@LaurieWrobo and @jessicakrall8: I like the word idea motivation/ challenge to get us thinking intentionally about our goals — and your selections are great!
The word “light” led to multiple images for me — including feeling lighter if I’m not carrying extra weight, both physically and metaphorically. And, I can feel the energy that “renewal” carries into the group!
I can’t decide if my word for 2024 should be something like “flourish” or “thrive” … or maybe I need to set boundaries and communicate better so that I can thrive?! I think I’ll go with the positive image of “flourish” because I’m trying to grow in a number of different areas so a blooming flower, with multiple pedals, comes to mind. Although I don’t expect every pedal to grow perfectly, I do want the flower to thrive. So, in my imagination, I’ll need to select a flower that lasts awhile — since I’m seeking long-lasting improvement rather than fleeting change. 😉5 -
Thank you @jessicakrall8 & @patricefisher for stating your word for 2024 - they're both great choices- how will you keep it at the forefront- a sticky note? On a vision board? By your computer/workspace?
Today my meditation was I am Vibrant and I feel that goes with Light🥰2 -
Happy Thursday!!

Hello Shape Shifters! Here’s my weekly weigh-in report —
Name: Patrice
Weigh-in day: Thursday
PW: 143.9
CW: 143.0
SW: 168
Ltd: 25 pounds
This was a good week on the nutrition side of the weight-loss equation. I stayed within my calorie target range and my macro-nutrition percentages felt good this week (48% carbs, 29% fat, 23% protein). I’d like to increase my protein while reducing carbs and fat but I’m making progress. Sometimes I struggle to get at least 20% protein into my diet so I’m improving!
I’ve had a cough this week that interrupted my sleep a bit. I was also busy with some work projects, and weather conditions disrupted my workout routine. Soccer and rowing were cancelled a couple of days due to snow-covered fields and delayed opening of school buildings, which prevented me from exercising those days. I’m looking forward to a rowing trip to Florida this weekend to reset my routine and enjoy time on the water. I hope everyone is doing well and feeling good about the week - enjoy!4 -
One of the running classes I’ve listed to had a coach describe picking a word to think of for your race and repeat it to yourself while you’re training. Her word was “glide”. My word was “athlete” to remind myself that even though I was one of the last kids picked for the team in elementary school, never really did school sports (band and newspaper instead) I am now an athlete. It actually helped.
I think my word for this year is grateful. I have so much to be grateful for and I should appreciate it more.
I’m posting a photo of myself and my husband. We are retired, healthy and enjoying life. It’s not bad to spend the morning skiing, even though I frequently complain about the snow quality, lift lines, light, etc…. I’m really awfully lucky and I need to stop and smell the roses more.
@LaurieWrobo Where in Colorado is the wedding? Usually it’s spectacular in September. And congratulations on becoming a grandmother! That’s very exciting!

Gm yall. Just a quick update. I'm healing wonderful. Just night's of insomnia which sucks because it's trying to find a comfortable position in the bed.6

@LaurieWrobo Thank you for becoming a team motivator! I hadn't heard of a word for the month/year before. Going to have to think about that.
@SavageMrsMoose Awesome picture, the weather looks amazing. I have never skied in my life though.
@Armygirlarmyof1 I feel you on that. I had a horse riding accident a long time ago and I could only sleep flat on my back for an entire year and even that wasn't entirely comfortable. It was rough!

Hello Shape Shifters. I am without a phone for a while which is a little bit annoying. The screen randomly died overnight. I played a word game before sleeping and a few hours later I grabbed it to turn on the flashlight because I couldn't find my stuffed cow and the screen just stayed black. I put it in the charger this morning, wondering if the battery randomly tanked, and while the phone got warmer and was charging, the screen was still not doing anything. My phone is only 1,5 years old and still has 6 months warranty on it. Cheap smartphones are still pretty expensive so I decided to sent it in for repair. It can take up to 14 days before I get it back. Hopefully they will be a little faster than that, but I will just have to wait and see. I can't sync my fitbit now which is the most annoying part in my opinion. I will just put in my steps when I go to bed and adjust the numbers when I can access the app again. A lot of food yesterday, thought I had it under control again today, but it went south in the evening. Reset tomorrow! Happy Thursday everyone3

