Today was a better day for me than yesterday. Wednesdays, I normally do water aerobics at 9am and strength/cardio at 11:30am. I set out to get a ride in prior to water aerobics, but an unplanned detour resulted in an 11-mile ride and left no time to get to my 9am class. So, I switched to the 6:15pm class instead. I walked to and from the gym for the strength/cardio class. The walk there was quite nice - cool, breezy, overcast -- like @Pupowl, I like it cool, preferably under 70℉. But the walk back home was warmer and slightly muggy. Since I got enough steps in, I decided to skip water aerobics today.

Good morning Shape Shifters. I biked to a different area of the national park yesterday morning a little further away from home. It was a lovely cloudy morning and for me the perfect temperature. Not even 5 minutes into my walk, I already had to climb over a fallen tree and it didn't get any better from that point. I think during my walk I had to navigate around/over/under at least 15 trees that were blocking the trail. One little section of forest was completely closed off with tape because it was not passable at all. There was a crew actively cutting trees, but they still have a lot of work left. I will be avoiding this specific area for a while because it started to feel more like an obstacle course than a walk. It is a great area with 3 walks, but thankfully there are still plenty of others left to do. No newts, mushrooms or pretty feathers this time.
After a shower and breakfast I went to get some groceries. I needed a lot because of my moms visit and I didn't think I could get it all in one trip with my bike so I got most of it yesterday and I will get the rest in a little bit.
When I was in the backyard my neighbour came over to talk. Asking if I was cool with putting in a new fence and splitting the cost. Yes please! The fence is falling apart and an absolute disaster. I have been meaning to ask him about it for a while, but anxiety (and my neighbour is a bit weird), so I am glad he brought it up. He has a friend who will remove the old fence and will help place the new one so I don't have to do anything though I did tell him to let me know if I can help in any way.
I got the last bit of cleaning done: vacuumed and mopped downstairs, removed all the cobwebs I could find in the entire house, did the dishes, cleaned the toilet and did some laundry so all my walking clothes are ready to go. My legs were a bit tired at the end of the day which wasn't surprising. I had a relaxing evening and went to bed early. Happy Thursday everyone.

I was pretty tired yesterday, so I decided to skip the treadmill walk/run. I also didn't go for much of an intentional walk earlier in the day. I could say it was because we were busy and had to get out of the house for an appointment, but I really could have squeezed at least a shorter one in some in the day if I tried.
I still have to be a little conscious of the heat, but it's cooled down enough that it's a little more possible to get outside at some point.4 -

I've been sitting quite a bit more recently with back to school plus work. This weigh-in is helpful in that it reminds me to make the time to get moving and stay hydrated. If I fall into the habit of sitting and working at the desk all day, the weight will continue to gain and my overall health will take a hit. Taking a couple 20 minute breaks to walk or workout will be valuable for my mental, emotional, and physical health.8 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. I had a pretty relaxing morning. Cleaned up some last things in the living room, got groceries and did my gym rings workout. I was a bit late with breakfast and when I was finished my bread, my mom already arrived. She got me 3 bags with macadamia nuts which was really sweet. I told her before they are my favourite, but too expensive so I never buy them.
After my mom had lunch, we went for a walk. While she is better, so is still a bit tired. I figured we would go for 1,5 hours, but I underestimated the walk and it ended up being an hour and 50 minutes. Thankfully my mom was fine with that too, we just need to take it a bit slow. She took a picture of me when I was petting a cute pony and I looked so fat in it. I am really bummed about how much I have set myself back with 3 months of overeating. I just deleted the picture again, I couldn't stand to look at it. Since we walked around midday, it was sunny and too warm for me. I got double the zone minutes I normally get and I was pretty tired. The rest of the day we relaxed, talked and played some games.
We went to bed early and then got woken up at 1:30 by the smoke alarm right outside our bedrooms. Really annoying. I checked the whole house, but there was nothing wrong and the second smoke alarm downstairs never gave a peep. It was hard to fall asleep again after that. Even though I didn't think anything was wrong, having a fire in the house is one of my worst fears and it took me an hour before I could sleep again. And then at 6:35 the dang thing went off again. It seemed useless to go back to sleep after that, so I just got dressed, grabbed a stool and removed the whole thing. These alarms are only a few months old and they have a 10 year long battery in them. The guy who came to check on the CV said it would be best to replace my other smoke alarms since these were good and trustworthy. I kept the old ones though, so I just put one of those back. I will probably contact them later and maybe get a replacement for the one giving false alarms. It really is a horrendous noise that I don't want to hear unless my house is actually on fire. So even though we went to bed on time, sleep was not the best. Happy Friday everyone.7 -

