Hi, I'm Julie, a 52 year old working mom of 4 almost-grown kids. I thought about this challenge since I checked it out last night and decided it would be perfect for me. I am not by nature a competitive person EXCEPT when it comes to competing against myself for a goal. I can do this, I will do this. My biggest change will be the exercising on work days because I have gotten lazy but I have no excuse. My biggest obstacle will be staying under my goal calories, but with this group and the accountability I WILL DO IT! Let's go!0

Hello everyone, I am Margie from australia, as some of you know I am the awful lady that throws these mini challenges at you, you don't have to do them but they make it interesting and can only be good for you.,,,well,,,,,lol,,,, guess what?! November I am doing just the one challenge and it be be the squat challenge for 30 days, not easy but doable, I have done it several times and ,,, oh boy!, we will have a separate thread that once you commit to it you have to stay with it, no guts no glory, just log it every day.0

I am Priya from Ottawa, Canada.
It's my first time doing this challenge.
I am looking forward to this, I need motivation and accountability to get to my fitness goals!0 -
I'm Sandra or Sandy this is my first time doing a challenge. I'm 21 in college full time , and i need to loose 70 lbs according to my doctor but i'd like to lose 40-50 lbs. I'd love for anyone to add me for support and/or accountability.
Two questions
My calorie goal is 1,200 to lose 2 lbs per week but i eat back my calories when i exercise so if i go over 1,200 will i loose the challenge?Or are you talking about when you have negative calories left? Because i know my fitness pal gives you those calories back.
I currently have my diary open to just friends will i have to make it public?0 -
Hiya. My name is Mira, I am mum of two. This is going to be my first time to do this challenge!
Good luck everyone!0 -
Welcome to everyone, so good to see you all in this group, we are all in this together so if you are having an off day yell out someone will always be able to help, not just jenn or myself but anyone feel free to offer support or encouragement.0

Hi everyone,
My name is Kristine. This will be my second month participating in the UAC. The first month was a challenge but the rewards were worth it. As we get closer to the end of the year the struggle with be increasingly difficult for me. I am looking forward to keeping the momentum going. Good luck and see you on the 1st..0 -
Hi, my name is Susan and this is my first time participating. I've been faithful about logging food but not so much about exercising. It's dark when I leave for work in the morning and it's dark when I get home in the evening. I'm a teacher, so if I don't sit down all day does that count as exercise?0

Haha, that's a hard one. I'd say no--it needs to be something that increases your heart rate a little.
Can you walk around during your lunch break?0 -
Hi, my name is Sharon and I have been logging for about 86 days... I am usually active 5/6 days a week but am looking forward to the challenge of 7 days a week.
I am looking for some mfp friends too, this is my first time losing weight and actually getting online support. I usually go it alone and it makes it a lot harder. I am 27/174 pounds so anyone in that range that wants the extra support and someone to relate too, add me.
PS I work full time plus starting a consulting business so I eat out a lot for work but I still log religiously.0 -
Aleishia here. Last month I blew it on day 6 or so while vacationing.
So I'm here I am to try again!0 -
Hi everyone! My name is Sally and I'm looking forward to the extra accountability this challenge will bring! I'm a little nervous about how I'll do with the holidays, and exercising 7 days a week is a daunting task, but I think I'm up for the challenge!!0
-
HI I'm Simone Renee and this is my first time thanks for your support0

