Wednesday Weigh In
PW: 136.1 (I think)
CW: 135.7
I'm happy it's down at least a little. Hopefully I have a woosh moment coming up soon. I've been at a standstill for longer than I would like.4 -
@frankwbrown -- that's a beautiful course, looks like it's going to have some vert and gain on the trail but the views are awesome. I can almost smell the high altitude pines from the photos I've picked up a couple of medals for age group and over all because I was the only person in the group etc. Still counts!3

Hurt my right quad just going from sitting to standing. Feeling a bit better but going to take a couple days off from running.3 -
@frankwbrown
I looked at the pictures and the trail route. Looks amazing! No cakewalk, but stunning. I don’t blame you for wanting to do this!3 -

My weight is still up but left knee is still acting up but better than what it has been. Trust me the count down to getting the left knee done is on. I've had ppl think I've lost mind being excited about complete knee replacement. They are not the ones hobbling around and not in the kind of pain I'm in. Healing pain is wonderful. Here's to getting knee replacement #2.5 -

Hello Shape Shifters. Still going strong here with my daily walk, 14 days in a row! I am pretty happy about that. I have never walked this much and my body is handling it fine. This morning wasn't very warm and the forest was still a horrible muddy and wet mess. I did a walk (5km) I almost never do because I recalled it as boring, but that wasn't true at all! I also ended up at the short paved walk (2.5km) which was a nice surprise, so I can combine them both if I want something longer. I have a new book so I am reading a lot. It is a miracle I got my 8 hours of sleep last night! Happy Thursday5

Congratulations on building your walking habit @Pupowl! Your post is inspiring me!
@Armygirlarmyof1 - I hope you get some relief from your knee pain soon after your surgery! ❤️🩹
I like @SavageMrsMoose’s idea of walking the beautiful racing course @frankwbrown. I agree with @Itadakimasu7 — You can take pride in taking a medal (or even finishing without a medal) for your age group, regardless of the number of entries. You’re showing up, challenging yourself, and taking action! So, please don’t pay attention to anyone judging from the sidelines! Even the non-finishers are ‘in the arena’ and make more progress than the people who don’t try! Good for you and all the other Shape Shifter steppers!
Congratulations on all the losses posted above! 🎉🥳🎉

😬😳😮😱😟🙄😬 — I just moved into the overweight’ BMI for my height. I’m going to start working out more as a way to refocus. I always eat better when I have exercise momentum. So, even though it’s my behavior ‘in the kitchen’ that needs to change most, I think I can reset better and build confidence by working out more. Onward! — and best wishes to everyone!5 -

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. Honestly, I don't let anyone else deter me from my goals. I'm well aware of the fact that I am not a fast nor a conditioned runner. I find most people are very supportive, and those that aren't are not my problem -- they'll smarten up eventually. 🙂
I kind of took it easy earlier today with basically just a tai chi session. But I just finished a short training run consisting of cadence drills and acceleration-glider drills. It was a 1.66 mile run to a Starbucks where I had a mocha and then a pleasant walk back home.
I'm not particularly happy about my weight see-sawing (the mocha doesn't help I know), but I feel pretty good about my fitness. I'm ahead on all my Garmin challenges for December, after deciding to drop the cycling challenge. That's something I might revisit in the Spring. I know I can do the swimming and running now, so it would really be something if I could one day do a sprint triathlon!

@frankwbrown that's an excellent goal to aim for ! You've definitely made strides in your level & variety of all the activities you participate in.Your garmin badge craze has encouraged me to collect more badges.I'm 75% done on my Andes expedition 🙂
Regarding your diet you think you would always have a calorie deficit with the calories you burn with exercise.Do you log & count calories ? If you did then your occasional mocha would be OK if within your calorie goal.

@Pupowl Sounded like a nice walk despite the mud. I really enjoy being outdoors. I think it’s good for mental health.
@frankwbrown i haven’t really gotten into the garmin challenges too much because I only use my Garmin for running and use my Apple Watch for other activities, but I do love a challenge. Do you mind posting what ones you join next month?
For the past two years I’ve been participating in a challenge here on MyFitnessPal for biking. The goal was to do bike 2023 miles in 2023. I just crossed the finish line yesterday! I like it because it’s doable, but literally took me all year long. I’ll still bike a few more miles the rest of the year in case my math was off….
Have a great weekend everyone! It’s beautiful here, but I probably won’t ski because my husband went out of town- he’s my ski buddy. Plus, I need to get in my 18 mile run sometime over the next 3 days.
My son comes to Monday and my daughter and her fiancé comes home Friday. Looking forward to everyone being here!3 -

I’m not sure why my weigh-in was so high yesterday but I was relieved to see that the number on the scale was down 2.5 pounds lower without any changes in eating or other behavior since yesterday. I worked out with the personal trainer as usual for 30 minutes at our weekly session, but also had some higher calorie snacks. Usually, my weight stays fairly steady, even when the overall trajectory moves up or down. So, I’m glad yesterday was more of an anomaly and I’m looking forward to getting back on track after that ‘wake up call.’
My sons are coming home tomorrow so I’d like to put up the tree tonight so we can decorate it together tomorrow. My older son is inviting some of his friends to play a game at our house tomorrow night, and it will be good to add a few festive decorations. It will be so nice to have our family together again and see everyone!
Last night, I saw an early screening of The Boys in the Boat’ movie, which was also a fundraiser for the high school crew teams. It preferred the book but it’s a good movie and it was so fun to catch up with everyone in the community before the show started!
Have a great weekend Shape Shifters!3 -

Hello Shape Shifters. I slept really well and almost woke up too late to put the bin for plastic at the street for emptying. Usually Tinus acts as an alarm, but he decided to be quiet this morning. I finally walked with my camera again, mostly because I really wanted pictures of goldcrests. Those tiny birds are everywhere in the forest at the moment, but they are really quick and never sit still so getting a picture isn't that easy. I am not really happy with what I managed to get so I will try again tomorrow. I did get a nice picture of a robin that I spotted in a tree pretty close to me. The walk was great; I really enjoyed myself.
I went to the grocery store after dropping off my camera at home. I have decided to try simple cooking again, so I got some veggie burgers, potato wedges with peel and frozen broccoli. The potatoes and burger fit in the same pan and frozen broccoli is very fast to cook, so it didn't feel like too much work. Let's see if I can keep it up!
Trying to go for more protein wasn't working out for me. I was just eating protein bars and protein yoghurt to get enough. It wasn't nice and also not very healthy. So I am going back to protein granola with a banana and soy quark which is very tasty. With the cooked food and a mexican burrito, it is a lot of veggies, fiber, nuts and some fruit; all of it is vegan which makes me feel better as well. I get around 60 grams of protein instead of 70ish, which I think is still good enough. Of course losing weight is going to make it better too since it lowers the amount of protein I need. Birbs under the spoiler. Happy Friday everyone3 -

Should I stay on active over the holidays? I don't intend to try and loose weight until January, I'm aiming to stay in a 5lb range of where I am now.1 -

@CasandraW I doubt you are the only one who is going up around the holidays! If you think that weighing in will help you stay within the 5lb range, then I would say keep weighing in. It is only 2 more weigh ins until the month is over.3
