Greetings all! I'm so pleased to see that @bowens1973 and @ashleycarole86 are back on the leaderboard! Making a great come back and tracking all the things. WTG you two! And @cleaneater80 is right there with you - congrats to all 3 of you for putting together all the ingredients for a beautiful week.
I am feeling a bit slow - my dad has been in the hospital for a few days, and he took a turn for the worse yesterday and last night. I decided to come down to spend some time with him and my stepmother. I arrived at the hospital this afternoon and he is more stable and resting better than he was yesterday - he was awake and talking for a bit of time at least. He is in and out of awareness, but it looks like he might not be ready to go yet. He is eating a bit, especially the dessert @EvMakesChanges (my sister) and I will both be keeping a close eye on how things are going. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to my exercise! I'm doing well with no alcohol - even with the stress of the past few days. It feels good not to be trying to relieve stress that way, and not wanting to. The habit is sticking! But I need some good old sweating and moving.
Quick catch-up on the nagging
Due through Monday:

@CarolAnnM2

How am I doing this week?
I felt for the past two weeks I did really good about eating when hungry. This week—-not so much? I’ll chalk it up to change of routine and my kids 3 extra days off of school this week due to extremely cold weather!
This week, I ate cashews everyday. And a “clean cookie” (oatmeal-cocoa powder, raisins PB-and agave no bake mixture) I enjoy eating as comfort food, but probably should refrain from eating until I make goal? We’ll see. It’s my only compromise I kinda feel good about. But I need to also make sure the scale move in the right direction.
Feeling myself cause I posted my steps on time. 😁
Room for improvement
I need to work on my macro. I struggle with sugar and protein. And I noticed I need to stay on my water tracking. I’m drinking but I feel some out-of-sight-out-of-mind slippage happening.
I’m choosing not to do the weekly group challenges anymore. I am going to do the BINGO board, but I’m not trying to post everyday—I just want to do the work. And focus my energy on my team and making the habit tracker light up with green!
Did you learn something about/from a team mate that encouraged/helped you?
@strong_fit_ells Loved the turbo trainer added to the bike idea and loved to see that happen for her to motivate her to keep going.
@adrimango Seeing her have a good week and lots of planning that went into it and it paid off! So that is super encouraging.6 -
Here is a Decluttering thread that just got revived for those who are looking for accountability, inspiration or encouragement for letting go of things ( or people or thinking etc) 🤷🏾♀️

Old weight 149.5. New 149
Busy day. Did a 21 minute ab strength workout. Went on a short walk with my husband. First one since his knee replacement. Cleaned 3 of my larger aquariums. At 10% that is 30 gallons. Went shopping. Was doing well until I ate a candy bar. Stupid
@jugar wishing your dad the best. Times like these are hard.
@StayFITTer thanks for the declutter link. I really need to start going through things. Big move with my new aquarium coming up. Lots of downsizing first. Very nervous about moving all my fish and corals.
Stay vigilant on your walks. And have fun6 -
@jugar
You’ve had a busy week. A lot going on in your world between work and family health challenges. Your faithfulness and how you show up is very commendable and inspiring. Thanks for all that you do to help make this community great.
@zumbaforever I hope the Decluttering link serves you well and glad you found it interesting. I’m going to keep musing there. I’ve bookmarked it so I don’t miss a beat.
And thank you for your encouragement regarding walking. I plan to stay vigilant and thanks for the reminder to have fun!!! 🙏🏾.

