Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday was crazy busy and I am not sure how I managed to do it all. We went for a long walk in the morning and saw a lot of cool stuff. A deer, a black woodpecker, an adder, a female redstart working on a nest in a tree and some stonechats. My mom has been having some issues with her back lately, so she had to sit often and she was in quite a bit of pain which sucked. We left at 7:09 and were home again a little before 11:00 so that was a long time. I had some time to relax when we got home. After lunch we walked to the store to pick up some food. Then after dinner I decided it would be a good idea to mow the front yard. When I was pretty much done, the mower decided to die so that also sucked. Then I still had to do my gym rings workout and the rest of the evening we played Rummikub. I ended the day with over 26k steps and I was absolutely exhausted. I went to bed early and had a good sleep. Happy Sunday everyone5

I have to watch what I do. no heavy lifting. I have to do seated workouts. I have to weigh myself every day now. 3 pound gain in one day or 5 pound gain in one week, I have to rush to the er. now it's going to make it even harder for me to lose weight.4 -

Daily step goal: 10,000
Fri 5/10: 9,600
Sat 5/11: 7,065
Friday evening, I knew I was still short some steps but felt confident I'd get in the extra steps. Somehow this slipped my mind, and I woke up Saturday morning to discover, on what would have been the 28th day of 10,000 steps, that I was short 400 steps! That put me in a bad mood, and I was sulking all morning. By the time I was ready to do my 5k walk, it was too hot. So I decided to take it easy and postponed my walk until today. I normally take a day or two off after hitting 30 days of 10,000 steps, so yesterday was a day off: I walked just one mile indoors.
Congrats to all you who did your 5k yesterday. I'm heading out now to do mine...

@jessicakrall8, @DaffyGirl88, @izzyred9400
I finished my 5k walk, finally. Actually, at 3.10 miles, it was just a hair short of 5k which is ~3.10686 miles. I usually shoot for 3.11 miles to ensure I get a full 5k. But I was trying to finish in 60 minutes, and since the Garmin May Weekend Walking badge is for 3 miles not 5k, 3.10 miles/60 minutes is where I stopped.
(For whatever reason, the walking badges are usually for 3 miles while the running badges are for 5k, or 10k, or ...)
@jessicakrall8, I find the start and end of my walks or runs are the hardest and the middle is the easiest. At the start, your body is still trying to adjust to the activity, then you "get your second wind" and things are easier... until they aren't. It gets easier after your cardiovascular system gets up to speed then harder as your muscles begin to fatigue.
My lap times tell my story:
lap 1: 1 mile, 20:48.7 minutes
lap 2: 1 mile, 18:35.7 minutes
lap 3: 1 mile, 18:41.6 minutes
lap 4: 0.10 mile, 2:00.0 minutes
total: 3.10 miles, 1:00:06.0 minutes, average pace 19:22 min/mile.

Hi Y'all:
I'm having a horrible allergy attack today, so Benedryl is my friend and I'm mostly resting, but doing a few things around the house and walking some inside...drip, drip, drip goes my nose...very annoying and my throat is raw. I feel like creeping crud. UGH!
@frankwbrown Usually I find that's the case for my 5k walks too...usually it's the third mile that's the hardest, but this time, it was the 2nd...perhaps because I was just so darned tired...VERY hectic week. Glad you finished yours...great time! I ended up with 3.17 miles in an hr and 17 minutes...not my best time, but I was happy with it. Thanks for joining us!
To all the Moms out there...Happy Mother's Day!
Jessica

Good morning Shape Shifters. I had another long walk with my mom yesterday. She thought it would be better if we walked on paved roads so we adjusted the walk a little. Her back wasn't as bad as the previous day, but she was still sore at the end. We also didn't see a whole lot, though this time there were 2 adders which was cool. The brids were all very far away. We ended up walking for 3 hours which was plenty. The rest of the day I didn't do much. Happy Monday everyone5

The daily card:There are many psychological health benefits to expressing gratitude, for both the person giving and the person receiving. People who receive expressions of gratitude will feel a boost to their sense of social well-being. Also, their resistance to negativity increases, and the more grateful they are likely to be in turn. Get in touch with someone you are grateful for today and tell them how they have made a difference in your life.2

Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday was the last day that my mom was here. She didn't want to walk for a 3rd day in a row so I went by myself. It was pretty hot and there were lots of bugs, so I kept it short. There wasn't a lot to see but I am glad I went. My moms partner and her brother showed up around 11:00. I had a stack of puzzles for my uncle that I didn't want to keep because completing them once was enough suffering, lol. I am curious to see how he does with them. He got me a new puzzle and a kingfisher figurine which was very sweet. We went out for lunch at my favourite restaurant near the forest and I enjoyed my avocadoburger. Not sure about the calories of that, but I was very careful the whole day so I am pretty sure it was fine. We went back to my house after lunch, packed up the car and then they headed home. It was nice to be alone again and I relaxed outside a bit with Tinus. Later in the day I got my gym rings workout in. It was the first time I did 3x10 set/reps instead of 3x8. I didn't think it would make a big difference, but it was pretty tough. It could also be because I have had a very busy week and I was just plain tired too. Either way, I got it done again. I forgot to post my rainbow tracker, a puzzle I made with my mom and some pictures from Sunday so I will leave those under the spoiler. Happy Tuesday everyone6
