anything else. Positive: since my neurologist recommended I take 500 mg of ginger every day, it has helped a lot and now I have no excuses for not doing exercise, except for being lazy.
The point behind saying this is not woe-is-me, it is that a lot of exercise people promote is bad (anything high impact), and sometimes dangerous, for me. Sometimes people get down on themselves because they don't do the stuff everyone talks about HIIT, Insanity, stair steppers, etc. I not only don't do those things, I shouldn't. But I should exercise.
My daily goal to get about 30 minutes of walking a day at least during the week. I try to get a walk in otherwise but frequently fail. Weekends are a mixed bag.
I want to congratulate all our losers for December! I am super proud of all of you! 😊 Welcome to the team newbies! I’ve sent friend requests to all of you (many have already added). Looking forward to getting to know you all and excited about all the interaction so far this week!

Saturday weighin (late)
PW: 233
CW: 233
Sorry for the late weigh--I weighed yesterday but didn't have time to post. First, cuz we had a lazy morning. Then, we realized we had a short amount of time to leave because we were having lunch with friends we haven't seen in years (because they live in Japan, no the usual Covid reason). Lunch ended up being almost 4 hours long. Lots of fun. (how many calories does wrangling a hyperactive 11 yr old burn?) Then we visited my uncle for a while, who I haven't seen in probably a year. All these events were an hour away from home, so lots of driving.
Not making any progress. I am working on not snacking after dinner (or supper for those of you who believe lunch is dinner, etc, or, for Brits tea, I think). I think I'm doing meh.
