I've not been out much so my steps are still very low.Im still coughing & feeling pretty fed up it's been 3 weeks now.My dance fit class starts this Thursday but I don't feel ready to go back yet.
I've got to go to the local shop for some food for tonight & tomorrow.I usually cook a baked ham for New Years day.I could only get a tiny one from my local Aldi which is a shame.
My hubby & I usually stay home on New Years Eve & watch all the fireworks on TV & the music shows that are on.
@Zaza2021 I hope your cough goes soon too,I know how you're feeling.5 -

Yesterday, I made a cute little zine about my past year, using a template I found. It was really fun, part scrapbook and part sketchbook, and I got so caught up in making it that I ended up not exercising yesterday (I did cook, but only grudgingly lol)
I'm going to try to add in some more movement today, but what it will be will depend on how my shoulder feels with the cold front coming in. One thing I'm rather excited about is that I'll be repotting my pachira aquatica today. It'll officially be moving out of my largest flower pot and into a tree pot! I feel ridiculously proud of it. When I got it, it was only a few inches tall and now it's a little over 3 feet.
Today's food options are mostly going to be leftovers, though I'm thinking of making an enchilada casserole to use up my extra beans. I'm also planning on making some black bean brownies for the same reason. We'll see how it goes
@Zaxa2021 and @Pupowl I hope you both get feeling better soon!5 -
@jessicakrall8 Thank you for sharing your story. What a huge relief to have two recent good exams and for some of the swelling tom come down! That's some excellent work on your nutrition and inspiring to hear your progress.
@Pupowl I love reading your posts too! It gave me a little delight to hear about your My Little Pony gift, I remember collecting and playing with those too!
Our weather had a complete meltdown the past two days, which is really disappointing because the outdoor rinks are now mush and there isn't enough snow to go cross country skiing, which I was hoping to do during my time off this week! I hate this mushy-messy just above freezing weather...yuck. In any case, I got some dog walking in and did some indoor weight workouts. I'm heading to the theatre tonight to see the Wicked movie. Looking forward to that!
Happy New Year everyone!

I have started doing an ankle and foot stretching routine each morning while waiting for coffee to brew, and added a set of wall push ups to the jumping jacks. I will make adjustments if needed but will reevaluate at end of month. Attended Strong Seniors on Monday.
Thanks @frankwbrown I have joined the January challenges I can do walking. I have been doing hiking expeditions and am currently on the Patagonia Circuit.

Yesterday was not very interesting. I played my horse game, watched some Lucifer and had lots of tea with laptime for Tinus. I am glad he doesn't care about the fireworks, so we still got a couple of walks in. I really dislike fireworks and I looked online at some vacation houses for next year, but it is so expensive that I don't think it is worth it. Thankfully my village is pretty small and it's usually not that bad anyway. I got another package with a present for my mom and hairoil for me. In the evening I used my walking pad for 51 minutes and enjoyed the new playlist I made. Went to bed with earplugs, woke up at 0:09, petted Tinus downstairs and went back to sleep again a few minutes later. I think fireworks were only going for 20ish minutes. We do have a bit of a storm at the moment and it was super noisy at night so the earplugs came in handy for the whole night. Happy Wednesday everyone6

Quiet evening for me, except for the thunderstorms ⛈️⚡ It was very warm yesterday and a cold front came in last night bringing thunder, lightning and hail. I think it kept the people with fireworks inside so that was a plus. 👍
I wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2025!6 -

Good morning all! 🙋♀️ Welcome to the newbies and hello again to the returning peeps.
My name is Sue, and I am 64 years old. I live in southern Maryland, am married, have two grown kids (1 in NYC, 1 in VA), 2 grandbabies (VA) and 1 fur baby 🐶. I work full time and am currently teleworking 4 out of 5 days per week. I love to read, ride my bike, quilt, and make greeting cards. I am always up for a challenge and am usually involved in multiple reading, fitness and Fitbit challenges at any given time. 📚🚶♀️
I have been on MFP for over 10 years now. Wow...time sure does fly!! I hit my “official” goal of 140 lbs two years ago but have crept steadily up since then to over 150, which is my “I must do something now” threshold. It took me years (almost 20) to crack the 150 barrier so I never wanted to pass it again.
The cold has been keeping me indoors so I haven't been getting my steps in. Funny, I had no problem walking year round in Buffalo and Maine but now if it drops below 45 or so I don't want to go outside. I am travelling 2 of the 4 weekends each month and that is always a challenge for me. Last year we bought our “retirement” home in VA near the grandkids so we are going down there frequently, taking carloads of stuff and doing small projects like painting and putting up shelves.
Anyway, that’s me. I am happy to be here and look forward to a great month! Happy New Year!!

Good Morning Shape Shifters
We had both the aurora and fireworks last night. Started the anti anxiety meds for the dog in the afternoon which helped.Taken last night:@Pupowl I like listening to music when walking too. I found some playlists that are grouped by bpm which keep me on a steady pace.
Taken this morning:

Good morning Shape Shifters. A stormy day here, so only one walk for mister Tinus. He was happy to be annoying and on my lap the whole day though. I got my gym rings done with a lot of effort. I don't really like using them anymore, but I am also not sure what other easily accessible strength training I can do. So for now I will just 'suffer' though it. Only 3 times a week for 30ish minutes, surely I can do that. Also got a walk done on the pad again, 41 minutes this time. I was feeling a little dizzy, though it wasn't from using the pad. I could write another weight loss/diet rant, but I am too lazy since I woke up 30 minutes ago, lol. Lucky for you guys! Happy Thursday everyone6

@p8m6bwghh9 Good idea walking by BPM! I like when it works out that way (for me with Hozier / Too sweet) but I didn't pick songs like that on purpose. I mostly put in songs that are cheerful and that I like to sing along with. Though that is easier said than done when I am out of breath from walking. Love the aurora pictures!3

I think I'm about ready to get back the gym.
I'm now dreading it because of the New Years craziness. Last year was insane for the first couple of weeks. But I need to get back, I feel like there has been one thing after another keeping me from going and doing a good workout.
@Pupowl Have you looked into YouTube workouts? I was doing body weight workout videos (no equipment) for a while. Maybe you can trade out one of your gym ring days for something like that to give a bit more variety.5 -
@Zaxa2021 I'm with you on the gym craziness, I used to hate having to fight for my spinning bike with people who were just going to stop coming anyway. I should have been more encouraging I guess. I read yesterday that the average person only makes it to the second week in January before giving up. I was shocked! I thought it was at least February!! My gym never started classes back up after the pandemic, which mkes sense I guess. I went to a gym on a Navy base and most of the workforce is working remotely, myself included. No way I'd get up and go to the gym at 5:30 AM only to turn around and go back home after.2

@Zaxa2021 I did look at youtube but I can't find anything I want to try. Honestly though, I don't like working out and sweating in general, lol. A lot of it doesn't seem beginner friendly at all, even if they claim it is. I think I am going back to the gym as well in a few months. I know I said before that it is too expensive, but I think I just need to make it fit. I am never so poor that I have less than 100 euros left at the end of the month, so I can afford 50 euros for the gym. The gym here is really nice and you get a lot of support plus a new schedule every 8 weeks. I want to get my weight down a little bit more first and also wait out the new year resolution people. Though hearing from @DaffyGirl88 that people don't even make it to February is really shocking to me too!2
