It's still Sunday. The last couple weeks have been full of grandbaby festivities. Almost missed this weigh in. I'm pretty sure I missed last week.
ANYWAY
I'll do a more formal post later....

Weigh in Day: MONDAY
PW: 186.3
CW: 191.6
Typical for post surgery - still some swelling around incision, water retention. But today is the day I start over and exercise is getting put back in to the equation.9 -

PW isn't a must, but it helps us to know if we should offer a thumbs up or a hug, depending on the way the numbers went!
Congrats on the loss! Keep up what you're doing that's working for you3 -

And for everyone - when you weigh in, you do not need to @ me. Just be sure the weigh-in is at the top of your post so that I catch it easily. I always click the "Insightful" reaction once I have posted it onto the spreadsheet, so I kindly request that no one uses that reaction on any weigh-in or step reporting message! That way @ashleycarole86 and I know that the stats are duly reported. Thanks!
Everyone is welcome to peruse the spreadsheet anytime. It is fun to see the whole team. Scroll right to see where everyone is from (if they have shared the info - and I have remembered to put it in there!). Scroll down for the steps/exercise. You can see who might live in your area, who weighs around the same as you, the total people have lost since their highest weight (column X labelled LTD - loss to date), and all kinds of goodies. Of course, if you notice any mistakes please let me know!

Happy Monday!
Numbers were a bit disappointing this morning, but I'm not too distressed:
CW: 148.2
My little 30F/V Challenge for the week proved a success. I didn't actually change any of my eating habits, I was just curious to know how close I come to meeting that recommendation. Turns out, I'm more diverse than I thought. Granted - being vegetarian probably helps and, in the words of my son "most people probably have a bunch of meat in their freezer...all we have is frozen fruit" Here's a breakdown for those who are curious for a grand total of 47.35. It definitely got less diverse as the week went on since I only noted F/V the first time I ate them.
As for my activity:
Mon: 6112 steps
Tues: 10768 steps (incl. 2.67mi recovery run)
Weds: 4412 steps
Thurs: 3767 steps
Fri: 3902 steps + 1.5hrs yoga
Sat: 5804 steps
Sun: 18117 steps (inc. 6.66 mi run + .5mi walk)6 -
So as soon as I sign up for the step challenge, my Fitbit bites the dust. UGH.... Anyway, I don't think I will be replacing it either, it didn't encourage me, just made me feel bad when I didn't meet my goal. So I am going to give it a while before I decide if I want a new one or not.
This weekend wasn't bad... wasn't great either....6 -
Hey all! Just a quick check in before we board our flight home.
There was lots of over-indulgence this weekend... mind you for the most part we only ate two meals (brunch and then supper), but then there was some snacking and some alcohol. As mentioned before, I forgot my travel scale so I've been operating without my usual data.
I am ready to get back on track and would prefer to implement a strategy where I don't go so off track when I'm out of my normal routine. I was doing this well when I was first in weight-loss mode but I'm not as conscientious now and it ends up putting on weight that I then struggle to get off.
I was also very sedentary compared to my usual activity levels, so I'll be looking forward to upping my movement again when I get home.
On the plus side, Brad and his siblings had a lot of hard (but necessary) conversations, we enjoyed some great quality time with his mom, and we are heading home with relatively clear heads and hearts despite some of the challenging situations we've been discussing.4 -
@MoonlitMuse That is a great list! I am working on mine to see if I get 30 for the week from 5-12 April. I wasn't counting herbs, so that is going to help a lot I'm around 25 right now and have a couple of days left.
@Gidgitgoescrzy I am with you on the Fitbit effect - for a long time it helped me a lot, but then it just got to be kind of negative. I found taking a break for a bit and then going back worked OK, but now I'm thinking of not going back. I want quality walks, nice exercise sessions, and some sweat sessions. I don't really need a number to make those things work. Well, maybe reps and minutes...
@ashleycarole86 Your talk about a "a strategy where I don't go so off track when I'm out of my normal routine" is so much what I need too. All my visits to my dad's place, stuff happening that is different, now going out to visit my daughter - all of this is taking its toll on my usual habits. And this is after 10 years maintaining, so get used to it! We constantly have to re-invent ways to make things work. We'll talk soon!
I did manage a big long walk and a Pilates session today. Hopefully I'll also do a bit on the exercise bike tonight. There has been way, way too much sitting lately. When I get back from Alberta, I might start going to group exercise classes at the gym for the summer. I am tired of working out alone. I think it would be good to grow some new connections for exercise.
We've got this, right? Yes!5 -
Great catching up with all the news. I'm not packing nearly fast enough. Wish I could have you all over to help and we'd burn some calories and have some laughs, I'm sure. I'm just holding on trying to get through the next few weeks, then hopefully soon after, things will get back to my new normal settled world. Yay!
Still trying to get my sleep back in the "good" mode, but it has been consistently "fair" for the last several days. I am not logging. Will I ever get back to that? My steps have been pretty good, but I just realized I did not hit my target today (darn Teacher Inservice) and have likely broken my streak of 15 days. Speaking of which, here are my steps.

