Hello Shape Shifters. I had a pretty decent week. Plenty of walks, steps and zone minutes. Food also went very well, except for yesterday. It was my moms birthday earlier in the month and she hasn't really celebrated in a while. So we went for lunch (me, my brother and his gf & kids). They had very richly made sandwiches. At one point I was eating a bun with 4 slices of cheese which was a little overkill in my opinion. They also got the amount of people wrong somehow, and thought we'd be 7 adults and 2 kids, instead of 5 adults and 2 kids. So we got a mountain of sandwiches that even with 2 extra people we wouldn't have finished. My mom asked all the leftovers to be packed so we could take them home. I got a slice of cake, but skipped the buns since they were quite big and I wanted to have my 'normal' food. I have no idea how many calories I had, and although it was my only meal of the day, I am pretty sure it was way over. I considered it quite the miracle when my weight this morning was exactly the same as yesterday. Weight loss has been quite slow this week, sometimes it didn't move and sometimes it randomly went up, but it's okay. My mom really loved the namestamp I got her and she was also happy with the fitbit thankfully. I set it all up for her and I hope she will get as much out of it as I do.
When I got home from the lunch, I was standing in the living room with my coat still on and saw that the sparrowhawk was visiting the front yard again. I got some more pictures of it really close, so that was cool. Otherwise not much interesting going on here. Happy Sunday everyone2 -

Ugh, it's been so stinking cold here. Like -20 to -40F. So I missed a couple workouts because it takes 2 hours to warm up my garage enough to workout in there, ugh.5

Guess what everyone—— I DID IT!!!
My marathon was yesterday and I needed to finish in 4:05 to qualify for Boston. I finished in 4:04:30 !!!
I just can’t believe it. I’ve fantasized about qualifying for Boston since I ran my first marathon 26 years ago. I still can’t quite believe it.
I’m sore today, but not injured. Going to have some pretty low step counts for the next couple days though. I gave it my all yesterday. I didn’t realize how close I was. It took me about 29 minutes to cross the start line- it’s a big race, so it wasn’t until the 40K mark that I had a clue. My daughter was cheering me on at mile 26. She knew how close I was and did not want me to slow down! Miles 23-25 were slower than my goal pace, but I had some seconds in the bank.

@SavageMrsMoose That is super impressive! Awesome job and big congrats3

Congratulations on finishing the marathon AND qualifying for the Boston marathon! Does that mean you’ll be running again in April this year? Or can you enter any future Boston marathon because your finish time is documented?
Is that a new personal best running time, too? I’m guessing they have qualifying times for different age groups but I don’t know much about competitive running. I’m just glad you were able to finish without any injuries. Great job training and preparing!2 -

@Cyncia85 & @izzyred9400 & @SavageMrsMoose I live in a small town called "Coaldale" in southern Alberta Canada. ( We are about a 3-hour drive away from Great Falls MT, or 293 km north of there)Today is day three of extreme cold weather. People's car batteries were freezing up, pipes were bursting in some places. A lot of schools are closed and none of the buses are running. Today is -34 with windchills of -43. But hope is on the way tomorrow we are supposed to warm up to -21 LOL5 -

@JenHul oh wow, that is chilling.
I'm in the Chicagoland area. It's been a cold weekend here. Right now it is 3°F (feel like -17°F). Stay safe and warm.3 -

@SavageMrsMoose -- Right on, right on! *high five* Now, are you going to try to get into Boston (I believe it's lottery right after qualification?) and grab you one of those Unicorn medals? You must have flown in that race. Qualifying is a heck of a deal. Good job!
@izzyred9400 -- I'll try to pretend that's a normal sky line, but I have a tin foil hat that says wth. :-P4 -
@SavageMrsMoose that's an amazing achievement & a fantastic time. What a great athlete you are !! Congratulations on getting a chance to enter the Boston Marathon.I know it's not an easy task & takes endurance training & a great spirit 👏 you're a star🏆

Good morning everyone! Thank you for all the congratulations! I'm still walking on air. My fastest official time before this was 4:17 in 1998 - 26 years ago!
However, my body is still all over the place from the run. I gained 2.5 pounds overnight! Going to just keep drinking water. It will sort itself out eventually.
Here is how you qualify to run in Boston: there are posted qualifying times based on gender and age. You apply in September for the race the following April. So I'll be applying for April 2025- not the race in 2024.
The gift? It is your age on the day of the Boston race, not the day of your qualifying race, so I'll be applying as a 55 year old, which is a 10 minute slower pace than a 54 year old....
The catch? Not everyone who qualifies and applies gets in every year. There is a cap, so if there are too many applicants, the slower times are rejected. So there is a chance I won't actually get to race. This past year, you had to be 7 minutes faster than qualifying time. The year before, they took everyone. So who knows. I've at least got to experience the race by running for a charity in 2022, but I felt a bit like an imposter because I didn't qualify by time. I'd love to go back.
We so lucked out on the weather here. It got awful yesterday. My daughter is still trying to get back to Denver. Her flight got cancelled yesterday. She was re-booked on a flight late last night, but it kept getting delayed. Hopefully she'll get out of here this morning. She's at least safely at the airport and through security. She says its a nuthouse at the airport.

Congratulations @SavageMrsMoose!!
Let me join everyone in congratulating you on not only completing your marathon, but doing so in only slightly over four hours, and qualifying for Boston! That's an under 10 minute/mile pace! Color me impressed! I run about ¼ the distance at twice the pace! 😂
I hope you do get into Boston 2025!

Hello Shape Shifters. I got picked up this morning by my mom and her partner. They are still on vacation nearby. We got snow overnight and it was really pretty here. We walked in an area around 30 minutes away by car, and there was a lot less snow over there. We still had a pretty nice walk with some snow during it. I thought we walked around 6,5 kilometers, but my mom checked when we got home and it was almost 10! It didn't feel like that at all. We were out for 3 hours. I am really tired now so bed early. Pictures under the spoiler. Happy Tuesday everyone9
