@TeresaW2024 LOL not the same (although your Balboa sounds amazing, too!): https://balboapark.org/ Yes, there is a lot to do. I love that park! Thank you! I think it was a good idea to order the hospital bed. I'm glad you didn't have to move your bed. I'm sure it's heavy! It sounds very stressful to have to worry so much. I hope you get to work out to relieve some of it!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Ah I see . I hope the tofu will help satiate you. HAHAHA about the avocado toast...they do make it so tempting, so appealing! I'm glad you had an awesome day. Wow, you did a lot! Good tip, thanks! I didn't know that. Ok, I'm sold on the habit tracker!!! I committed to tracking food and water. I know some people hate AI, but if you don't, I would try ChatGPT or Google Gemini for that answer. Put in as much info as you can about your height, weight, current activity level and goals. This is what I put in for me and got a nice response (it gave me a choice of two answers): "I am working on losing weight. Please suggest some nutritional macros for me. A little about me: I am 57 years old, 5' 4", 182 lbs, I lift weights 3 days a week." I aim for at least 80 grams of protein per day and 72 oz of water. Those are the only goals I have at this point.

@AustinRuadhain That is soooo true ! Thank you for that this morning.

@micaroo4 Thank you for stepping up ! I know you will rock this!

@gemwolf110 Yay for being motivator ! You will also do a great job. You got this!

@Katmary71 Thank you ! I will think about the challenge and announce it soon. I am sure it will be hot here today, too. I hope the little guy is okay.

Hi all. New decluttering challenge will be announced soon. It was about 95F when we got home yesterday after work but I still made my dinner: Roasted Pork Tenderloin & Potatoes with Honey Umami Butter. It was a recipe I found on Trader Joe's website: https://www.traderjoes.com/home/recipes/roasted-pork-tenderloin-potatoes-honey-umami-butter using their products. It was super easy to make and really good. I added it to my "FAVORITES" category. I bet it will be hot again today. I work from home today. I think every once in a while, I will take a 15-minute break and set a timer and declutter. I lost 2.6 lbs this week, which is nice since last week, I lost -0-!

    Tracked yesterday? No

Okay, I got ambitious and got this done:

    AUGUST DE-CLUTTER challenge.png

FOR ALL OF AUGUST! DECLUTTERING CHALLENGE!
Why do a decluttering challenge in a weight-loss group? Research has shown that living in cluttered environments increases stress levels, which trigger hormonal imbalances. Hormonal imbalances can lead to overeating and weight gain. Clutter and chaos can also create mental and emotional fatigue, making healthy habits such as exercise and meal planning more challenging. So, join me on this challenge during August!

    1. AIM to toss 5 things a day! These can be as simple as a receipt, a piece of trash, or you can go for bigger things like a shirt that no longer fits, or a kitchen gadget you never use.
    2. On your days off, set a timer for 15 minutes and declutter as much as you can! Have 3 boxes: one for donate, one for keep, and one for things that go in another room. Also have a trash bag. Take your donate stuff out to the car after the 15 minutes so it doesn't become more clutter!
    3. Keep us updated on how you are doing with the challenge. Take before and after pictures for yourself, but feel free to share them with us, if you want!

Thank you, @micaroo4 , for stepping up and becoming our co-captain! And thank you, @gemwolf110 , for becoming our motivator! You both are going to be amazing, and we are blessed to have you! 🤩

@vegan4lyfe2012 I don’t track my macros, but I try to prioritize protein at every meal. Because you're a vegan, your carbs will be much higher than someone like me who needs a low-carb diet if I want actually to lose weight. 😃

@Katmary71 Joe takes a two to three-hour nap every day. That’s how I get so many puzzles done! 😂 Awe, poor little wobbly kitty! How much longer before they find their forever homes?

@trooworld Wahooo on your 2.6 lb loss this week!! 😎OK, I am down for some decluttering in my closet! I have so many shoes that I will NEVER wear because of my stupid bunion. It’s time to rehome them and free up some space.

Good morning! Today, I have a Zoom meeting with our financial planner for a mid-year review, and Joe’s hospice nurse is expected to visit him today to check on his progress. One of the hospital bed railings is not working, so that needs to be addressed ASAP. Joe also decided to climb out of his recliner and fall on the floor. So, a chair alarm will arrive today! 🙄 He spent a good part of yesterday trying to figure out how to get back to Illinois to his home with his mom. He asked my sister if she would drive him since he probably should be driving. She said maybe they can plan a road trim next year. He was happy. It is very strange how fast his memory has declined, and his hallucinations have increased too. Makes for interesting days! 🙃

    @davors19 — Great weigh-in! 🎉

@trooworld - Zowie! Great weigh-in! 🎉 And congratulations on graduating from PT! 🎉

@baodell17724 — Another coffee person! Woohoo! And hooray to getting to get out of your recliner to move and enjoy life more! So inspiring!

