Hey JNettie, nice to see you again!

Sorry you are anxious about going out with the family, Nanc. It seems so silly you would even get comments, especially at a restaurant where it's not even affecting her preparations.

OMG ya'll... went to the PO on the way home to send out all the taxes priority mail. I got out of the office later than I hoped and dreaded the anticipated line. Guess what? Got there and only 5 people ahead of me. When I left there were at least a dozen behind me. Lucky timing!

But I think I'm done with taxes. Yay!

Have some work to do tonight so I am off. I got some broccoli on the way home and will roast that tomorrow should last me several days. Too much work to do tonight to cook. I love roasted broccoli for breakfast. I'm weird, I know. LOL

    Today's Plan...

    coffee with nutpod creamer
raw oats with cinnamon, frozen organic berries and homemade almond milk. It's warm here now, and the cold cereal is a nice breakfast
prepped sandwich (made up three days of the add-ins in containers...just have to toast the bread : lettuce, tomato, onion, vegan cheese, spicy mustard (avocados not ripe yet)
    raw veggies
air fried tofu with potato and green beans
    tea and muffin

Watermelon was HORRIBLE. Had to toss it. Mushy...totally mushy. so sad.

I am making it deeeeeee liciious, today.

    PT in a few minutes.

Happy TAX DAY...does that even make sense? LOL

    congratulationss.gif
to @Mihani for surviving another year!

Nice to see you, @JNettie73 ! I am not sure what I'll be doing with the fabric. I'm going through a cellulose dyeing phase right now, so I'm just trying out a lot of things and then I will have the fabrics available for whatever. One of the fabrics I thought would be good as a table runner. Another I am thinking of for a wall hanging as the background fabric. I've been painting on silk the last few days and enjoying that. I straddle that arts / crafts line as a maker of all sorts of things. What creative projects have you been up to lately?

Nanc, I'm glad that your knee friend was able to make you feel better about the procedure. It sounds like it could give you a leg up so to speak ;) It is so disappointing when a watermelon is mushy. That is a deal breaker.

Mihani, congrats on being done with taxes! Glad the line at the post office was nice and short for you.

I've switched up my morning smoothie a bit, turning it into a bowl instead. Reminds me of the acai bowls Joe and I had in Maui years ago when we vacationed there. Not as deluxe here though, I'm going primarily for health over flavor though I do add a measured amount of homemade granola to the top. In the summer I might wait until later in the afternoon to have it to cool down.

Walked with the doggos 3 times yesterday. Ended up around 7500 steps for the day which isn't great but still better than some days. I walked as briskly as I could which is a little limited due to a sore knee, and just start getting 'zone minutes' near the end.

tonight's meal: garbanzo bean curry with baked tofu

You are all so kind...thank you! I am doing better in PT but if my surgeon does decide I need to go through Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA)...I guess I am ok with it. Just scary sounding.

Great walking @Carla_wfpb ... they must have loved going out THREE times.

Lulu got one walk yesterday...early morning, before PT. We were able to go our usual 20-25 route...I felt great and normal...zero pain nor discomfort. So that is very exciting. LULU pooped out on the way back...plopped her little ol self on the damp grass, in the shade one or two times. Pretty darn cute.

    Today

breakfast: oats and frozen berries and almond milk
lunch: sandwich...LTA (lettuce tomato avocado oh, and red onion) on toasted rye with mustard...no cheese since I am using avocado (prepping the add-ins was a prepping tip from LET'S EAT PLANTS. I was able to put them in little containers and use a bit of paper towel to keep the lettuce fresh and crisp. Worked out great.
Dinner: veggies, rice and probably some kind of mock meat

    Dessert: tea and muffin

I think PREPPING might be something for me...I could prep three days in a row and be perfectly fine with eating the same thing, as long as I liked it. My prepping could be Wednesdays for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays for Monday, Tuesday Wednesday...might just give it a try. Oh and Sunday could be my whatever day...out with friends or family or who knows.

Make it deeeeeeeee licious, won't you!

Nanc, your cute little GIFs have not been working lately. A pain free walk with Lulu sounds lovely. Here's to a future filled with pain-free walking! Would you prep the veggies etc and then cook fresh every day or embrace leftovers?

I played with silk painting yesterday in the morning and started learning InDesign software in the afternoon. I was getting by with just Adobe Illustrator for a while, but decided to pay more to have access to all of the Adobe software. As a bonus, InDesign could be very useful for work as well.

I'll have a smoothie for breakfast, might have some oatmeal for lunch and tonight we're having leftover garbanzo bean curry and baking up a fresh batch of baked Indian-style tofu to go with.

    happy hump day!

