Yesterday was a pretty good day. We had to get out of the house pretty early, so we didn't get in the morning walk. We did go for a walk in the afternoon, but it was a little warmer outside than I would like to take the boys out in, so I cut it a bit short. We did our night-night walk, and then I hit the gym. I ran 2 miles at a faster pace than I usually do, so I was quite pleased with it.
Food was okay, with the exception of the ice cream I stress ate at nap time 😞 The boys were really cranky in the morning and we still had ice cream from when my husband ordered it the other night, so the near unavailable happened. But at least it's gone now. Lunch and dinner were good, though, and I avoided snacking.5 -

I do so well when I am able to eat at home. I spent the last two days/nights at my daughter's. I didn't eat horribly, but the scale is up. As usual when I'm away. It is frustrating, but I know that the ups and downs are normal. I was two whole pounds less in the days before I left to go to my daughter's.
It is my mindset, too. When I go to my dad's house or to my daughter's house, I just want to eat!!! They have snacks that I do not keep here. This is a journey, and sometimes I do better, but sometimes I just go crazy eating all of the different goodies! I feel so out of control when I'm around the snacks.3 -

@Cyncia85 - Congratulations on your exam! You worked hard to prepare and your effort paid off. I hope the weather cooperates so you can enjoy your special time to relax after meeting your History assignment deadline tonight!
I wasn’t planning a fall hike but I like the idea so now you’ve got me thinking about how I might fit one into my schedule. I’m planning to drive to a boathouse that is about 35 minutes from my house tomorrow morning and there’s lots of nice foliage there so it will be nice sculling there. We race on that course November 4th, but I’ll be (sweep) rowing with seven other people and a coxswain then.
I’ve been doing some decluttering this weekend. It’s slow progress, but it’s still progress! It really was time to give away the laminated multiplication table placemat and study cards since my youngest son will soon turn 23. 🙄
Thank you @PatriceFitnessPal

My last steps said 10/3 but was meant to say 10/13. Oops! So, I upped the dosage of my seizure med on Monday (with the doctor's approval) and am doing much better, as evidenced by the fact my steps were higher yesterday. Weight is still hiking, yay, but I think that's more because I've been eating a bit more junk food than usual. (My son is visiting me.) I had a much healthier food day yesterday, so hopefully things will get back on track with more movement and better eating.globalhiker wrote: »@sunshinezombiegirl1 is there a safer indoor activity you can do? Hope this passes for you even temporarily. I don't have epilepsy but spent 6 months of my life with vasovagal syncope and seizures unable to drive or go to work and randomly passing out from an affected nerve. My exercise was in front of the tv where I stayed very close to the couch in case I felt a blackout event coming on. Specialists thought I cought a virus or a fungus from the soils in Northern California forests where I was hiking that infected my nervous system and thankfully it went away. It did super suck to not be able to do normal things and at that time my focus was on trying to stay safe and not return to the ER.
Wish better health for you and sending strength your way!

Today was a pretty good day. I went for a longer walk today, as well as a shorter one. I also went to the gym and ran a couple of miles, as well as some walking.
I also tracked most of my food. My downfall has been crackers. My sons are constantly asking for them. I'm having a hard time resisting eating a handful with them. I log a couple of servings, but I have no idea how accurate that is. I'm sure it adds up to something significant.
So my goal for tomorrow is no crackers.

