Good morning Shape Shifters!
Saturday steps

On the low side due to frigid temps and 20 mph winds. Sadly not going to get any better for a couple of days and tomorrow it will include snow/sleet.
I was getting some indoor steps cleaning my exercise room until the Amazon driver came with my new Garmin. I had to sit right down and play with it. LOL Which took quite a while as this is my first smart watch and there's quite a learning curve. I've been earning badges left and right though, even got one for waking up this morning! LOL There's incentive to get out of bed right there. Only wish I'd known that it didn't come with a charging adapter, I'd have ordered one at the same time. I have no direct USB-C adapters in my house, so I hope that battery is as good as they say and holds on until I can get one.
Have a great day and stay warm everyone!

Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday was a very long day for me. My dad was here at 9:30 and then I drove us to my mom. The weather wasn't too bad; mostly just piles of rain and very wet roads so visibilty wasn't great. No ice though, so I was happy about that. When we showed up, my brother with his two kids was also there. They were super loud and hyperactive. I don't want kids, and being around them always makes it painfully clear why not. My mom enjoyed all her presents which was nice. I had a piece of applepie and later some bread for lunch. My dad drove us back to my place again and we were home around 16:15. He wanted to go out for dinner, though I would have happily skipped it. I had a vegan chili sin carne wrap and some ice cream for dessert that I could & should have gone without.
I was finally home alone again around 18:40. My steps were very sad by that time, I only had 4300 or so. I didn't have the energy to use my walking pad, but I did want to get my 12k steps, so I ended up stepping behind my computer to some youtube video. Pretty pleased I got that done at least. Of course the scale this morning was way up, but I think it will be gone quick as well. Happy Monday everyone5 -

I ran a 5k run along with some walking on the treadmill. After that, I went grocery shopping and made a lentil salad thing and boiled some eggs for lunch for a few days this week. And then I did nothing for the rest of the day. It was nice to have some lazy time this weekend, although I did get bored for a little bit.
Have a good day, everyone4 -

Still learning my new Garmin and on today's agenda is finding where my step goal setting is. It says that yesteray I was at 180% of my goal, when I actually missed it by 755 steps. However it does think that I hit a new personal best LOL Have a great day everyone and for those impacted by the storm stay inside and stay safe.5 -

- The scale’s been coming down every day.. nice to see that #15 back in front. 💪(although I didn’t finish the week with it & TOM didn’t help with that)
- Got over a cold and still working on emotionally healing (emphasis on the word Healing not Eating) still feeling sad after my daughter’s friend’s funeral.6 -
Good Morning Shape Shifters
I would like to rejoin the active group on Saturday and will post a weigh in. I have no idea what my weight is right now. Right after my mom passed I lost a lot of weight, I just couldn't eat without feeling sick. Then I ate too much a certainly gained, I can tell by my clothes. It's time to get back to taking care of myself.
It will be a month in days since my moms sudden passing. It's been a terrible drawn out month. The last funeral type thing was yesterday. We hosted a Celebration of Life at our local legion, both of my parents are military veterans. I think there were 60-70 people there sharing stories and drinks. It was exactly what she would have wanted.
I miss her so much already and forgot she was gone the other day and went to call her. For any of the seniors, we really anybody, if something feels off with your health go to the hospital, don't wait.9 -
Well I'm going to have to face the fact that I won't get 10K steps today. I just spent 40 minutes shoveling and only got a little over 1000 steps. If I'd been walking it would've been around 5000. Shoveling is a rip off, take 2 stpes, throw the snow, repeat. Taking a break right now to work for a bit and will be going back out this afternoon. Stay warm!!!5

@CasandraW It's good to have you back. Completely understand the struggle of not being able to eat and then overeat. A month of saying goodbye sounds very draining, though I am glad you hosted a celebration of life. In my opinion that is the best way to start healing from a huge loss. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you!
@DaffyGirl88 I feel you on that. Cleaning/vacuuming is just as useless! Maybe you can put your tracker around the shovel for better results, lol.4 -

@Pupowl that sounds like cheating LOL Like strapping it to your ankle when riding a stationary bike. I checked the list of possible exercises available and snow skiing and snow shoeing were there, but snow shoveling was not. I think they're missing out on a large market. LOL4 -

