Shelley, Ronan just pushes all the buttons he can reach. EGADS, MAN!
Kathy, hope your knees are feeling better. That's one reason I use a lot of Aspercreme!!
We had Collin this morning and Ronan this afternoon. Collin and I did not go for a walk. He watched Paw Patrol w/Grandpa. I had my trainer for a 60 min workout and now I'm reading.

Karen my heart breaks for you all. I admit to not knowing much on treatment for Parkinson's. I am hoping that some breakthrough is out there now. Hugs

Kathy you are doing wonderful. Take care of your knees.

I did go to Zumba tonight. I really enjoyed it.

Up very early here this morning about 3:30. My mind is all over the place of course. Very difficult night with telling Bella and Jim having a good cry. Important to get those feelings out.

My oldest cat Sebastian also had dental surgery on Tuesday. Poor kitty has terrible teeth. He has a very severe under bite and his mouth just doesn't work correctly. We thought he only had two teeth left which he was going to get out. He got four teeth removed but in reality still has 11 little cat teeth somewhere in his mouth. You can't see any of them. Sebastian is my spirit animal I swear. He's been through a lot with me. Have to separate him from the other two cats because our youngest cat Anakin thanks Sebastian is a foreign cat and really running after him. Boy there's a lot going on right now.

I leave on Tuesday afternoon friendship to Virginia through Thursday for work. It's actually a conference for our women's network which I think will be really rejuvenating.

We are planning on going to the movies this afternoon. I think it'll be a nice distraction for everyone. And it's tooncold to do anything else!

Yesterday was a 45 minute in door walking workout. An oldie Leslie Sansone. Also a core workout.

Karen, It must be so frightening what you'all are going through.

A friend of mine with PD was shaking badly (and could barely stand) when he had DBS (Deep brain Stimulation) surgery. They shaved parts of his head to implant the electrodes, so it looked goofy - but it was a happy goofy; because the improvement was dramatic, from crippled to strong and upright.

There are so many promising new breakthroughs in Parkinson treatments, I hope Jim finds loads of excellent options.

Prayers for life to get better again.
    Paula

pps - Would it be helpful if there were any support groups or chat groups you could join where other PD families share their knowledge and experiences?

I went to an emergency group training yesterday and there was no parking nearby. So I had to walk from several blocks away (rushing to be on time) and both my outashape legs developed shin splints today. Also, having substituted coffee for most of my food (it was early & near a Peet's & <3 coffee) - my blood is now at 98% caffeine - and triggering cramps.

That's why I'ma gonna stay home to "coddle my hobble" and detox. Since retirement provides the luxury of taking time off when the body says ouch, I get to be a very happy-lucky-lazy rehydrating, water-swilling couch potato today. :drinker:

    Hugs all, :flowerforyou:

Paula, what is your emergency group training???
The wind is fierce and cold!! I went out in it anyway. Had to take my jacket off going to the Ruins but had to put it back on coming home. UGH!! Did 5.19 miles in 99 mins. So windy!
Ronan came over for a couple of hours while Sara went to singing practice with her group.
I'm going to read and drink coffee.

Chris, It's called CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) - they're trained volunteers who help in case of emergencies. It turned out I'd been referred to this one by mistake; they're a different district than me; however it was still interesting. They had an open forum for people to share success stories, which was a treat. Because these are the people who came to my house in the landslide and moved all my stuff out. So I was able to thank them in person. Felt good.

Paula as always I love how you inspire us. Great information and ideas for Karen. And you should have been a writer. Love how you make mundane things so interesting.

Karen I think Paula is onto something. Check into support groups. They can provide support.

Chris so good of Sara and her group. Those places are probably lonely.

Kathy I did zumba on Friday. It was fun. Only 2 of us were there. Felt like I was having a private class!

Cleaned tanks yesterday. Tried out my new phosphate and nitrate checkers. Phosphates read at .05 Way to low. Nitrates were at ZERO! Well dang. Still dosing both into my tank. Moved 2 fish into the display tank. Hopefully they settle in and do well. One is my Pearly Jawfish. Such a pretty little fish.

Watched the game today. So close. Really wanted to see the Bills win.

Karen by the way. My kitty has bad teeth also. Seems she is having to go to her dentist as often as I go to mine.

    Hi ladies,

Did a ton of crying this weekend. Unfortunately it did not translate to the scale lol :-) but it didn't feel really good.

We go back to the neurologist tomorrow to learn about next steps.

Paula - to your point I have started to research support groups and other groups locally that can help us navigate this. I found a wonderful Facebook group that has such amazing and generous people. I've already learned a ton about what others through and how they can live effectively with PD. I will keep learning ;)

I did go to yoga yesterday it was a really difficult workout which felt great. Could have been because I was crying most of the time lol :-) there's something about the yoga mat that always puts up the water works for me.

In the office today but I'm traveling to Virginia tomorrow afternoon through Thursday for a women's network conference for our company. With all of the DEI initiatives being canceled at many companies, I'm really glad that my company still sponsors ours. We are a French company but are based in the US. The French have no tolerance for cancelling diversity programs, so I am grateful.

Thank you all for your support. I really appreciate it!

We had Collin Duty this morning. He and I did 2.26 miles in 59 mins this morning in the freezing wind! Well,, one direction was freezing wind, the other direction was warm sunshine!! We went looking for the garbage trucks. We found one but lost him when he turned the corner...we were not close enough...no idea where he went!!
    I met w/my trainer for a 60 min workout.
Pat p/u Ronan from school and they are in the middle of a battle then will be doing homework. Just found out they both love bell peppers. I just cut up an orange one and they both had a piece!! I'm going to eat the orange bell pepper, drink coffee and read.
    Later, my friends.

