Hi all....My mother has cancer. I am so heartbroken. I just lost my dad in January to cancer! Things are so rough right now and I want to quit trying with my weight loss. At the same time, I know it is important to my own health. I am going to continue to keep myself accountable here, if only to not let myself spiral. I ask for prayers for my family if you are one to pray.

Cherish whatever time you have, and take care of yourself. That's a lot to bear in one year. I lost my Mom in Nov - I let myself gain back in just over 3 mos, what it took me 18 mos to lose. Wish I hadn't done that.5 -
@mkksemail i don’t blame you for being concerned! I hope you head back from the ENT very quickly and they can get that taken care of.

With all these introductions and reintroductions I thought I would join in on it as well.

@Katmary71 suggested that I had been in the group before her. While I may have joined before her I did not stay in it as she did. I left then joined another group. I was really negative in that group. I left that group. Now I'm back in this group but I've only been back for just a little bit.

January I started carnivore. I've learned quite a bit about myself. Sugar causes severe pain so I no longer eat any desserts. Carbs, even from vegetables, cause inflammation and joint pain. I used to give into carbs during pot blessed meals but it takes two days to recover.

The uniqueness is I have a marathon in October and the proper training is to carb load the day before to secure enough energy for the run. I invited my church come carb load with me. Unfortunately I will probably only eat meat while they eat spaghetti.

I think the last thing I will share is that I drink coffee.

I think I've turned a corner now. I joined Water Aerobics and have begun to journal my food and exercise again in Myfitnesspal. I feel encouraged. I started this program through my insurance called Mindful Eating and it's good information and it is causing me to think about my relationship with food. One thing's for sure. I need to stop stuffing my food and begin to chew more. That's one simple revelation I am realizing. Small but powerful realization. Lord help me to continue to be encouraged. Longevity will be my friend. Lord help me!!
No Zero Day - I sliced half of a cucumber tonight and ate that as a snack. The norm would have been chips or ice cream. Small victory!!!!

Hey Dar-ren I enjoyed your intro post but it was a little triggering lol. Lifelong coffee addict here. Like a pot or two a day from 17-37. I gave myself an ulcer years ago and powered through. Then suddenly one day in May 2020 (I remember it well, as it was such a somber and momentous occasion) I made my pot like every morning. I took my first sip and became violently ill. Ever since that day I’ve tried countless times, and 🤮 every single time. It’s so cruel. Why? Why?
So now I switched to tea, about 75 flavours, but I dream about coffee every single day.
Anyway, there’s my not particularly interesting or amusing coffee story lol I’m short, I’m jealous of you and your coffee enjoyment.3 -
Well the smoke has arrived here in Connecticut. This will be day two of inside walking (and no walk for Monty). Something about walking outside that makes the time go by so quickly. Made this yummy meal last night and had to share; added grilled chicken for protein and used pasta I had in the cupboard instead of the whole wheat.

@mkksemail The July 4th challenge was posted in the last week of the May thread; page 21. Don't think it would be too late to make some kind of commitment. Good luck at the ENT, I would be concerned too.

@leonadixon So sorry to hear about your Mom. I understand fully; my sister (and best friend) was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer; such heart ache. You are definitely in my prayers. Cherish every minute.

Water aerobics today was fun. It is getting better and better for me. I had to get in the bed and take a nap the first two days. Today was the third day and I can truly say I feel so much better. I don't feel like I need that nap. Yay!!

I've been a bit anxious lately (which is a horrible feeling) but it does help me lose weight because when I'm anxious I don't feel like eating. I got on the scale today and the lower weight did make me feel good. I've been reading the posts and I see a lot of positive activity and wonderful energy from the members on this team. It's so refreshing to read such uplifting information!6