@gemwolf110 - Thank you for taking on the motivator role! 🙏

@Katmary71 - Hurray for the partial finally being done! I hope it cuts down on the stress to have your mouth feel like it's working properly! That's great news about the wobbly kitten. I had to go read up on Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Thank you for being up for staying in the group after transitioning from Co-Captain. I always value what you have to say, and hearing about all your projects is an ongoing inspiration! 🏆

@vegan4lyfe2012 : I am over 50, female and also a vegan. My macros are set to 35% protein (105 g), I allow for about 20% fat (27 g) and the rest carbohydrates (with the aim of concentrating on vegetables and fruit). You mentioned looking for a vegan protein powder. I am a fan of Garden of Life and also of Orgain. My current afternoon snack/protein boost is a really simple shake made with vanilla protein powder, key lime juice and some ice, all shaken up.

@DrewsAnna — Hurray for tracking half your day yesterday! When I got back into tracking my food, I did that same thing. I set my goal to part of the day, declared a victory when I got that done, and then worked my way back up to tracking everything.

@askewcr — Great weigh-in! 🎉 What's working especially well for you? I hope that you shake off the cold (?) soon.

@TeresaW2024 — The hospital bed sounds like it was such a great move. I am so glad it meant you got better sleep! I hope you got a workout in. 🏆

@19shmoo69 — I am so sorry to hear that both your son and your wife are having health issues. That's a lot to deal with.

@laurelfit57 — You have been quiet. I hope life is going okay.

@Cornanda — How are you doing?

    WHAT IS YOUR USUAL BREAKFAST?

I fast until noon. The only thing I have in the morning is coffee, often with a spritz of sugar free Torani. My first noon meal is usually a green smoothie — greens, berries and other fruit, vegan protein, plus some extras like ginger, turmeric and/or spirulina.

I am looking at transitioning from coffee. I am thinking I will try yaupon. It's caffeinated and loves growing in this area, so I could grow it in my yard. Hmm!

    DECLUTTERING CHALLENGE

I am so in for this! I have been doing work on it this week anyway. One of my most exciting accomplishments for the week was a team project with my husband on Tuesday. We rented a truck from Home Depot and took a load of items to the landfill — leftover materials from building a shed, plus some items from the garage. Yesterday I took two bags of books to Half Price Books. I am debating ditching my stack of music CDs. I am excited to keep going!

Today, I will get declutter by taking a bag of old SF books to someone who may want some of them.

    Hi 👋

My husband fell yesterday and I guess it was a pretty solid fall, (I wasn't there) and he hurt his arm. It is swollen and bruised from his wrist up to his elbow, he can barely move it. He's refusing to go to Urgent care, but I really think he should.

Last night was the first preseason game of the year for us. Seahawks vs. Raiders, it ended in a tie and was a good game. It also led to pizza, rootbeer (my favorite soda) and an ice cream bar. I don't drink soda very often, so that is a good thing, but I only drank about half my water intake, which is also very unusual for me. Needless to say, I didn't want to track that, so I only tracked half my day again. I'm going to try and do better today.

I don't remember who, but someone said they were considering getting rid of their cd's, lol... I still buy them and listen to mine all of the time. I guess it's one of those things I can't get rid of yet.

    Y'all have a great day 😀

@19shmoo69 – I read and responded to the message this morning. Thanks!

@micaroo4 – Thank you for being our new co-captain!

@gemwolf110 – Thank you for being our new motivator!

@trooworld – Nice to see you on the tracker, too! See my update below. Thanks for suggesting ChatGPT…I rarely think about it as an option. And thanks for the decluttering challenge!

@Katmary71 – We’re headed into a heat wave, too. I don’t know how you’re able to just keep going like the Energizer Bunny with all the gardening you do! Please be sure to keep hydrated while you’re outside!

@TeresaW2024 – It can definitely be a challenge to get more protein. Why, Joe, why? Why can’t you keep your butt in the chair!?! I hope he’s ok. It’s sweet of your sister to play along with his conversations. I’m glad it made him happy.

@AustinRuadhain – Thank you – I’ve been thinking I should set my protein to about 35%. I’ll check out those protein powders, too. Everything I’ve read suggests that I really need more protein in my life. I have always been carb-heavy.

@DrewsAnna – Ouch! I hope you can convince hubby to have his arm checked out. I still have lots of CD’s. I had a Pioneer stereo put into my car previously just for that purpose. But now I basically just listen to podcasts instead. Of course, I’m the type that still has a ton of VHSs, too hahahahaha (No…I will not be decluttering any media, either!)

Thanks everyone that responded regarding macros! I took the advice of @trooworld and did ChatGPT . Gave all my stats and it created a 7 day, high protein (~108g), 1435 calories, vegan meal plan with a grocery list and batch prep schedule. I used up all my free data for the day on that one LOLs. A tad scary, tho, that I forgot to say vegan and it remembered it from previous requests I’d made.

By the way, my slow cooker chili turned out to be soup cuz I added too much water (didn’t take into account the 2 cups of salsa). It’s so spicy! I felt bad that it was too spicy for Hunter and the littles, but at least I only made a half batch, so I’m having some for my next few lunches. Light Bulb Moment – I’ll add some TVP to the rest of it to up the protein (and thicken it up a bit)!

Be sure to stay hydrated! Seems like a lot of us are heading into a heat wave, or are already there!

    2025 is MY year!

