@TeresaW2024 I've never been to Balboa Island , but that sounds wonderful! I love salt-water taffy. Balboa Park is in San Diego, it has 18 museums! And the zoo. It's a great place to have fun, and a must-see if you come to San Diego. It's a huge park and is beautiful. I'm so glad, and relieved, to hear that the visit went well. I'm sorry about how your morning went. I'm glad your sister was there to help. I hope the visit with the chaplain and social worker went well. You ARE going to get those benefits back!
@Katmary71 HUGS, friend.
@gemwolf110 Good job with the decluttering ! I'm on my own decluttering journey. Thank you for stepping up! Hopefully @Katmary71 can give you some instructions on the spreadsheet and reporting the weights as I've never done it.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Ah I see . That's really good though, that you can do that. Yes, just think of the free time you will have! Love it! For what you ate, I think you need to start with more protein. I don't see any protein in that breakfast and it will set the tone for your day. Good job with the protein and variety at lunch! I think more protein at dinner, does the cheeze have any protein in it? I hear you about the Clean Plate Club. Ah, emotional eating. I can see the appointment with your therapist triggering that eating session. I am so sorry about baby Oliver. I will be sending good thoughts your way.
@micaroo4 Ugh , I hate when we get mice! Knock on wood, we haven't had them for many years, they are hard to get rid of. Good luck!
ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your usual breakfast? I am soooooo sick of my normal breakfast which is plain nonfat Greek yogurt + frozen blueberries + some granola. It tastes okay but not after the 1,000th time eating it!
DISCUSSION QUESTION: Have you found any unexpected benefits to losing weight or living healthier?
I've pretty much experienced all the typical benefits that you expect: looser clothing, I can clip my toenails or paint them now, less knee pain, more stylish clothing, off my pre-diabetes medicine now...I can't think of anything surprising.Hi all. The PT session went fine yesterday. The therapist did something nice for me: I told him I've been having problems with vertigo and so he showed me how to do the Epley maneuver to cure it (and he did it on me). Today, I go to the worker's comp doctor, hopefully for the last time. I'm very busy at work and the time is going by quickly. At home, I am going to be starting the process of decluttering. I am taking the Friday before Labor Day off and of course I get Labor Day off, so that's 4 days I can work on decluttering. I may start sooner. The clutter is swallowing me! I can't stand it anymore.
Tracked yesterday? No

Hi 👋
I have been so tired from camping I rested half the day on Monday. The stairs on the trailer had my knee hurting so bad.
Yesterday, I cleaned the trailer most of the day. I should finish it today, but it's raining and I don't want to track mud in. It was so dry, one step and the dust flew, lol… I'm still trying to get my feet clean.
I'm starting to track my food again and try to be more active.

@FushiaKat – I can’t wait to see what you build for your sandcastle room!
@micaroo4 – How sweet of you to do live traps and relocate mousies. Growing up in the country, we’d get a mouse every once in a while. My dad would hunt them down like a madman! It was actually kind of entertaining. Not for the mouse, obviously, but for my mom, sister and I.
@trooworld – I definitely don’t have much protein in general. And a banana is my usual breakfast, although I’ve been trying to work in some oatmeal more often. I just looked at the sliced cheeze…no protein at all. It’s made with cashews, so I just figured it would. I checked the shredded cheeze I use, which is made with oatmilk. That one doesn’t have any, either. I’ll be going down a rabbit hole with this. I’m going to try being more conscientious of my protein intake (see update below). Thank you! I feel the same way about clutter. My goal is to get my kitchen table organized. It seats 6 people. Half of it is my “work desk” and the other half is my “studio” for taking tea photos. I need to get some organizing bins or something.
I did so much better yesterday! Very pleased with my food choices that provided better satiety with more protein and that was before reading @trooworld's recommendations! According to MFP, I ate 100% of the recommended protein for the day. I didn’t feel like any late night snacking and went to bed just before midnight. Woot Woot! I took Syd grocery shopping yesterday cuz her car is in the shop. I grabbed a bag of pretzels and a box of snack baggies. I measured out all of them on the scale. After putting together all 15 baggies, I had 1 pretzel left over. Popped that into my mouth and called it a night.
ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your usual breakfast?
Honestly, just a banana and tea. Maybe once a week I’ll made a cup of oatmeal at work if I’m really hungry. And Saturdays, just because I have time in the morning, I’ll make avocado toast. I’m usually just not very hungry until around 11am and by then, I figure I might as well wait until lunchtime. Bad habit, I know. I’ll work on it since I’m now trying to focus on more protein.