Karen you have a truly wonderful company. We are here for you. Let us know if you find the right support group for you. Hugs

Chris I think bell peppers are pretty. But other than that. Nope

Tore out most of the old carpet in our living room. It was disgusting. Sure am glad we put waterproof pad underneath the carpet. Saved our flooring. Our old dogs had a few accidents. And because of the old tank we couldn't change it. New carpet should be installed Friday.

Shelley, I cook with all the colors but I really like to eat the red and orange ones while I read. Better than peppermint or grahams.
We had Collin and Bean this morning. SIL is taking a biology class Tues & Thurs, so it's best we have the pup. Then I put the house together for our housekeeper. Pat went and p/u Ronan from school and when they got home I was ready to put on my shoes and head to Lauren Park. 5.03 miles in 96 mins. Cool breeze in one direction...warm sun in the other. It was a good walk.
    Going to read now.

I got back on Recumbent for the first time in 4 day but only did 20 minutes protecting my knees. Then did a 20 minute FitOn indoor walking workout and a core workout.

Chris I love bell peppers and have used them a lot this month in my cooking…almost everyday. BTW why are they so expensive I. The grocery store. I guess I need to go to a farmers market.

Karen it’s great to hear someone is standing up for DEI initiatives. What some don’t understand or choose not to is this is not just about race but the rights of representation and participation for women, people with disabilities, ethnicities, sexual orientation, religion, age etc. We should be so passionate about needing these programs but unfortunately many are not because they don’t get twhy they are much needed. I just don’t understand why diversity and representation is not encouraged and wonder why we seem to be going backwards in this country. It’s a little scary.

Okay off my soapbox. Trying to stay positive but it’s hard right now.

Kathy - couldn’t agree more. The pullback of DEI initiatives just hits me and I know many of us so hard in the heart. We have to keep moving forward and demanding that all people are represented. Had a great dinner here with the women last night and now have a full day of presentations and planning for our network. Tonight they will be bringing somebody in to do yoga, which is exciting followed by a dinner and karaoke :-) will be a very long day but sounds like a fun one.

I was able to go to the neurologist husband to get more information about his illness. Good appointment with the neurologist. Jim has stage 1 Parkinson's (the beginning.) He starts meds that should help the tremor in his right arm and his leg that gets stuck. He needs to stay active, reduce stress, work on his depression and exercise his brain. Dementia is possible. The rate of progression is unknown. She feels he will be a candiate for DPS (Deep Brain Stimulation) as it gets worse...they put a device on your brain to help with the tremors. Jim's on one hand sad and upset to hear all of this, but now has a game plan to work on. My husband is very committed to fitness so I know he will even double down more.

I do have a sense of relief now that we have more information and a roadmap ahead. The roadmap, of course, is unsure that isn’t life?

All right, I’m gonna keep my wits about me today at this meeting with all the food they will have lol :-) hope everybody has a great day

Kathy I love your soapbox. Stay up there girl. I have many friends who need it. I think many people never think about diversity until it affects someone they love. The movie industry will keep pushing for us.

Karen this sounds so positive. Doctors are learning things new all the time.

We went to dinner at a noodles restaurant tonight. Never been before. A young couple came in and ordered right after us. She was pregnant and happy. They mentioned being happy to find a nice restaurant so far from home. Brought back so many memories of my early days. They were so polite. I told the waitress to put their dinner on my bill. And not tell them who bought their meal. Sometimes you just need to remember starting out.

I did 40 on Recumbent and a core workout. Up early to take Ron for an outpatient procedure. He fractured his nose in a fall…long story. Doctor thought this would ensure no future problems. I’m getting ready to head out.

    Good day ladies!

OMG, Kathy. Ron's gonna look like a professional pugilist. Hope he feels better soon.

Karen, So glad knowledge, support and options are providing some relief.

Shell, You're a gem. Bet you made that couple's day. Things like that can have wonderful repercussions.

    Hi Chris!

My rollercoaster weight ride is leveling out. Hoping for a loss this month, even if it's a witty-bitty one. I'm still doing my random twenty arm lifts when I think of them. Not much, but it's lapping the couch potato, right?

    Best wishes, y'all!

    Happy Friday Ladies!

Got home late from my business trip to Virginia last night. The purpose of the trip was to attend a women's network summit for my company. I leave the DEI initiatives for North America for the company. So I'm with you all. Diversity and ensuring that we celebrate everybody is so near and dear to my heart. What a great couple of days. Just so inspired by these talented women and hopeful. Sometimes it's really hard to be given everything that's going on in this crazy country, but sitting in a room with 50 other women who really care about diversity and female leadership was awesome! We also did yoga and karaoke which was super fun.

A little challenging given that I am doing a dry January. Wine tasting happy hour and dinners we're not easy. But happy to say I stuck to my guns!

Happy with the progress that I made this month. Really recovered some of that holiday eating. Now I need to really continue to push further.

Dreading putting my bathing suit on for the cruise second week of March. I probably should put it on now to see what the damage is :-)

I have a low key weekend which I'm really looking forward to.
Lots of meetings today and then my iron infusion this afternoon. This is my third of five infusions. I do feel better already.

Hope everybody has a great day!
