Nanc, that is scary so many people at your workplace have jumped on that bandwagon. It's sad what we do to ourselves in pursuit of some ideal. I try to stop every once in a while to appreciate my body for what it is. I've heaped abuse of various kinds on it my whole life and still it keeps going... pretty amazing!

Donna, Dr. F talked about the food industry in the book I listened to recently... End of Dieting. I liked that book. More friendly than some of his others. He read the forward and conclusion himself but it was a different person reading the book. Glad you are starting to feel better.

It was a very busy week at work and I didn't even have time to check in here. I brought a bunch of work home to do. I need to get laundry started and do my household chores this morning, then off to lunch with a very dear friend who is going through some stuff and needs to talk. I'll run to the grocery on the way home and do some cooking. Thinking of a big batch of split pea soup this week. Tomorrow I'll run to the office for a little bit in the morning then home to work all day.

Magic - It is so sad the medical training in US is focused on surgery and drugs rather than preventing diseases in the first place through nutrition and exercise. I don’t mean heavy duty exercise but walking, swimming or bike riding and yoga. 🚶‍♀️🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🧘‍♀️

Mihani - I am going to get that book, End of Dieting. I had a card making workshop that BRooks dropped me off to for 2 hours. I took unsweetened tea but was starving when he picked me up. I was so happy as he brought me a bowl of cold grapes! I think the episode of hypoglycemia scared him. 🙀

Marilyn - I too have struggled with extremely low iron levels and on iron pills supplemented by iron infusions due to bleeding Cameron’s lesions caused by large hiatal hernia. Common cause of anemia with older women. It was repaired end of May. I was thinking that was the problem again but it was hypoglycemia as my blood sugar was only 61. I had a premade protein shake two hours prior that was low sugar. Having Celiacs disease I don’t eat cookies, cakes, chips or fake gluten free products. I have cut out almost all sugar in my diet except fruit. My dietitian says nobody gets fat filling up on fruit, especially between meals. I just needed to not be lazy and start making to my green shakes with fruits again or cashew yogurt with fruit and nuts. It is an easy way to get your green leafy vegetables 🥬 in without tasting them. I add spinach, banana, apple, ginger and lemon slice with low sugar almond or coconut milk. Sometimes just water. If you try the green veggie smoothie start out with 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of spinach and build up. I don’t eat red meat or poultry. Recently gave up eggs. Trying to cut down on cheese.

I am going to ask my Internal med. Dr for a glucometer. Hypoglycemia is defined by blood glucose less than 70. Usually seen with diabetic patients on meds that bring down the sugars that didn’t eat. I don’t know why mine was so low but I do know I have had in the past.

Our anniversary is tomorrow and we are meeting friends on the beautiful south end of Riverwalk called the King Williams district in am. The walk is by the river, very shaded and all these beautiful German estates back up to the walk. Walking through this into town for breakfast tacos! I will have a black bean on corn. Dogs get an egg and cheese to share also on corn! Pics from card making workshop. They were ok.

Thanks Mihani and Bisky for your feedback on the newest craze drug. I am a bone cancer survivor...the drugs that saved my life were quite enough. I am not putting anything in me that doesn't need to be there. Some hard work and good decision making LIKE MORE MORE MORE VEGGIES IN MY LIFE...is all I need to get these last 20 off for good.
Most of you know I was 240 in 2003...I did get down to my goal weight of 135 in 2009...but somehow, I crept back up to 157. This morning...152.2 Darn it anyway, the other day, I saw 150. 6. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr hamwheelsmilf.gif

    Anyway, today's plan....

    coffee
did a bunch of stuff and no time for breakfast...had to leave the house by 10 for haircut across town.
    HOME...made 64 ounces of carrot apple...soooooooo
lunch: veggie wrap: lavash, herb lettuce, carrots ribbons, red onions, kalamata olives, sweet bell peppers, thin cukes slices...I used Bitchin sauce for the dressing. DELISH...most likely the next three days as well.
    snack: carrot/apple juice
dinner: spinach, just egg liquid, vegan parm
dessert: pineapple chunks and homemade soy yogurt.
    Living life deeeeeeeeeeeeeelicously!

    Mornin' all!

