    July Goals

    Miles Tracked: 81
Apple Challenge: walk or run 2.5 miles on 14 differnt days.

My Apple challenge is oddly specific. 😂 I didn't look to see what my challenge was before I got my workout in. 15min with Jessica Smith's Walk On, 6 Mile mix. I did the Upper body Mix. I logged it through my watch as Functional strength training instead of a walk. I'm pretty okay with that b/c my shoulders are burning. A good way to start a new month.

    My July Goals (5 Goals):

    1. Continue personal training sessions, twice a week (generally on Tuesdays and Fridays)
    2. Eat for success in the gym by following this guidance: "Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat." —Excerpt from Fitness in 100 Words by Greg Glassman, CrossFit Founder
    3. Work in walks whenever I can
    4. Attend these two group classes at my gym: Boot Camp (Mondays); and Tai Chi (Wednesdays)
    5. Special July Challenge: Go kayaking and/or lake swimming 3x/week, weather permitting

My goal for July is to keep it simple, either 10,000 steps or fit in at least a 20 min Leslie workout. If I accomplish more, great. If I don’t, that’s ok too. Exercise is important, of course, but Maine summers are short so I don’t want to commit myself too much. I want to leave time for doing whatever comes at me; swimming, convertible ride on a beautiful day, a side-by-side ride on a so-so day, or sitting with a good book on vacation. My goal is doable and still allows fun time. I’ll up my goal in the fall.
    7/1: 14,505 steps

Yesterday I walked Dottie 30 minutes, did personal training 30 minutes, and mowed 25 minutes.

Love everybody's goals. I totally agree @lclark04957 about the summer being short. Northern Michigan is the same and I want to really enjoy it. Adding a goal for this month about that.

    So, my goals are:

    1. Average 11,000 steps daily
    2. Complete some Garmin challenges in support of the above goal
    3. Walk or hike outside 6 times per week, weather permitting and
    4. Be present. With lots of friends and family activities, and visitors, really be in that moment and enjoy the time with them. Not worry about work, if my house is clean enough or whatever. Just enjoy being with them.

With that, I took a rest day yesterday (still nailed step goal) and did an outside 2 mile loop this morning. Will be heading to my family's cottages for the weekend. Lots of siblings, niblings and greats will be there. Not sure if I'll post much with all the activity. Looking forward to toddler hugs!

I woke up this morning and wasn't sure what I would do. I chose a 20 Min Energetic Walk from Improved Health. Honestly, I chose it because it was the 1st thing I saw on YouTube. My shoulders are still burning from yesterday and this morning workout had my arms constantly going too. I'm adding "don't let me arms fall off" to my goals this month. 🤣

Ry pushed 2 1-mile laps around the field so far. We need to pickup another set of glasses so he can ride though.

Today I did Tai Chi 85 minutes ☯️

@Deeder522 Great goals and nice way to start the month strong! Good idea to add the new goal that your arms will appreciate:) And good job to Ry and those laps!

@lclark04957 Perfect goals for your July! 💜 Such a nice and easy feel of just going with the flow… I love it!! 😎 And way to go greeting July with such great mileage starting off!

@megd44 Awesome goals with a nice work/play balance, and being in the moment, I love it! Excellent job getting your step goal in on a rest day, hooray for you! Have a wonderful time with your family this weekend while soaking up those amazing toddler hugs! 💜💛 So happy for you!

@zichab Hello to you! Thinking of you and hoping you are on your way to feeling better! 💚

I think today might be a rest day. I had a bunch of earrands this morning. The heat is back on and we'll be near 90+ the next couple of days.

I hope everyone have a good holiday this weekend.

Today is my rest day (Thursdays). I mowed 60 minutes, which I regard as a cross-country weighted walk and wrangle over hill and dale, rock and ridge, and always a challenge.

    Happy 4th!

I hope everyone had a great holiday. So glad we are getting rain today, desperately needed. And a great break from the heat.

Really had a nice time with family. My great nephews are hysterically funny! Got lots of hugs, a small dance party and water play. And my nieces are amazing women!

Didn't hit my daily step goals, so after tomorrow we'll see what my weekly average is. Got in a lot of swimming - the lake temp was 79 degrees - and pushing kids on swings. Nailed the be in the moment goal and didn't even stress about the step count. Just enjoyed family time and some less than stellar food choices.

Back home late yesterday and got in a 2 mile WAH Mix and Match blend. Now laundry and other chores!!

After a few much needed rest days I think I'll be ready to get back on the horse in the morning.
We're looking towards more seasonable temps this week. Ry has had a few active days around the house. We'll see if he has a set back this week or not. Last night, I made Beef Ribs in the oven and given all the limitations I work with for Ry's intolerances, they turned out amazingly.

@zichab I hope you're on the mend now.

