    Low step day. I was cat sitting a kitten that was brought into my work Sunday by someone whom had no clue how to care for it, it's a long story, but my friend ended up taking her in and so I watched her yesterday while my friend was at work. The kitten is only 2 or 3 weeks old.

    That’s an excellent list, @Cyncia! I thought about suggesting Learning something new’ but that’s probably part of ‘Creativity.’

    Recently, I read that consistent sleep patterns lead to higher energy levels and may help us live longer. The article said it’s important to find the number of sleep hours that are right for each individual, and consistent wake/sleep times are more important than a particular number of hours in bed.

    @Zaxa2021 - The sleep deprivation experienced by care providers - most often mothers - are the worst during those infant and toddlers years. I hope you can get some support from your family and close friends. Sleeping whenever the children are sleeping is more important than keeping up with household chores, in my opinion. Hang in there!

    Sometimes I get energy from volunteering or helping others, but boundaries are essential to get the right balance. The need to narrow or expand our boundaries can differ based on temperament, timing, and other contextual circumstances, I think. For example, I donated blood today, which felt rewarding but may also require a bit of rest. So, I guess there’s a physical and mental/ emotional aspect for me when I think about how to address my energy needs.

    Mostly, reducing stress, and avoiding energy-sapping people helps me! — Good prompt to think about! 🙏🏼

    While in college a mere ~50 years ago, I had a physiology professor who had done sleep research, and he said the same thing. Your body adapts to your sleep pattern and attempts to spread REM sleep throughout your time sleeping, including during your last hour of sleep. So interrupting your sleep can result in a lack of adequate REM sleep. Short "power" naps (~20 minutes) can be very beneficial.

    Good morning Shape Shifters. I got dressed in my walking outfit again, but it looked really wet outside and I didn't trust the way the clouds looked. It was also really cold again so getting rained on would suck. I decided to be safe and did a workout out home. I was a little bummed about it since walking is a lot more fun, but it was the right call since it did rain. After my shower and a walk with Tinus, I went to the grocery store for some food and things I need for my mom next week that were currently on sale. The vegan pizzas I like were 3 for 6,50 this week when they normally cost over 4 euros each, so I considered getting them. But I like what I eat now and it works, so I thought it best not to add pizza into the mix which might trigger other cravings. At the exit they had a big box of mandarins with a note saying you could grab one for free to avoid food waste. That was pretty nice. I like fruit, but it is expensive and annoying to eat (for me anyway) so I mostly stick to little fruit pouches for the convenience. It was nice to have some fresh fruit for a change; it was very sweet! I did my gym rings workout before lunch. The rest of the day was boring. Happy Saturday everyone. <3

    @PatriceFitnessPal

    Hi - I think learning is a great addition to the energy giver list depending on the individual. Need to consider how each person fuels their different energy batteries.

    Sleep hygiene is so important to our health. Thank you for sharing the highlights of the article you read.

    Volunteering or helping others can be energizing as well - I think it goes back to which energy battery do we need to fill and are we finding balance.

    September goals update
    1 Log everything. I have continued to prelog, I like having an overview that allows me to make adjustments and better choices. 🙂
    2 Still no Halloween candy.😇
    3 I didn’t attend an exercise class in person this week😕. Thanks to @Cyncia85 ’s timely post about energy givers I didn’t fall into my usual doom loop and reminded myself that I did walk outside 3 times this week. I am trying to get better at “accentuate the positive eliminate the negative”
    4 Football eating. I had 1/6 a pizza filled rest of plate with veg. Last year it would have been 1/2 of the pizza topped with a couple handfuls of additional shredded cheddar cheese, plus a generous sprinkling of parmigiana. Counting it as a win and feel confident I can repeat for the rest of the season. I froze the rest of the pizza in pre portioned baggies.🤗

    Thank you so much for sharing that my post helped you <3
    I am grateful my post helped your mindset. I understand doom loops. Practicing gratitude and self compassion are essential to our lens/reality and mindset.