D41/75 still hanging in there. I had a good week this week, always better when In not stuck in a conference room all day. Wednesday is my big meeting day, usually 3 or 4 since it's the only day that many of us are in the office. Luckily I can walk around the building between them and get the blood flowing. Have a great day everyone!7 -

Was a busy week with work and social/kids/volunteer activities. My nutrition and exercise were pretty good all week, except I had a slip last night. Got into some dark chocolate covered blueberry flavoured treats and couldn't stop myself....agh!
NSV - I've been more consistent with exercise over the past three weeks and was feeling in better shape for my hockey game this week. Hockey coaching starts back up this weekend, so I'll get in two hours of exercise on ice with the kids. I'm looking forward to that!
The weather is lovely today and I'm planning to head out on a bike ride at lunch. Have a great weekend all!5 -
Hi All - I took PTO today to take Hazel to the vet for her annual shots. I need to get caught up on my studies and assignments. Also going to hit the trail and do chores.
Wishing you all a fantastic day of hydration and movement! 💪

Sorry for missing last week, I was traveling. While my training is back on track, my diet hasn't been. I'm just focusing on logging everything I eat with no judgement, then I'll work on tightening up my diet.5 -

I feel like I'm doing everything 'right'. I've been tracking calories, even taking out the dreaded food scale. I've also upped my exercise a bit, walking more and doing more on the treadmill. I'm happy to see some results on the scale.6 -

Finally back to my weight just prior to going on my bacon-powered work trip last week. Was diligent with tracking, not to be mistaken with accuracy however. Like tonight we ordered sushi and I ate a very reasonable amount but have no idea on calories so just found an entry for "california roll" and plugged it in, even tho I didn't exactly have that flavour. Would love to hear if anyone has tips for entering home cooking or takeout meals into MFP. While it would be easier for tracking, I just refuse to eat a ton of packaged foods or only eat from chains that post their nutrition.
My mini goal here is to shed 4 pounds and drop into the 160's. That should take 8 weeks or slightly less.
Happy weekend and congrats to everyone who is crushing your goals!7 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. I went on another walk with my mom. We took it slow, but ended up walking more than I expected again. We were out so long that my favourite forest restaurant was already open when we passed it on the way home, so we decided to stop there for some late breakfast/early lunch. My mom had a pancake and I had the vegan avocadoburger. It was nice to have a longer break there since we were both a little tired. From the restaurant it was 30 minutes of walking left until we were home. I already had 18.000 steps when we got back, so it ended up being a pretty high step day. We relaxed most of the afternoon.
A little before 16:00 we walked to the gift shop. My mom decided to get the same housesocks that I got but in a pretty green. She also picked up a couple of cards and I got a small tray/plate with a kitty on it. The rest of the day was spent playing some word games, solving 9 and 10 star sudokus together and in the evening we played Rummikub. We went to bed early and I got a much better sleep without a screaming smoke alarm. Happy Saturday everyone5 -

I'm feeling good about this. It's a slow process but at least I'm finally seeing good results again. I have been at a stand still for so long. Just couldn't shake out those 200's. I had gotten down to 169 once, but then Covid-19 hit and I worked crazy hours. Not eating right and gained weight back. Live and learn.

@ganival with counting calories and nutrients from home cooking, I often rely on recipes that already have the counts provided. I avoid recipes that don't come with the calorie data I need. I like and use the site Once Upon A Chef. Her recipes are really good. I can select what to make based on the calories displayed. This is the type of data provided for a smoked chickpea, lentil, and vegetable soup I want to make:
Nutrition Information
Per serving (6 servings)Calories: 222kcal
Carbohydrates: 32g
Protein: 10g
Fat: 7g
Saturated Fat: 1g
Sodium: 622mg
Fiber: 10g
Sugar: 7g
Takeout: that is a disaster for me. I just try to avoid knowing this tends to be 1,000 calories +.3