I will do my best tomorrow to get those fruits and veggies in my meals. (I always add fruit to breakfast). I will have a salad with egg for lunch. Not sure about dinner yet. Water, yes, water will be consumed for sure. It's so important as we all know.
Thanks for sharing the photos @YinxFed
@PlaneMonkey That was quite a weather/lack of power ordeal. Glad you have it back now.
@CarolAnnM2 So glad to hear your surgery went well and you are ready for exercise. Listen to your body and good luck with recovery.
@ashleycarole86 and @jugar I hope you can all get together during your visit. Let us in on all the fun.
I must pack boxes. I must pack boxes. ugh!!5 -
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to stop in and say hello since it has been awhile. For new members, I have moved to support team recently. I will definitely be staying on support for awhile longer. I followed up with my naturopath for my hormone test. He said everything looks good except the stress hormones. He said weight loss really isn't possible until I get this under control. His recommendation was to finish my masters program and take a few months this summer to let my body return to normal. I am looking at fall to restart my weight loss. That was disappointing news but makes sense. I'm 7 assignments away from completing my masters. The end is definitely insight! My new supplements are definitely the ones I need and I feel so much better. My goals for right now:
Keep managing stress and being aware of my stress levels. Lots of deep breathing, walking and mindfulness
Focus on intuitive eating and no logging or counting macros. Eat what my body needs, stop when I'm full.
Continue with no snacks because I definitely sleep best when I don't eat evening snacks.
I was able to skim through the chat and see what everyone is up to. I'm hoping to get in here more often and stay caught up on everyone's stuff.8 -
@micki48 you've got this!
@conleywoods I would be disappointed too, but agree it does make sense to hold off; weight loss is hard work even on it's own, never mind when doing a masters too.
Happy Tuesday all. It is Tuesday, right? 4 day weekend has thrown me off a bit, and I didn't have training this morning as my PT is ill.
It's day 1 of my 4 'healthy focus' days, where I'm giving my dietician protocol 100%:
- alarm is set for 6am, work out before work
- track every bit of food intake (ideally at the time)
- limit treat foods to 1x medium sugar, 1x high sugar per day
- Increase fibre intake by adding more fruit/veg
- 3-3.5L water a day and no fizzy/energy drink
I'm trying to do a bit of a reset and I was honest that I wanted to go nuclear and be super strict, but we agreed this (the above) was the best approach. I still need to plan my food for today; I know the meals, but I want to plan the snacks too. Got distracted yesterday!7 -
Happy Tuesday!
I am so sick of how sluggish and stupid the MFP community site is lately! Trying to edit or delete a post is a nightmare, everything loads like a snail - I sure hope they get it together soon.
OK, mini-rant over. I have a lot of packing and organising to do! Leaving tomorrow for Montreal, and then flying out to Edmonton on Thursday. I can't wait to hang out with my daughter7 -
Good afternoon everyone!
Today is my Day off and I've had soooo many plans for today 😁 none of them materialised lol 🤦
But one thing I want to do is to find my dumbells and barbel. Find the place for it and start Caroline Girvan Epic program.
I am so much better motivated when I exercise, do here's hoping 🤭
I'll post photos later if I succeed 🎉
Have a lovely day everyone 🥰

Happy Tuesday!
Welp, Sunday was a bust workout wise. I had some of the worst cramps where I didn’t want to move and just lay on the couch with a hot water bottle. I told myself it was okay because I was listening to my body and it clearly needed the rest.
Monday I followed my pre-logged meals perfectly so yay for 1 day of consistency! There is someone I follow on Instagram who is doing 90 days of consistency, and I like that approach because it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being consistent.
I had some changes this week with my work schedule and when I need to go into the office, so I have adjusted my workout schedule to be:
Monday: Fully Body HIIT ✅
Tuesday: Arms & Abs
Wednesday: Strength Class @ Gym
Thursday: Active Rest Day (Yoga/Walking)
Friday: AM Spin Class @ Gym
Saturday: Legs & Cardio
Sunday: Rest6 -
@jugar yep! Herbs and plant-based spices count as 1/4 of a 'point', but they do count! I think it's a great way to move the focus from strictly scale-based wins to an overall more diverse and balanced diet6
-
I almost wrote Happy Thursday! But it's actually Tuesday. LOL @jugar Safe travels and have a great visit. Boo to sluggish MFP. Occasionally, I have the panicked thought of what would happen to all of us if MFP were to change drastically or shut down. I need my village! You all are such wonderful support. We need a plan B. Anyway, I doubt they will go anywhere, but sometimes I worry.
After school today, I have a "must do" that I hate and have been putting off, but I am quickly approaching the deadline and must face it. Also need to pack up our 4th bedroom. (only 2 are mine-2 are my daughter's family). My son gets keys to his apt today and moves on Thursday.
Beautiful weather here today in Pennsylvania USA. At least I get outside for an hour a day with the littles.
Good to hear from you Kristi @conleywoods . Stress really stinks. The pressure of work and school and family is a lot. Take care of yourself and treat yourself well. I am happy to hear from you, Check in when you can and pet those piggies for me (and YOu),

