HOW IT ALL WORKS: The January challenge runs for 5 weeks, from December 31 - February 3. F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard.
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the first month of 2024 begin!!

Hello Shape Shifters and welcome to the new members! I hope you are all doing well.
I became a co-captain of the team in order to try to help out Jessica a bit. I joined this team in August 2021 and I have found it a very valuable tool on my weight loss journey.
There are a lot of things being offered here; there is the step challenge, the habit tracker, the weekly challenges, your personal weigh in and of course the Shape Shifter group chat itself. The more you engage with the group, the more you will get out of it!
Don't hesistate to reach out when you are having a hard time, chances are you aren't the only one and everyone here is kind and supportive. I often see people feel bad about posting a gain, please don't! We are all aware that weight loss isn't linear. Sometimes the scale just does what it wants, even when you do everything right. So post it, shrug it off and keep going. As long as you put in the work, the results will come, promise. This is a hard time for a lot of us with the holidays. Give yourself some grace, enjoy yourself and lean on your healthy habits. Remember that one day of overeating does not erase any progress!
I wish everyone a happy new year and a great January with lots of victories, big and small!3 -
FAQ for New Shape Shifters Members
How do I post my weigh in?
Userid
(Day of Week) Weigh-in
PW: 204 lbs (previous weight)
CW: 202 lbs (current weight)
LTD: 12 lbs (optional loss to date)
Where is the Weigh in stats spreadsheet?
Start at the Fat2Fit Main Page and under the header information, you’ll see a section at the bottom that says “TO ACCESS THE SPREADSHEETS FOR JANUARY CLICK HERE” followed by the link in blue. Once you click on that link, it will take you to the Summary page. Find Shape Shifters on the tabs at the bottom and click on that and that brings you to the stats page. Also on this page (scrolling down), you’ll find the Step Challenge chart as well. This is where we record your daily steps if you sign up to be part of the monthly step challenge. More info on how to sign up is below! Join us!
How often should I post in the chatroom?
Whenever you have a question, suggestion, story, news announcement or just want to brighten someone's day!! There's never too much...and please share recipes, tips, laughs, challenges, cartoons, pictures of your pets, pictures from walks you've taken, etc...we love it all!!
What if I have to be out of town during my weigh in?
Send a message to one of the Captains (JessicaKrall8 or Pupowl) in the chatroom or in a private message on MFP's mail and let her know your circumstance...if it's just for a week or two, you can be excused from the weigh-in. If you must leave for longer than a month, you may be moved to our support team until you return. When you're ready to come back, send another message and the MODS will move you back to active status.
What happens if I miss a weigh in?
If you're late, you'll be marked as LWI (late weigh in). If you fail to report in at all, you'll be labeled as NWI (no weigh in). After two NWIs, you're put on the drop list if no explanation has been provided. It's always best to let your Captain know what's going on and she'll make sure you're covered.
How do I sign up for the Step Challenge?
Send the Captains a message that you'd like to join, provide your daily step goal and tell her your favorite place to walk. It's that simple! Please be aware though, you're making a commitment to post your steps every 2-3 days, which helps the Captains keep the stats caught up. If you're not willing to do this, please do not sign up. (THANKS!!)
Do I have to re-register each month to remain part of Team Shape Shifters?
No, your membership will carry over month to month. The only place where this is NOT true is for the Step Challenge. You have to sign up each month to participate in it and this gives you the opportunity to adjust your daily step goal.
If I've missed anything or questions arise, just post them! We'll find the information you need as much as possible! Hope this helps!
Welcome!
Jessica

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday!
My name is Melissa and I’m a retired attorney who lives both in Houston, Texas and Telluride, Colorado. I have 2 kids. A daughter, who is an attorney in Denver and who is getting married this summer and a son who is a senior at IU in Bloomington, Indiana, who graduates in June.
I’ve been in this group about 18 months and have lost roughly 30 pounds since I started. Lots up ups and downs and stalls, but the support really helped. My original goal weight was 135, but I seemed to easily creep above, so I’ve revised it to 130.
Steps
12/29. 44,094. I was successful in my long run yesterday! Very pleased with myself! I also lost all the weight I gained this past week so hopefully I’ll keep it off through my Friday weigh in.
Quiet day for me this morning. I’m going to start un-decorating the tree. We have a tasting with the wedding caterer today as well which should be fun.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!4 -
Correction- not that it really matters but my son graduates in May.3

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words. It has definitely been a journey! lol. I’ve upped my activity this past six months — and I mean really upped my activity. I became a Jazzercise instructor in June, and I am completing my Zumba certification this week. That is on top of doing a class each day as a student. So I’m definitely eating more which makes sense. I’m trying to be mindful to increase my protein and decrease my carbs, stats I wasn’t very mindful of before. Maybe that will make a difference. Around the holidays is always tough of course. So we’ll see what the next few weeks bring. I have this “magical” number of 125 in my head. I may just have to let that go and be happy where I am 😊4 -

Congratulations to the Shape Shifter team members who posted a loss this week, especially since the F2F group had a collective gain overall!! 🎉🎉🎉 The holidays can be a challenging time to sustain our fitness and health nutrition routines, but it’s the longterm habits that are most important. A few days a year won’t interfere as long as they are the exception to our usual schedule. Onward to 2024!4

CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS and HONORABLE MENTIONS POSTED TODAY!! You're closing out 2023 with a bang...just THINK what 2024 will bring!!! WOOHOOOOOooooo!