    Good Morning!

Carla - I think you should frame your fabric art! It is so beautiful.

Magic - Okay, look at it this way...manipulation under anesthesia or manipulation WITHOUT ANESTHESIA....yikes. So going under anesthesia again might sound scary...but the cocktail usually is a pain med, versed (so you won't remember) and propofol or something rather light....usually not a full general anesthesia requiring intubation. (Brooks is an anesthetist and he said it is usually a quick procedure, 15-30 min not requiring a lot of anesthesia). Adhesions form no matter how hard you work at physical therapy.

Mihani - You made it to the finish line! Yay....are you going to celebrate? What about a new exercise companion?

I am continuing with this crazy schedule of jumping on peloton bike first thing in the a.m. before I am really awake. Charlie Bear has been following me into the sun room while I ride. I put a little bed for him to lie down while I pedal. Yesterday a.m. I was greeted by this:der17kezpd7k.jpeg

He is officially my Peloton Pup!

Best smoothie ever: spinach, toasted coconut/almond milk, pineapple, mango, small apple, ginger and lemon plus Vega vanilla protein powder plus one cup of ice water and ice. The commissary had these little fuji apples for$1.00/bag on sale. Perfect for a smoothie.

Have a great day everyone! sorry about the size of my pics.

Awww... Charlie Bear is so cute!

Just caught up reading posts and this is a quick check-in. Had to juggle a bunch of stuff on the calendar because my boss had a death in the family and has to leave town tomorrow afternoon. So it's still crazy and my hoped for weekend off is out the window, but next weekend for sure.

    More tomorrow.

    Morning, Glories! pinksmileyf.gif

@Carla_wfpb ...both ways...prep all the vegs, greens, and starches separately...and then make different meals. OR, prep meals. OR, both. However, I do it, it is something that I do need to do, instead of flying by the seat of my pants...most of the time and not doing a very good job.

@bisky ...LOL...uh, yes indeed...under anesthesia during manipulation sounds a whole lot better. Thank Brooks for the positive feedback.

My cleaning crew (two gals) is coming today...every four weeks. They do the big jobs that I can't do or do not want to do. My house is all tile, which is a lot of steam or spin mopping. I do think they keep me more organized so that it is not a battle to get ready for them...just a tiny bit of tidying up. A whole lot better than before knee replacement.

    today

    coffee with NP
raw oats with frozen mixed berries and almond milk
pasta salad (penne with tri-colored bell peppers, celery, red onion, olives, cucumber, and the dressing is Trader Joe's corn chili salsa...no oil but it does have sugar.) I will be eating this for at least four-five days. Perfect for a pot luck.
dinner will be jasmine rice, mock meat, steamed mixed veg
muffin and tea for dessert (homemade vegan banana muffins)

    Make it deeeeeeeeeeeee licious, mates!

Oh goodness...having a bit of a lazy start...so came here to say...I'm getting in the shower, getting dressed, and then taking Lulu on her walk.

Meals...not sure about breakfast...need to make a batch of almond milk...sooooo it's either oats OR avocado toast

lunch, same as yesterday, pasta salad

dinner, same as yesterday, mock meat, rice, mixed veg

    dessert tea and muffin

Have one very deeeeeeee licious day, won't you!

    ****************************

8:30...back from our walk...icing knee then avocado toast for breakfast. Enjoy your day everyone!

Yay Magic. I know it is painful but you are doing it and I am sure Lulu appreciates the walk.

Mihani...sorry your down time went south. I admire how you keep on track with healthy eating.

JNette - How is the garden going? We planted a pollinator garden a year ago with native plants and they are about the only plants that not only survived the heat but thrived. Huge rain storm and everything is so green. It won't last long in San Antonio but for now I appreciate it.

Carla- Todays the silk scarf dying class. Will send pics. You could probably teach this class.

Peleton Pup (aka Charlie Bear, aka Mr. Grubby pants) and I did the 30 min ride. He and Cleo got green beans and 1/2 egg to their breakfast this a.m. as I ran out of the veggie protein mix I usually add.

    coffee with NP
    Cream of Wheat
    Pasta Salad
most likely the same dinner as yesterday...mock meat, rice, mixed veg or cole slaw
    tea and muffin

Good morning! Time to catch up here. Been a rough week and I was readng but not much time or energy to post.

Nanc, I got a watermelon last week and had to bin it also. So disappointing! I got another one on Thursday and will cut into it today. Fingers crossed but I usually find them best June through August.