@megd44 Great job staying in the now. I struggle with that myself.

@Elfirose33 & @lclark04957 How did you holiday go?

@Deeder522 Holiday was great. One last day off with a lobster dinner and strawberry shortcake for dessert. I love this time of year. No Fitbit and no Leslie since Friday. I’m ok with that. Mental health is as important. Back at it tomorrow.
Sounds like everyone else had a good weekend too and managed to get in some exercise. I’m impressed.

Yesterday I got a great workout cleaning my house all day long, and I had the best time ever doing it! All of the holiday activity was fun, but it was nice to have a whole day to myself, and I require that at times. Last night Mark and I just floated on the lake in two new raft loungers we bought recently, very relaxing. After that a neighbor saw us out there and invited us on a boat ride with them at sunset.

@megd44 Good, rain is so helpful for that! So glad you had a nice time with family 💗 Well done being in the moment and enjoying life as it comes! And, you're not alone… laundry and chores await me, as well, and that is on the slate for me to do today (haha, I wrote this yesterday morning on Sunday before I cleaned).

@Deeder522 It was a great holiday! I performed twice on the 4th (a morning bugle call at the flag raising ceremony and an evening concert). In the afternoon between the two performances, my neighbor had her big annual get-together, which is always fun! Very busy day. Saturday was the vehicle parade, which my dad and I always do in his little red sports car. I drive and he throws the candy. Then Saturday night was the dance, and I danced a few numbers, so I guess that's a little bit of exercise anyway 😄

    July Goals

    Miles Tracked: 13 / 81
Apple Challenge: walk or run 2.5 miles on 14 different days. 2/14

This morning I dragged myself out of bed and into the den for a morning workout. Started with 15 minutes Standing Arms with Fit by Mik and then 1 Happy Mile with Leslie. I feel pretty good and now can focus on getting back into the swing of work. I'm scheduled myself off today for some post holiday clean up and errands.
What lovely holiday weekends were had by the group. 🥰 Now, back to the grind. 😂

The holiday weekend is officially over. It was fun but now it’s time to get back on track. I watch my granddaughter today, but I’m hoping I have enough energy left to take a walk.

I ended yesterday in bed early with a rare migraine. I felt better this morning but decided to wait on the workout. 1 Mile walk in the Park this evening workout out nicely.

    Elfirose33 Posts: 1,351 Member

Today I worked in the garden 2 hours, and then tonight I did a very sweaty 20-minute workout at home that my personal trainer assigned me, at my request, in place of the workout I missed on the 4th. Whew, I did it, and I'm so proud of myself! Feeling great now!

@lclark04957 I know the feeling of needing to get back on track. Watching grandchildren ought to be countable as a workout! 😄💜

@Deeder522 Oh no, so sorry to hear about the migraine, I hear those are terrible! Glad you're feeling better. Good idea to wait. A walk in the park sounds healing 💚

    July 8-Garmin Miles: 5.3

July 9-Hiked Coney Mountain! 2.1 miles, 619' Assent: Garmin Miles: 7.0

I'll be you all thought I was still lost in New Jersey right? Between their left exits and more Michigan lefts than there are in Michigan, it is amazing we are not still trying to figure our way out of there for sure! 🤣

In fact, I have been very busy with my son learning to plan, shop and cook Keto! It is not hard, but does take a lot of time to prepare and cook. In addition, my daughter-in-law is coming next week and she has hashimoto disease and is on a Mediterranean diet so I am trying to learn more about that one and how to combine it with my son's Keto! On top of that, I have been deep cleaning the house so it is ready for the neglect that will happen when all my kids and grand-kids are here, helping Dennis remodel our son's room (mostly mudding, but tomorrow my son and I will install the LVT flooring), helping my son put in the dock, and clearing the summer stuff from the boat that belongs in the house so we can launch it. Summer around here is going to be crazy compared to our quiet summer last year! 😉

I finally feel much better though so thank all of you for the good wishes!!! I have not been working out per se as there is just too much to do and I keep running out of time. I was complaining about it and my son said, "Let's hike Coney Mom! I am sure you can do it!!!" I was not so sure since I have not climbed a mountain in over 5 years, but I went for it and I DID IT!!!!!! Granted, it was only a 619' assent, but it is a start!!! Clearly, my hemoglobin problem has been solved!!!! ⛰️

My goals for July are simple in that I want to do 3 mountain hikes and increase my walking mileage over last month. The rest are all Garmin challenges that I have entered for fun. I have decided like the rest of you that summer in the mountains is very short and September is my new year anyway ( years on an academic calendar make January "midterm" not the New Year 😂) and I will restart in earnest then. I am not sure how often I will post until my kids all leave in early August, but I will try to check in more regularly now that I have this Keto thing more in hand!