@Katmary71 - I replied to your MFP mail - I can do it if someone can cover when I'm away. Sounds like @gemwolf110 might help out?
0 -
@micaroo4 I just sent you an email back and had offered to cover your time away, something to think about between you and @gemwolf110 is we would need a motivator too if you step up so you two think about that one.

Thank you for all the sweet comments and thank you’s, I appreciate it and will enjoy still being part of this team!
@Cornanda I’m glad you talked to your manager, good thing you took some time to think about it before doing anything.
@trooworld I love Unexpected Cheddar that sounds delicious! Woohoo goodbye PT! Sounds like the group needs a decluttering challenge!
HAVE YOU FOUND ANY UNEXPECTED BENEFITS TO LOSING WEIGHT OR LIVING HEALTHIER? The difference in being able to do more on my own is awesome from being stronger though it’s still challenging. My oxygen levels are way better too I had my first asthma attack at 45 and haven’t had one since and with it being 100 yesterday at the allergist I think my exercising helps. It got a lot more health issues calmed down than I realized it would.
@TeresaW2024 I’m glad the visit went well with Joe’s family. Yikes I’m sorry to hear about Joe passing out! I hope the visit goes well with the chaplain and social worker.
@gemwolf110 Thank you for offering to step up, I had sent @micaroo4 a private message yesterday and she was willing if two weeks coming up could be covered for her as she won ’t be able to view the spreadsheets. I offered and hadn’t seen your post yet but we’re going to need a moderator too if @micaroo4 steps up . You two are welcome to discuss it too if you’d really like to be co-captain. I think you’d both do wonderful thank you! Wow you’re doing awesome with the decluttering! I love your energy right now you sound amazing!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Oh no I think you nailed the trigger to the snacking. I’ve started to realize I associate food with pretty much every emotion so if I’m emotional at all I want food. Prayers up for Oliver poor guy. That’s true what @trooworld said about protein it ’s likely both that and emotions (I’m a Clean Plate Clubber too).
@FushiaKat I love your unexpected changes!
@micaroo4 Yikes very kind -hearted of you to take the mouse somewhere else I love that! I’m sure Earl would like to have IT for breakfast!
WHAT IS YOUR USUAL BREAKFAST? I don’t eat it more of an early lunch, in the morning I have coffee then my vitamin/mineral drink when working out. I’ll sometimes get heartburn from the muscle relaxer I take at night and if that happens while I’m at the farm I’ll eat a bag of dried cranberries.
@DrewsAnna Great job getting back to tracking and being more active, honestly that’s a huge deal when it comes to being healthy is getting back to it fast and not waiting.
Hi gang! Been a busy day, I got my partial finally (9 months after my tooth broke), took a bunch of mushroom kits to the farm, and did some other errands. I need to get in with the kittens the one who’s on meds for diarrhea is “give another day if still has diarrhea” and he hasn’t gone #2 while I’ve been in there so I have to go hang out. Really worn out today I was planning on getting a lot done in the garden but didn’t. I did get 2 neighbors to take squash and zucchini off my hands so that’s a little less stress! Have a great Thursday.

my apologies everybody for not being on here a lot. My son is still having seizures and my wife is having more health issues. So, I’m always on guard to be where I need to be. I did skim over the posts but unfortunately it was just skimming so I only caught a few things.
@vegan4lyfe2012 I did forget to include that I slightly enjoy coffee.
one if the questions was about breakfast. My breakfast every morning is eggs whether it’s chicken or duck. Every now and again I’ll have meat with it ie bacon, sausage.

Ice Breaker Question:
WHAT IS YOUR USUAL BREAKFAST?
I normally eat the instant oatmeal that has dates and raisins. I sometimes add a few mixed nuts for the crunch I also have a big glass of ice water.
I've been trying to get three days of water aerobics in but this week, I feel like I'm coming down with a cold of something so I'm not going this morning. It's probably the change in the temperature…😕
Have a super day everyone!😎

@DrewsAnna @askewcr Congrats on the losses ! @askewcr , I hope you aren't getting sick.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Good luck with your rabbit hole . Maybe you could make a smoothie and throw some silken tofu in for protein? And protein powder? I find that when I have protein with each meal, I am more full than when I don't. It also helps to drink my water! But I know you are on that. :) Yeah, you know my struggle about clutter then. We should both go to Dollar Tree to get some organizing stuff! I'm glad you did better the next day. Good job! I love avocado toast. I would even order it out but my husband forbids it because he says we can make it at home lol.
@Katmary71 It was ! Yes, I was glad no more PT. :) A group decluttering challenge would be good. I would be happy to spearhead that! Yay for getting your partial (finally!). I hope the kitties are doing better today.
@19shmoo69 I hope they can figure out the seizures and your wife's health issues . Big hugs.
Hi all. I am about 90% done with a big project at work that I've been working on for a couple of weeks and it feels good to be almost done. I'll be glad when it IS done! Yesterday, the worker's comp doctor set me free, I don't have to go back. That's a relief. Today, my boss works from home so I think I will wear jeans to work. I've worn them when she's there before but I tend to do it more when she isn't there. :) I didn't feel like cooking last night as it was pretty hot in the house and my recipe for dinner called for the oven. I had leftovers instead. Tonight, I will need to use the oven though, so hopefully it is cooler.
Tracked yesterday? No