Donna, love your cards! Very pretty. I need to find something creative to do that I don't suck at. It's a struggle because I'm my own worst critic and am never happy with anything I make. The Riverwalk sounds beautiful and so sweet that the doggos get their own breakfast tacos.

Nanc, your wrap sounds delicious. I love sandwiches and wraps better than just about anything. Last night I made a veggie burger on a whole wheat bun with LTO and sandwich stacker pickles, brown mustard, but realized halfway through I didn't really want the veggie burger so I tossed the rest of it and loaded up more veggies on the bun. LOL

I'm still stuck on the scale, but truth be told I've been eating little bits of things with some oil and more starches this past week. My lunch out with a friend was postponed to today but after that I'm getting back to full no oil or refined starches. I could get away with that when I had more to lose, but at this stage with only 20 pounds to go, it's just not going to come off unless I stay 100% and get back to regular strength training.

The place we're going for lunch is all salads and bowls with numerous vegan options.

Getting a load of laundry done this morning then heading to the office for a few hours before lunch.

I discovered a really nice little farmer's market on the way home from lunch. It's only about 10 minutes from my house on a weekend with little traffic. Might be a bit more of a hassle other times. They had a lot of stuff! I got a couple poblano peppers, some heirloom tomatoes, a cantaloupe and a couple zucchini. Sliced up one of the tomatoes for dinner and so yummy and juicy.

I hope you had a wonderful time with your friend...and the farmer's market sounds lovely! We have a farmer's market on Saturdays, which I can now go to. Here's to a good work week for you, @Mihani

Patio designer is back today to make changes. HOA has strict rules. Anxiety is through the roof. Trying to deal. I just want my patio enclosed. My goodness, gracious!

    today...
    coffeekaffesmile.gif
    everything same as yesterday...

I do not do well with too many menu items from day to day. I need to stick with something, use it up and move on. I had to clean out the fridge the other day and so much food was wasted.
my soup cauldronsmileyf.gifwas so simple...carrots, onions, garlic, celery, northern beans, a small amount of rice ramen...I used vegan chik'n bullion cubes. It was ok. Today, I will had a big handful of fresh spinach and a dusting of vegan parm.

    living life deliciously... romansmile.gif

Nanc, soups are my favorite. So easy to throw everything in there and let the nutrients do their work. Hope the meeting re: patio went well today.

I got my greens with mushrooms and onions made tonight. I never got to it last week and it showed in my poorer choices with food through the week. I didn't add beans to this batch since I am adding beans to my salads this week.

Other than that enjoying walking in the beautiful autumn weather.

Didn't sleep well last night so I'll be heading to bed early.

Got home late from the office. Having a huge salad and I threw some of the cooked greens and mushrooms in it for good measure. I like a big mix of lettuce, raw and cooked veggies, beans, sometimes rice or quinoa. Definitely meal in a bowl stuff.

I forgot my lunch because I had a super early dentist appointment, and just had a Dr. McD soup and an apple for lunch. I think I'll try to stick to a light soup and fruit for lunches for a while see how I do with that.

Magic- that wrap looks delicious, great pictures. I need to find a gluten free wrap.

Mihani - soup and fruit sound good.

Busy day. Dog groomer appt with new groomer. My groomer has month off. New one did a great job. Now feeling guilty because this one is closer to us and I like how he groomed CB. He was recommended by friend whose dogs always look good.

Appt with eating disorder therapist. Mainly talked about upcoming visit with sister. Conclusion to email sister all the things I can’t eat or drink ahead of my visit. Sister is not going to like this. Going to stop at store and buy what I need prior to arriving at her house. Enjoying yellow delicious apples this year. They seem very sweet. Waiting for my favorite apple from NY to arrive in San Antonio called Snapdragon.

Excellent strategy for your trip, Donna. I can't imagine getting flack when you actually have a medical diagnosis and literally can't eat certain foods, and hopefully it won't even be questioned. Pics of new doggy do's?

This has been the week from h-e-double-toothpicks at work. Actually two weeks in a row now. I'm hoping to get some quiet catch-up time this weekend Planning to work from home on Saturday so I can get the delayed split pea soup made and do laundry while I work.

The plan for next week is big salads, split pea soup, fruit, cooked greens with 'shrooms and onions.