I signed up for Shapeshifters on Dec 25th and set my starting weight and weigh-in day as Saturday.
I did not post my weight yesterday because I assumed the 25th was my starting weight and the January challenge didn't start today. I was just checking in to make sure that was fine.1 -
Hello Shape Shifters. Last day of 2023 and first day of the January group challenge. Time for another intro! I would love to see more introductions, so please share if you want to tell us something about yourself.
My name is Laura, I am 35 and I live with my cat Tinus in a small village in the Netherlands. I got really lucky with the house I rent and I live very close to a national park with a second one 30 minutes biking away. I enjoy walking, taking photographs of nature (birds are my favorite), reading fantasy books, drinking obscene amounts of tea, singing, video games and jigsaw puzzles. I am a pretty visual person and I like sharing pictures in the group. Here is a new selfie of me with Tinus! I had a challenge for December to walk in nature every single day and this morning was my last walk! I am so happy I did it. I suffer from chronic fatigue and some other health issues, so some days it was pretty hard. It does a lot of good for my mental health, heart health and I get to spend more time on photography all of which is great. I only have the energy for one activity a day and I think the nature walks are probably the best thing to do, even though it makes me very tired. Yesterday I got insanely lucky and I saw an otter out in the fields. It was very far away and it was a miracle I saw it with the naked eye in the first place. Thank gosh I had my camera with me! Otters are very shy, they are active at night and from what I could find, they have never been seen in this area before. I wonder if it has something to do with how wet it has been. Either way, I hope the otter is doing alright. I will do my best to keep walking as much as I can going forward, but no more rain walks! That is just too miserable for my liking. I will drop some pictures under the spoiler as usual. Happy Sunday everyone and happy new yearIt's far away, but just cool to have a picture!
A sparrowhawk I saw early in the morning when I was walking Tinus in the garden
Last puzzlehaul of the year. I love all of these so much
Namestamps I ordered for me and my mom. It is for her birthday, hope she likes it.
Not the prettiest tracker this week9 -
Gm yall. Tinus is looking quite handsome today Laura. I'll have my 2 year old great niece and 4 year old great nephew tonight. The 4 yr old is autistic and I've got lots of experience with autism as my 40 yr old brother is an autistic schizophrenic adult. Nephew is very verbal but parrots words or phrases. He has for awhile been obsessed with cheesy eggs when he's at my house and is also stuck on McDonald's as well. So I guess we will be in the new year with McDonald's tonight.5

Hello everyone!
New year new me. I'm starting over as of today. I'm tired of being tired and sick. Time to get working on me. I'm 54 with a lot if health issues and I plan on overcoming them this year. This is my year.
I live with my adult son, boyfriend and two dogs. I love my family but it's time for some serious self care. That means focusing on me more.
My highest weight was 255.1 back on November 2018. I had weightloss surgery and went down to 169.9. Went through a bad relationship and went up to around 200 which is where I have Been since 2021. That relationship has ended and now I'm in a healthy relationship now. I'm determined this year. I'm starting this year at 205.1 lbs

We would like to extend a "thank you" to our former Motivator, @Sbus12 for her help during the time she was on the leadership team.
We are now seeking a new Motivator to work with our team. If you have a few extra minutes a few times a week that you could pitch in and be part of our leadership team, I would love to chat with you. Job is fairly simple...just share your experiences, words of wisdom, support to our members who might have questions...or simply give an occasion pep talk, share a meme, positive quote, picture, etc...anything to lift our team's spirits or give new knowledge about all issues concerning a fitness, weight-loss journey. FYI this does not require recording the stats or spreadsheet work...
Requirements are creativity and a caring heart...which describes pretty much everyone already here! Let me know if you're interested and we will talk more about it. Would love to hear from you...
Thanks,
Jessica
@Pupowl @Cyncia85 @jugar FYI...4 -

I'm assuming this is your request to register for the step challenge for January? Will your daily goal remain at 4500 like December, or would you like to adjust it. Please continue to report in every 2-3 days...I know you usually do daily, but want to make sure the commitment is clear. Thank!
Jessica0 -
@Cyncia85 Is 204.5 your start weight for this month, please? Thanks!

Hi I'm Casandra, 40yrs old from Ontario, Canada. I have 3 daughters.
I live at home with my husband, 19yr old and 11 yr old daughters and 2 year old bully mix dog. I currently work from home helping my husband with his business, previously I was a dental hygienist. My life is currently comfortable, my past is riddled with various traumas. I've had a hard time healing and often feel "stuck". 2023 for the most part has been a good year, I'm in a much better place than I have been in a long time.
The holidays were hard this year, I had to walk my oldest kids through the loss of their bio dads step dad on Christmas. We visit the ICU to say goodbye to him on Christmas Eve, heard of his passing on Christmas and attended the funeral a couple days later. Their bio dad is not in their lives for many good reasons and we saw him for the first time in 15years at the funeral. Their Papa was always in their lives and is very important to them. It was vey hard.
Here's to a better 2024!

I hope that 2024 brings you much peace, joy, good health and prosperity! Thank you for being an integral part of this incredibly supportive team this year! Stay safe!
