I was less grumpy about my lean protein and veggies this week. I made a new clean salad dressing- it's delish. I found some ways to eat the same food as my family- which made dinner easier, and we tried some new ways of cooking chicken breast.

I've lost 3.1 pounds since I started at the beginning of Oct. Prior to this, my YTD weight loss was 5 pounds.
Happy Dance!5 -
@morenin That's great that it was just water weight. I hope you get your xray results soon. That's ridiculous it's taking so long. Good for you for joining that challenge, that's great that you will do something.
@TeresaW2024 Ah I see. Thank you! It is going to be really hard, the whole process, but I can do it! Interesting about the optometrist. I would love to see your new glasses/sunglasses! I pay an insane amount for my glasses, too, but it's because I want something unique and I pay what I pay to be stylish. Have a great day!
@askewcr Congrats! Way to go.
@laurelfit57 Yes, I believe it. Yes and I figure I'll be eating a lot less so I will save money that way! Thank you for your support. I'm glad you came prepared, it sounds like it was worth preparing!
@DrewsAnna that looks really good.
@Cornanda Congrats on the loss! I'm glad you are getting used to (?) the lean protein and veg routine. That vinaigrette looks like the one I make except I add a tsp of honey and some dried Italian seasoning. It's really good. Thanks for sharing. You should be very proud of your progress, you are doing great!
Hi all. My BFF is coming today for the weekend from Colorado. We've been best friends since we were 8. I can't wait! We are going shopping during the day and then to Little Italy tonight for dinner.

@baodell17724 Congrats on the loss!
Hi all. It's been fun so far with my BFF. She didn't get much sleep Thursday night so we didn't do too much yesterday. We went to breakfast at a cafe on the beach and sat and ate our breakfast facing the ocean, which was nice. We went for a sparkling lavender lemonade (non-alcoholic) after that at one of my favorite coffee shops. Yes, it is as refreshing as it sounds. It was hot yesterday, in the high 70s to mid 80s but it felt really hot because the sun was out. We went to the mall for a little bit but then she needed a nap so I dropped her off. Our dinner in Little Italy was delicious and we had fun walking around and people watching. Little Italy gets really busy on the weekends. Today, we are going for breakfast, a book fair, more shopping, and then going out tonight for Halloween. There is a group of four of us who are dressing up as Winnie the Pooh (DH), Eeyore (me), Tigger (my SIL) and Piglet (my friend).

Pumpkin Tomato Soup
Ingredients
1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
4 cup low-sodium chicken broth (I like Pacific, which is only 50mg sodium per cup)
1 (15-oz.) can pure pumpkin puree
1/3 cup grated Parmesan
3/4 tsp Kosher salt (you can reduce for lower sodium)
3 Tbsp heavy cream
Chopped fresh basil leaves, for serving
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook, stirring, until garlic is fragrant and light golden, about 1 minute.
Add tomato paste and cook, stirring, until lightly toasted, about 1 minute more. Add broth, pumpkin puree, Parmesan, and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring occasionally, until soup is slightly thickened and flavors are melded, about 5 minutes. Stir in cream. Sprinkle with basil.2 -

@Cornanda yay you!!! Congrats on the loss!!! I make that dressing as well, I love it :-). I actually put in more Dijon than is called for, I just like the extra kick.
@trooworld I am so happy for you that your BFF is here for the weekend! It sounds like you have a jampacked weekend going on! So much fun, you might need a nap after the weekend is over :-).
@Digger61 thank you so much for sharing your story. Very motivating!
@Micaroo4 that's great you are going to be our team motivator. I feel like you already were, now it's just official😊
Did you make those pumpkins? They are fabulous! That soup sounds delicious.
Now I am officially ready for winter, all the summer things are put away and winter things are brought out :-). I did some heavy lifting over the last couple of days and my back was done. I came in my house and splayed out on the living room floor, on my back, closed my eyes and just relaxed. I could hear the dogs playing tug beside me and I was just thinking how grateful I was that they could now entertain themselves and play together. Then BAM!! Ty took her little butt and sat right on my face. Thank heavens she is in heat and is wearing an LBD (little black diaper)🤣🤣🤣. That got me to open my eyes in a hurry lol. Busy day tomorrow, I am going to take that core balance and stretch class at the gym in the morning, then I am taking Ty swimming and then my whole family is going to my daughter and son-in-law's for potluck dinner!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend2 -

What is your favorite thing to do with your free time? Why?
I'm single and retired, so free time is ALL the time, now! But to answer your question: Websurf; cardio peddling; read (ancient civilizations and mythology, self-help, spirituality, health and fitness); learning Spanish; watch Netflix and BritBox... and I tutor middle-school students online through "Learn To Be".

@digger61- Thanks for sharing your story. I enjoyed it. Hope the liver transplant can be done soon.
@micaroo4 - THANK YOU for stepping up. Love the pumpkins!
@laurelfit57 - Ty is so funny and Little black diaper really cracked me up.
Quiet weekend here. DD is going away for a few days and I will be watching her cat. Did some prep for the cat space. My mums from last weekend are planted and I'm enjoying them. DS scored free tickets for Jaguars/Packers today- we are Packer fans. He asked DH to go with him, so they should have a nice day together.

@Digger61, thank you for being our spotlight person this month! I respect how you stick to your low-carb/protein goals in spite of spending so much time in your truck. I’m sure it would be easier, but at times, it would be tempting to stop at a truck stop and fill up on junk food. Keep up the great work!
@micaroo4 Thank you so much for stepping up to be our new motivator! You will do a fantastic job!
@trooworld How awesome that you are having such a good time with your BFF. We need to see the pic of you all dressed up!
@laurelfit57 HaHa that story of Ty sitting on your face is hilarious! I’m sure you jumped up in hurry!
Good morning! Our ladies' tea yesterday was so lovely, and I’m giving huge props to our pastor for how he set this all up for the ladies in our church. The room was decorated beautifully, with the tables all decorated with members' china. The men were in dress pants and white shirts and were excellent waiters. We had live music and a lovely woman who talked to us about the trials of life and how God is always with us no matter what life throws at us. Today, we have our pastor's appreciation, and we will present the pastor with a gift basket full of stuff for him, his wife, and their sweet autistic son. I think the timing is perfect!
What is your favorite thing to do with your free time? Why?
Everyone knows my love for the jigsaw puzzle! I have always liked doing them, but my passion took off during Covid to pass the time since I wasn't going into the office every day. I rarely do anything under 2000 pieces and have done two 5000-piece puzzles that were awesome and still in my collection to be done again one day. I’m home a lot these days, taking care of my husband and doing puzzles to help pass the time while I watch TV or listen to a podcast helps keep me sane.
