Good morning all. Yesterday was a nice day, took a walk with Hubby and Monty, then stopped at a local hamburger stand for lunch (nice that they allow dogs). Came back home, worked on the garden a little, then caught up on Blacklist and a cookout in the evening. It was super cool in Connecticut too; the same today.
Staking the tomatoes this morning, then out for a short boat ride this afternoon. Also cool today, will need to wear a sweatshirt!
Here's Monty, my love.

Well, here's a headline!
Maine Could See a Month’s Worth of Rain Over the Next Few Days
Joey
Published: June 2, 2023
(snip ... )
Shared on Twitter by Mike Haggett, a pair of forecast models are promising a harsh few days of the New England region. After a pair of lethally hot days, Maine will settle in to a weekend that will feature plenty of rain, including substantial downpours in some areas.
What the forecast models are calling for after that initial rain burst is a potential nor'easter. Spring and summer nor'easters are the same as winter nor'easters, minus the snowfall. If the storm develops as the models suggest, it could dump a ton of rain across the majority of Maine, leading to a litany of problems.

@Brigit02 Welcome back!

@Broncobuddee @DJill68 @Mariamamjad Great month top winners!
Hi team! I'm headed to my neighbor's in a few minutes for dinner and can't respond much but wanted to drop in. Yesterday was real busy and I've been resting a lot today aside of my workout. Too much ice cream and rushing around yesterday wore me out. I finished a book I'd borrowed from my mom, double sad about it as the woman we borrow those books from passed away a couple weeks ago. Obviously I can get them from the library I'm just sad she's gone. I've been struggling with food because of stress and feeling like I'm falling apart but need to get a grip on it. I also decided to take care of myself more and not try to go to my nephew's elementary school and middle school graduations the next two days because of all the walking though I feel bad not going. I'd tried to go to the greenhouse Friday during a graduation and not a single stall was empty including disability so I had to leave. They're having a graduation party next weekend I'll be at and have their gifts. Have an awesome Monday, start of a new week!

🎉Congrats to all of those who made the leaderboard and those who had a loss 🎉
Wow, all the rescues, pups and kitties! Love love love!!! My oldest and dearest seems to have an ear irritation of some sort. So off to the vet she needs to go. Glad she came and showed me today. She is such a smart girl.
I see everyone’s weather is all over the place.
It’s exam time here. 1 child done and 2 to go, then off to Istanbul I go. I’m so excited. I’m ready to relax (ha I’ll be busier than ever) and enjoy free time with the kids.
My weight has finally dropped some. Being sick was great to lose fast then half came back and now it’s finally going down. Trying to go back to my regular meal plan, I know the calories and it works. Still trying to get back on track with steps and workouts.
@Katmary71 you take your rest and feel better. I’m sure your family will understand.
@trooworld oh the giggle I got from the vin debacle. I could see this with some of my gal pals. We have traveled across country borders for girl’s trips to watch Fast movies, the fun and craziness. I’m glad you both have passed through the issue.
@ddainiak a cookout sounds lovely. I’m invited to one on Thursday and so excited.
@micaroo4 wow that’s a crazy temp fluctuation!
Have a beautiful day everyone.5 -
Hi I'm Lisa.
I live in Florida
Married 31 years
Age 55
Son= 23 and Daughter= 21 live here
Pet: Gus- a black poodle mini poodle mix- he's young and still a little naughty
Struggled with my weight since young adulthood. Been with this group for a couple years now and love the camaraderie and support it provides. Gained a little back from my lowest low without really realizing it and then got stuck here for a long time- trying to get all the good habits back in place so I can get back to losing.

Yesterday was another cold day in Connecticut; never made it out on the boat. Took a walk at Gilette's Castle State Park instead. Gilette was an actor that played Sherlock Holmes on stage. He built the castle and when he died the state bought it and made it a state park. You can tour the castle and hike the trails. It overlooks the Connecticut River; quite a place. the On the way back, took the ferry over the Connecticut River instead of the bridge which was fun. My grandfather used to work on the ferry years and years ago. It runs from April to November, closing in the winter. Right after you get off the ferry are the train tracks. The road closed just as we got there, and we got to watch the steam train cross. The Essex Steam train is another tourist place in Connecticut. You can take a ride on the historic steam train and there is a museum to visit at the Essex station. They have a lot of fun events too, like the Polar Express at Christmas for the kids, and wine and dinner events for the adults. A nice day. A couple of pictures from our adventure. (Stock photo of the castle)
@mkksemail - That's a lot of rain. Hope it stays your way!, Cute kitties!
@AmbersWay - Istanbul? On vacation? Sounds like a great time is coming your way.
@txcritter69 - Must have missed where you were off to, but have a wonderful time.

