Shape Shifters Team Chat - January 2025

@p8m6bwghh9 Thanks for sharing! Dance workouts are pretty fun, though I often struggle to keep up. I am happy with walking for my cardio for now. It is strength training I want to add to my routine more. I would love to not bother with it at all, but it is really good for fat loss and I want to reduce the chance of loose skin. Oh well, I picked 'persevere' as my word for 2025 for a reason.
@CasandraW That is a great suggestion, I totally forgot about those! I bet they are cheap over here as well, so I am going to have a look. Thank you!4 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday I got the last package with a present for my mom and I went to the giftshop for a birthday card and another present. I hope she likes everything I got her. 3 things she asked for and 3 things I got extra. I wrapped everything so it's ready to go for Sunday. The weather was actually really nice in the morning, cold and sunny. I still didn't manage to go for a walk outside though. Tinus was also being silly. He just sat on the mat with the door open in the sun, but he didn't go outside. I took some funny pictures of him later when he did want to 'walk'. I used my walking pad for 48 minutes in the evening which was fun. Though I was in bed around 21:00, it took me over 2 hours to fall asleep. I wish my brain had an 'off' switch. Happy Friday everyone7

Could be better but given that I spent a week in VA and there were 2 holidays in there it could definitely be worse, so I'll take it.
@Pupowl The pictures of Tinus crack me up. I know that's his normal face but he looks slighly angry and bored with the world. LOL5 -

Well shoot. I have finally pulled myself together after a couple of weeks of floundering around. Unfortunately, it wasn't soon enough to see positive results on the scale. But I have started tracking again and I went back to the gym yesterday. So hopefully next week will be better.8 -

I did a 2 mile run and I STRUGGLED. I think my lungs aren't quite 100% healed after being ill. Oh well, still felt good to be moving again. I'm sure I will only improve in the coming days/week.8 -
Hi everyone, I'm the proud owner of a new air fryer. What are your favorite things to cook in it and/or your favorite recipes? Thanks!5

Week 1 Weigh-in!
Friday
PW: 251.9 lbs

I overindulged this past week and that definitely caught up with me. Even so, I'm pretty happy with how consistent I've been with stretching and taking my dogs for longer walks. Looking over the week, I think a big factor was that I would get busy with painting/writing and would forget to eat, which made my freezer pizzas look waaay too tempting. So, I think that a good idea for this weekend would be to make some additional meals or some extra helpings to freeze for the days I get busy and distracted
@DaffyGirl88 Congratulations! I have a small air fryer, but I always end up using it to make fries lol Falafel get made a lot more often now too3 -

I broke 260 for New Year's (going up, not down!). Each time I've gained to reach the next ten pound increment -- 230, 240, 250, now 260 -- I've said to myself "That's it, I can't allow myself to gain any more. I worked too hard to lose all this weight only to gain it back." And yet, here I am, having regained to 260 -- I've regained ⅓ of the weight I lost several years ago. When I've expressed my frustration at this to friends and family, they often say I should be proud that I lost so much weight. They're just trying to make me feel better, but that's not what I need right now.
In December, I procrastinated in taking action, thinking the New Year will be a great time for a fresh start. But enough with the excuses, it's time to build some better habits and make some effective changes in my diet.
Anyway, enough with the complaining. I hope everyone has a great new year with lots of success!

@DaffyGirl88 Congrats! I usually use the air fryer to reheat, DH uses it for various things especially wings and onion rings during football. I have been using liners, both silicone and parchment, because I’m pretty lazy and it cuts down on cleaning. We also take one when camping, I’m really not about roughing it🤣2 -

This was our big family pig out week so I’m ok with a one pound gain. Kids have gone back to their respective homes so it’s time to start clearing out the junk food. For us, Christmas is not officially over until my daughter’s birthday on January 9th so this is the time we use or toss all the holiday food. I’ve frozen some treats and I’ve given some away. Others I just need to put away because they don’t tempt me if they’re not on the counter. I’m going to work on my meal plan and grocery list tonight and tomorrow. We have cold weather coming on Sunday so I’d like to get ahead of all the panic buying.
I’m still struggling with knee pain. Some days are better than others. I miss getting out and walking and I need to find another way to get in my cardio. I’m giving myself a big pat on the back, though. This week marks 5 years since I started working out with my trainer 3x a week! I do love it and we have a great group of people to work out with. I wish I had lost more weight over that time, but my primary goal was to get my knee stronger in preparation for a total knee replacement. I had about two weeks where I really felt I could focus on weight loss again, and bam! That’s when my other knee gave out. Despite that, I’m so much stronger and in better shape than I was five years ago. Today, a lady who has been going there about a year longer than me saw me working on a machine and said she was impressed with how strong I am because I’m pulling down more weight than her. That really made me feel proud!5 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. I had a boring day yesterday. Just gaming, tea, cuddling Tinus. The usual. I walked on the pad for 30 minutes in the evening. I didn't have a lot of energy, but I am still happy with what I did. I found some sport leggings on sale so I ordered 3 of them for when I go back to the gym in either Feb or early March. Happy Saturday everyone8

I dropped my kids off at my mom's for the weekend and then pretty much just fell asleep on the couch for the rest of the evening. I didn't get to the gym like I was planning so I'm really glad I went for a walk earlier and at least got close to my step goal.
Food was okay yesterday, but could have been better. I'm going grocery shopping today (maybe tomorrow) and going to do some meal prep stuff so I can fully get back on track with my food next week.
I'm going to go to the gym this morning after I have my caffeine. After that, I just have a bunch of chores around the house for the rest of the day. I'm hoping to have a productive day today while the kids are gone.
Have a good weekend, everyone!6 -

Thank goodness all the Christmas are gone coz it was me who ate them all lol 😪
At last my horrid cough seems to have gone.So hopefully I can get back to healthy eating & back to the gym.Ive planned a walk with a friend on Monday so that's good. The gym I go to is 10 mins walk away it isn't fancy but the people are friendly & I've always been happy to go on my own. They have recently tried to smarten it up a bit,new flooring in the gym & steam room etc.So guess what, I've had an email to say the price for the month is going up £5 ! So I guess the management don't want to pay for the refurb.
It's still quite cheap compared to other places but still quite a leap in charges.I get my money's worth as the classes are included & I go to Dance fit 5 x a week.So I will just have to find the money.Luckily I get an over 60s discount.
Sorry rant over, have a great Saturday all ❤️
It's my hubby's birthday today & he's officially a pensioner 66 years young & we've been a couple for 45 years 🥰7 -

I love doing Tyson chicken patties and crispy crinkle french fries...no grease! I've done baked chicken with a crispy coating, but find that it's easier to do my wonderful baked chicken thighs better in the oven (the secret is the Kentucky Kernel coating mix...available at Walmart, Kroger even Amazon)...amazing realm of flavors and tastes better than any restaurant chicken (400 degrees for 40 minutes skin side down, then turn and bake for another 30-35 min) depending on how crispy you want it. AMAZING! I also like doing other appetizer stuff in the air fryer...