You are all doing great and I am so glad this board is here for us. 😄

@zichab I'm so glad you found the time to check in here. Keto and Mediterranean is a lot to learn for the kitchen. I'm glad you and Dennis have some help right now on getting things ready.

I'm taking a rest day unless you count the 5 squats I did on the Total gym.

  • zichab
    zichab Posts: 1,610 Member

I count that @Deeder522! Squats are always counted no matter how many or where they occur-even cleaning the front of your stove! 😅

Considering all you have been through with Ryan's diet, I knew you would appreciate the challenge I face with my children's diets for very different health reasons. My son looks and feels better than he has in years and I am so grateful to Keto for helping him attain good health! He is 45 now and realizes that his health matters as he has young children. I will learn Keto any time to help my children. I follow several You Tubers with hasimoto and like my daughter-in-law, they have all followed different diets hoping for relief as has she. However, Mediterranean seems to have worked for her for over a year now, so we will make sure we maintain it for her while she is in the states. Thankfully, my son is not completely wedded to the full fat version of Keto because I also have to maintain the low sat fat, low sodium diet for Dennis as well! The good news is that I can eat ice cream with the kids!!!!! 🤣🍦

Today I did my personal training session for 30 minutes, then mowed for 20 minutes before the storms roll in this evening.

    @Deeder522 Good mile and squats!

@zichab Good to see you, thanks so much for checking in! 😊 It's great you're feeling better now, such a relief. Excellent ascent of Coney Mountain, especially after being sick. Learning how to combine two completely different dietary regimens is a huge learning curve, but well worth it. Wow, all big projects going on at your house! Have a great summer and see you whenever you're able to check in 😉

@lclark04957 Great job reaching step goals!

July 11-Indoor Walk- 20 minutes: Garmin Miles:

Today was a large grocery shop to gather all the ingredients for my children and grandchildren this summer. Gotta have all those s'mores ingredients ya know? 😃 I am managing to get an indoor walk in though not always with Leslie because my computer is in the kitchen now, which is not exactly a great workout space! 😏 But, we shall make do and enjoy it!

@Elfirose33 You have really been on it this summer! I am so proud of you keeping your training going as well as your yard work and all the boot camps and Tai Chi and boating, deep cleaning etc? It's great to see you going for your goals!!!

I will be installing the LVT tomorrow in my son's room that we planned to install today. Dennis needed one more day for the Spackle to dry, so he was a day behind with the primer and paint. But it is all painted and dry now, so it is time for the new flooring. Should be a fun day!!!! 🏡

A couple days of rest was just what I needed. Woke up this morning ready to go, do I did.
15 minute Arms & Abs with Fit by Mik followed by 10 minutes Gentle walk with Improved Health.
Now I'm sipping some freshly brewed tea and scrolling the social accounts.
Yesterday, I made some GF bread using the imported flour blend from Italy. Did everything in the breadmaker accept the baking. When the dough was ready I split it into 2 small mini loaf pans. 45 minutes later…Bread! We ate nearly 1 mini loaf last night. 😳 The bread was still on the dense side but still moist and not crumbly. We are counting it as a win. I'll try making another loaf this time in the breadmaker.

Today I did Step class for 60 minutes and then mowed for 35 minutes.

@zichab Thank you so much for telling me that!! 😊💜

Just found this group today! Loved reading all your comments. Hoping to get inspiration, motivation and accountability. I am one week into my serious diet and exercise program. Already down 1 kg this week. The diet; low carb, high protein, real food diet, nothing processed. Exercise; walking (Leslie's videos), weights and yoga. I have loved Leslie since I found her on you tube, probably 10 years ago. Thanks Leslie!

Just finished… 5K with a Twist! 3 1 Mile Walk at Home! and Yoga for Weight Loss | 50 Minute Workout

    My Exercise Program, for now:

30 to 45 minutes walking with Leslie 6 days a week (one day of rest)

Full Body Weight workout with Melissa Neill 3 days a week.

Yoga for Weight Loss with Suzanne Deason

I'm also walking outside from 30 to 60 minutes a day.

I was a little sluggish this weekend but made up for it today with a 1 Mile walk in the Park before the wildfire smoke pushes back in. I'm hoping to fit an arm workout later today.

@zichab Food shopping is a joy and a pain especially when deal with multiple dietary needs. However, you can count me in on at least 2 smores.

@Elfirose33 I'd love to be able to do a full 60 min step class again. Right now I'm working my way to a consistant 20min session.

@lclark04957 How's the step count looking?

@megd44 How are things up in your next of the woods.

@lois2077 Welcome to the Group! I"m glad you found us and we can be a source of motivation. You workout collention sounds like you've got all the major bases covered. I see you mentioned being down 1k, where are you joining us from. I'm in SW Michigan.