I actually felt fit enough to go for a walk today.Ive been ill for over 3 weeks so fingers crossed it has gone.I went with my friend Debbie for a short walk around the park then for a coffee in the cafe.We both avoided ordering one of the lovely cakes
We then went to the gym for a swim & sauna & steam, followed by the jacuzzi. We had a lovely afternoon & a good catch up.
I've booked a class for Dance fit this Wednesday evening.
Sorry you've been sick all weekend @jessicakrall8 that does suck ! Hope you feel better now.
Welcome back @ CasandraW it looks like you gave your Mum a great send off.It must have been hard to lose her so suddenly. You only get one Mum after losing mine I always tell my friends to make sure they see alot of their parents as you never know what's around the corner. This year was the first time I've not visited my Mum's grave on her anniversary,Boxing Day 2014 as there was severe flooding & I wasn't well.
@ Pupowl I'm glad your drive wasn't too bad & glad you enjoyed spending time with your Mum & Dad.5 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday Tinus had to go to the vet again for his pain medication. He wasn't happy about it, but it went well. Got a package delivered with a new bag of Flexadin chews for Tinus. I found them a little cheaper this time which is nice since he needs one a day. Still €50 for 60 of them though! Learned my mom didn't get a single present from her partner for her birthday, he didn't even ask what she wanted. It was also their 17 year anniversary. Gosh, I really don't like him...
The rest of the day was very boring, lazy and hungry. I didn't use my walking pad because I had a shower after the vet visit and I didn't want to shower twice. Probably should have walked anyway since I had nothing else to do. I went to bed at 19:30 out of pure boredom. Happy Tuesday everyone6 -

It took me three trips outside to shovel to a) finish the driveway and b) get all of my steps, but I did it! Woot!
@Pupowl I don't think I like your mom's partner either. 😡4 -

I slipped in an extra walk to take the boys to swing at the park. They enjoyed it a lot, which was a nice break from their crankiness that was there for most of the day.
I also went to the gym at night. I ran a 5k, which was the 3rd in a row, out of my goal of 7 days straight. The gym was crazy busy still from all of the resolutioners. I could barely find parking but luckily could find an open treadmill.
We have physical and speech therapies for the boys today so I won't have as much time for walks. I'm going to really focus on my diet today. I've fallen into the snack habit again. It's not because of hunger. I think it comes from boredom. Maybe a bit of stress eating in there as well. I need to get it under control.
Have a good day, everyone!4 -
@DaffyGirl88 @CasandraW I know right... He doesn't care about presents, so my mom never gets anything. She says he isn't very romantic, I just think that's called being a caring and decent human being. Ever since they met I've felt like they had nothing in common. He sleeps until noon, stays up late at night playing video games, barely leaves the house. He retired before my mom did and he still didn't lift a finger to clean. My mom did everything on top of her work. She said "but he does take care of the bills and the car!". Oh wow, you mean the automated bills you have to do nothing for? And going to the garage once a year? Impressive! I remember when they first met, she said his house looked very tidy. She later learned his mom came over to clean it beforehand! He is a just a giant man child in my eyes. I do my best not to be too negative when she tells me these things, but it takes some effort for sure. I think she deserves better, but she says they have a lot of fun together as well and that he is too old to change. Oh well.5

@izzyred9400 thank you for sharing about your mom and I’m sorry to hear you couldn’t visit this year.
I keep telling people not to live with regret. I did lots with my mom, I know she loved me and I know she knows how much we loved her. My sadness is for the future we will not have, not for the past at all.
There are others in her life that are dealing with regret, they didn’t make time, or make a point to care. I’m very glad I will not have to live with that.4 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. I got a package with new barefoot shoes for the gym yesterday. I adore the colors and from testing them in the house, they are super comfortable. It was the last pair they had left and it was exactly my size. Because of that they were discounted a lot which was nice. I wrote an email to a webshop where I bought two Woodstone bee hotels last year. They gave a 10 year warranty on the body, yet less than a year later, both of them are cracking in 4 places. I asked for my money back, and they replied they will send me two new ones. A little tone deaf. I wrote back again I want my money back, so lets see what happens today!
Also made an appointment at the gym for an intake on the 4th of February. That gives me some time to lose a bit more weight and get into a routine with cooking again. My mom is also sleeping over at the end of the month so I wanted to do it after. Otherwise I have to miss days right at the start which is not ideal. I walked on the pad for 3.42 km / 40 minutes so that was pretty good. Happy Wednesday everyone7