Greetings Beautiful People,
I have a wonderful hubby, a teenage son and three cats. Last year I dropped 30lbs but let a few creep up on me over Winter by slacking off on logging and making excuses for not exercising. This is my first challenge on the UAC. I'm looking forward to the challenge and being held accountable as I work to improve my habits and reduce my BMI.
I wish you all great success. Be strong and choose well ! -- Sunny.0 -
Hi everyone! My name is Steph and this is my first Accountability Challenge and I'm a little bit terrified
I've just re-committed to getting healthy and feel like starting hard with proper rules to stick to will really get me in the right mindset.
I have 2 children and work in a cafe. I have a bit of an obsession with making cakes which is also part of my new job so it's always close to hand. Luckily I've found this past month I'm getting a bit fed up of it!
After being a SAHM for the past 5 years being back at work 4 days has really changed the way I view food. It was a big part of my days focus before with regular meals and snacks on a strict routine and boredom was a big part of my over eating. But now I find it's an after thought most of the time and it's kick started my weight loss and motivated me to join MFP also.
I'm looking forward to finally accepting my own accountability!0 -
Also wanted to add I have no friends on here yet so feel free to add me0
-
Hi, this is my first time trying this challenge out - hoping it will encourage me to do a little bit of exercise every day, and log what I'm eating to get back on track0
-
Hi there! I've considered doing this before but always found it too daunting. November is going to be hard month for me, with lots of eating out because of foreign family visiting, and obviously Thanksgiving! But I want something difficult. And as shameful as it is, I don't think I've actually exercised for a month. Every time I start up again, I think to myself "this feels great, why did I stop?" but then life gets stressful and exercise is the first thing I cut from my schedule. That needs to change!! I really haven't been focused since around June; I maintained until around the start of September and since then I've been gaining. Happy to be a part of the group and hopeful for change in my body!0
-
Hello, my main goal of this month: establish good habits/routine! Weight-loss is the by-products :-)0
-
Hi my name is Mel and I think I have been under my calorie requirements once in all the times I have been on MFP so this should be pretty interesting challenge for me but I am looking forward to it.0
-
Hello!! This is my 1st UAC & I'm looking forward to it. I finished doing a DietBet hosted by Jillian Michaels & met my goal. Accountability works for me so I want to keep the momentum going. My goal is to drop at least 4lbs by the end of the challenge. I will do it & I know everyone on this challenge will meet his/her challenge. Positivity peeps!!0

I joined and while I did not do the practice days, I did watch what I was doing. Boy am I glad I have TOM starting on the first day so that I have that really bad week out of the way. The problem will be that week will be during the holiday time in Nov. Yikes! I'm hoping this challenge will keep me on track though as that TOM yoyo is starting to annoy me. Looking forward to the challenge!0

Hi all, I'm Jess. I've joined this challenge a few times and successfully completed it once, having lost about 8 pounds. I have (unfortunately) regained it and I am ready to start again.
I'm a little wary about how well I'm going to do this month. I am starting NaNoWriMo for the first time ever today and all that writing means a whole lot of sitting. I plan to utilize my elliptical to ensure that I get in my 20 minutes a day.0 -
Hi I'm audrey. This is my first time to the challenge and I'm excited! Never have gone longer than 1 week of staying on track! Thanks for setting up the group! I hope my jeans get looser!0

Hi, I am Gus (Augusta). November will be my fourth UAC. So far I have lost 41 pounds and I feel so much better than I did on August 1 when I very tentatively signed up for my first challenge.
This means that I have stuck to caradae's rules of staying in my calorie goal, exercising at least 20 minutes a day and tracking everything for almost 100 days in a row now.
Newbies, all of you can do this. Just make the challenge a priority in your life. Tell people - they will understand if you don't take a piece of birthday cake or want to go out for pizza in the evening. Most of the world needs to lose weight and I have found my friends and family really helpful and kind when I tell them I cannot eat something. Days like today, when I know we are having pizza for dinner, I will really watch what I eat for lunch and sometime before dinner, I will plug in different amounts of pizza on the Fitness Pal food diary until I know exactly how much I can eat and still stay within my calorie goals.
When I dusted off the aerodyne bike on August 1 and set the timer for 20 minutes, I knew I was in trouble. I completed a 20-minute slowish pedal and then recovered on the couch for another 15 minutes. It was awful. But I repeated it the next day because I didn't want to fail myself on my very first day. By the end of the month, 20 minutes on the bike was a breeze, so I upped my exercise to 30 minutes in September, and then 40 minutes on the bike in October. I will be upping that to 45 minutes in November. The bike is easy for me to do because it is right at home and I can get on when I want, whether it is 8 in the morning or 10 at night (I have done both).
I love the accountability of checking in every day, so I never get off track and never "fudge" the day, like I used to do on Weight Watchers when I only checked in once a week. Also, I am a very stubborn person and I don't want to get "kicked off the island," so I stay with the program. Use your own stubborn streak to stay with the program.
My goal is to lose another 10 pounds in November. I wish the greatest success to all and hope that we all complete the program November 30.
Again, thank you, caradae, for a great program that really works for me.0 -
Hi. I'm Emma and looking forward to being held accountable - especially at the weekends! Need to shift 20lbs and all help appreciated....
Weekends are my hardest time too!0 -
Hi, I'm Jeni and I'm super excited about this challenge. I do really well with my calories but I don't necessarily exercise every.single.day so this is my motivation. Thanks for coming up with such a cool idea! jeni.0