I had 2 perfect days, yesterday and today! I had a rough start to April, so time to get back to it! I have also been enjoying the beautiful spring weather! 🌞6

Hello everyone! Good news is I got a perfect score on my CT heart scan. The day went downhill from there. I volunteer at mobile food pantries. Today was the one at the library behind the Senior Center. I akways pick up for my neighbors and bring stuff to the seniors. These folks are all so precious to me and we help each other when we can. Age, skin color, disabilities just don't matter. We're all family. Well there were new people at the pantry and I was the only seasoned volunteer. Nobody listened to me. Just barked orders and screwed things up big time. I also kept getting yelled at by the pantry boss. Anyone who stopped to say hello to me meant another loud reprimand. So much more to the story but bottom line is that I ended up going to the Senior Center and had a good cry. I told them that I wasn't allowed to get them anything so if anyone could go that was the only way they could get something. It was so nice because those who could went and even picked up for some who couldn't go. Sadly they only got barrel scrapings. Oh, the boxes were so much heavier than they should have been. I was one of those loading cars. Needless to say my back is screaming. Si, with that said, good night everyone.6
-
@Natroushka that sounds like such a difficult time. You have such a beautiful approach to this volunteer work, and it got turned into something so difficult. I am sure that the people who know you there, and who count on your help were certainly as sorry at your treatment by the new people as they were for themselves. That is so unfortunate. But still - bravo to you for volunteering and making people's lives better with such a big heart. Take care of your back! Gentle rotations and hip bridges, "figure 4" stretches - find a few moves that feel good, but rest it too. Take care of you so that you can take care of them. You are an inspiration.
@lauren_989 well done! 2 perfect days. That feels so wonderful. Add in some spring weather, and you're off and running!
@micki48 Yes - it is a bit of a worry sometimes about what would happen to our community here if MFP flops. I hope that won't happen, but we'll find a way. Happy packing - just remember how much easier unpacking is!
Who's on for Wednesday? I'll be a bit slow to catch up on things tomorrow and Thursday, probably, but here we go!
@AshenMoon
@lauren_989
@alydanbeads
@Gidgitgoescrzy
+ @cleaneater80 from Monday. Hope you're ok or that I did not miss your post!
thanks5 -
@conleywoods
You've been on my mind.. glad to hear from you. Your goals sound perfect for where you're at right now.
@micki48
So much transition in your life. You must be looking forward to some calm in your future.
@wishfuljune
Consistency over perfection for sure. I am a perfectionist and if I get buried in the wrong mindset it drives me right into the ground.
Today was tough because I feel like I'm getting sick. There is never a good time for that. I did get my 10K steps but my bike ride fell to the wayside.
I stayed under my calories, and I didn't drink. So there's that!
Safe travels @jugar.. your daughter will be so happy to have you. You always have such interesting times together6 -
@wishfuljune I've learnt that adjusting our plans - rather than just sacking them off - is key to sticking with it. Easier said than done sometimes, of course!
@micki48 I wish it were Thursday! Somehow the short work weeks (Monday was a UK bank holiday) always drag the most. Good luck with your "must do" and packing.
@ashleycarole86 I hope your maybe-ill doesn't turn into definitely-ill.
Yesterday was a good 'healthy focus' day, although I drank more like 2L water, I didn't drink anything else so taking that as a win. It can take me a few days to get into drinking lots of water, and my fruity water (orange and blueberry right now) doesn't go down quite as easily as cordial. Today has started on the right track with a walk down to check the allotment after yesterday's storm, and I made the walking time up to 30 minutes on the treadmill when I got back. Once I'm in the swing of getting up early, and the weather has improved, I like the idea of long walks outside before work.

Happy Wednesday!
I'm off and running shortly - hopefully will have time for at least a few sun salutations or something nice before leaving. Even though it is cloudy.
Focusing on non-zero days while travelling and visiting people. Kind of like placating the tomorrow self gods I hope you all have a fabulous day! Or have already had most of it for you lovelies across the pond.7 -

It's Wednesday, not Thursday. Almost did it again.
Unpacking is easier for sure. I am SOOOO looking forward to calm nothings. Wiggly kiddos here today. Not much to report. Hanging in there. The one good thing is my step count with all this stuff going on. That's about all I've got right now and checking in here.
Hope you lovelies have a great day.6 -

I guess 2 perfect days don't make up for 5 bad ones. I think I've said this before too. Anyway, about to go for a walk in the neighborhood to get some steps in and enjoy the 75F weather with sunshine and blue skies!6
