Birthing My New Life

I was at church the other day and the sermon was about how Jesus compared our Christian struggle to the birth process. I began to think more deeply, not just about my moral struggles, but about my psychological physical struggle as well with this weight loss in particular. The point of inception is so wonderful, the beginning of creating a new life, when you find out you are pregnant, when you have so longed to be. Making the decision to begin again this weight loss journey now at 50 and over 300 pounds was a happy determined one. Carrying a child to term, I remember how uncomfortable it was, how tired I felt, excited for it to be over and embrace the new life, but also so done with the journey wanting it to be over. That is how it is now too. It's difficult carrying this new life (healthy lifestyle) to term. So much to learn and do and practice. Giving birth is so painful and hard. Giving birth to this new life, this new person I want to be, is painful and hard. But as Jesus said, "Joy comes in the morning. When the success comes. The new baby as it were. My new life and new health comes, how wonderful will that moment be. It will all be worth it. It will be worth all of the pain and sacrifice.