@Katmary71 - I requested editor access to the spreadsheet and Lauren has given me that. Now I just need to know what to do. It looks like I just need to find everyone's weight when they record it, and post it next to their name on the correct week. And here on the chat, you send reminders and you tag everyone if they're late. Let me know if there's more to it than that!

    Past Weight: 202.2 lbs

    Current Weight: 203.0 lbs

    Up 0.8 lbs

    ——————

    Exercise💦: 5 hours this week

[It's been a "wonky week" for me… not been able to concentrate on my food - eating healthy, but portion control was off - or exercise. Been taking iron pills for my anemia, and I made a delicious beef and bean stew, the latter which added more needed protein. Last night I learned that an old "work buddy" from the 1980s died, we had been in occasional contact via Fb, and while he never looked well in his pictures (quite gaunt), he never spoke of being ill. Normally, an event like that would have triggered a snack binge… but my stomach felt "too off" to eat, Thank God.]

It's been a busy week. I've been working in my garden, helping with tree jobs, and I had my grandson for a couple days too. Today, my husband and I will be cleaning out the garage together.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your usual breakfast?

I have a few different breakfasts I rotate through. Oatmeal with fruit and almonds. Apple with peanut butter. Egg sausage and avocado(sometimes on whole wheat toast). Protein pancake with fruit on top. Yogurt with fruit and granola. Or if I'm short on time a handful of almonds. Oh…with a large black coffee every morning.

@TeresaW2024 Thank you ! OH gosh, I feel you about that bunion, I've got one too! You have your mission. I hope the meeting went well. I'm sorry about Joe's decline; it does seem very rapid.

@davors19 Congrats on the loss !

@AustinRuadhain Thank you ! I have never heard of yaupon, I will have to go down a rabbit hole and look that up! Around here, they make mushroom "coffee" which is not really coffee but is literally made from mushrooms. It's supposed to have a lot of benefits but I've never tried it. I just went to the landfill last weekend. Boy, it's sad to go, isn't it? But it feels good to let go. Good job with the decluttering!

    @micaroo4 Good tips .

@DrewsAnna It does sound like your husband should go to Urgent Care . I hope he's okay.

@vegan4lyfe2012 You are welcome ! Thanks for the ping about the tracker! I hope the plan ChatGPT worked out for you helps. Yes, it remembers all your previous conversations which is helpful but also a little weird lol. Good idea to add TVP to your soup/chili! I need to do better with hydration today so thanks for the reminder.

    @gemwolf110 Great job !

@baodell17724 Sorry about your friend (and the gain). Hugs and I hope you feel better soon.

@laurelfit57 Thinking of you and hoping you are well .

Hi all. I did do some decluttering yesterday (see below). I hope to do more today but we have a busy day: we are celebrating our wedding anniversary! We are going to the movies tonight and going somewhere special during the day (I'll reveal more after). I'm going to the gym this morning and then to get the rest of the groceries. We went to Trader Joe's last night; I got some Saturn (Donut) peaches. I love those! I also got some Cutie mandarin oranges. I am trying to eat healthier snacks as I've been getting into chips and stuff like that lately.

DECLUTTERING: I took two grocery bags and two garbage bags to my car with things for the Goodwill. A lot of it was purses and accessories. I rearranged some of my craft supplies and looked through my books, although I only discarded two books so far. This was all from the living room. It looks slightly better in here now, and I feel a little less stressed. In the bedroom, I decluttered my purse shelf. I ordered clear tall storage drawers to put my purses in, making them more accessible. It's amazing how many purses I have! I'll post some pics after I get the drawers set up.

    Tracked yesterday? No

@micaroo4 Excellent decluttering tip! The clean-up afterwards is what will help keep the clutter from hindering the decluttering. 😀

@vegan4lyfe2012 This new phase, where he thinks he can just get up, is very stressful. BUT he is currently sitting on his new chair alarm, so I dare him to try to get up without me knowing!! 😂 Hmm, I need to have a talk with ChatGPT about creating a diet plan for me. I think focusing on your protein is going to give you the much wanted results. 🙂

Good morning! Joe’s new chair alarm is going to be great! Especially since he wants to go “home” this morning and isn’t sure how he got into this house. He was also very impressed that I knew his age and said that I must be very intelligent. Yup!!! 😂 I started decluttering the closet yesterday by reorganizing Joe’s nightstand, which I moved in there with all his supplies. Today, I’m going through all my shoes and making some hard decisions on which ones I know I won’t wear. Those pink checkered Vans that Joe bought me several years ago are adorable, but dang, they kill my bunion! 😮

    Hi 👋

I got hubby to go to Urgent care yesterday. He broke the radial in his right arm. They put a splint on his arm and referred him to a orthopedist to follow up with. He was none to happy with me for making him go, and it was a grueling 4 1/2 hours doing a lot of waiting, but now we know.

I have a lot to do today. When we came home yesterday, I noticed a funky smell. So, I have to find it, and I have to clean up Chippers bathroom, lol… he chose to use the neighbors facilities (yard) yesterday and I was none to happy with him. Plus, I have to take care of hubby.

    Y'all have a great day 😀