Good morning Shape Shifters. I haven't been around much here lately and I am sorry about that. I just feel like I don't have much to say. I need some time to adjust to the darker mornings, which I love, but it makes me very hermit like and I haven't wanted to leave the house to go for walks at all. I haven't been lazy either though! I have been doing 30-60 minute cardio workouts at home with youtube videos (my fav channel is https://www.youtube.com/@ImprovedHealth ). It is a lot harder to get high steps with a workout versus a walk. My goal is 12k which is easy for me, but for some reason I always feel like that is not enough and that is a little annoying. Anyway, I am sure the walks will start up again soon. Until then, home workouts it is.
My food has also been on track again for the past week or so. I really, really wanted to be under 200lbs when I rejoined the regular team in November, but I am 99.9% sure that ship has sailed. I will weigh in again on Sunday for the first time since the start of June and I suspect I set myself back 30+ pounds. It is absolutely horrendous.
I was mainly eating meal bars the first few days because I find them helpful to reset cravings and they let me avoid the grocery store for a while. I don't mind eating them, they do a really good job of filling me up, but it is obviously not my favourite food. Yesterday I started eating 'normal' food and cooking again. The meal bars is not something I can keep up for the rest of my life. I think it is really important when trying to lose weight that your diet is something you can do long term. Otherwise you just fall back to your old way of eating when you are done losing which is obviously bad. Cooking is still a big challenge for me, but I am hoping that it will get easier the longer I manage to do it. I love eating the food I cook; it's everything else I hate about it, lol. But yeah, a warm meal in the evening is really nice, especially now that it is getting colder. It is worth the effort.
Anyway, just wanted to post a little update. Once I am back on the regular team, I will likely be posting daily again. Hope you are all doing well. Happy Friday everyone8 -

I’m sorry to hear you were displaced by the storm but I’m glad you are safe. It was smart to evacuate!
My uncle lives about a 10 minute bike ride from Nokomis Beach so he had to leave his house, too. His power is back and the foundation is in good shape but the shade structure over his patio got destroyed. Overall, he was very fortunate, even though the insurance company won’t pay for him to rebuild the outdoor structure attached to his house. He’s returning on Monday to start cleaning up.
My aunt lives in Ft. Meyer and had to shelter in her closet for hours because of the tornadoes. She knows she lost some roof tiles but it will take some time for her community to assess the damage.
I hope you get good news about your house and you can move back soon. I’m sending positive thoughts to you and your community! 💕💕💕
Thank you for your kind words and I’m thankful to hear your aunt and uncle are safe. Our access road will be be under water for weeks, but we are so thankful we have a good place to stay! I’m even getting some doggie love from our son’s housemate’s beautiful dog 💙

Last night, I was thinking about skipping the pickup soccer games I play on Thursday nights with a group of women of all ages. I was behind on the work I had scheduled for the week, but I didn’t want to miss the casual - and fun - opportunity because I’ll be in Boston next week and unable to make it. I’m glad I went last night, but I better dig into work now. My son is arriving for a visit late tonight through early Monday so I want to make sure I’m done with my tasks and have time to cook something for him tonight. One of his close friends is getting married on Sunday. Best wishes ShapeShifters!7 -

Little since it was a driving day and had all day rain so we couldn't do out planned midday hike. Rain today again but hoping we can sneak in 2 hrs of moving. No gym or indoor mall in this town we are visiting. Worst case, I will have to do jumping jacks in our tiny rental.6 -

@Tomsgal1985 - It sounds like you’re making the best of a very difficult situation, enjoying your son and the therapeutic qualities of the beautiful, sweet dog. I hope the access road opens soon, before the weather gets colder, and you can build a comfortable routine until then. 🕊️2

I ended up being sick yesterday with a migraine, body aches and just overall feeling crappy so my food choices were not great I think it's from the emotional upheaval with my son's wedding, 2 receptions and my mom's condition and funeral service from the past 2 months where my body just let go
Feeling better today so hopefully that's done and I can finally relax10 -

My weight was around 214 for most of this week, but not this morning!
My nutrition, sleep and exercise were all better this week. I had a couple of tough and exhausting hockey games - we played some higher division teams. Came out with a tie and a loss. It's part of division balancing at the beginning of the season and hopefully at least one of them will move back to the next higher division.
I've been wanting to get back to adding in a couple workouts a week involving weights. I was planning to do this after work yesterday, but my dog was so full of beans that she really needed a run, so out we went and that was my workout! I had a lot of stress pent up from work, so it was helpful to run it off and I felt much better after.
Have a great weekend everyone!
