Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday was another good day. I slept well and this time didn't wake up with a killer headache which I appreciated. Since we had some rain and it was warm again in the morning, it was a little misty outside. My walk was still a bit of a struggle. It is crazy how fast you can get out of shape and I only skipped a week! My mom is visiting in two weeks so I need to get used to the walking again fast.
Around noon I went to the grocery store. Made it home without any junk food so that was great. I wanted something salty and decided to be smart and get a nutmix instead of chips. That is a much safer option and won't be something I am tempted to overeat on. The killer headache decided to show up again sadly. I took some pills that helped a little, but it didn't last so I went to bed for a bit. Thankfully that did make me feel better. Since I wasn't feeling good and had a nap, I skipped a meal so I had a protein drink when I got up. Then I did my gym rings workout, cooked dinner and spent some time outside with Tinus and a book. Happy Wednesday everyone7 -

So I went to log in my breakfast and it's showing that I already have 1,116 calories from exercise 😯 I wonder what it thinks I did? 🤷♀️. That must've been one helluva 20 minutes spin class. 😂7 -

Welcome @globalhiker to our team! Take a few minutes and introduce yourself so we can start to get to know you a bit. Please share a little about your goals for Sept and beyond! I'm Jessica, one of your two captains, the other being @Pupowl . Along with us, we have two wonderful Motivators, @LaurieWrobo and @Cyncia85 ! You've found a great group of caring people to help keep you inspired and motivated on this journey! I just know you'll find it as great as I have throughout the years that I've been here...
Please take a moment and go back to page one of this chat thread and read the FAQ page, which should give you a lot of basic information. Anything else, that's not covered there, just make a posting in this chat thread and I guarantee you'll get a response.
Once, again, welcome and remember to participate OFTEN...you'll get out of this group, exactly what you put into it. TRUST me! Good luck in September and I look forward to celebrating milestones with you soon!

Hello Shape Shifters! I'm new to the team and excited to reach new goals with you. I'm a 58 years young working mom and wife living in AZ. Avid hiker and traveler, run a few times a week, weight class at the gym 2x a wk. 25 lbs. over my target weight, 14 of which rapidly came on in August. Looking to reverse this trend and make a 2 lb. a week weight loss a reality.
I'll post a few times a wk and also on Sat., my weigh-in day.
Starting wt: 150.4 lbs.5 -
Hello Shape Shifters! Welcome, @globalhiker!
I’m Patrice, a 58 year old woman living in northern Virginia (USA) with my husband. We have two adult sons who spend most of their time at college. Our younger son attends Clemson University and lives in an apartment near his campus in South Carolina. Our older son lives close to our extended family in Boston, MA. He’s a student at Boston College, attending part-time while working (also part-time). My husband and I spend about one week a month in Boston to care for aging family members. There’s always a long ‘To Do List’ when we visit — In fact, we just got back late last night!
I started MFP in 2020 at my highest non-pregnancy weight of 168, and I lost almost 50 pounds by September 2021, before settling in a comfortable-for-me range of 125-130 for about a year. Then, I started focusing on some other areas of life I want to improve and gradually gained back about half the weight over the last couple of years. Now, I’m finally seeing a downward trajectory again! — I’m about 20 pounds over my target weight of 125.
This month, I’d like to increase my exercise and overall movement. I’ll weigh and measure my food more regularly so that I’m not guesstimating the number of ‘calories in’ so much. Sometimes my body thinks it’s hungry when it’s actually thirsty or tired so I’ll try to drink more water and get enough sleep, too. Best wishes for September, everyone. Go get those goals!

Good morning Shape Shifters. I had another good day. It rained most of the day so instead of going for a walk, I did a workout at home in the morning. Always good to get it done early in the day. I did some laundry, gaming, reading and I got a package in the evening. It had 3 new fitbit bands, a headset (I didn't have one and it's nice for gaming and music) and 6 canvas prints with dinosaurs that I adore. I will be getting frames for them soon.
The freezer area above my fridge had way too much ice on the walls and ceilings so I spent a few minutes hacking away at it with a blunt knife. It came out pretty easily thankfully and it freed up a lot of space so that was nice. I went to bed on time, but my leg was really hurting. Even though it is a 12+ year old injury, sometimes it is still sore. I just couldn't find a comfortable position since the pain was constant so it took a while to fall asleep.
I am glad we had rain and a small break from the heat yesterday though. I even had some tea! I miss tea. The next four days are going to be hot again, but after that, it is finally time for fall weather. I can't wait. Happy Thursday everyone6 -
Good morning everyone,
It's about 330am, and I couldn't get back to sleep after my son woke me up (he's fast asleep now on the couch now), so I thought I would stop in here to say hi and maybe ramble a bit.
Overall, I've been doing pretty well. I still have the fresh motivation pushing me. I'm sure it won't last, but I'm going to get all that I can out of it while it's here.
I've been doing well at getting my running in. I've been going to the gym at night consistently since Saturday. It seems to be coming back pretty fast. When I did my first run on Saturday, I struggled a little doing one mile at a slow pace. Last night, I did 2 miles at a slow pace, but it didn't seem to be such a struggle. I know I'll have to work to get back to where I was, but I'm hoping it'll go a bit quicker this time around.
I've also been trying to get small walks in. The weather is still too hot to do any real walking, but I have been trying to squeeze in what I can. I take my boys for a short "night-night walk" before their bedtime. We also go up to the gas station a short walk down the road and get a drink or something in the morning if it's not too hot. And sometimes we just go to Walmart or target and wonder around a bit.
Food has also been going well. I've been pre logging my food (something I've never done), which seems to help. I've made my calorie goals most days.
The tl;dr version is I'm off to a good start and hoping the 'newbie' motivation will last long enough for my changes to become habit.
I hope you all have a good day.