@vegan4lyfe2012 All I can say is that do you need more protein!! What about the plant-based protein powders? Can you have that? Good job on doing better and reaching your protein goal for the day! 🙂
@19shmoo69 So sorry about your son’s seizures and your wife’s health issues. I am saying a prayer for you all right now! 🙏
@trooworld OK, not the same Balboa! Balboa Park sounds like such a fantastic place. How awesome it must be to live in an area with so many diverse and fun things to do. 😀 I always like it when I can finish a big project, too. That is good news that you don’t have to go back to the workers’ comp doctor. Hoping for cooler weather so you don’t swelter in the kitchen! 🥵
Good morning! We hit another significant milestone yesterday. I decided it was time for a hospital bed, so our hospice nurse ordered it. It’s been so hard to move him on the Tempur-Pedic, and it’s just not safe anymore. Fortunately, I didn’t have to move our bed. I put his nightstand in our walk-in closet and moved my makeup table to the exercise room. It’s a little tight, but it works. I was sad not to have him next to me, but the fact is, I slept so much better without feeling his every little move, and I think he slept better, too. 😕 I have on my workout clothes so I can do a workout this morning. I haven’t worked out in well over two weeks, and will have to get back in the groove. I just need Joe to sit still for 30 minutes and not try to climb out of his recliner. Yeah, that has been a thing! 😮😂ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your usual breakfast? Usually, I just have two cups of coffee with half-and-half. If I’m hungry or planning to lift weights, I will add some protein powder to my coffee, along with nuts or peanut butter. I was buying different protein bars but they are all so processed.

@Katmary71 – So glad you FINALLY got your partial!
@19shmoo69 – I’m so sorry to hear your son is still having the seizures and your wife is having health problems, too. Hang in there. I’m praying for all of you.
@trooworld – I will have to give the silken tofu a try in my smoothie next time. I’m not big on protein powders. I found a vanilla one I really liked, then they went out of business and I spent too much money trying to find another. So I just gave up on that hunt. I was just thinking to myself yesterday that I need to make a trip to the Dollar Tree. Great minds think alike! I’m with your hubby on avocado toast. Too easy to make at home. When I go out to eat, I want something I wouldn’t make myself. Avocado toast was actually how I ended my day last night! Yay for no more PT!
@TeresaW2024 – I had a vanilla protein powder that I loved so much, but the company went out of business, and I couldn’t find another that tasted good. I’m going to try adding silken tofu to smoothies and maybe some sauces, too. I always have silken tofu in my kitchen. Glad to hear you were able to get some restful sleep. Fingers crossed Joe stays still long enough for your workout!
Another awesome day in the books! Fantastic food choices made ON PURPOSE that kept me feeling fuller longer. I made an Instant Pot full of potatoes, cooked some sweet corn, prepped for slow cooker chili today AND did all the dishes when I was done LOLs. This morning it was super easy to rinse my beans, dump all the ingredients in, add the spices that I had already measured out last night, and add the water. I hope it tastes good! Oh – also made sour cream for the chili. I might sneak in some frozen kale when it’s done. Kitchen Tip, if you didn’t already know: When you freeze kale, you can crumble it up while frozen and it turns into tiny little pieces that you can add to most anything. I like to add it to soups, stews and tomato sauces. Oh I also made some pumpkin pie spice and measured out oatmeal into some of those little snack bags, so I have no excuse to not make a quick cup of oatmeal at work. I preplanned my food for the entire day last night (wrote everything down and pointed them out) and I think that is extremely helpful in reducing my stress during the day. That is a new habit I will work on. I hope everyone has a good day!
2025 is MY year!