@trooworld & @Katmary71 good to see you both are still here and doing well! Hopefully, this time I can make it stick.

Congrats to the whole team for achieving 3rd place by percentage and pounds lost!!! And thanks to @Bemybestby60, @broncobuddee @shaunarlr83 @DJill68 @Mariamamjad for leading the way! @broncobuddee, way to get 2nd place by pounds for all the teams AND 1st place for our team for May! Special shout out to @GabiV125 who was in the green for the month of May! Woo hoo!!!
@mkksemail Thank you! Yes, we've been friends since we were 8! That's true lol. You should be proud! Your kitties are adorable, awww! I love kitties, I love animals, but my dogs won't let us have kitties. A month of rain??? That's bananas!
@ddainiak Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. Monty! So cute!!! And he posed for the shot! Gilette's Castle State Park sounds incredible. Sounds like a great day. Those pics, wow, what a cool adventure! Thanks for sharing.
@tammymccrady6278 I hope you had a nice vacation. I'm sure you are still in, I think you can miss a couple but @broncobuddee, what are the rules?
@Katmary71 I'm sorry you are struggling right now, is there anything we can help with? I'm sure your nephews will understand. Good for you for taking care of you, you can't help anyone else unless you do!
@DebJB30 Congrats on the loss!
@AmbersWay Congrats on the loss! That's weird your post disappeared. HAHAHA yeah it was super stupid. Who fights over Vin Diesel??? I don't even like his movies. I'm glad it gave you a giggle and glad we are past that issue too!
@Brigit02 I'm glad you are back! And congrats on the loss!
@sleepygirl79 Congrats on the loss!
Hi all. We were supposed to go to the zoo and walk around yesterday but the roads were closed for a marathon so we went to a cafe instead. I had already had breakfast so I just had coffee and read a book. Later in the day, we went to my favorite used bookstore and got a bit of ice cream after. I didn't eat all my ice cream because I didn't feel it was worth it.

@Mariamamjad 30 lbs down!!!

Good morning Slims!
It's still raining here in NH. I didn't get my usual amount of walking yesterday. Rich hurt his back last week and it was tough getting him to do much. I got one walk in while he was resting, and then another short walk with him. It was shorter than planned because the rain started again and he wanted to turn back. I'm at work today; I'm planning to walk on my lunch hour today in spite of the rain. He's at work today too. He'd better not make that back any worse - we are supposed to be on vacation starting on Saturday, and I want him to be able to hike!

Hey guys!
I start with an apology: I missed this weeks weigh in. I’m going to skip it and plan on doing it next week.
My name is Meg and I’m a bit of a mess at the moment lol. Im 41 and have been trying to lose weight for as long as I remember. At 5’8” I always carried around 175 except when I moved off to university and sat around 160 for a few years.
Fast forward through life, children, injury, illness, stress and covid and I find myself above 220. I know people can carry this weight and feel and look awesome so please take this as only me and my own experience.
I feel awful. Some days I feel like an overinflated balloon. My clothes feel bad. They look bad. I have plantar fasciitis that’s acting up. I can barely walk after sitting or sleeping. I have no stamina and my walking speed is half of what it was a year ago.
I will cut myself slack - in that year I had a terrible bout of covid, then an unknown virus, then a 3 month battle with C.difficile and it’s lingered for several more months. I’m still working through that actually.
But I cope by eating. I eat stupid little things. My meals are actually fine. I love fruits and veggies. But it’s everything else I graze on constantly that is doing me in.
I’ve lost weight before. I know how to do it. I know my foot pain will go away in as little as 10 pounds gone. I am just struggling like never before to actually jump in and just do the thing.
So here I am in June. Ready to start. Again.
I’m glad you’re here along with me.8 -
Happy Monday, Slims! 🙋♀️
Update from the wet and gloomy Maine 😝. It was dark and rainy this morning, now it's a little bit bright, not currently raining, but clouds clouds clouds! 58°F/14°C ☁️
Meg, you got this! 💪. Kat .... Aw Oreo 😻. Good choices in graduations. The celebration is more important than the ceremony anyway, right? 🥰 dd, what a fun day! and cool in the ferry 😎.
Amber, I'm so interested in your mention of Istanbul! I think you are the Slim who mentioned living the ex-pat life? Do you live in Turkey? My daughter went on a 3-wk trip with friends to Egypt and Turkey last November. On the last day, she went in a date with a man she met in the Spice Bazaar, and fell in love 💕. She pushed her flight home by a day so she could go on another date with him. She's gone back for extended weekend trips every month since! Next trip in Jun 25. That one includes vacation days, so she'll be there for more than a long weekend.
Cheers to all! Before signing off, I have to say, BIG CONGRATULATIONS 👏🎉 TO AMBER AND MARIA ON YOUR 40 LBS SND 30 LBS DIWN MILESTONES!!!! That's amazing, WTG ladies 💪. Ahh, and mica
.. 😬 on hubby's back! Hopefully he'll walk too. Walking is supposed to help back injuries 🤞.

