@PatriceFitnessPal Yes, I truly treasure my lifelong friend. I'm turning 67 this year and am understanding now what my Mom went through as her wonderful friends passed away. I too have lost so many. We need to keep in touch with those that are still here. 💞2

Blackberry Dr Pepper?? I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled! I don't drink pop anymore but when I did I enjoyed Dr Pepper. Now my curiosity is definitely aroused.0

I’m not sure if we have any new members but, if so — welcome!
I still haven’t posted my introduction this month but I’ll share something by the end of the week. My introduction varies only slightly from month to month but when I add some new details, it gets too long — my posts tend to be long already!
So, I have a quick question: Do you like to hear more about (1) the weight loss journey - focusing more on nutrition, exercise, attitude, and motivation - or (2) the person’s life and a little about who they are, what they do, things they like and dislike or (3) a mix of both?
Usually, I use my phone to post messages here but maybe I’ll use the computer next time I introduce myself so I can put information under the ‘spoiler’ feature to shorten my introduction. 🤔 Have a great day, Shape Shifters!3 -

@PatriceFitnessPal I am happy to read anything/everything people post. I am frequently inspired, strengthened and feel like I have companions on this journey instead of going it alone 🙂

@PatriceFitnessPal I like to read a mixture of both.
A persons story is interesting however they chose to share it though.3 -
@PatriceFitnessPal If you're asking about an intro post, anything is fine. For other posts during the month I generally prefer sticking to food, fitness, weight loss journey. I'm probably in the minority with that, but I am more inclined to engage on those topics of discussion. I do appreciate when you seed the convo with interesting questions.
On the subject of fizzy drink flavours, that definitely caught my attention as I also picked up orange cream coke and cream soda pepsi. both came in zero sugar options and that is my vice for sure. my all time fav is still the oreo cookie coke zero that came out for a bit this summer. i have found a really great coconut pineapple flavoured bubbly water that I cut 50/50 with water. that's been my hack for hydration these past few weeks.

Yes — @indoorsy_, I was thinking about the monthly introduction when I posed that question. Thanks for all the feedback. It’s very helpful!

I walked to the dentist today instead of driving, but I was a few minutes late. I really had plenty of time, so there’s no excuse (besides my likely undiagnosed ADHD), but usually I’d end up driving. The dentist has the scheduling down to a science so I think they typically call us after about a 5 or 10 minute wait time anyway — but I try not to be late even if there is a buffer.
On the downside, I stopped for a gelato on my way home 🤣🤣🤣 which clearly canceled out any calories burned! 😬
This ends the food & exercise topic. More personal tangent follows but I guess there's no more 'spoiler' feature to hide the text? — Sorry!
I didn’t really care if I had the gelato treat so that’s a good sign. I only stopped in there because the owner is a sweet man who always has a smile for everyone walking along the main street, and he’s going out of business. So, all the neighbors are trying to make sure he sells his inventory before he closes in April.
I love this community but it’s a sad time in the Washington, DC area. Lot’s of people are suddenly out of jobs and they’re cutting out any non-essential spending. We’re working together to figure out ways to save as many small businesses as possible and help people use there tremendous skills in new ways.
So many of the young women I played soccer with tonight shared their disappointments — e.g., “My foreign service job was officially rescinded today. I wasn’t surprised but I would have been mostly processing passports in my first year, and that generates a ton of revenue that pays all the funds necessary to run the consulate, so I was holding out hope,” and a few worse stories but I’m getting off track —
I just want to lend whatever support I can to these wonderful young, kind, energetic, hardworking women. We’re a resilient community so we’ll get through it! 💪😍💪

@PatriceFitnessPal its a very troubling time for many of us. My son lives and works remote in DC (not federal employee) and just received a return to office notice-in Boston. He and his partner just bought a condo in December. It will be difficult for him to look for another job in the area because of the influx of laid-off folks. And my husband is a retired federal employee (I’ve been civil service in the past as well) so all our checks and benefits (pension, TSP, Social Security, Medicare) all come from the federal government. The pension check was late in February so I’m obviously very nervous.
Not good for me to be nervous because it affects my stress levels and I am a really bad stress eater. I’m going to have to come up with some good tools in my toolbox to handle stress better.

My steps were low because I had too many work deadlines and there was heavy rain for most of the day. My calorie count was over my target, too, but I think I probably broke even for the day. I just didn’t have a deficit. On the bright side, I made it to yoga this morning, which is one of my goals. My leg muscles were especially tight after playing soccer last night so it felt important to stretch. I decided to go at the last minute, and I’m glad I went. I did some shopping at the grocery store on my way home, too.
The gym and store are both just a block from my house so I might need to take a loop around the park to add more steps whenever I go shopping or to the YMCA for a workout!

@cre804 - I’m so sorry to hear that your son is also caught up in the chaos and upheaval.
I’ll send you a direct message in case there is any way I can help, either here or in Boston, where I’ll be staying March 8-12 to check in with my mother and finish some tasks for her.

@PatriceFitnessPal Just wanted to mention it is still possible to add a spoiler. At least on my pc, I have a little symbol on the left side of the text box. If you click it and then the 3rd symbol, you get a dropdown menu from where you can select the spoiler.
Boo!

Thank you so much, @Pupowl! I usually use my phone but I didn’t see the spoiler option so I logged on to my computer, specifically for that purpose — and still didn’t see the spoiler feature!
I appreciate your help navigating the new format!0 -

~ Yesterday’s scale seemed too low after overloading on sodium at the festival and today’s seemed too high, but as I viewed both days together, I think the scale’s being pretty fair… just a small concern .. we might go to the festival again tonight🫤 not sure how well Will Power will do once he’s tempted again.2 -

@PatriceFitnessPal and @cre804 I'm with both of y'all. I live in southern MD and my husband and I both work on the Navy base, he's civil servant and I'm a contractor. The upheaval on the base is crazy. Even before COVID / telework there wasn't enough room on base to house all of the employees, and canceling leases of office space in the surrounding communities doesn't help. My daughter works for the VA in Virginia (thought VA in VA would be too many VAs LOL) and I was worried for her. Theoretically she's exempt because she's a nurse but a lot of other essential jobs have been cut so nothing would surprise me. I'm lying low at the moment waiting for the bullseye to land on defense contractors, you just know it's coming, just a matter of time. Just give me 300 more days…that's all I need…LOL
In other news, I stoped at Wegmans yesterday looking for some Blackberry Dr Pepper. No such luck. 😔