Your prep plans sound excellent. Oh, and I thought it was just me but now Carla mentioned your cute emojis aren't working. We miss them.

Yay for the stationary bike! At first glance before reading the whole post, I thought the picture was a treadmill panel and I thought dang 10 mph? LOL

Carla, excellent walking going on. For your breakfast bowls are you just putting all the smoothie ingredients in a bowl with some plant milk or water? That's sort of what I do with my raw oat bowls.

Donna, Charlie has the new habit already! That's so sweet. I'm hoping to plant some flowers this year. I gave up on the back yard years ago because all the big dogs I had trampled everything. I do have some flowers out front but took out all the ugly, old and overgrown shrubs before the new windows went in a couple years ago. Getting rid of those also got rid of the spiders that were camping out in the front windows but it looks so bare out there now. Going to work with a guy I know to redesign this summer.

Brought some work home and going to hang out here today. Will go into the office tomorrow. My walking group starts Monday and I will be doing that, continue with Tues/Thurs strength classes, and 2 to 3 classes on the weekends.

The emojis midsumsmile.gifwell, she had canceled the site long ago...it was a paid membership...it was a lot of work and I think she got tired of it...but we were able to access them as long as we could log on. So I can see them...and they work at my end...but not yours...not sure why. I will keep using them...maybe it will resolve itself.

Donna, jealous of your Peleton...I don't think it is in my future anytime soon...maybe something I can work up to...maybe next year. In the meantime, I will continue to go to our little gym and use the Precor. Love your coach...Charlie seems to be pretty strict, so I wouldn't take any shortcuts on that bike. ;)

@Mihani sad day when our watermelons disappoint...I love them so much. Darn it anyway.

    Today's Plan

    coffee with NP
raw oats, frozen berries, HM almond milk
still working on my pasta salad
might be a sandwich...avocado, lettuce tomato on rye toast...not sure. or Daring Chik with rice and cole slaw
    popsicle for dessert.
Have a deeeeeeeeeee licious day everyone. nicetalkin.gif

Hi Nanc, that's too bad about your emojis. I wonder if it is just MFP. I always found them cheerful and fun and sorry I can't see them any longer.

The second watermelon was slightly better but still mushy and not very flavorful. Since tomorrow is garbage day I went ahead and tossed it. I'm not going to try again until late May.

I decided to work from home today. Yesterday turned into a bit of a wasted day. I was just so tired. Worked some but mostly read and napped. So I have plenty left to do that I brought home and nothing that I really need to be in the office to do. Have laundry going then I'll get busy.

My fitbit broke. I thought it was just the band but it was the actual clip that holds the band so I ordered a new one this morning and it should be here tomorrow. Kind of appropriate timing if it had to break since the walking group starts tomorrow. Supposed to be pretty chilly and even a chance of snow flurries tomorrow so I'll have to wear my thermal leggings for the first meetup.

Just got signed up for Tues/Thurs/Sat classes (strength and mobility). I'm going to commit to walking every day on my own as well. I ordered some wireless ear buds so I can listen to books, podcasts or music while I walk. Glad the weather is getting nice and I can get outside sometimes rather than always on the treadmill.

@Mihani can you let me know what you are doing in your walking program...I have four more weeks off so I am going to try and step it up a notch, activity-wise. I can now add the bike to my regime, along with walking LULU and the treadmill...also, time to get my lazy, procrastinating butt into the pool.

Yay, Nanc!!!! Congrats on riding the bike! happy for you!

Mihani my fitbit band has broken before but not the clip. I am still using it with one burgundy side and one side is a black spare from Joe's watch. I hope this week goes better for you!

Donna, your sun room looks like a nice spot for working out. Getting started before even properly awake is the best way!

We finally booked our flights to visit family in Ohio next month. Our dog sitting candidate fell through, so we will be boarding them at a place that we've used before. The dogs get 6 individual outdoor breaks a day and some personalized or group play time.

My SIL and her husband are vegan so eating there will be easy though there will be some vegan junk food around I'm sure.

I've been painting on silk lately. I'm doing simple small pieces just to get used to it. Mixed results, but enjoyable. I'm switching between that and learning new design software for my own projects and for work use.

Joe and I have our first pottery class this week, and on Wednesday Ruby has her vet appointment to see if she can be free to run and play with her newly minted knee.

I was making my breakfast bowl and realized you asked about it, Mihani. I add more yogurt and use less almond milk, use a frozen banana instead of fresh and sprinkle lightly with chopped walnuts instead of blending them in like I do with the smoothie. I sprinkled it with cinnamon today on a whim and I like it.