I haven't set any Sept goals so since it's still the beg of the month I thought I'd do some. But first maybe I'll recap my Aug goals to see how things went.
1. Track daily - I believe I met this goal, with at most 1-2 days not well tracked
2. Don't lose control over diet during vacation - I had 2 mini getaways/car trips during Aug and while I did eat higher calorie foods, it was in a much more reasonable manner than my usual junk food filled trips. On one gas station fill up I desperately wanted to grab a bag of chips but decided to try to meat stick snacks. Both times we were at a coffee shop I wanted some mocha frappy whippy concoction, but opted for a wacky black espresso orange juice combo, and then a plain americano and a savoury food item instead. Pounding sugar just because "I'm on vacation" is really something I'm trying to change.
3. Stay within calorie deficit. Given my calorie inputs into MFP and my target probably have major inaccuracies, all I can go with here is did I lose weight? Yes I lost 2.8 lbs in Aug, which is ever so slightly above my 0.5 lb/week goal that I've set my calories to.
So 2 vacations plus I got c*vid during the month, still ended up ok from a food/weight perspective.
So for Sept
1. Goal is to track, maintain deficit Week 1 and 4. Week 2 is my milestone week where I'll be on a work trip eating hotel and restaurant food for 4 days straight so I'm using that and Week 3 as a maintenance break. I'll be on week 14/15 of this mini weight loss journey during those weeks and i've heard it's good to build in a break so this is a good time for it.
2. Goal for hotel week - Order a healthy dinner with no deep fried foods. Focus on something high protein. Maybe I'll take pics of what I ended up ordering!
3. I've never set exercise goals for myself. Looking back at my Strava I logged 14 activities in Aug and 19 in July. I think the easiest goal is to commit to 1 run and 1 bike per week. And I will try to use the hotel gym once. I think that's the most I will commit to.
@Pupowl It's nice to see you on a streak of successful days! I find the longer my streak is, the more motivated I get to stay on it.
also welcome new group members, i think i saw one of you is a runner - i love running too! best of luck on your journeys this month.4 -

Today's steps won't be as great. Today is the first day in 9 months that I have Had a day to myself. I have an autistic son and mainstream school is rough for him. Last year he went to high school and it did not go well. He was bullied non stop, jumped once, almost jumped a 2nd time but his older brothers friends stepped in and stopped it. So he was home schooled. They opened a new charter school this year that is much smaller and suppose to be a diffrent way of learning. I'm hopeful he will thrive there. His little brother was invited to the school and i was able to get both boys in there. So today I am spending time alone since I finally have a day off, and cleaning the house.7 -

My goals this month are to:
A- Adopt a new daily habit: measure portions
B - Move more: extend my run/walk time to a full hour minimum which approximates 10k steps
C- Be aware of my consumption: keep to 1200 calories daily for at least 6 days a week.
D - Stress less: add a yoga gym class to my weekly routine, read, nap, or do something to relax.
Today ran/walked 4 miles in 1 hour. Haven't overeaten. Measured my popcorn. Took a nap to reduce stress.2 -
@ganival Thank you, momentum helps a lot for sure! Looks like you are doing really good too.
@LaurieWrobo So sorry to hear that, take care3 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. Another good day yesterday which started with a walk in the morning. The sun showed up pretty late into my walk and it was also windy so the heat wasn't too bad at all. I am only walking around 65 minutes for now, but next week when the temperature drops, I plan to go longer again.
I got a package with prints of some of my favourite pictures. I had a photowall two houses ago and I wanted to do that again. This time they will end up in the staircase though. It is a really boring white, big empty space that could do with something fun. I want to repaint the wall first because it doesn't look very clean. I will do that next week when it is cooler as well. I didn't count the pictures I got printed. Turns out there are 60, oops. Not sure they will all fit in the staircase, but I am sure I can find a spot for them all. I also got the new pump for the water fountain. Tinus doesn't drink much from a plain bowl so I was happy to get that sorted again.
I got my gym rings workout done and I did some cleaning in the livingroom. Happy Friday everyone7 -

D27/75 have had a good couple of days and hope I can sustain it through the weekend. I'm going to lunch with a good friend I haven't seen in a few months, not sure where so don't know the menu to plan ahead. The tomorrow my husband and I are going shopping for fixtures for the bathroom repair and remodel at our retirement house. That will be an all day thing as we have to go about an hour away to get to the stores. We live on a peninsula and the mall, etc is an hour away. 😕 But there's a ton of restaurants up there that I know I can do ok at. Anywho, have a great day everyone! ☺️8 -