Hi Team,
Checking in for the 4th of July challenge, so far so good I've been out of the house for at least a half hour a day sometimes more.
Congrats on the team for placing third overall last week, and a special congratulations to the members on the leaderboard and to all of those who lost or stayed in the green.
I was diagnosed with Meniere's disease a long time ago and my hearing has been declining since then, I was told I might eventually go deaf. I need people to speak slower so my brain can translate what they are saying. It's a daily struggle. I do wear hearing aids, but it does not cure or help that aspect of my hearing. Plus, my hearing had been getting worse over the last 10 years so when I got hearing aids, I needed to retrain my brain to understand what sounds are. It's not automatic. I'm still struggling with that. It's very stressful for me.
When I get stressed out, I want to eat comfort foods. I ate the entire big bag of nuts the other day, which is equal in calories to three small bags, so not super bad but I've been trying to make up for it every day since. Tomorrow is weigh-in day so only time will tell.7 -
I invite you to join me on a quest for a NO ZERO DAYS 2023! What is No Zero Days? There are 4 simple ideas behind this:
There are no more zero days. A zero day is when you don’t do anything towards your goals. But that doesn’t mean you have to go full-throttle on your goals each day, no, just do something small if you have to, do a single push-up, walk to the mailbox, drink one less soda…anything not to report a zero day. Do one thing to make your life better each day.
Be grateful to the 3 YOUs: the past you, the present you, and the future you! Be GRATEFUL to the past you for the positive things you’ve done. Did you do that push-up yesterday? THANK YOU YOUNGER ME. Second part of the 3 me’s is you gotta do your future self a favor, just like you would for your best friend. Tired and can’t get off reddit/videogames/interwebs? This one’s for future me, i’m gonna rock out p90x Ab Ripper X for 17 minutes. I’m doing this one for future me. Alarm clock goes off and bed is too comfy? This one’s for my best friend, the future me. I’m up and going for a 5 km run (or 25 meter run, it’s gotta be non zero). MAKE SURE YOU THANK YOUR OLD SELF for rocking out at the end of every.single.thing. that makes your life better. The cycle of doing something for someone else (future you) and thanking someone for the good in your life (past you) is key to building gratitude and productivity.
FORGIVE YOURSELF. Tried your best to have a nonzero day yesterday and it failed? so what. I forgive you previous self. I forgive you. But today? Today is a nonzero masterpiece to the best of my ability for future self.
Exercise and books: exercise is self-explanatory but the books, read a self-improvement book…reading gets you to the next level!
Here’s more detailed information and where I got the above info:

@DebJB30 Hi there, I look forward to your intro!
@AmbersWay It’s disappointing when the weight you lose being sick isn’t what you really weigh, mine usually goes up about half too. Sounds busy at your house! You have a beautiful day too, hope the ear irritation has an easy solution!
@Cornanda I was just thinking we’re part of the old-timers in here now!
@19shmoo69 and @Jactop were here before me I believe, you and
@trooworld as far as people who still post weren’t too long after me. Tell our Gus no more of that naughty business!
@ddainiak What an awesome place to walk, love the photos, thanks for sharing!
@Brigit02 Glad to see you back, you got this!
@trooworld I’m impressed at you not finishing your ice cream, wtg! Does your husband like to read too? I'm okay just worn out, getting slammed by a lot at once.
@AmbersWay way to go on Onederland and 40lbs down, woot woot!
@Mariamamjad Congrats on 30lbs down!
@Micaroo4 I hope Rich is feeling better soon, if you want some back stretch videos I’ve been doing Bob and Brad ones and they’re pretty good for those with back problems. Sounds like you’re making exercise work despite the rain interfering.
@megnolia82 You sound like you’re recommitting, would it help to think of it as “just lose enough to get my food pain better” as the first goal? I usually did 5lb increments and it helped mentally to not think of the total. You have had a tough year, I admire your determination at not giving up!
@mkksemail Thank you! I love hearing your daughter’s romantic story, I bet she can’t wait to go back! Sorry to hear about all the rain, I hope it clears up fast.
@FushiaKat Great job on the challenge! Good luck with the weigh-in, it’s hard dealing with things we can’t control like hearing issues especially when we’re used to turning to food to get through it. I’m sorry to hear what a struggle hearing is for you right now. I know nothing about Meniere’s disease but is there something in the field of neuroplasticity that could help with learning? I follow a group on Facebook about techniques to help with coping with pain to retrain the brain and it’s pretty interesting but I haven’t done any major studying on it aside of that group and some reading. Good luck weighing in tomorrow!
Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Monday! I did a light workout then been catching up on a lot of things including getting the house clean, I’m having a few friends over on Wednesday and it’s easier for me to spread cleaning out over a few days. It’s been overcast the last half of the day, not sure if I have much watering to do but that’s what I’m doing after this. I’m hoping to get my minutes for the charity done as well tonight. Under calories for the first time in a few days. The friends coming over are all “let’s get dessert” people and have been complaining of weight gain so I think I’ll get strawberries at a stand and whipped cream for dessert that night. Have an awesome Tuesday!
No Zero Days-
Leg and ab strength, stretching, gardening
Good water- drinking a licorice detox tea with ginger instead of actual water, it’s pretty good
Under calories and pretty healthy

Ahhh how nice, plans with your friends in Wed. Nice! Cleaning ahead of time 👊
Great job on your No Zero!!! I love reading these. They're inspiring ✨0 -
@AmbersWay Congrats on getting to Onederland. Feels good doesn't it?
@trooworld What are you reading?
@shaunarlr83 I am intermittent fasting too; I shoot for 16 hours. It was tough at first, but now just part of my daily routine (been doing since February). I do have a cup of coffee with sugarfree creamer in the AM which I don't count as breaking the fast (can't seem to give that up). I don't know how much of my loss is contributed to it - but am continuing to do it since I am losing every week and don't want to mess with success. I don't get there every day, but 90% of the time I do.
Yesterday was a nice day. Took my morning walk with Monty in the AM. It was really chilly here, which is delightful for the AM walk. Caught up on the houswork (don't do any on the weekends), read little, worked on my crochet project (making a tank top sweater thing which is coming along nicely). Then out to dinner with my best friend who is visiting from Florida. Monday night is Bingo night with my Mom, so after dinner we met up with Mom and my sisters for bingo night. None of us won, but we had fun.

@mkksemail No worries, you do not have to enter into the spreadsheet, broncobuddee does that. We just have to post our weights weekly here! Congrats on the loss!
@Katmary71 Thank you re: the ice cream! He does like to read but not nearly as much as I do. We listen to a lot of audiobooks together. Ah okay, take care. That sounds like an awesome healthy dessert!
@shuanarlr83 I hope you had a great trip.
@mkksemail Great job!
@ddainiak I am reading a Kindle book I borrowed from the library called "Young Mungo" by Douglas Stuart. I'm listening to a couple of audiobooks: "Parable of Talents" by Octavia Butler (2nd book in the Earthseed duology), "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt (I have already listened to this once but it was so good, I wanted to listen to it again with my hubby), and "What Happened To You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing" by Bruce D. Perry and Oprah Winfrey. I'm enjoying them all! What are you reading? Sounds like you had a great day!
@gjaholy33 That's awesome! Woo hoo!
Hi all. It is estimated we make 226.7 decisions each day on food. I made some good ones yesterday...I ate what I brought for breakfast (which is a toss-up usually, sometimes I get a breakfast sandwich from the cafe at work). When we were running late after work, we grabbed salads to go instead of pizza. I stuck with my meal plan other than the salad. Have a great day!