Magic - That is awesome you can ride a stationary bike. It does not matter if it is a peleton or not. The Peleton prerecorded classes include 5-10-15-20-30-45 and 60 minute length in classes. The classes you can choose from are beginner, warm up, low aerobic, hill climbs, cool downs. Plus if you don't want someone chatting at you...you can do scenic rides and set your own pace. This a.m. Charlie Bear and I did a beautiful fall ride in Vermont. I don't clip in anymore. Padded bike shorts are a bum saver.

Mihani - bummer about fitbit. Snow tomorrow??? Seriously? Enjoy your walk.

Carla - How is Ruby doing?

We went to Austin, Tx for a "walk" at a park with a springs and river....very pretty. Then to Austin Food trucks place....found Thai food and had sautéed vegetables and tofu in garlic sauce and a spring roll. Despite the exercise and healthiness of it all my weight was up the next day due to sodium ....dropped that today.

Sadly that was it for Charlie Bear and long walks. We walked 4 miles, the weather was beautiful in the mid 70's. Charlie Bear overheated and had to lie down several times. We had water and treats but he was tired. Brooks ended up carrying him for the last mile. So 3 miles or less is his max.

Have a surgery date to get my stomach out of my chest due to hiatal hernia, May 31. Goals: I want to lose 5 more lbs before surgery, walking 2-3 miles and Peleton ups to 45-60 minutes.

@bisky I had the hernia surgery...my tummy was popping out of my abdomen ... it was in and out the same day...best to sleep in a recliner or use a wedge to keep your head elevated...I ended up with acid reflux, just for one day. Not sure if it was called hiatal or what.

How do you keep Charlie Bear's eye so white...Lulu's always have to be washed and they are stained.

LOVE the scenery...so pretty...where do you live, again?

@Marilynsretired cutest little cartoon! Gave you a hug, there was no place to tell you I LOL'd. ;)

Yay for the trip to Ohio, Carla. Hope we can manage to meet up while you're here. Keeping my fingers crossed for Ruby to get the all clear. Looooove the silk painting. Your smoothie bowls sound yum.

Donna, poor Charlie Bear. Glad Brooks was able to carry him home and hope he's all rested up and feeling good now. Pretty picture of your walk... I've been thinking for many years I would like to get a kayak and paddle around at some of the places near here. Maybe by next summer. Good to hear surgery is scheduled.

Nanc, you wanted to know about the walking group. We walked a little over a mile our first time out this evening. It was fun! The time really flew by chatting with people and looking at the scenery. We did a few simple warmup exercises, walked, then did some stretching exercises. We're supposed to walk on our own half hour twice more this week. Starting next week the goals are weeks 2 and 3 walk 1 mile 3 days, week 4 walk 1.5 miles 3 days, weeks 5 and 6 walk 2 miles 3 days, weeks 7 and 8 walk 2.5 miles 3 days, weeks 9 and 10 walk 3 miles 3 days. The 3 days include the group walk evening.

B - cup of lentil veggie soup from the freezer
L - leafside broccoli alfredo (not a favorite but not bad)
S - apple and an orange
    D - salad

Trying to get more beans into my days so I'm going to start having lentil or bean soup in the morning and be sure to add beans to my salads in the evening.

Carla - the silk scarf is beautiful. Much nicer than the ones we did in class. Ohio should be beautiful and not too hot this time of the year.

Magic - How long was recovery? We planned a trip to Quebec in June for Brooks' triathlon thinking this surgery would be middle of May. Now the surgery is the end of the month. Can't wait to get this thing fixed as it bleeds and causes my anemia. The only part of CB that stays white is around his eyes...I do clean around his eyes with a 2x2 cotton pad and eye cleaner...if they are really bad I have a tearless dog shampoo. We live in San Antonio.

Mihani - your walking group sounds fun. I had the worst walk yesterday with CB...first he wanted to stop and mark everything and then decided he was going to lie down if I wouldn't let him mark. It was actually quite comical....but then a squirrel was ahead of us and he turned into a lunging husky. Cleo was perfect as usual. Today, CB is going for a very short walk and then I will take Cleo out for my longer walk. I think he is still tired from the weekend adventures.

Commissary had sale on little apples and tangerines. They are so easy to put in green smoothie. I wonder if using fresh versus frozen fruits is more beneficial. I like to use frozen pineapples and mangos but lately into an apple/citrus fruits. I bought shredded carrots and sprouts to make vegetable spring rolls! Going to cut up cucumbers right before I make them. Maybe red peppers too.