Have you heard about choosing your Word for the year? Do you do this? Annually? Quarterly? Monthly?
Mine is Light
There are plenty of ideas on Pinterest - let me know if you choose one
Have a wonderful Wednesday 😊
@LaurieWrobo - this is interesting. Word of the year (WOTY)? I aim to journal daily and will incorporate a new word into my journal. Right now I am building my emotional word vocabulary; right now I am focusing on 10 uncommon emotional words. I've done an initial search on this WOTY and will read more about it later. Thank you for this
I will ponder my WOTY.3 -
PatriceFitnessPal wrote: »During a meeting today, one of my colleagues used a prompt to enter ‘one word for 2024’ in a Mentimeter poll and then it formed a “wordle” picture of all the words, with the words appearing larger and more prominently if multiple people entered the same ones. It was a good ice breaker to gauge the mood of our participants in preparation for a heavy topic we were covering.
Many people selected “love” and “kindness” but we also saw “stress” and other words that concerned me a bit. Teachers and mental health clinicians are feeling really over worked and undervalued these days; but, according to our research findings, they are also hopeful about the future. We’ll just keep trying to support them so they can continue to support the students, staff and families! I’m reminded of the famous quote by the Chinese philosopher Lao-Tze:
"Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny."
-- Lao-Tze
I’ve never read Lao-Tze’s book, Tao-Te-Ching so I think I’ll add it to my reading list for the future.
@PatriceFitnessPal - I recall a past post of yours that spoke to your profession. I believe you are a consultant now, is that right? Can you remind me or share a little bit more about what you do?
I am currently in school and taking a Program Evaluation course. I'm curious if what you do in related to Program Evaluation.1 -

Hi it's me again
I understand these challenges so much! Hitting the protein goal and having workouts disrupted by work and weather. I hope you enjoy sunny Florida!2 -

I saw the question about word of the day earlier today and I've been pondering what it should be since.
I think I have landed on patience. Patience with myself as I continue to grow as a person. Patience as I work towards my fitness/health goals. Patience with my family. I have 2 year old twins with some delays (speech and walking, no diagnosis yet other than delayed) and I have to remind myself regularly to be patient with their slow but steady progress. And of course patience with caring for 2 toddlers in general.

It sounds very thought out and is suited for you 💕💕💕
Remember to put a post-it note maybe on your mirror or in the kitchen somewhere that you are reminded every day😊1 -
@LaurieWrobo
After reading what you wrote about finding a "word of the year". The word that popped in my head, without even thinking about it, was "empowered ". I believe that words fits me this year.

TGIF🎉🎉🎉
To go along with your word for the year have you created a vision board for 2024? It's a fun project - lots of ideas on Pinterest - I bought a vision bulletin board from Amazon and my daughter-in-law had Vision Board books that you can cut out words along with pics those are on Amazon.
I've attached mine and have it on my workspace desk to look at every day
It's something fun to do and helps to chase away the Winter
Let me know if you're going to create one for 2024😊

Good morning everyone!
@PatriceFitnessPal enjoy Florida!
@Pupowl tnat is so annoying about your phone. We use them for everything. I’ll be curious if you feel different after 2 weeks without it.
@LaurieWrobo Maroon bells is outside of Aspen. It should be beautiful in September. Outdoor weddings are always a gamble. My daughter is getting married here in Telluride in June. It’s usually before the monsoon season (which typically starts the end of July) but climate change has made everything much more unpredictable. Aspen is really not that far from us and has very similar weather.
@nancyinmo Congratulations on reaching your goal! That’s amazing! You should be so proud of yourself!!!
I actually revised my goal slightly to give myself some wiggle room…. It’s so easy to creep up… so many you should consider that? If your goal was 125, make it 122 or 123 so you can go out to dinner and have a little bounce up and still be under 125. But honestly, you’ve done amazing and you should celebrate!

Yesterday was a bike day so I did 2 miles on the treadmill to make sure I got my 10,000 steps in. So of course, I still have 4 minutes left when my son walks in the door and I finish it instead of cutting in short to give him a sweaty hug. I might be a little overboard!

Hi all,I like the idea of a word for the year but maybe once a month to add a subtitle word also.Im thinking about my word but at the moment it is FRUSTRATION.
I was excited to learn from my fellow head Garmin badge earner @frankwbrown that some new Dance badges were been added. As I have been to my Dance class 5 times this week I have been unable to record the activity to receive the badge.
I've looked at various discussions on line to change the cardio to dance which I've done but still no badges.
Do you know how to display this page on the Garmin app @frankwbrown or can anyone else help ?

My word of the year is Pause.

One of my current mantras is...
Pause. Listen to understand. Respond with values and goals.
Pausing is also a reminder for me to be present and mindful.6 -

This past week, exercise went well but tracking my nutrition did not. I'm still keeping track of everything on my paper calendar and it's helping to see overall what's working well and what's not.
I'm enjoying catching up on posts and photos. Happy weekend!5 -

I worked out this week but I had an unhealthy snack yesterday. I'm disappointed in myself for it. I know the weight gain isn't that much. But it's still a gain. I'm here to lose not gain. Just just seems like I can't get out of the 200's!
