HOW IT ALL WORKS: The September challenge runs for four weeks, from September 1st - September 29th.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get September on the road!

Hello Shape Shifters and welcome to the new members! I hope you are all doing well.
I am one of the captains of the team together with Jessica. We take care of all the data such as your weigh ins and the steps. If you have any questions, let us know! I joined this team in August 2021 and I have found it a very valuable tool on my weight loss journey.
There are a lot of things being offered here; there is the step challenge, the habit tracker, the weekly challenges, your personal weigh in and of course the Shape Shifter group chat itself. The more you engage with the group, the more you will get out of it.
Don't hesistate to reach out when you are having a hard time, chances are you aren't the only one and everyone here is kind and supportive. I often see people feel bad about posting a gain, please don't! We are all aware that weight loss isn't linear. Sometimes the scale just does what it wants, even when you do everything right. So post it, shrug it off and keep going. As long as you put in the work, the results will come, promise. Remember that one day of overeating does not erase any progress!
I wish everyone a great September with lots of victories, big and small!

FAQ for New Shape Shifters Members
How do I post my weigh in?
Userid
(Day of Week) Weigh-in
PW: 204 lbs (previous weight)
CW: 202 lbs (current weight)
LTD: 12 lbs (optional loss to date)
Where is the Weigh in stats spreadsheet?
Start at the Fat2Fit Main Page and under the header information, you’ll see a section at the bottom that says “TO ACCESS THE SPREADSHEETS FOR JANUARY CLICK HERE” followed by the link in blue. Once you click on that link, it will take you to the Summary page. Find Shape Shifters on the tabs at the bottom and click on that and that brings you to the stats page. Also on this page (scrolling down), you’ll find the Step Challenge chart as well. This is where we record your daily steps if you sign up to be part of the monthly step challenge. More info on how to sign up is below! Join us!
How often should I post in the chatroom?
Whenever you have a question, suggestion, story, news announcement or just want to brighten someone's day!! There's never too much...and please share recipes, tips, laughs, challenges, cartoons, pictures of your pets, pictures from walks you've taken, etc...we love it all!!
What if I have to be out of town during my weigh in?
Send a message to one of the Captains (JessicaKrall8 or Pupowl) in the chatroom or in a private message on MFP's mail and let her know your circumstance...if it's just for a week or two, you can be excused from the weigh-in. If you must leave for longer than a month, you may be moved to our support team until you return. When you're ready to come back, send another message and the MODS will move you back to active status.
What happens if I miss a weigh in?
If you're late, you'll be marked as LWI (late weigh in). If you fail to report in at all, you'll be labeled as NWI (no weigh in). After two NWIs, you're put on the drop list if no explanation has been provided. It's always best to let your Captain know what's going on and she'll make sure you're covered.
How do I sign up for the Step Challenge?
Send the Captains a message that you'd like to join, provide your daily step goal and tell her your favorite place to walk. It's that simple! Please be aware though, you're making a commitment to post your steps every 2-3 days, which helps the Captains keep the stats caught up. If you're not willing to do this, please do not sign up. (THANKS!!)
Do I have to re-register each month to remain part of Team Shape Shifters?
No, your membership will carry over month to month. The only place where this is NOT true is for the Step Challenge. You have to sign up each month to participate in it and this gives you the opportunity to adjust your daily step goal.
If I've missed anything or questions arise, just post them! We'll find the information you need as much as possible! Hope this helps!
Welcome!
Jessica

Happy September everyone. I'm going to start my workout goals on Tuesday (kids first day of school and no longer needing to be to work at 6am (except Sunday) so I am going to still get up at 5am, but workout instead. With new workout goals, I'm upping my step goal as well from 10,000 to 11,000