@mkksemail Thank you! Glad they were able to zap those spots and everything else looks good. I'm glad you're considered urgent with the polyp, I'm hoping it's benign and would be nervous too. The 4th challenge is choosing one thing to work on between now and the 4th, pick something and do it with us! I'm so sorry to hear about you losing your Mom not long ago.
@DrewsAnna Logging is a great idea, I think if you're able to see it you know something has to be done soon instead of keeping our heads in the clouds. Sounds like you're doing all the right stuff, keep it up!
@megnolia82 Funny what you said sounds like something that really resonated with me in the forums early on here for me, it was a meme along the lines of "the time is going to pass anyway whether you do something or not so why not make some effort to achieve something you'll be proud of?"
@trooworld Congratulations on your painting, that's wonderful! I'm very impressed you stopped at the grocery store instead of eating fair food, way to go! I'm glad the salads are going over well with your digestion, I know some people have the opposite issue so that's a relief!
@AmbersWay I didn't know that about many Americans moving to Turkey, that's fascinating! Being part Armenian I'm scared to go there but it looks incredible. Your poor pup, hope she's doing better fast! Crazy how bad that can hit with being dizzy and confused from it. Oh no, I hope your son's class is based on a curve if everyone was unhappy. Good luck getting the house situated!
@19shmoo69 Happy National Coffee to you too! I thought yesterday was chocolate ice cream day, perhaps it can be mocha ice cream day? I didn't know you were doing a marathon in a few months, that's wonderful! Let me guess, you'll be drinking lots of COFFEE that day too?
@Bemybestby60 Absolutely adore that meme! Please participate in the group how you feel comfortable, aside of the weigh ins there's really no rules, we want everyone with different personalities and ways of interacting to feel at home here. I have to think I'm only talking to one or two people or I wouldn't be so talkative, I'm more of a wallflower talking one-on-one and my personality loved hanging out with the smokers outside and having a break but no longer smoke.
@tfelts147 You're at that fun place where you're stepping it up with workouts and will probably start seeing improvement pretty fast, can't wait for that to happen for you! You're great with the fasts!
@leonadixon Prayers for your mom, that is a lot in one year, I'm so sorry. Prayers for your family, I hope you're able to stick around and work on your own health but try not to be too hard on yourself right now. Gentle hugs to you.

Hi everyone! Had a fun night with my two friends last night but had a tough time sleeping. I went and helped at the food bank farm greenhouse for a bit then came home and got stuff done and spent time in the yard here. I have a phone appointment early tomorrow I'm stressed about then a friend and I are going to do some shopping. She's making the list of places longer and longer so if it keeps up I may not go, I can't walk much and don't want to go to 10 places. Have a great Friday!

@Katmary71 Thank you! Well, the fair technically wasn't open yet lol, so we HAD to stop at the store! But even if I had the choice, I probably would have stopped at the store because I'm not all that enamored with fair food. Yeah if I don't eat salads for a while and then try to eat them, I have problems let's just say lol. I'm glad you had fun with your friends. Were you in pain? Was that why you couldn't sleep?

Speaking of the scale going in the right direction, it's not for me. I know where I went wrong this week because, thanks to the 4th of July challenge, I've tracked everything I have eaten. I'm very tired today and will try not to get into any trouble because I'm tired.

@trooworld Well you could’ve bought ice cream at the store as well, good decisions! I couldn’t sleep from pain and doing the “if I fall asleep now I’ll get three hours before my alarm goes off”. Glad to hear all your tracking is helping you see where the issue is, you got this! Hope you get some good sleep tonight.

Hi gang! I don’t feel good and have the option to go to a classic rock concert in a park-like place but my friend just let me know the disabled parking is taken so I’m going to stay here, I’ve been worse than normal and have the farm and a doctor’s appointment to fill my medications tomorrow before 11 so I should just rest. I’d only get through it with a drink or two and have done good the last couple days staying under. My phone appointment and workout went fine then I went to the store. My friend was just getting in the shower to go shopping at 1:45 so I told her I wasn’t going, it was just to keep her company going to a few places and I wasn’t up for it at that point which is why I go early. Have a great Saturday team!

My 4th of July challenge is to be mindful about eating. I'm not keeping a scorecard, I think I should start. I have been mindful most days. I ask myself if I am hungry before I snack. I try eating carrots for my snack and see if I can avoid more snack. I tell myself to wait 20 more min before eating.