@jugar @EvMakesChanges - all the best to you, your families, and your dad. Glad to hear he enjoyed a little dessert!
@StayFITTer - thank you for sharing the Decluttering link! I think I will go and check it out myself.
This past week was busy and I simply lacked motivation. I know that it was due partially to the TOM and I am thinking about trying that cycle-syncing where you do exercises based on where you are in your cycle. I think if I had just done yoga every day last week I would have been successful, but I was trying to do more cardio and strength based, and I just wasn’t into it.
The other story to last week’s lack of success is traffic has been terrible where I am. Essentially it has been taking me double the amount of time it takes me to leave the office and get home. I’ve been arriving home at 7pm or later, and missing the classes I signed up for (and paying late cancellation fees). After sitting in traffic, hungry for dinner, and working 10 hours, I had zero motivation to go to a workout class.
This week, I signed up for classes only on the days I am not going into the office. That way I can’t blame the traffic. I also need to be better about leaving at a reasonable time when I do go into the office.
I hope everyone has a great week!7 -

@jugar and @EvMakesChanges I wish your dad a speedy recovery.
@StayFITTer The planning makes a huge difference AND it's a challenge to have the mental space and energy to do it sometimes. I've learned planning and batch cooking for an entire week is just too overwhelming and a brain drain for me. So I do it in 3 or 4 day batches which works pretty well. I made a big sheet pan meal yesterday - zucchini, squash, and red peppers with a layer of chicken sausage sliced on top. Easy, healthy and tasty. It will feed me for a few days and I have some easy options to mix in which should get me through the work week.
I'm at that season of life where my TOM comes sporadically, but now that's its here its clear that was a factor last week in yerms of energy and water retention. 8 weeks until the conference where I am co-presenting. 5 lbs to go to reach my goal for that event.5 -
Good morning and Happy Monday !
I had a good weekend, didn't do much outside of the house, Lots of football to watch, I am sorry about the Packers, you guys played really well, and deserved to win. I am hoping for a Ravens-Lions Superbowl now. We've already beaten the 49ers in a SB once, I'd like us to add a different team to the list
I did get all of my exercise in.
My tally for the week is:
Sun - 6398 +20 min Yoga + 20 min Pilates
Mon- 5677 + 15 min yoga
Tues - 2770
Wed - 5535
Thurs - 5742
Friday - 3030 + 20 min yoga
Sat - 5928 + 30 min yoga + 20 min Pilates
@Wishfuljune I feel ya on the lack of motivation when it comes to certain kind of exercise, I really want to do some strength training with weights, but honestly, I just don't like it, to me it's so boring and just not something I want to do, but I know it's necessary and I really do need to do it. but it's just eeeehhhhh.
Sorry your traffic sucks, hope this week is better and smoother for you !
@StayFITTer I eat nuts of some sort every day, (I have Virginia peanuts, mixed fancy nuts, almonds, and walnuts) I don't think they are something that are as bad for you as they are made out to be. They are really my only source of fat that I eat, and since they are the best kind of fat for you, I don't look at them as a bad thing.
I agree on the challenges, for myself they aren't very helpful. 1- I don't like to fail. 2- It causes comparison, and this is a personal journey for all of us, and I don't need to feel less than, because I can't keep up.
I won't even do the step challenge next month, because It's not helpful for me to see myself not getting nearly as many steps as everyone else, it makes me feel like I am not doing enough, even though for me, I am. Rest days are important for me, and I feel guilty taking them while in a challenge.
@jugar and @EvMakesChanges Thinking of you, hope you and your family enjoy your time together.
Hope you all have a wonderful day !6 -

As I am sitting here drinking my coffee and getting ready for the work week, I have been reflecting on last week along with the past year. I miss how I use to be, but only I can overcome and become how I want to be. I must focus on my mindset and work on positivity and staying focused. Don't give in to stress which then turns into depression. I need to find my motivation to put in the effort and work to become healthy and feel better.6