Morning all...sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, thinking of adopting another dog...I watch Lulu on the camera and I think she needs company.

I saw a dog yesterday (AZ Small Dog Rescue...website and Facebook page)...she got adopted right away.

Thinking of going there on Saturday...REALLY WONDERING IF IT'S JUST ME THAT IS MORE CONCERNED...AND LULU IS QUITE CONTENT WITH THE STATUS QUO.

Would love feedback from you dog people.

Oh, and BTW, I don't even know if Lulu would get along with other dogs since she has never been around others. Maybe the first step is doggy daycare for an hour or two to see how she dogs with other dogs.

    *************************

Good luck with the visit, Donna! Love that you are taking food that you can eat. I will check out the snapdragon at Trader Joe's ...they have a good variety.

A salad after work sounds perfect, Mihani. I think I will try that tonight.

    ******************
    coffeecoffeestat.gif
    bean/rice burrito
    Daring chik'n and applesauce
    apple
    big salad after work.

LOVE going in one hour later...LULU really loves it. A long Lulu walk each morning.

Off at six and dinner with my girl. By 8, I am pooped out and we are in bed, watching TV...my sleep app says I am asleep by 8:30. Much better sleeping without the anxiety of co worker and LOVING MY ADT.

Magic - what happened with co-worker? Glad you are sleeping better. Nothing helps as much as a good night sleep. As far as another dog goes it depends. I usually have at least 2 and they do keep each other company. But then it is twice the work and cost for dog walking, grooming, food and vet bills plus kennel or pet sitter costs if you want to go anywhere.

Mihani - yes I am going to be very proactive. Not only am I visiting her Oct 8-14 but again while my niece is away Oct 24-31. We are flying to North Carolina Oct 19-23. Checking out Asheville and Hendersonville,NC for potential retirement places. You inspire me with the soups. Going to make my favorite minestrone soup from Veganomicon.

I made 12 cards all the same for a card workshop. Not that thrilled with the card because of the rules. Not artistic but getting ready to make my favorite type of cards: Halloween!

Going to the “ Gucci” grocery store for produce after swimming. They don’t cost that much more but much better than commissary. Everything else in store is sky high.

Vet bills definitely add up when you have multiple pets. At one time I had 3 dogs and 2 cats and it seemed like I always owed my vet money. I always had at least 2 dogs, and sometimes up to 6 in my younger days when we had a "mini-farm" but of course back then my dad was paying the vet bills and it didn't concern me a bit. LOL

You might want to consider a boy dog... my last dog was my first and only boy and the relationship he had with the girls was different. My girls always got along for the most part but there were moments.

Bisky, love the pics! Looking very handsome with the new dos. You have mentioned a lot of potential retirement spots... leaning any direction?

I am looking forward to tomorrow working from home and doing some cooking. I'm going to the office on Sunday to meet with a client and do some more catching up, then a hair appointment and I'll hit up the grocery after for salad goodies and do some more prepping when I get home.

Well Italy is out now that only active duty can be seen at clinic and get their prescriptions filled. The 3 areas we are thinking about are the pacific NW, Atlantic NE and mountains of North Carolina. Ideal place would be close to military facility for health care, shopping and gas. San Antonio meets a lot of the criteria but too hot. Plus the state we choose needs to not tax military retirement. Again, Texas meets that and does not charge disabled military veterans property tax. Brooks will be considered 100% disabled due to his cancer and exposure to burn pits on deployments. NH also meets a lot of the criteria but really cold.

I'm working on seasoning two of my cast iron pans. I had a bunch of old ones that were really a mess. Friend of a friend stripped them for me a while back and I never got around to seasoning so I'm rotating them in and out of the oven. One is a brand new griddle that I got for my new stove because it has a griddle burner. I plan to make some oat pancakes at some point later today once the griddle is seasoned.

Plan for today is laundry, some cooking, and work work work.

Just finished our walk...came to my senses...for now, no more doggie fever. Thank you for your input, Donna and Mihani. I was looking seriously at a little boy, while at work. Came home to fill out the app ... he was already adopted. I think the universe is telling me something.

Off to the market...have three this morning to hit.

    Your pups look adorable, Donna.

Hope you find some time to do something fun, Mihani.

    Later, group!
