@Pupowl I will certainly miss your wonderful photography, the pics and stories of Tinus and most of all, your big heart. You've cared for this group, just like family. I understand though, that if your journey is taking you in another direction or you need to find something that works better, you have to put yourself first. I applaud you for that realization and for making the changes you need to help your health.
I do hope you will stay in touch with me and perhaps email on occasion. You will always be a wonderful friend. I will be speaking with the two candidates this weekend and will keep you in the loop on where we are with a decision.

It is with great pleasure that I announce our two newest additions to our Shape Shifter Leadership Team…
@frankwbrown is joining us as Co-Captain. Frank is a former programmer who will help us greatly with keeping our spreadsheets up to date for all of our stats and will monitor the chat threads. I spoke with Frank yesterday and he's anxious to be a greater part of the team and I'm sure with all of his Garmin zeal, he will share great ideas with us as well!
@nancyinmiami is joining us as our newest Motivator. Nancy is a former teacher who has some great ideas for keeping our team supported and is anxious with some new ideas for keeping our team lively and ready for new challenges and growth! Nancy's personality and love of life has long been a part of our membership so I'm anxious to see how she blossoms in this role. I'm looking forward to seeing how she works well with our current Motivator (@LaurieWrobo) and I encourage them to work together to better build up the team.
@Pupowl is staying with us during the month of April to give a little time for the transition for everyone. She remains a vital part of this team and when her time comes to exit, we hope she will pop in on occasion and keep in touch with us. Her skills over the past years and her kind heart for the membership of this team is unmatched. We still have six weeks to enjoy her wit and wisdom but it goes without saying that she will be GREATLY missed by the whole team. I personally want to thank her for her support during the crisis I have been enduring with the swelling/pain issues in my legs. She's checked on me and been a wonderful friend to me all along.
On behalf of the whole team, WELCOME to the leadership club and we look forward to new adventures with you both!
Jessica

I definitely had over 10,000 steps today but my battery died and the watch powered down while I was playing soccer tonight. I’m satisfied with the number though —
I hope you all enjoyed the weekend! Thank you to the team captains and motivators!

Congratulations to @frankwbrown @indoorsy_ and @jessicakrall8 for being last week's team winners.
And thank you to all of the team leaders, incoming and current, for keeping this team running. It is greatly appreciated.
So I ran a St Patrick's Day 5k race yesterday. It could have been better, but it wasn't too horrible. I was about 30 seconds slower than my target time, but I'm not really surprised. I never really got comfortable with that pace while training.
However, my hip is rebelling now. It was giving me problems several months back, and never 100% healed. I suspect it's bursitis, though I haven't seen a doctor. It was mostly better for a while. But earlier this week, it started getting bad again, and it hurt quite a bit after the race. So I have to take some more time off from running. It's hard for me, but I'm going to try to be good and wait until it's all the way healed. I'll still workout in other ways, though. Elliptical, bike, stair climber etc. I'm quite bummed since I was starting to make good progress with my runs and starting to enjoy it, but I guess it is what it is at this point.
Have a good Monday everyone!

@frankwbrown @nancyinmiami Thank you both for being willing & able to help out with the team!
@jessicakrall8 Thank you so much for the kind words. I will for sure keep track of what everyone is up to here after April. I do really love this group and the people we have are awesome. I really hope your legs will behave soon!
@Tomsgal1985 Thanks!

Hello Shape Shifters. I wasn't sure if it would be silly to keep posting since I have announced I am leaving, but I am still here for now, so why not! My mom was here from Thursday until Sunday so we did a lot of walking. She was a bit sick, but she didn't want to skip the visit. She got me two pretty puzzles, my favourite tea (ti kuan yin) and some birdfood. Friday morning my dad also came over and we did one of my favourite walks. Afterwards we had lunch together. My parents divorced when I was 18, so it's been a while, but it always makes me very happy when we can do stuff together. I made sure to take a cute selfie of the three of us. 😊 Happy Monday everyone 💚
Edit: I can't seem to put pictures in a spoiler anymore. Sorry about that.

Hello Shape Shifters!
Thank you @jessicakrall8 for your kind words. I'm excited to jump in as Motivator! I guess I should begin with a re-introduction, and will leave you with a question.
I am 63 years old and have been retired and living in Aventura, Florida (that's between Miami and Fort Lauderdale) for the past year and a half. I'm a native New Yorker and a former law firm HR administrator. At 38, I fell in love and married a philosophy professor, and we moved from NYC to the Ozarks of Missouri (nothing like the show lol). Two years later I had my daughter, Victoria, who is going to be 23 next month. My NYC job simply didn't exist in the Ozarks, so I went back to school and became a high school English teacher, which I did for 15 years. While I never truly adapted to country living (I'm a city girl at heart), I made wonderful friends and had the most amazing career I never thought possible. We always vacationed in Miami and thought, "wouldn't it be great to live here one day?" so we did! This is the first time since NY that I truly feel that the Miami area is home. The sunshine, the beach, the lifestyle — it's all good for my soul! Retirement has been terrific. I am currently studying Spanish (a MUST in Miami), play tennis, visit the beaches, and volunteer at a local elementary school, where I am helping first graders with their reading. I am also a Jazzercise and Zumba junkie (taught both for awhile) and take classes regularly, along with Pilates.
I've been fortunate in that I never struggled with weight until (cue the scary music) menopause. Wow, no one really prepares you for that because everyone's experience is different. It wrecked me. The weight came on, big time. On top of that, I also had an rare reaction to a Statin I was on, where I was unable to walk without a cane for over six months. The Statins were literally (and as an English teacher, I mean literally) tearing my muscles apart, and no doctor could figure it out. Finally, a wonderful acupuncturist suggested it might be the Statins. My doc suggested I try taking a break from them, and within 5 days, I was pain free and back to exercising. All great news, but the weight gain during that time was significant. That's when I found MFP and this amazing group (I was "nancyinmo" then). With the help of Mounjaro (which I am still on for maintenance) and changing my habits, I lost a total of 111 lbs. Since then, I've gained back 30 of those pounds (Miami food is GOOD!), and I am working on losing 25 of those pounds. I have found MFP and this wonderful group to be an essential part of helping me stay accountable and motivated.
So now I hope to help motivate you (and me) as well. So I'd like to leave you with a question: what can I do to help you along with your journey? I am open to any ideas and suggestions you may have. Feel free to post in the group, or if there's something personal you wish to ask, feel free to email me at nancyinmiami@yahoo.com. And @LaurieWrobo I'd love to chat with you when you have a moment. Again, if anyone has any questions for me, please do not hesitate to reach out. My role is to help YOU! Thanks for your time😎