@jugar & @EvMakesChanges – sending well wishes to your dad for a speedy recovery!
@ashleycarole86 – how was that night to yourself? I can only dream of such things, so I would love to live vicariously through you.
@adrimango – how did your meet-up with your friend go? Were you able to stick to the one beer and kale salad? That sounds like an amazing lunch btw, and I’m very glad you were able to decide ahead of time what to eat.
@YinxFed – moving away from lecturing and back to consultancy is a big switch. It sounds like you’ve put the appropriate amount of thought into it though, and I am happy that you were able to make the decision that is best for you.
@Kali225 – I would love to see a picture of you with your new hoop earrings! Great work on hitting 25lbs lost!
Ticket to Ride is one of the best games ever!
@bowens1973 & @ashleycarole86 – fantastic work making it to the leader board!
@lauren_989 – what show did you binge watch? I’m notorious for binge watching things. It drives my husband crazy.
@StayFITTer – Your clean cookies sound delicious. We have to allow ourselves the occasional indulgence, otherwise we will end up depressed and binging before we ever reach our goals. I think the thing to remember is eating indulgences like the “clean cookie” in moderation. Also, thank you for the decluttering thread! This will help a lot while we pack and move to our new house.
@wishfuljune – long commutes are no joke. I hope you can re-balance your work routine so that you can make the classes you want.
@Gidgitgoescrzy – I still can’t believe the Packers lost. I could get behind a Ravens-Lions Superbowl. It’s been a long time since the Lions made the SB. I have an intrinsic dislike for them being a Packers fan, but I think it would be great to see them make it to the end.
@lindamartin27 – Something to keep in mind is that who you are now didn’t happen overnight. So, getting back to who you used to be, won’t happen overnight. Keeping that in mind and recognizing the small changes/wins, should help with the motivation to keep you going. You got this!
I haven’t had a question for everyone in a little bit. My question today is: What is one thing you like or appreciate about yourself?
I will start. I love the way my brain works. I am very analytical/logical. I can think things through without too much emotion and am very realistic. I tend to learn things very quickly and enjoy learning new things.

Here are my step counts and activities over the weekend:
Friday, January 19th - 8,906 steps, 40 minutes of spin, 45 minutes of CrossFit
Saturday, January 20th - 1,236 steps
Sunday, January 21st - 3,140 steps
I did not do well keeping to my January goals this weekend. I ended up drinking at dart league on Friday night. Saturday was my sister's birthday. She made gluten-free sourdough pretzels. I haven't had a soft pretzel in over a decade because I can never find them gluten-free. I had three of her pretzels before I remembered I wasn't eating complex carbs. Whoops. Yesterday, I allowed myself a hard seltzer after painting class with my mom. I could get hard on myself for all of this, but it's now in the past. I will just choose to make this week better.
In other news, the inspection of our house went well. We only have one or two small repairs we are going to request of the seller. And, I started packing so that when we get the house on February 26th, the move is easy.8 -

@jugar @EvMakesChanges - thoughts are with you and your families, and your dad.
@YinxFed - Sounds like a big decision you had to make - Proud of you making such a change knowing it's the best for you. Nice loss too.
@MaddawgMadsen - wow over a month and you'd be moving. So exciting and thanks for sharing.

Not the direction I want but I also had 2 nights with some larger meals and snacking. I found myself poking into the pantry in the evening and snacking too much. This is the first time in a while I've done it and know it leads to a restless sleep and lethargy the next day. Lesson learned to keep that habit out of my routine. Activity wise I've been doing great getting my workouts in and walking the dog everyday.3 -
Evening all.
First and foremost, thinking of you @jugar and @EvMakesChanges as you are with your Dad. I know there's been a lot going on with him and you've been a great source of support and comfort I'm sure.
@MaddawgMadsen My Friday night was divine.. I'm not always the best with pure downtime but I had a long bath, an extra workout and just did things that were nice (and healthy!) for me.
I worked from home today so I got to squeeze in a short workout before the workday started. It's cold and blustery out and I haven't felt like walking but my steps are low so I may hop back on the bike or do some other form of exercise tonight instead. We shall see! Brad is out at a work event so I'm not sure when he'll get home and I know by the time he gets home he won't be joining me!
I have meals out for lunch tomorrow and supper Wednesday so I'm trying to make great decisions outside those planned events.
@MaddawgMadsen I like that I genuinely care about other people. I feel good when I act in consideration of others while also prioritizing myself.4 -
@MaddawgMadsen I watched sky med, it's on paramount plus and it takes place in northern Manitoba (Canada). It's basically a flight ems with drama show.
I feel like I am also a caring person as well. I love helping others.3