Popping back on really quick to remind people that we have the Daily Habit Tracker. I see that I'm the only one in our group using it this month. I think it's a great way to see our progress and note any patterns we need to work on.
This is the link to the post and there are instructions and a link that takes you to a Google Doc spreadsheet. Just make sure you click on the Mission Slimpossibles tab on the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Happy… Thursday? How did we get to Thursday so quickly?
Here's a bit of inspiration from James Clear's newsletter. I loved this:
"Working on a problem reduces the fear of it.
It’s hard to fear a problem when you are making progress on it—even if progress is imperfect and slow.
Action relieves anxiety."
2 -
I tried the quote option but true to form with the app, it’s not showing. @vegan4lyfe2012 You talked me into it. This will be the first time I’ve ever attempted to use the tracker. If I’m doing wrong let me know.
1 -
Ha! Quote doesn't work for me, either, @19shmoo69 😂
I hope the tracker helps!

Hi 👋
I didn't finish the trailer yesterday and I probably won't today either. I did finish the laundry and everything I took out for a good cleaning. Most likely I'll get it done tomorrow.
I only tracked about half my day yesterday, but that is a start and while I didn't "exercise" I was moving all day.
Ice breaker question, what is your usual breakfast?
I usually have 2 scrambled eggs (no milk) with fruit. Sometimes toast.

It's so frustrating trying to figure out what macros I should aim for. I googled "best macros for weight loss women over 50" and got so many differing suggestions. But I couldn't figure out how to google to get info from actual medical sites. ARG!
Shouting out to all the ladies in our group age 50 and older: What are your macros set to?
I'm drowning here!

WEIGH IN UPDATE
Reminder To Weigh In Tomorrow to @davors19 @littlebabekitty @trooworld (@Cornanda I got yours copied from last week thanks for the early heads up!)0 -
@MICAROO4 is going to be our co -captain and I’m sure she’ll do a wonderful job, thank you Mica! Sent an email about what’s going on to Lauren I’ll keep you in the loop.
@gemwolf110 Are you interested in being motivator?
@19shmoo69 I’m glad to see you check in! I’m sorry to hear about your son’s seizures continuing and your wife’s health issues. I think someone already asked you but I came across the meat allergy issue in an article after a tick bite, hope that DEFINITELY doesn’t ever happen to you!
@askewcr I hope you feel better soon and can get back to water aerobics! I’m always willing to swap to a lower weight for you wtg, you got it alright!
@trooworld Sure I’m in for the decluttering challenge! Even if I can’t do a lot it’s more than I’m doing now. Congrats on almost being done with your project!
@TeresaW2024 I think the hospital bed was the right choice safety-wise. I hope you get in the workout this morning! The extra sleep from not waking up at movements will help you get through the days too. Does Joe ever take naps in the day?
@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you! What a beautiful day congratulations! I aim for 80-100 grams, not sure if that’s possible without protein powder or meat but I have to be over 70 grams with weight lifting or I eat everything in sight (not that I don’t do that every once in awhile but I’m weak and run down without protein).
@AustinRuadhain Love the James Clear inspiration that’s so true.
@DrewsAnna Sounds like you’re getting a lot done I’m sure you’re burning some calories and housework sure the heck counts.
Hi friends! We’re going into a heat wave today, I’m waiting a bit later to water. We started broccoli raab, onions, and leeks at the greenhouse this morning. Kittens are still sneezing a lot but they’ll get their first vaccinations tomorrow. My little guy who had diarrhea so bad is doing wonderful now but I’ve been concerned about his balance and a more experienced volunteer was here today and noticed it too. The description “wobbly” is an issue I’ve seen in videos which is cats with Cerebellar Hypoplasia so I was purposely not looking it up but the word “wobbly” is the perfect description, it’s like he loses control of his lower body and falls or stumbles often. In videos it’s pretty extreme we think he has a mild case and it won’t affect lifespan or anything and he’s not bad enough to need home modifications. I’m kind of thinking his sister who passed away also had it though we’re pretty sure she was a dwarf kitten too. Got a lot of seed sorting done too and some cleaning, Have a great Friday!
3 -
Hi @Katmary71 yes I’d like to be motivator :-)

QUESTION: Have you found any unexpected benefits to losing weight or living healthier?
As a disabled retiree on SS/SSI who fortunately get EBT and food pantry deliveries, the money I save on groceries is even GREATER, because I no longer purchase junk foods and any processed foods (i.e. chips, ice cream, Little Debby's, boxed Mac+Cheese, canned ravioli, etc.). With my anemia now, I've been "forced" to buy better, leaner cuts of beef, pork and chicken. I'm starting to learn how to cook with tofu, and trying new foods like kimchi, which is a great alternative to plain sauerkraut😋
I'm a much, much happier person because I can actually "do stuff" and not just be a slug in the recliner ALL THE TIME, as before !!!😔

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your usual breakfast?
