@minstrelofsarcasm Good luck with the new job. You'll get the rest figured out in no time. Try to make it fun and you'll do better. Let us know how you do with the meal plans, I have thought about trying that but hubby doesn't like new things, has favorite foods he wants to stick with.2

Please fix @ljdanny and my step count on the spreadsheet, it is only reporting Fri and Sat step count. We worked hard for those steps, LOL. Thanks.

It is so hard to get my steps in when I have a sitting job. I wish I had more time but when I did have more time, I wished I was busy. LOL. I am on plan. Feeling Strong. I have built some momentum and I have taken some time to give myself some positive feedback. Hope you all are doing well. Take care2

The best thing I ever did for my step count was start drinking more water. You end up taking more trips to get more, and more trips to the bathroom, and the steps add up over time. Dehydration is also one of those things that takes the energy right out of us, so you may feel motivated to get up more often.4 -

I know how you feel as I sit at my desk most of the day. I do get to the gym 4 days a week and do treadmill and elliptical but the other days I don't get a chance to move around. I try to drink 10 glasses of water a day and that at least make me walk to the bathroom, lol.

Wow I did not expect another 5 pound loss this week, but I will take it. Next week I am not expecting much loss. My goal is 1 pound a week loss.5 -

I've missed a lot this week! I just caught up on reading, and we have some very busy steppers. I went up in dosage with my Ozempic on Saturday, which made me really sick. Thankfully, I am feeling better. I am going to join a gym this weekend to start incorporating water exercise into my routine since it is the gentlest on my joints. Once summer rolls around, I can get back to swimming laps in my backyard.
Congrats to all the losers this week!7 -
Wooo Hoo... Today is 10 days on plan with my calorie goal. Tomorrow is my weigh in day. I am assuming there will be a loss. But I do know that my body sometime is obstinate! I have been practicing not letting myself ruminate when I start having urges. If I catch the automatic thoughts early enough, I can close the thought loop by using positive self talk that supports my healthy, loving goals. Sometimes my inner voice just needs to be told to stop. It seems to help. I have also been drinking 16 oz of water on my way home from work so i am sure i am not confusing hunger with thirst. I have completed my food log. Eating is now done for the day!!7

Weigh in day: Thursday
Current weight: 146.2
Previous weight: 148.6 (weight last week)
Starting weight (as of Jan 1, 2023): 151.6
Down 5 lbs in 12 days , which is a lot for me! Hope to continue this trend.
Question- does “previous weight” refer to the weight we were when we started the challenge, or the weight at our weigh in the previous week?4 -

I remember people talking about water retention, especially after holidays and flying.
I got home about 9pm yesterday after our flight and weighed myself at 9am this morning. I am heavier than before I went away, even though I was walking a lot and didn't overindulge in treats.
I've never really paid attention to weight fluctuations at holiday times. I read that the air on planes can dehydrate you and cause water retention but that it goes away in a couple of days.
What are your experiences with your weight after flying?
Tomorrow's my allotted weigh-in day, so I'll see if there's any difference. Before my hols, I was 79.9kg, today I'm 81.3kg.2 -

Thankful for any loss at all after binging on so much chocolate last Sunday. I haven't done that in almost a year. Good news is, made myself sick to my stomach so I won't be doing that again for awhile. At least not for another year, I hope.
Have a great week!4 -

SW= starting weight, which could be team start or overall start, your choice.
PW=last weigh in, typically last week, but if you miss a week, it could be two weeks previous.
CW=your weighin this week.BodyTalking wrote: »I remember people talking about water retention, especially after holidays and flying.

I've seen a lot of losses this week. Yay!
NSV: I hosted a webinar yesterday but was not the presenter. I've heard the presentation in one way or another about two dozen times and it was a bit mind numbing the first time. Instead of staying in my chair, I walked around my cube. Probably not a lot of steps but more than if I'd stayed in the chair.
Hubs and I have decided to drive to the city tonight for Ethiopian food when I get back from work (he has the day off). Yay! Yum!5 -

Oh boy, I'm always SO bloated after flying. The dry air dehydrates, the salty snacks require more water to be processed, poor sleep quality puts additional stress on your body (which also retains water!), if all the walking and activity created microtears in your muscles, that's also water retention... there's so many factors.
For me personally, Multiple Sclerosis makes my body extremely sensitive to changes in routine, pressure, temperature, etc. Water retention comes easy, especially if I am not doing anything to keep my environment in check.3 -
I was feeling guilty this morning for not going to my aquafit class (snowy roads) but I think I probably got a better workout shoveling my driveway. Uhgg … winter!6

January Week Two - Friday Weigh Day
Previous Weight: 171.6 lbs
Current Weight: 171 lbs
Loss to Date: 63 lbs
Given the stress and craziness of this past week, I am more than happy with this little loss. My eating has been all over the place, ranging from a dairy-filled Mexican restaurant lunch on Monday for my first day of the new job, to a spinach and mushroom egg scramble last night because I haven't been grocery shopping recently, and that was something I could throw together easily.
Despite saying I was going to do it, I did not go to the gym on Tuesday night. Instead, I woke up ridiculously early on Wednesday and got my workout in. And then did the same thing on Thursday. Given the long commute and the time I'd be getting to my gym if I were to commit to an after-work workout, the likelihood of me just skipping it due to hunger or tiredness is way too high.
Here's my tentative workout schedule:
M - High Intensity Strength Class at the gym after working from home OR Rest Day
Tu - Gym workout before work (Lower Body)
W - Gym workout before work (Upper Body)
Th - Gym workout before work (Cardio/Core)
F - Resistance training with personal trainer friend during lunch break while working from home
Sa - Rest Day
Su - Full Body/Whatever Isn't Sore
Tuesday through Friday is essentially set in stone. The rest of the week can vary depending on how I am feeling, or make up for deficiencies through the week due to illness/travel/holidays/etc. Being able to work from home on Mondays and Fridays is going to help me a lot with staying on track, and provide a bit of flexibility when I need it.8 -
@minstrelofsarcasm & @melaniedscott thank you for your replies about water retention after travelling.
I get the bloated tummy feeling and just want to get off the plant and to the nearest loo to burst that bubble 💩💨 but, yip, it takes time to budge. There, I said it! 😄 (sorry to all the others).
It's true, I probably didn't drink enough water but had beer, which was, no doubt, the worst thing I should have done while being so thirsty.
Micro-tears! Didn't think about that, thanks, and I didn't sleep well the previous couple of nights. You're both very knowledgeable and I appreciate your insights.
My one-day-work-week is over! I've been teaching online, therefore sitting all day, and have only done 4½k steps so far - went for a 30+ minute walk. I'm tired and need to rest before finding the oomph to get another 4k recorded.
I'll check in tomorrow ⚖️🤞

Minstrelofsarcasm, Well done on doing all those exercises before work 👏
Melaniedscott, Well done on hosting the webinar and for keeping moving 👏 I'd love to hear what you ate at the Ethiopian restaurant.
@lamafrespirit I'm glad I don't have to shovel snow but, yes, it's a great workout 👍
@GinLee61 That's great to have kept the chocolate binge weight off 👍
