Ouch. Not the way I wanted to start the year. Thought it was water weight, but it’s been two days in a row.5 -
Hi everyone, I’m Cindy. I live in Texas with my husband of 35 years. We have two grown children who don’t live nearby.
I had a total knee replacement last year and I’m still going to PT. I’m back to 3x week with my trainer and yesterday-I did four 1-min planks!
I dropped about 8-10 pounds after the surgery and since then I’ve gained it all back and then some. All of the habits I’ve developed over the past few years have fallen by the wayside and it shows. I decided to work on one habit at a time so I have a better chance of success. I’ve started with upping my water intake. I’m using the Water Llama app to track and it was surprising to see how much my water intake dropped off when I wasn’t being intentional.
I know I’ve been pretty scarce around here and I’m going to make an effort to show up more often. Here’s to a healthy 2024!7 -

I almost lost a pound! I did gain 3 pounds this week. Then lost it and some. I'm happy to have lost what I did. Next week will be better!7 -
Here are a few pictures of what makes it a challenge to game with Tinus. Around midday he will want laptime and then in the evening he is constantly on my desk. Blocking the screen, the mouse, sitting on the keyboard, wanting to press buttons too and even randomly swatting at things on the screen. Such a joy...

@CasandraW Oh that is rough! I hope you heal fast and that your dog is alright.3

@Pupowl your pics of Tinus had me cracking up lol. My husband and I are taking care of my daughter’s cat, Goose, during her last semester of college, and it’s been an experience lol. Here he is, enjoying life without a care in the world haha (sorry, I don’t know how to add this as a “spoiler”).
@CasandraW I’m so sorry!! Wishing you fast healing!

Don't worry about a gain and please don't be ashamed! Be proud you posted it and shrug it off. It happens to all of us at some point. Maybe your body hasn't got the memo yet, so keep going
@nancyinmo Oh, he looks so goofy! Cats sure have character don't they. I just wish Tinus would be a character somewhere else sometimes, lol.6 -
@Armygirlarmyof1 ~ You asked to be on support starting the 15th, but you haven't weighed in this past Monday. Do you still want to or should we already move you to support?
We are missing a few weigh ins. Please check in if you want to stay on the team, because you have all missed several weeks already!

Hello Shape Shifters! I had a pretty good week. Tuesday I needed a break from my daily walking and Friday was just constant rain, but otherwise I am still walking a lot. I also managed to keep my eating on Wednesday under control. Because it is my weigh in day, I often go overboard that day. It is really nice not to have to re-lose weight the first three or four days, but just keep going right back down after one. I have had some fun bird encounters in the garden. Yesterday I saw a brambling mixed in with the finches. I only saw that bird once before so that was cool.
Later I was sitting behind the window with my camera waiting for the brambling to come back when a bird alarm went out. I saw a blackbird under the holly tree literally bellycrawling forward until he was behind a wooden fence post. Three seconds later, this sparrowhawk lands in the holly tree right above the blackbird. I find it hard to imagine he didn't see the blackbird, because he hung around for several minutes. Maybe he couldn't figure out a good way to grab it. Either way, that blackbird must have been terrified! I got a really awesome view from only a few meters away. He moved from the tree, to the fence post, to the ground, back up the post, did some preening, back in the tree and then flew away. Super exciting and totally made my day.
We started getting some light snow and while it didn't stay on the roads, this morning the grass and trees were still covered. I had a walk in mind, but on the way there on my bike it was so freaking cold! I would have had to bike around 10 more minutes with freezing winds in my face and I wasn't feeling it. So I went to a different walk that was closer which was totally fine as well. The forest is even wetter than it was last time. I wanted to take a different route, but it was pretty much impassible because of all the water. Route number 2 wasn't much better, though my socks stayed dry. I was too cold during the walk, but I really enjoyed myself. Still having trouble photographing the goldcrests. I was pretty optimistic about a couple of pictures, but when I looked on my pc at home, I saw the birds were out of focus and the tree branches were in focus. That really made me sad! I will keep trying I guess. Pictures under the spoiler. Happy Sunday everyoneRainbow tracker

Thank you so much, I have been doing what I need to do but I think it was a normal influx. It will come off when it is ready, I will continue to strive to add healthy habits and healthy calorie intakes. When the weight comes the weight comes1 -
@CasandraW - Yikes! 😬 I’m sorry you got hurt while protecting your dog. I hope you feel better soon and neither of you had a lingering effects. That can be such a scary experience! ❤️🩹
@Pupowl - I love the photos and your stories of daily walks feels calming to me. This is a clear sign that I should incorporate more nature walks instead of living vicariously through your walks — but maybe I’ll strive for both! BTW, to my untrained eye, the goldcrest bird photos look nice! 🤩 Thanks for sharing them!
@nancyinmo - You’re story has been so inspiring! Keep up the good work you’re doing through life moves and other life transitions — Amazing!
@jessicakrall8 - I’m adding my appreciation for all you and @pupowl do for the group, along with @Cyncia85 for helping to motivate us!
Many thanks to everyone who posts regularly as a way to keep us all engaged in the group and focused on our progress, too! It helps me so much!4 -
@abowersgirl and @tatilove1988 - Welcome! I agree with @Pupowl that it’s worth celebrating every weigh-in we report, whether we register a loss or gain. I like your attitude about building healthy habits and trusting that following the process will eventually lead us to our goals in a sustainable way. We’re creating lifelong changes!
My father always said that guilt and shame are wasted emotions, encouraging us to reflect, learn, improve, and move on to try again. 😊
@Zaxa2021 - I’m so glad you found your stride and you are enjoying your runs again! I hope your children are settling into their new routine for 2024. This difficult toddler period will be over eventually — hang in there! I’m so impressed by the way you incorporate exercise into your day with them by walking and getting outdoors!! 👍🏼
@SavageMrsMoose, @LaurieWrobo, @pupowl, @Armygirlarmyof1, @jessicakrall8, and @looneycatblue — Great work getting those steps! I know there are others who are dedicated to the step challenge so please include yourselves here because I’m feeling too lazy to review the posts on previous pages! 🙄 — my apologies @izzyred9400, @frankwbrown, @pedal_power, jessicakrall8, @angmarie28, and other dedicated steppers! And congratulations to last month’s winners: Laura, Melissa, and Frank! 🥳
@Armygirlarmyof1 - Best wishes in the coming week as you prepare for your surgery! ❤️🩹
@cre804 – I’m so glad to hear that you’re doing well with your physical therapy following surgery, too. Congratulations on the plank exercise!! 🎉
Hooray for the Shape Shifter winners who led the way for our team last week. Congratulations @nancyinmo, @angmarie28, and @frankwbrown! 🙌🎉🥳👏