8/31-8,9573 -
I would like to join the step challenge, please.
I'm going to set my goal to 10,000. That may be a reach on some days with everything going on, but that's what makes it a challenge, right?3 -
Hello Shape Shifters. Time for another intro!
My name is Laura, I am 36 and I live with my cat Tinus in a small village in the Netherlands. I got really lucky with the house I rent and I live very close to a national park with a second one 30 minutes biking away. I enjoy walking, taking photographs of nature (birds are my favorite), reading fantasy books, drinking obscene amounts of tea, singing, video games and jigsaw puzzles.
I struggle with some health problems that make weight loss and life in general a little challenging, but I try my best! I had another bad month, that is number 3. I am not happy about it so here we go again for September. The last week has been really lazy. I didn't walk because of a storm we had. It caused a lot of damage in the forest and it was too dangerous to go out. I could have kept up with home workouts, but instead I did nothing. It wasn't just the storm, I was also just genuinely exhausted and my body was sore. I still don't feel great, but I got enough of a break, so time to get back on track.Oct 2020 ~ 247.0 lbs -- Highest weight, started seriously to work on losing weightI haven't been up to much lately. Played a lot of video games, finished a puzzle, bought some new ones and did a bunch of reading. Last week I went to the vet with Tinus. He usually has a hairball once a year, but recently he had 3 in one month and he threw up twice. That is obviously too much for him so I wanted to get him checked out just to be safe. As I expected, she didn't find anything wrong. Tinus already gets something to help the hairballs pass through his body twice a week, she said it was totally safe to give that more often so I am giving that daily now. Hopefully that is all that is needed to fix it. So far so good.
Aug 2021 ~ 214.0 lbs -- Joined this group!
Jan 2022 ~ 195.3 lbs -- Lowest weight I got to, it didn't last long and I started gaining here. I started (and quit again) a medication a while before which really messed me up. I can't blame 9 months of over eating on it, but it for sure caused a lot of problems. Also, lockdown and gym closed.
Oct 2022 ~ 244.7 lbs -- Came back to the group from support having to start basically all over again.
Mar 2023 ~ 212.9 lbs -- Not sure why it went wrong here (Birthday stuff maybe), but started gaining again and I couldn't get it together
Sep 2023 ~ 238.0 lbs -- Came back to the group from support again. The gain was less this time, but still not pretty.
May 2024 ~ 183.4 -- New lowest weight. I was super happy about it and then depression hit and I struggled a lot to get back on track.
I haven't stepped on the scale since early June. I feel like I gained a lot of weight and I am too afraid to see what the number is. I expect it is over 200 lbs again.
Yesterday I finally sold the big cat tree. I got a lot of messages about it, but most people offered 90/100 euros when I had it up for 180 which was really annoying. I am fine with coming down a bit, but at least be realistic. New it costs 285 euros and Tinus barely used the cat tree so it was still in really good shape. Anyway, I ended up selling for 150 which was the minimum amount I had a mind. She got it for her 3 cats and later in the afternoon she sent me a picture of the tree with 2 of her cats already using it and said they love it so that was really nice.
Yesterday was also a perfect day for the first time in a looong while. I slept enough, remembered my vitamins, food was healthy and calories were a normal amount, I did my gym rings and a 30 minute youtube workout after. I changed some of my daily goals in the 75 day tracker and I started over yesterday. I am so disappointed with myself and how the past 3 months have been. It has just been a lot of days of not caring, finding excuses, saying I will start "tomorrow", that I 'deserve' treats after a bad day, another day won't matter since I am already fat anyway, and the list goes on... I am sure some of you can relate. While a very loud part of me wants to give up, I am also aware that it is not the biggest part or even the most important part. It is just easier to not care, but that doesn't make it the right choice. So yeah, I will keep trying until I figure it out again. Have a good day everyone6 -
Hi everyone. I thought I would share a bit of an intro and where I am at with my plans of weight loss/healthy life stuff.
I'm Julie, will be 36 years old at the end of the month, living in the Phoenix area in AZ. I'm a SAHM to my adorable twin boys, who will be 3 on the 15th. I also live with my husband.
Back in March, I was around 130lbs, approaching my goal of 125 (thanks, in part, to this wonderful team). Shortly after that, my boys got diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that will significantly effect their life. I fell into a deep, hazy depression where I ate (and drank) A LOT. I gained 30 lbs in a very short amount of time, landing me over 160lb. I got on some meds that have helped tremendously, helping me to rebuild a healthier life.
In the last month, I quit drinking (except for a beer or two while socializing occasionally). I cut out mindless eating, and started tracking my food (inconsistently, but I'm working on it). I tried to be more intentional with movement throughout the day. In the last couple days, I started back running at the gym. I lost a few pounds, but more importantly, I feel like I have a decent foundation for moving forward.
So that's where I'm at right now. My goals for this month are to
1. track all my food and try to stay under
2. regularly go the gym to run, at least 4x a week
3. add in some time of weight training (body weight, bands, that kind of stuff).
I'm looking forward to a good month. Right now, I am super motivated to make the changes I need to. This time, I am doing it for my boys, as they will need me to be the best I can. They deserve the best.

Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday was perfect day number two as far as hitting all my daily goals. I went to bed pretty early on Monday because I had a horrible headache, ended up sleeping 10 hours and 29 minutes (top 3 record for sure) and woke up with another horrible headache. So it took a lot of effort to go out for my walk, also because I had a bit of a late start. I was in the forest around 9:15 and it was already too warm and humid at that point. I can't say I enjoyed my walk; I just wanted to get it done, go home and shower, drink lemonade, have a popsicle. There also wasn't much to see except for a hairy caterpillar (buff-tip) that was on the road so I moved it somewhere safer.
While cleaning Tinus' waterfountain, I noticed the power cord to the pump was damaged. It is still working, but that didn't seem safe so I ordered a new pump. I also ordered a little bit of birdfood and Tinus' favourite treats because why not. There was a weather warning in the evening for thunder, rain and wind, but sadly it wasn't that impressive. Thunder started around 20:00 so I removed all the cables from the outlets and read a little. It was getting dark pretty fast though so I couldn't read for long and I ended up going to bed on time. It didn't really cool down much at all which is a bummer. I really want this warm weather to be over with! Have a good day everyone5 -
